Stopped by for lunch at the bar and really enjoyed the food. Started off with a Caesar salad, which was delicious and had the spicy rigatoni for the main entree. The pasta was cooked to perfection. Al dente, sauce was flavorful and that ricotta made it perfect!

Another amazing and memorable dinner at Gibsons Italia, this time celebrating our anniversary. Service and wait staff was unparalleled and did everything to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Very attentive and friendly people who go the extra mile to make this a cut above a normal restaurant experience. The meal was another star. Ribeye cut was a must order. The char and finishing salt made this one of the best steaks in the city, even rivaling the lauded Bavette's. The Brussels sprouts are a must order. Probably best I've ever had. Chicken Parmesan a comfort mainstay and comes with a side of the spicy rigatoni. Finally the risotto was delicious, creamy, and hearty. Huge umami profile with it. We were so stuffed so didn't order dessert there but ordered one to go - the banana gelato. The staff packed it very nicely for transport so it wouldn't melt. This one is also a must order, especially for banana lovers. Soooooo good. Thanks again Gibsons Italia for treating us like royalty and like family! Amazing experience.

Had an amazing dinner at Gibsons Italia. We started with the Garlic Focaccia Bread with parmesan fonduta insanely soft and flavorful. The 7-Year Aged Acquerello Risotto with sea scallops was incredible, and the Spicy Rigatoni with vodka sauce was a nice addition. I also had the NY Strip, which was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Japanese gin cocktail I ordered was excellent too. The vibe felt elevated without being pretentious, and the service was top notch all night. Honestly loved everything so much that I barely remembered to take pictures.

Came here for dinner while in town. Table Was ready and sat on the third floor with a good window view. Nice ambiance. Service was prompt. Ordered bread, Ceaser salad and meatballs to start. All very good. Entrees were good as well. Salmon, Brazino and Pasta with Vodka sauce. Banana Gelato was very good as well. Prices as expected.

We came in without a reservation on Thursday night last week with three young kids and all the chaos that comes with that, and Amanda, the manager, was incredible. Even though the restaurant was super packed and clearly very busy, she was so calm, kind, and accommodating. She made us feel genuinely welcome and helped make the whole evening work for us. We're so grateful to her, because what could have been a stressful dinner ended up being a really wonderful experience. The food was delicious across the board - sides, pastas and the steak was especially outstanding. We'll absolutely be back, and Amanda is a big reason why. Thank you, Amanda!

Food was overall really good but our favorite part was the view of the city from the restaurant. They were pretty busy so food did take awhile to come but tasted great. We weren't rushing either, nice place to sit and enjoy the city

Came here for dinner and honestly everything hit. The focaccia garlic bread was SO good warm, fluffy, and super garlicky. We kept reaching for "one more piece" and basically finished it right away. I ordered the rigatoni and asked if they could swap the vodka sauce for regular tomato sauce and they didn't hesitate at all. It was simple but really fresh and comforting, exactly what I wanted. Service was great and the whole place just feels nice without being stuffy. Perfect date night or celebration spot. Definitely coming back.

This place is delicious! The staff is very attentive and the views of the Chicago skyline are beautiful. The steak was well seasoned and perfect cooked. The octopus was delicious. The highlight of the night was the banana gelato. It was mind blowing.

From the stunning view to the exceptional service, our experience was delightful. The food is consistently outstanding and we tried to save room for desert... Must make reservations to avoid long waits!

I felt so special celebrating my birthday at Gibsons Italia! A beautiful dining space with outstanding food and service. There are so many options on the menu, it was hard to decide but I recommend trying a bit of everything. Also might be the best sprouts I've had in the city.

Went here for a company dinner so we got the rooftop. BEAUTIFUL view of the river with the chicago skyline - gorgeous! The food was Delightful!!! Really yummy italian food -- my chicken parm was HUGE! we also got great sides of cacio e pepe (to go with the chicken) and also mashed potatos. The star of the show was the brussell sprouts for me, they were SO good!!! Service was pretty good as well :) This is a place for great food, views, esp if you're into italian!! Highly recommend.

So we finally decided to head to Gibsons Italia. We had heard so many good things from so many people but for some reason didn't get to visit so far. First impressions when we walked in. Very courteous staff and we were seated at the best seat in the house - overlooking the river! From the get-go we knew we wanted the chicago cut so we planned to get the charred broccolini salad and the charred artichoke to try the veggie options. Paired all of that with a rose for me and my hubby got the limoncello spritz. The charred artichoke was the first thing that arrived, with the lemon and capers aioli. It was easily the best artichoke dish I've had. Crispy, creamy goodness. The broccolini salad was fresh and herby and had the perfect crunch with the sliced apples. The rose and spritz balanced the apps perfectly. Finally came the chicago cut, a beautiful, well marbled cut of ribeye which was everything we thought it would be. It comes with a charred garlic and onion on the side which were a great addition of the steak. Highly recommend! We ended the meal with their famous banana gelato which was sumptuous!! In summary, great meal, great views, great service and a perfect cut of steak!!

Came by for a work dinner and was very impressed. All the steak cuts we order was great. Everyone was happy. Apps are plenty and but th best was the octopus. Bread could be better. That would be my only complaint. Service was phenomenal as Moses knew exactly what we wanted and when and adjusted to our needs. The decor is modern dark but roomy. Desserts were also great. Everything was great. Would recommend. But know that it's pricey.

Does this place do valet parking or is there a parking area?

Valet only. Good luck with street parking

Can i bring my own wine?

Of course not! Why would you want to save money by bringing wine to a place that is one of the best steakhouses in the world?

    Is this place kids friendly?

