Oh my goodness - I can't say enough about the wonderful service I received from APA total Car Care, starting from the moment Drew answered my call. When the dreaded red triangle of death appeared on my hybrid, I first called the dealer. The receptionist was clueless and wouldn't even let me speak to a service advisor at the Gilbert & Pecos location. I was told my only option was a a $98 diagnostic fee. Then I called APA and spoke with Drew. He explained that their diagnostic fee was similar, but more importantly, walked me through a few things they would try before even going that route. The diagnostic would be a last resort. That alone made a huge difference. When I dropped the car off, he offered me a ride home. I declined and stayed nearby, but the gesture stood out. When I checked back in later, they told me the issue was something super minor - and they fixed it for under $60. Had I gone with that Toyota dealer, I would have paid the diagnostic fee, and who knows what they would have charged for the remedy. Always always read reviews...The Toyota Dealer off Gilbert Road, has reviews showing concerns about repair practices & pricing. The sales side received great reviews, the repair side faces challenges. Bottom line: Drew and APA earned my trust. If I have any future car problems, I know exactly where I'm going. Dishonest Diagnosis, Disrespectful Response -- Avoid This Shop APA Total Car Care has a "D-" rating with the BBB as of this review. Do you really want them working on your car? I brought my Tundra into APA Total Care Care (yes, it's misspelled on their invoices, diagnostics, media) for an A/C refrigerant leak diagnosis--something already confirmed by the Toyota dealer, who had added UV dye to help in the detection. I have no idea what they charged me for. It wasn't UV dye leak detection that's for sure. Instead of checking for dye or leaks, APA tried upselling me the exact same service (evacuate/recharge with dye) for 50% more--claiming the dye wasn't there. I later filmed the dye clearly visible under UV light myself. They also managed to cause damage while poking around. See the video. Their "inspection report" was just an automated upsell list, with no mention of the A/C issue I brought it in for (as shown on their own invoice). When I pressed the service manager for answers, he became aggressive. The owner's public reply on Google doubled down with personal attacks, called my wife and me "immature," and never addressed the video proof I shared. That response says more about their professionalism than I ever could. I challenged the owner to prove my wife and I were screaming and yelling, but you guessed it, there is no such evidence even though they have video cameras all over their lobby. The team at Ace is awesome! Great customer service! I was recommended from another repair shop that my suspension needed to be replaced, so I looked up Ace and found exactly what I needed. Instead of just taking what I told them someone else said, they took the time to fully asses the situation and verify that indeed my suspension needed replacement. They offered a couple of options, OEM-comparable and an upgrade solution, and the cost differentiation to give me options and involve me in the decision. (Of course I upgraded!) The turnaround time was awesome and they were even able to accommodate me being out of town for a couple of days and won't unable to pick my car up when it was done; although they had it done way ahead of my return. We have a Jeep that we haven't been able to drive for about 18 months, and kept getting the run around from several shops (from estimates of needing a new engine, to new electrical system) for a mystery mid fire on cylinder 3. We took it in to APA, and the initial diagnostic test was not giving any answers. After 3 days of inspections and not giving up; they were able to locate the issue! Best news was we did not have to replace the engine! They fixed it; and the Jeeps been running better than it was when purchased 3 years ago. Had my starter replaced by these guys and was made aware by there staff that my flywheel is cracked and needed to be changed asap. I ended up taking my car to another mechanic to inspect the starter and they told me that the starter wasn't bolted in right and was crooked. They also let me know that there is no damage to my flywheel and that APA was bullshitting about the flywheel. I had my 2019 Nissan Pathfinder serviced at the Queen Creek location. In March I had dropped it off due to smoke coming out of the exhaust. They diagnosed it and claimed it was due to overflowing oil. They did an oil change and gave me my car back telling me it was safe to drive and the issue was fixed. Now, I went to drive my car on Monday and it wouldn't start. They claim that it again was due to overflowing oil and that there was "sludge" in the engine so it needed to be replaced. I attempted to go through my warranty company but they wouldn't cover the cost. APA tried to tell me it would be $13,000 to replace the engine! I feel that they should have caught this issue in the initial evaluation yet they didn't. Now I'm out a car and they still want to charge me another $95 just for the 30 minutes it took the mechanic to "diagnose" the issue! I will never be back to this place and absolutely do NOT recommend their services! read more

