Over the last year or so everything about Kyma was going downhill. Thats all changed under the new ownership. The menus are no longer stained with spilled food or drink, the staff are back to the standard that was established when Kyma opened (yes, some have been terminated) and most importantly, the food was great. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by our food during our visit. We were seated in an area which was too cold, although we were there early in the evening, the server reported that a long litany of dishes and specials were not available or sold out. My wife had the scallop dinner, while they were large and tender, they were WAY over salted and seasoned to the point of being inedible! I had the stuffed flounder. While the flounder was nicely prepared, the lobster stuffing was way over salted too, which ruined the dish. We couldn't finish the rather pricey dishes because of that. When we complained politely to the server, she offered her apologies, but nothing more. While the server was polite and very nice, and the drinks were delicious, we were very disappointed in the food. We will not be going there again. read more

We arrived around 6pm on a Friday night and the Dock was busy, but we were able to immediately get a table for 2. Fortunately, the wind/sun shades were down so we had a nice outdoor dining temp even though it was a little windy/chilly with temps in the upper 60's. Our waitress was helpful and explained that it was a busy night so the kitchen was backed up, but that was to be expected-the parking lot was pretty full so I could tell Kyma n Johnny's were probably busy inside. We enjoy eating outside so the Dock is a nice option. Our meals were good. The lobster bisque is fabulous. Nice chunks of lobster and flavorful. I also enjoyed the coconut shrimp with a great dipping sauce. My husband ate all of his patty melt and shared some onion rings which were tasty. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because it was very loud. It definitely wasn't a quiet evening at the Dock. The owners can't control traffic, but the High Steel traffic plus rigs, motorcycles, etc on 272 added to the noise of the bar area. Another must on my list of places to eat at when in PA visiting the in-laws. (also helps that they're regulars here and at Johnny's). Had an early-ish dinner here at "the Dock" with the family and loved everything. From the nice deck ambiance to the super attentive and friendly staff to the absolutely amazing food, there's nothing here not to love. Steaks are delicious and cooked to perfection, crab cakes are incredible as are the scallops. Honestly there's nothing here that ive tried that i didnt love. Even the kids really enjoyed their chicken fingers and cheese quesadillas. read more

This is an update of an earlier review. We've been going to this restaurant for years. I have taken business associates and customers here for dinner but that is now a thing of the past. Last night we tried to eat at The Dock, but we had 7 people and they refused to put two tables together. We then went inside and were told we couldn't order from the Dock menu. This was never the case before. The Manager on duty said we would never have been able to order from the Dock menu. We know this was not the case. She was confrontational and only proceeded to make the situation worse. I had a burger and a beer, my wife had a salad, and my daughter had salmon with garlic mashed potatoes. The food was ordinary. The service was slow and the restaurant on a Friday night was not crowded. We will be going elsewhere. I'm afraid this formerly good business will be ruined. read more

Here is a list of issues I observed: No bread plates The salad had several pieces of brown rusty lettuce The booth seats had big holes in them. Server left dirty dishes on the table The beer I ordered at the beginning of the meal didn't come until I was done eating. She was fantastic and definitely deserves a shoutout here. Mackenzie was not only professional and attentive, but her friendly and genuine personality really stood out. She took great care of us, served everything promptly, and made sure we were happy throughout the meal. She took the time to chat with us and offer thoughtful recommendations--thanks to her, I tried the Key lime pie, and I'm so glad I did! We've been loyal Kyma customers for over eight years, visiting several times each year specifically for their great seafood. Unfortunately, our anniversary dinner this past Monday was the most disappointing experience we've ever had there. I had checked Google to make sure they were open, but didn't realize the Monday menu would be completely different. Had I known, we absolutely would have chosen another night. The Monday night menu has very little seafood--far below the standards we've come to expect over nearly a decade. It was mostly sandwiches, with crab cakes being the only real seafood option. Yes, they had some fried items, but that's not what Kyma is known for, nor what we go there to enjoy. I had been looking forward all day to oysters, a lobster tail, and my usual filet Oscar. Instead, we found out they had no oysters and no lobster available. Even dinner rolls weren't offered because, as the waitress told us, they "don't turn on the ovens on Mondays." She also mentioned they only run four staff members on Mondays, which explains the limited menu--but frankly, begs the question: If you aren't going to offer the Kyma experience, why open on Mondays at all? My filet came with fries for $39. We added a dinner salad. The total bill came to $91, and I can confidently say it was nowhere near a $91 meal. After 8+ years of consistently good experiences, this one hurt. It might be a while before we return, and we'll definitely be looking at other restaurants for special occasions moving forward. I'll also be sharing this experience with friends and family so they don't make the same mistake. If you're thinking of going to Kyma--do not go on Mondays. And to Kyma: if Mondays can't offer the true Kyma menu, please consider staying closed. It's better than disappointing long-time patrons who expect the quality you've built your name on. read more

