Food was excellent. We were a group of 6 and had 5 different items and everything was great. Portions were satisfying. From the moment we came in the front door, the service was above and beyond. Probably the best I ever experienced in Lancaster or anywhere. Everyone was on the same page. Very impressive. Ambience, very attractive however it was loud and echoey in the back dining area. Great atmosphere, great service, food was delicious. Oysters were good (not great) on the night that we visited but overall quality of food was excellent. We were so surprised by the portions too. Classy restaurant with an upscale vibe. Our hostess was an attractive young woman who was friendly and had a great smile. The service was stellar! Our server was professional knew the menu inside and out and was accommodating with all our questions regarding the menu. Now, to the food, I ordered oysters 3 different types that were just splendid! Great tray with fresh lemons to squeeze on top and/or cocktail sauce and/or a vinegary onion red dipping sauce that was delish. Ordered the scallions, they were good on presentation, great on taste but waay to small on portions, I was thinking they were going to bigger in size for the price we paid. While we dined, we also had two of our kids (sons) w/ us, 2 &1/2 & 8 yrs old. Our waiter was very understanding when it came to making slight adjustments to our kids meals. Overall super good restaurant for our seafood cravings. (the calamari with wasabi type sauce was fantastic!) I would highly recommend this establishment when visiting PA & if you are lucky to be living in the area of this restaurant even more power to ya! read more

For an excellent meal in Lancaster, PA, Gibraltar is absolutely the best choice. The food is consistently excellent, the waiters are well-trained and the service is spot-on. Seafood is the standout here - the shrimp are always cooked perfectly, and the other seafood dishes are all prepared beautifully. But you can't go wrong with anything else on the menu - from the juice burger to the melt-in-your-mouth filet. Appetizers are also terrific - and there are always a few specials that are definitely worth trying. You can't get a better meal in Lancaster. read more

Came to this place for a little date night! It was really good. The service was outstanding! We started with the mussels in a curry sauce and the seasonal butternut squash ravioli. They both were so good! Moving on to the main my boyfriend got the gnocchi with the short rib ragu it was to die for! I got the lobster fettuccine which is the only reason I am giving this place four stars.. it was very subpar surprisingly. Full of butter it was the only thing I tasted. My boyfriend felt bad and switched plates with me! But overall a very good experience and I will be returning to try something new! read more

Had a 545 reservation, seated right away. Waiter asked if this was a special occasion. Told him it was a birthday. Service at this point very good. As the time went on restaurant was busy. The waiter had tables inside and outside. Obviously too much to handle. We got our food, it was good . We finished and nobody offered us water in our empty glasses or cleared dishes. I said something to the waiter about the service. He sent over a gentleman that was very arrogant. Asked did we have problems and didn't even wait to hear our response. He immediately said it was a very busy restaurant and if we wanted good service we should have asked for a private room. Totally unacceptable and very rude. They never did anything about the birthday. Very disappointing to say the least, but the owner was definitely in the wrong business read more

We never tried the food because we were treated rudely by Sal at the "greeting" station. We reserved an outdoor table but then asked if there was any availability at that early hour (5:00pm) for an indoor table. A rude and inhospitable response was the result. Ultimately and reluctantly he sat us down in a room with not another table occupied. The waiter promptly provided us with the wine lists. We were still so upset with how we were treated that we decided to leave and spend our hard earned money elsewhere and told Sal why we were not staying and would not return. The food might be exceptional but it would have been hard to digest after that initial and inhospitable exchange. read more

The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere, is very clean and well maintained. We were cheerfully greeted and promptly seated. Michael, our server, was very pleasant and attentive. He was patient and was able to describe the menu offerings clearly. Another server delivered our appetizer, which had not been prepared as we requested. Before I was able to say something, Michael was there and immediately apologized, taking the dish away. The Pork Belly and Bacon Wrapped Scallops (without the glaze per our request) looked great. The protiens were flavorful, perfectly prepared. We had requested the dressing on the side for our salad (we bring our own organic olive oil). The kitchen also messed this up. It looked great, we decided to keep it as it was served. Very fresh and flavorful. We enjoyed two different entrees, both were fillets with well matched sides. Like the appetizer, the presentation was very appetizing. Everything was seasoned to highlight the food, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The chefs unique preparations of each component were visually appealing and very appetizing. If not for the two special requests being missed, would have been a 5 star evening. read more