Yes, but it's a little loud for young kids, the food itself can be kid friendly, but it's a rather busy and loud hot spot. I would say yes for sure in the afternoon before prime dining hours

What time does dinner service begin?

They told me 3pm. So that's when I made the reservation for, but don't suggest that as they sat us in the downstairs area without the view. Instead of upstairs with the good view. Make later if possible.

    Is there a happy hour?

    Sadly no

What is the lunch time dress code?

I do not know if they have any formal rules, but I would say nice casual. Not suit jacket and tie, but nice pants and clean shirt for men. Sadly, it's difficult for me to suggest how a lady should dress.

Do they offer any Gluten-free options?

    Gluten free pasta

What time is lunch and what time is dinner served?

I don't think they close in between Best food ever!

    Is their patio heated?

They have freestanding heaters but it is still totally open air and subject to the weather. Dress in layers!

Does the 34 oz Tomahawk steak actually 34 oz of meat or is the bone included?

Industry standard is the bone + meat = advertised/menu weight for bone in steaks. All advertised weights are also pre-cooked weights. Enjoy your meal!!!

What is considered dressy attire for men?

My husband wore black dress pants and a button-down shirt and seemed to be perfect. It was anywhere from casual (short sleeves and jeans) to some wearing blazers. A button-down collared shirt and slacks are more than enough. :)

    Is this place vegetarian friendly?

I don't know about vegan, but they have a number of vegetarian pasta dishes with oil-based and meat-free red sauces.

    Do they have gluten-free pasta?

Yes they do. You can substitute it into any listed pasta preparation you want.

    Is there boat parking?

    No.

When is the first day opening?

    October 23rd

It was excellent * Their fried calamari with two dipping sauces which was also very good and filling. * A light pale pilsner that (again) was very good paired excellently with my order. My favorites were the crab cake, Cobb salad, and short rib. The crab cake was very soft and had a nice texture to it. It was one of the best crab cakes I've eaten. The Cobb salad was also very light and shareable. The short rib main course was very tender, and it came with crispy potatoes as well. Some of the other items such as the Philly cheesesteak and Asian tacos were just ok. They were also both very small in quantity relative to their price. The desserts were magnificent as well, especially the deconstructed key lime pie and sticky toffee pudding. Both of them were phenomenal. The service throughout my meal was excellent. We really admire Jose's philanthropic work and want to love his restaurants but truth be told, if you forget about the glitzy decor, the food is just average. We tried several appetizers; the Hamachi Cone, Caviar Cone, Asian Taco, Neptune's Pillows, Shrimp Cocktail and Iberico Jamon. We also shared a bottle of Cava. Everything was fine but to be frank the Shrimp Cocktail was the best thing we ate, simple and perfectly fresh. The service was pushy, when a server wants to take you order less than 3 minutes after sitting down, it feels like you're on a conveyor belt. We felt the prices were way out of line, with tip I spent almost $500 for a bottle of cava and appetizers for two people, for that, the food should have been more memorable. We spent the same amount for two off us to have the 12 course tasting menu at Atsumeru a couple of weeks ago and Bar Mar's food isn't in the same league. We will continue to financially support Jose's World Kitchen but not his restaurants.

Luke's Lobster has their thing and they do their thing flawlessly - getting a Lobster Roll with Clam Chowder Soup here is ALWAYS a good move.

They offer personalized menus therefore I requested one with the reservation. When I arrived I noted two menus behind the hostess stand but they were labeled and neither with my husband's name. I asked the hostess if there was a menu for my husband. She looked up the reservation, said "no and it's probably too late to make one". (Although we were half an hour early having drinks at the bar.) Then she stated that they had a generic birthday menu that they could give him with no attempts to try and provide what was requested ahead of time. We were sat at an extremely small table and he was provided a regular menu which was given to him per the directive of said hostess. The manager came to the table to greet us as I'm assuming the sever was behind. I spoke to him about the menu and he asked if I made the request along with the reservation and I told him that I did. He said that he needed to verify. After doing so he came back and agreed that I had and said happy birthday to my husband and offered us a half a glass of "bubbly" which we reluctantly accepted. Then everyone went on as if nothing happened. We didn't receive an apology. There was no offer to satisfy us in any other way. (A decent table upgrade would have been nice,) Then I see the same glass of champagne wing offered to another couple celebrating a birthday while sitting in a large booth. There was a large table next to us with a couple celebrating an anniversary. Then a younger couple came in and was told to choose a table wherever they would like. The food was great. The wait staff was excellent but I did not appreciate the way we were treated. I don't want to say it was racism but I was made to feel... different. Side note. I visited Maple and Ash (a sister restaurant) in Arizona for my birthday a couple of years ago. They printed the menu for me but spelled my name wrong. When it was mentioned it was immediately corrected. That's why I'm so confused as to what the big deal was.

It'd love to come back and try the burger on the regular menu because the slider felt like such a good sample! The meat was cooked perfectly and the pickles + sauce used was great. I opted to grab the bubbles on HH and enjoyed it. The bartenders and host were both really nice. It was easy to snag a bar seat. The whole place was so cutely decorated for Christmas and the Christmas music in the background was a nice touch to feel the holiday spirit.

My husband got the special. We can't recall what kind of fish it was, but it was from Lake Michigan and FRESH! Mine was served with whipped potatoes, while his came with risotto. Both were delightful. Our server, Jake, was knowledgeable and funny. We appreciated his willingness to allow us to try a few wines before making a decision. I wish we had room to try the cookie skillet he recommended. I loved the ambiance: dimly lit, no televisions, cozy booths. Romantic and calm -- exactly what I was looking for after a long, touristy day!
