Wow, a 4-year-old review all of a sudden is causing issue. Seems to me that if things got better, my old experience wouldn't matter. Instead, I get messages from an ally who belittles me, threatens me, and did the research to ensure I knew she had doxxed me. Copying and pasting from my business website. Asking me to delete my reviews as a "Christmas favor." Hmm... Not sure why they're siccing this woman on me after all these years. They must be desperate - or she is. In the interest of honesty, as she is so fervently interested in, I will copy and paste the other review here. It was confusing way back then which account to post my experience on, since they were not exactly honest with their dealings with us and they had two accounts on Yelp. I also see that the other business account has either been buried or deleted. Not sure what that's about. Below the review, I'll share some of funnier lines from her messages to me. ************************* Here you go, circa December 2013: Jeff, I'm assuming he's the owner, is a misogynistic jerk. He lies about completion dates, then tells you that you have an attitude problem because you expect him to meet it. He blames everyone and everything else but himself for not getting it done on time (or correctly). I ended up stranded in the middle of nowhere waiting for him to get around to deciding what he was going to do. Fix it? Deliver it? Give up on it? Still waiting... Oh, and it gets better - *I* have an attitude problem because I believed him when he said it would be done two days ago and got a bit upset when I found out I had to pay for a hotel and cab to wait for them. There was no yelling or even swear words (though I'd like to claw his eyes out) - but he had the nerve to tell me that I was a b**ch (yes, he called me that word) because I expected him to be done when he said he would be and had the gall to ask for a definitive time/date so that I could plan my entire life around his shifiting timeline. Shame on me. If you end up stranded in the middle of Globe, AZ - push your car to another city and find another mechanic. It'll be worth it. Trust me. ***UPDATE**** It gets even better, if you can imagine. After so long of a delay, and them being complete jerks and getting defensive and using the excuse that they're being thorough - the vehicle they "fixed" broke down after the first day and we had to rent another van to finish our job. So, major attitude issues AND crappy work. Nice combo. ******************** Now that we've gotten all of these reviews in one place, let's talk about her issues with them. Yes, they are harsh, and deservedly so. She begins by saying it was unfair that I was focusing on the condition of the office, "Not everyone lives the same lifestyle or has the same standard of living, which does not affect their ability to do a job." Are you for real? This is a BUSINESS. I was not visiting their home. I was at their place of work --- where they absolutely should put their best image forward, by definition and design. If they are unwilling/unable to even clean their office or treat it with a modicum of respect, then it directly reflects the work they will do elsewhere --- as was evident in the service I received. She goes on in several messages about how the motor was ordered, where, the timing, etc. and that I was being unreasonable in that I did not want to put my life and business on hold for their continuing excuses. What she does not go into is that I was called in to drive the van off AFTER the original driver had to leave for another gig, AFTER the engine was ordered, AFTER it was shipped, AFTER Gila said they would have it ready in two days and AFTER the second day. In flying out and picking up the van, I was doing a favor for a family member that should have taken an afternoon. It then drug out for several more days. She then goes on to say that I was most likely "cranky" and "nasty" to the people in the shop. Read my reviews. I'm honest, and I will give credit where credit is due. I am not the world's most patient person, I'll admit, but I will always be civil. Always. I never raised my voice, swore, or was rude to them. The trailer trash attitude was all them. She goes on to find me on Facebook and message me there. She tells me that I'll be on Santa's naughty list and wants me to remove the review entirely because they are nice people and go out of their way to help others. She says, "The business owner was a huge help recently in making it so I could reach out and protect a child from harm, he asked nothing, when I pushed further he asked if I could help get the negative mark off his business." Violate Yelp's TOS much? They never went out of their way to apologize or offer me a place to stay while I was far from home, alone, in a strange place, doing someone a favor on a shoestring budget. Took my 85 chevy truck in for dual exhaust. I brought in my own mufflers and exhaust cut outs. They did a great job and the price was alot cheaper then any other exhaust shop in the east valley. Great family owned shop will be back for exhaust work! read more