We had a really excellent meal here back in October. I was not comfortable dining indoors due to the pandemic, so we selected a table on their outdoor patio. Despite the cold temperatures, their heating lamps were actually surprisingly powerful! It was a lot cozier than I thought it would be. My filet was cooked perfectly and since I have some allergies, the staff replaced the mashed potatoes with roasted fingerlings and then gave me a side of steamed green beans. Everything was delicious. Their dessert menu looked incredible, but we were too full. I'm unsure if I'll be back in Lancaster anytime soon, but I was thoroughly impressed and would recommend this place for dinner if you will be visiting. read more

The Good- I enjoyed my unique margarita, and I was waited on very quickly (I sat at the bar). While the truffle fries were tasty...they were somewhat soggy. I also liked the wine selection. The Bad - I have never eaten such a dry, tough, no taste shrimp cocktail...they had to have been very old (I felt like I was chewing on corrugated cardboard). I ordered a salad with pomegranate and goat cheese. There were literally 5 pomegranate "seeds" and one teaspoon of goat cheese on a bed of greens (10.00). I was offered no bread, although the people next to me got a basket with their soup. I asked for extra garlic dipping sauce for the truffle fries-never got it. Never offered dessert. The Ugly - the check! I ate at Ruths' Chris in Philly on Tuesday (Caesar salad, filet mignon, and two drinks) for LESS than the salad, fries, and shrimp cocktail at Gibralter - their prices are outlandish for what they serve. The absolute ugly was waking up with horrible stomach pain in the early a.m. hours with something that had to be associated with what I ate because I hadn't eaten anything else that day. 3-4:00 a.m. was not fun. I had been looking forward to trying this restaurant because I love fine dining...with the open ceiling and stark furnishings, I felt as though I was eating in an unfinished manufacturing facility. If you're looking for a unique drink menu, go...but beyond that, there are so many better upscale choices in the Lancaster area. read more

I travel often to PA, usually once a week or so as my father is in a nursing home in Lititz, so unwinding after a visit is important to me. I tend to go to a few usual places and wanted to break out to something different this time. One of my last visits was to a Thai place and I noticed another restaurant across the way and felt it would be more conducive to us. My friend forgot to make the reservation, on a Friday no less, and so we went as a walk in. The place was packed and quite busy and we could see everyone moving at a maximum to handle the capacity. We sat outside as it was a beautiful night and before long we were greeted, got water, bread and a cocktail order in. After our order was taken, we both reflected on how bustling this place was, even the manager was jumping in to help out (as a good manager should do) to handle the flow of business. Our food came, longer than anticipated, but clearly in line for the volume of diners they had. We were not in a hurry and the food was delicious! We had some seafood from the raw bar menu - some of the best I've had, a lobster fettuccine with one of the best sauces I have EVER had on anything and a few other smaller items that were also fantastic. Even the bread was incredible, and I'm not a bread eater. I am very grateful to be able to go out and eat again and for the most part I understand that when a place is busy, we have to build in longer wait times in our expectations - if it's not busy, that's a different story. This is my second time in . . The first time was great. It was all adults and we loved the wine selection and the seafood special of the night. However, the second time was even better. We decided to come in for the Sunday brunch. I bravely brought my family here to celebrate my mom's birthday but that meant we had 3 kids under 5 with us. The restaurant was so great with our group. We were in the private room and so the kids were not bothering anyone. We started with a a few plates of mushrooms and fried green tomatoes. The mushrooms were so flavorful and probably our favorite. All our omelets were perfectly done and so great. The kids loved the spaghetti and their chocolate milk. Shout out the our waiter, Graham who was so patient with us and even was teaching my niece how to multiply. After the kids left for nap time he even took time to talk wines with us. Everyone was super pleased with my choice of restaurants. Great staff and food. Please keep up the great work. read more