I've been here a couple times with pretty good experiences, but this time was totally different. I was overcharged for new fluids engine oil, axle, diff, and trans for $1500. I had a $60 cleanable cabin air filter stolen and replaced with a paper one without requesting a cabin air filter change. They then tried selling me on a spider gear replacement for $2100. You can find these for $100-200 online. I was not given a quote at the shop, and they rushed me over the phone on what needed to be done. Waited 3 days on my car for some basic fluid changes. Took my car at the appointed time and was immediately taken care of. I needed to know if my AC was leaking Freon because it was not cooling enough. They topped it off and it was fine. They also steamed the engine to determine where an oil leak was coming from. It was discovered and it was going to be a big job. But for what they did to get my AC going and determine the source of the oil leak, it was impressive and I was happy to pay them what they charged. I took my 68 Camaro for an allingmemt and unfortunately they didn't know how to align the car. I was told when I picked it up that they did the best they could and if I were to drive it on a daily basis I would have to replace the tires every 6 months due to the wear. So I took it to another shop and they did the allingment correctly and showed me everything that APA did wrong. I called for a refund from APA and told them I'd be happy to bring the car back to show them it had now been properly aligned. (This is specifically for the Gilbert Location) Took my car in to get a crankshaft sensor fixed at this time the car ran and drive perfectly fine. Under their advisement they said it was a bad timing chain. I had them replace the timing chain then it was a bad ignition had them replace that as well. Then it was silence and after a month of having to constantly reach out to them for updates it was clear they just weren't working on my car. When they gave the car back I was told it had a check engine light but "it ran perfectly" from what I was told. Unfortunately the car died on me multiple times just trying to get it home, that's not a working car. Been nothing but patient and listening but I've been left in the dark, out money, and stuck now with a car that can't even run at least before it ran. Hopefully others have a better experience and it's just a hiccup with me, however I wouldn't recommend them. read more

after having my intercooler and charge pipes changed I started to hear what sounded like a boost leak. Took my car back to them to have them check it out for safety reasons. They looked at it for 10 mins and told me it was just my air filter making that noise. Took it to a different shop and they found the boost leak right away. Whenever ace installed my charge pipes they didn't tighten down the meth bung on the pipe to the throttle body and it came loose and was missing and leaking boost like I told them. Brought my daughters car in because AC kept going out. I had already had them change the condenser and numerous other things on a college kid car. AC would work then go out after a short period of driving. They told me "must be that the compressor is going bad b/c we just had another highlander that had this problem." Fine: do the compressor I said. Day we picked it up AC started doing the same thing now after 1000 bucks the same thing is happening and the car over heats. We have it towed back to the shop and guess what it was? The radiator the entire time. Ohh they say "it's the radiator that must be rhe problem see here it has a leak and blah blah blah. Ray said to me I'd buy the car (50% of what it's worth). I decided to take it home and put a new radiator in myself. I called back and asked to speak to the owner on multiple occasions (Sean) because I felt they did work that was not indicated. You go to a doctor and they perform a completely different surgery than you need only to later have to do another one!? I figured hey they did some work I think they should split the bill with me (ohh and they charged me to have it towed back to their place AFTER it broke down coming from their shop!) but no one ever recognized me nor cared about what happened. I won't ever go here again. This is the type of place that will tell you one thing only to run up the bill and screw you over. read more

A pretty good auto shop that offers free inspections. They're quite quick as well, as both times I went there they immediately started the inspection and gave me a quote afterwards. The shop owner seems like he's pretty on top of things as well. I like how he explains things as he goes along. I got my radiator/hoses replaced here for about $350, which is pretty reasonable.