Took our vehicle in for work on the recommendation of a friend & after 2 weeks of no phone calls or updates on repairs, had to hunt them down to find out what was going on. Was confronted w/hostility and threats of violence because I questioned why our clean vehicle when it went in, looked like someone went mudding w/it in the hills of the Superstition Mts. And why parts of the car fender were hanging out of the side. These people need to learn how to treat customers and their property. After 2weeks of having our vehicle, no work was done and no explanation was given as to why or why they held it so long w/out fixing anything. I took my car to an honest shop. I told them what happened with Gila Muffler. I told them the 3 different stories I was told about what was wrong with my car. The first thing I suggested to Darryl was my O2 sensor. He said it was fine. Guess what it isn't. Also when I told him about the grand of work my car needed they laughed and told me it sounded like someone was trying to "soak me" for more money. I am glad I was smart enough not to listen to them. This comment is in response to MeIanie H. from Las Vegas, I messaged Melanie about her review and asked that she provide yelp readers with all of the facts about her visit to Gila Muffler. The most relevant detail she left out is that it was actually her people who purchased and had the motor shipped, any delay was a result of the purchase made by the vans owner. When the motor arrived later than expected, Melanie expected the shop to install it in one day, her personal timeline was her first priority, with no regard for the work that goes into installing and testing a used motor installation. In her review she starts by complaining about the condition of the office and the people in it. Yet when I asked her about this, she said she never mentioned that, we see above that she did. She doesn't mention that she was not the one traveling in the van for business when it broke down, she was actually called by a family member asking her to go to Arizona to pick up the van. She expressed great irritation about having to take the time to come to Arizona to pick up the van. Melanie was already irritated about having to come to Arizona to pick up the van, spend time in stinky shop, angry that the motor shipped later than expected causing a delay in the van being ready (totally out of the shops control,) she gets more upset when she has to get hotel an stay a couple more days. When the motor finally gets to the shop, she is at the end of her rope, she doesn't care that it was not the shops fault the motor arrived late, she is mad and she is taking it out on whoever is around, which was the shops employees. This might explain why the employees at the shop were short with her. In another review of the shop, she scoffs about the mechanics saying they needed more time to be thorough, she didn't allow mechanics that time, just one day and she took the van. What do you get when a mechanic says they need time be thorough and you don't allow it? You end up "broke down having to rent another van to finish your job. Melanie's review doesn't give any pertinent details about the actual repair, she doesn't say it was "USED" motor purchased by the van owner, she doesn't say that there was a delay in the motor being shipped, she doesn't mention she wasn't traveling in the van when it broke, she doesn't mention that she was already mad because she was called by family members to pick up a van that wasn't hers. There is more deception that truth to Melanie H.'s review. I have asked her to either include important details or remove the review, she has not responded after I asked her to be more truthful. read more

Darryl at this place is a good guy! Smart and always busy, but takes time to check something out. Twice I've taken my F150 in there because another chain shop said I needed something that I doubted was really needed. Both times, Darryl could have agreed with the other guys and had a nice repair bill to present to me. Instead he examined the truck, found it not needing those repairs and said, "see ya." No charge to drive the truck or hang out under the hood. I have to force a $10 into his hands for his inspection each time. I trust him and will take my truck there when it really does need a repair. Only problems: a dark stinky waiting room that is not comfortable at all, and tight parking shared with all the other auto shops there. But I go anyway! read more

I was referred to Gila Mufflers and I am so Happy I put my trust in a repair shop I went to for the 1st time. Everyone there is so friendly, always checking in on your while you are waiting n the lobby, and keeping me informed on the time frame of my car repair. I enjoyed meeting and speaking to the whole crew and office personal. I was even offered something to eat. My car was done faster than I expected, the price was fantastic for the service I received, my car rides so nice now. I can truly say If I have another car repair, I am going back to Gila Mufflers. I've been to this business seversl times and never had that kind of treatment. All I can assume is your action/s or lack of curtisy caused your treatment. They guys have gone out of their way to help me. As far as coming to haul my vehicle from Wickenburg back to their shop in AJ when the fuel pump went out. The guys had never worked on this vehicle. Its been my experience that you get what you ask for. The shop never smelled of smoke or been like you described. read more

Brought my Mercedes 2002 ML320 in today after it started making a horrible sound when I hit the gas. I was referred by the valvoline express on main. The owner and his son looked at the car about 20 min after I got there and showed me the problem. The cat converter was busted but didn't need the whole unit replaced just the place with the filter. They gave me an estimate in about 2 min and was very reasonable as I thought I'd be looking for a new car since I've spent 4k in 18 mod on the vehicle and it has over 155k miles. $188 dollars later the owner and his wife dropped the vehicle off at my office. The dealer wouldn't have replaced the problem part but would have required that I replace the whole unit, about $1400 from what I've gathered online. The owner and son were great and honest about the solution. I'd recommend them if you have any issues with muffler, etc. they also have another location in Globe.
