Jake was great for multiple reasons. He responded promptly and communicated well. The next good part was that Jake listened thoroughly to my issue, which was an intermittent electrical issue shutting down my dash electronics for just a moment on longer trips and asked the appropriate questions to try to determine what might be the root cause. Cutting to the really great part, Jake started with the basics and called me back out to my garage just a few minutes later and told me that he had found that my positive battery cable was a little loose and that was very likely the issue. Of course I was embarrassed because I had installed that battery myself about six months ago and apparently hadn't tightened it enough. Also embarrassed because I had checked the negative terminal thinking it might be a loose ground but didn't bother to check the other cable less than a foot away. Of course the truly great part is that in less than 15 minutes, I know I found a great trustworthy mechanic for any future needs because he could have tightened it, then spent two hours just hanging out in my garage and then let me know that he found some loose ground somewhere. Instead, he charged me appropriately, discussed that we could keep looking but that was very likely the cause, and to call him immediately if the issue came back. It's always difficult to find a good, honest mechanic, especially for women. Fortunately, there are still a few out there, and Jake is one of them. When I was asking for quotes this time around, another mechanic quoted a price slightly less than Jake's, but when we started talking about making an appointment, he told me that price was for labor only, and he claimed it would take THREE HOURS to complete the job. I double-checked with Jake about his price: his quote was for both parts and labor, and when he did the work, it only took him ONE hour. I don't want to name names, but this other person's company starts with "T." Talking to Jake about your car's problems is like talking to a family friend. He took the time to discuss options with me, gave me honest prices and respected my choices, then completed the job quickly and thoroughly. I scheduled service with Jake to get coilovers installed on my 2013 Lexus LS460. Jake was professional and great with communication on appointment time and what he was doing as he worked through it. It was a very positive experience and he showed he cared about the specifics of what I was looking for. I recently upgraded to 22 in wheels from 20's and didn't like the change in ride height, wanting to lower my vehicle between an inch and a half to two inches. Not only did he take the time to work through the adjustments I wanted, (cant tell you how many times he willingly took the wheels off and put them back on to make sure I was satisfied) but was able to teach me quite a bit along the way. Called Jake to get AC diagnosed and then serviced on two primary vehicles. He diagnosed and then serviced as needed, and they are both now ready for summer. Also had him replace an oil sending unit on an '03 Avalanche, which he completed in no time at all. Finally had him diagnose a '93 Corvette that was in the garage and wouldn't start. By systematically analyzing, and using process of elimination, he was able to resolve the issue and save me money by avoiding replacing parts that did not need to be replaced.
