Yesterday my mother called this location to ask about parts because she prefers OEM on her car and Steve's daughter Shyra answered the phone and was completely rude and unhinged. This is why I always make my mother put her calls on speaker because Steve's wife(Rochelle) and daughter, for whatever reason, have a habit of lying about things and have pretty consistently bullied my elderly mother for years. So apparently the daughter lied and said that my mother cussed her out, which she would never do, so when we got here this morning Steve told my mother you can't come here anymore instead of calling her and canceling it and having the guts to do that knowing she would be driving all the way in from Flagstaff. The behavior from his family is something documented on Reddit in several threads about mechanics around Phoenix, yelp, and other parts of the Internet so it's incredibly easy to verify this information and since his wife and daughter are now answering all of the complaints posts on yelp, I'm very curious to see how they respond to my very honest review. I also have that phone call recorded so I might post it on YouTube and link to it here to expose the obvious lying by Steve's daughter and i'm taking it to another mechanic to have them look at the work that was just done on it with the water pump and timing belt to make sure it was done correctly. In the short time that I posted this review, several people reached out expressing how many problems they had at A1 auto and recommended two mechanics in Apache Junction and Mesa and I've already spoken to both on the phone and not only are their mechanics knowledgeable, but their office staff is spectacular!! I consider this a good thing because now we have better places to get car repairs done! This community on Yelp really comes together to help people when it's needed. read more

I was referred by a diesel shop, wish I hadn't been. Rochelle was a nightmare to deal with. They wanted to put Duralast front end parts in my 1ton super duty rather than oem, Rochelle definitely didn't like you if you don't just ate with everything she says. Rochelle apparently doesn't think the consumer should have any input on what happens with their own vehicle. Never would I ever recommend anyone go to this place. I took my truck for regular service to the Diesel shop I use and asked them to identify a tinny, rattling noise under the truck while they were under there. They felt the muffler was causing the noise and suggested A1 to investigate further. I have been to A1 several times in the past and always had good experiences, so I made an appointment and they agreed with the other shop and replaced the muffler very quickly and at a reasonable price. Well I came back on the strength of the experience I had with this place before when they replaced my catalytic converter (no way to link it. Search for (yelp a1 muffler catalytic converter gary r.). I was so impressed at not only how fast they did it, the price, but the professionalism of the place. And I feel sick about saying the place is not much to look at in my last review!! To be honest, who cares? For me, this place is now my favorite place to take my Jeep. Definitely a diamond in the rough! I had all sorts of issues underneath my 1998 Jeep Cherokee baby and had them do their 22-point inspection. Well, the price tag was rather high for what I was expecting, but man did they go after my issues. Two full pages of issues, from front end differential, seals front and back, spark plugs and wires, and rotor, and a mess of other stuff. They got it all done in two days and man does my baby feel like new! They are busy, very busy, and do not stop to talk shop. I respect that! Yet when I picked her up they were over-the-top with helpful advice and technical details of what was done. They even stayed after to give me an alignment to make sure all the new gear was happy. Great people here, and you cannot go wrong with this place. They did exactly what they said they would do and charged me an extremely fair price. The mechanics are awesome! I found absolutely no rudeness here. I will be coming back for anything I need done, including the 3" lift I have been wanting to do! I just wish it did not take me 21 years (my baby is that old) to find this place! And I want to also add that the front end staff was friendly and very helpful. A1 muffler is a great mechanic to do business with. My car broke down on the side of 60 east bound. I hobbled to the first Mecanic I found which was a1 muffler. I have never been here before but within seconds the owner made me feel rite at home. My alternator went bad and I had to have my battery recharged. I also ask if they would change my serpentine belt while I was there. They gave me a fair price and had me back on the road in a jiffy. I would have been willing to pay more bc I was stranded but they treat me like a family member. Please be advised that although it looks like one big auto business it's not. After taking my Jeep to Gila muffler and radiator and spending almost $700 for a exhaust replacement that only lasted about 2 months, I took my vehicle to A-1 where I should've gone in the 1st place, I paid a little more than I did at Gila but you get what you pay for ! Called on Tuesday night with an urgent request to get my Jeep in for some much-needed repairs before the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. This effectively meant that all the work would need to be completed the next day - Wednesday. Not only did they squeeze me in without much notice, the work they did was top-notch and VERY reasonably-priced. For right around $500 (including all parts and labor), they did the following work on my faithful 1998 Jeep Cherokee: -Performed a comprensive maintenance inspection on all vehicle systems -Removed and replaced both front shocks -Removed and replaced cracked motor mounts -Removed and replaced worn sway bar bushings -Tested, removed and replaced faulty battery -Removed loose/damaged skid plate, custom-welded new mounting brackets, and reinstalled skid plate -Removed, balanced, rotated, and re-mounted all four tires They also noticed that the rear main (oil) seal was starting to develop a leak, as was one of the radiator seals. Rather than recommending that these be fixed immediately, though, they asked me to simply keep an eye on them and to replace them when the leaks become problematic down the road. Very honest appraisal of the situation and a totally pressure-free conversation. Very impressed with A-1's professionalism, high-quality workmanship, and prompt service. The Jeep has never been driving better, and I will certainly be taking it back to A-1 for service for many years to come. read more

A1 is going to be my go to guy for auto repairs from now on. My car broke down and I coded it at auto zone and knew what was wrong with it and that I probably couldn't repair it myself so I called several mechanics near me. I was given a quote over the phone for about $1400 to diagnose it and fix it. I took it to A1 without a quote over the phone instead because they had great reviews and seemed honest and affordable. They fixed my car for less than $850 and had it done the same day I gave them the go ahead to do the work. In fact they must've got to work on it pretty much right away because it was done within a couple hours of how long I knew the work should take.
