Highly, highly, highly reccomend Murphys Family Auto Repair!…read more I brought my car in to get a pump fixed. They ordered the part and got me in for an appt the nxt day (which was amazing!) On my way to their shop my car broke down on the side of the road and I had to have it towed to their shop. They helped me setup my tow and we're even ready to take me back to my house after check in. My alternator was bad and they ordered that part and fixed it the same time as thr scheduled 1hr pump appt. This is what sets them far apart from other auto places...I had a flight to catch and could only have my car gone for 1 day. They stayed well past their closing time of 530p to finish my car. I dropped it off around 1230p. The owner kept working on my car until 9p to accommodate my needs and was happy to do it for me. My pump system replacement on my Nissan Murano was around $350 with labor add in the alternator and I paid a little under $1500! When I was quoted 8 months ago at Big O' Tires for an alternator and labor alone, it was close to $3k! One coil needs to be replaced and he couldn't get the part so late in the night so he told me to come by whenever I could and he would replace it for free! I know it's a simple thing but again they went above and beyond so many times for me! I can't begin to describe how genuine and helpful Murphys is! From the very first contact they were 100% helpful, honest, professional, resepctful, and incredibly nice! There was no up-selling or pressure from them to use their business, which has never happened unlike other places I've been. I will definitely be going back when I need a mechanic!

This last time was really not a great experience we had dropped our car off on a Wednesday afternoon under the impression that nothing would really be assessed until Thursday which was totally understandable. We did not hear from anyone on Thursday and ended up calling ourselves in which the answer was they were running some tests. Friday rolls around and no updates or calls we called twice once in the AM and then again at closing time. At closing time I decided to call and see where we were at and asked whether we would be getting our car for the weekend. We decided to keep the car at the shop over the weekend but were told we would get a call first thing in the AM on Monday when they re-opened, which did not happen. We called around 10am and the front desk reported they were surprised we did not have our car back and would ask the technician and give us a call again no call back. We ended up calling and asking them to just fix a few minor things. We totally understand that car fixes take time but being transparent and communicative is super important, we are two working adults and had already planned on not having a second car for a few days so we had made arrangements but not having a car for 6 days is another story. We are disappointed as we really trusted this place and it was close to home, but will not be bringing our cars back here.

Yesterday my mother called this location to ask about parts because she prefers OEM on her car and…read moreSteve's daughter Shyra answered the phone and was completely rude and unhinged. This is why I always make my mother put her calls on speaker because Steve's wife(Rochelle) and daughter, for whatever reason, have a habit of lying about things and have pretty consistently bullied my elderly mother for years. So apparently the daughter lied and said that my mother cussed her out, which she would never do, so when we got here this morning Steve told my mother you can't come here anymore instead of calling her and canceling it and having the guts to do that knowing she would be driving all the way in from Flagstaff. The behavior from his family is something documented on Reddit in several threads about mechanics around Phoenix, yelp, and other parts of the Internet so it's incredibly easy to verify this information and since his wife and daughter are now answering all of the complaints posts on yelp, I'm very curious to see how they respond to my very honest review. I also have that phone call recorded so I might post it on YouTube and link to it here to expose the obvious lying by Steve's daughter and i'm taking it to another mechanic to have them look at the work that was just done on it with the water pump and timing belt to make sure it was done correctly. In the short time that I posted this review, several people reached out expressing how many problems they had at A1 auto and recommended two mechanics in Apache Junction and Mesa and I've already spoken to both on the phone and not only are their mechanics knowledgeable, but their office staff is spectacular!! I consider this a good thing because now we have better places to get car repairs done! This community on Yelp really comes together to help people when it's needed.

I then immediately called Justin and of course he fixed the problem which was not to the extent of the what the other shop suggested. After I submitted a complaint about unresolved repairs, the owner sent me this message:…read more "If anything, sir, you owe me money for your right rear door lock actuator. If you would get off your privilege high horse, you would see the situation for what it really is and not for what's convenient to you." I had been nothing but respectful, patient, and fair. This response came after the shop had already received thousands of dollars through my payments and warranty claims. Before service, I provided a detailed one-page summary, reproduction instructions, records, and videos. My liftgate would not open automatically, but it still closed correctly. The shop diagnosed failed struts and charged $1,681.77, stating that replacement would fix the problem. It did not. Afterward, the liftgate also stopped closing automatically and had to be pushed down manually, leaving it worse than before. At the first pickup, the vehicle's locking system was also worse. Before service, the vehicle could at least lock. Afterward, the passenger doors were not functioning properly and the entire vehicle would not lock. I returned three times, made nearly five trips to and from the shop, spent over $200 on Ubers, and waited there for hours. During the second visit, the mechanic and I reproduced the same originally reported problems within seconds using the instructions I had already provided. Because the first warranty claim had been closed, I was charged another $500 deductible. The front-door now creaks when closing. The owner acknowledged the noise in person, and promised to fix it but never did. The owner eventually ended the repair relationship and refused a refund for the unsuccessful liftgate repair. My complaint was about unresolved repairs and documented expenses - not anything personal. Responding with insults and a demand for more money was completely unacceptable. Based on the unresolved work, repeated inconvenience, refusal to refund the unsuccessful repair, and the owner's response, I cannot recommend this shop.
