Had the poke bowl with ahi tuna yesterday at a pop up by golden gate. I'm not from SF so potentially not the right way to describe the location. The bowl itself was mediocre but the worst came about 4 hours after. I have never written a review and never gotten sick like this from food. The staff was so so nice and service was good which makes this so unfortunate. I was experiencing horrible vomiting and stomach pains. My sister ate the absolute exact same things as me the entire day; expect this bowl, and was not sick at all. I really hope it was just a bad batch but something in the bowl was not okay. Where's the fish?! Paid almost $20 for this thing they called sushi burrito. As you can see or not see, they put maybe a couple of diced fish in there and an inch thick or rice. It should be called a roll of rice with a hint of tuna. To add "insult to injury", the lady making it wears gloves but opens the coolers with the same gloves she picked the the fish and scooped the rice and the other ingredients with. UPDATE: I was given a refund after I complained. They said it was the end of the day that's why they just piled up more rice in my burrito. --UPDATED-- I did end up reaching out to the owner, Judi, to express my original concern, and she was incredibly gracious and quick to respond. She did say that no other customers had reported any concerns today, and she herself had had the salmon poke bowl with no repercussions; "the fish was freshly thawed out this morning and on ice. We check the temperature throughout the day too and add ice to the trays as needed." I wanted to explicitly share this to forestall any other Yelp readers' concerns about food safety on a hot day. She very kindly invited me to check them out again, which I would be glad to do. We rarely encounter owners who are so customer-centric these days, and I am writing this update quickly to make sure Poke A Go Go gets credit for that. --ORIGINAL POST-- I was excited for my salmon poke bowl when I found this place at the Presidio Tunnel Top but had an unfortunate experience; price, substance, quality and speed of service were all lacking. I also got food poisoning. Maybe they were having a bad day today. First of all, $18 is a bit pricy for a poke bowl, even in SF, especially for only one protein. For example, there is a poke place in the Metreon where you can get two scoops for that less than that price (I was there two weeks ago). Nevertheless, I persevered today because I wanted a healthy option. I'd also thought poke would be the fast option since it is poke, which you scoop on the spot--and I hadn't requested any customization or add-ons. But I waited a baffling 11 minutes for my poke bowl, which was unfortunate since my friends--who had ordered hot food--all gotten their food in the meantime and were halfway done by the time I finally rejoined them on the green. When I got the poke, as Zarah L. mentioned in her review below, the salmon was scant. There were about five bites worth. It was a rice bowl with a little bit of salmon sprinkled--even adjusting for inflation and the fact that this is SF, I was quite surprised. Maybe they were just running low on salmon or were getting too rushed to properly calibrate portions. Normally, I would go back and ask about it, but by the time I had actually looked down into the bowl, I was a good 10 minutes away and didn't want to lose time going back and waiting in line again. As for the food quality: It was a very hot day today (78 degrees!), which may have to do with why the salmon appeared slimy, and it was rather bland, as were the rest of the scant ingredients that were sprinkled on top. The food was so disappointing that I couldn't finish it--not even the two remaining bites of salmon. I offered it to a friend who said he was still hungry, and he took one look and politely decided. Aside from toast for breakfast, the poke was the only thing I've eaten today, and several hours later, I am actually writing this post from my bedroom floor because I now have a stomachache--which I've also never had before from poke. I'm pretty sure it's food poisoning, and today's misadventure with Poke A Go Go was a culinary mistake. Maybe they were having a bad day today, since it seems their catering may be better-liked and it's hard to serve raw fish when it is almost 80 degrees out. I had the salmon poke bowl today (Mother's Day) at this food truck at Almanac Brewery in Alameda. Just as Ada explained in her review (but in SF), I also got food poisoning and am laying on the bathroom floor right now. The salmon poke was not tasty at all. Big chunks of flavorless fish and apparently spoiled. Yesterday was a super hot day and I assume this was leftover from yesterday's supply. They were setting up and I was second in line to order my food. The person in front of me ordered the same and the woman cashier asked the man if they still had salmon left. He said he had enough for 3-4 bowls and held up a bag of fish. That was strange to me that they just started their day and was already almost out of salmon. That should have been my first hint that this was yesterday's salmon that probably sat in an ice chest the previous day which was 85+ degrees. So, the food wasn't fresh and not tasty so avoid at all cost! Never will I eat here again nor order raw fish at a food truck with fish on ice vs a refrigerator! I've been done with the SF food truck scene for a while and this place really epitomizes why. Service is slow and the poke is completely underwhelming for the steep $18 price tag. My friend and I were hoping for a quick bite and decided to try this at Presidio Tunnel tops on a hot day. I ordered a poke bowl and was informed that it would take 15 minutes (!). I absolutely loved working with Juni from Poke A Go Go for our rehearsal dinner catering in October 2022. Juni was kind, communicative, and flexible with all my questions and changes. Juni created a beautiful taco bar spread for us with carnitas, chicken, veggies, rice, beans, tortillas, chips, salsa and guac. The food was delicious and the setup was great, too. We received tons of compliments on the carnitas specifically, but it was all very tasty. There was more than enough food for everyone -- we left with a lot of leftovers. You definitely get your money's worth, and Juni's prices are very fair and affordable, especially for Marin County.