First time at Kyma and it was definitely a good impression. Our waitress, Nylah, was so kind and personable. She always checked up on us and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered Snow Crab legs and sirloin steak. All food was delicious and worth coming here for dinner. The atmosphere also makes for a good date night if you're looking for that type of vibe! I love that when we ordered a martini, they gave us the shaker. Very different than most places. I do recommend trying this place if you're in the area! read more

Came here for lunch to celebrate a retirement. Nice hostess and server. Our table ordered: French onion soup-tasty but I like a richer broth, steamed shrimp-large, tender and nicely seasoned, lemon chicken soup (daily special)-husband loved it, fish and chips-3 large pieces with fries and slaw: the diner liked it. I thought fries were not hot enough, broiled seafood platter- came out in a smallish round baking dish. All portions were on the small side, in my opinion. The fish got good reviews, but our diner reported the crab cake/crab on the stuffed shrimp was good, but not as good as they've had other places. 2 desserts ordered: apple crisp: fresh peeled apples, softened and served with a butter/sugar oat topping-very sweet; I did not care for it, hubby said it was ok. The carrot cake was very good! Our server, Izzy was attentive and apologized for a delay in getting food out. It was not terribly crowded on a Friday at 3:00, so not sure what that was about. She comped a dessert for the wait, which was very thoughtful, especially as she knew this was our 1st visit. Overall, everything was good and a few things were very good. The price point felt a little high for what you got. The place has a bar and 2 indoor rooms for dining. It was clean and comfortable. A pretty solid lunch for a special reason. read more

My husband and I have been to Kyma many times through out the years. We have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Recently, we went there for dinner and were disappointed. The mussel appetizer was decent, but extremely gritty, and had a lot of mussels. But, neither of our dinners had much flavor. VERY bland. I had stuffed founder and he had a crab cake. The flounder and crab stuffing literally had NO flavor. My husband said the crab cake was bland. It's not an inexpensive restaurant so we expect the food to be good. Service was good, our waitress was very nice and attentive. My husband had originally ordered the fried oysters but, after our appetizer, we were told the restaurant was out of oyster (and clams). Bottom line- we do not recommend this restaurant and will probably not go back until we start to see good reviews again. Also, the restaurant is on the pricier side so you would expect the patrons to be better dressed. So many men with baseball and cammo hats on. People in sweatshirts and sweat pants. read more

It wasn't crispy; it was like someone dipped wet cardboard in superglue and let it set for a week. And the chips? Oh, the chips. Not golden, hand-cut wonders. No, sir. CRINKLE FRIES. They had the audacity to serve me what looked like they'd fished it out of the bottom of a bag from aisle 12 of the frozen food section. I don't know if they even bothered to fry them--might as well have been thawed out with a hair dryer. But the pièce de résistance of horror wasn't my dish; it was my daughter's chicken soup. Let's just say it's the only time I've seen soup fight back. The chicken wasn't just raw--it was practically clucking in the bowl, bobbing around like it was contemplating escape. She took one look, poked it with her spoon, and said, "Mum, I think it's still alive." It was a soup so traumatic I'm considering enrolling her in therapy. Would I recommend it? Usually very delicious and we leave very full. They have a good drink menu, seasonal menu, and regular menu. You can order off the Johnnys menu as well. Tip: highly recommend making a reservation. This last time I was very disappointed in the shrimp penne in vodka sauce because the shrimp were not deveined and they were massively filled if you know what I mean. Because they were in vodka sauce it was so messy to try and clean the shrimp, so I ended up only eating like two shrimp. Everything else was very delicious. The soups were so amazing and flavorful. They recently changed hands & the quality changed too. We got shrimp cocktails & sirloin burgers (take out) & they were horrible. The quality of the meat declined & we ordered one with American cheese & one with provolone. Instead, we got a mix of both cheeses on both burgers. The biggest disappointment were the shrimp. Their quality has plummeted. They were over cooked, shriveled up & looked & tasted like farm raised shrimp. I almost failed to mention that the roll the sirloin burgers came on were stale. I had wanted to visit for some time, but this was my first visit. I had the broiled tilapia, asparagus, and a baked potato , all of which were good. My friend had the ribeye steak, which was huge! They weee busy, but our server was nice & attentive. For dessert I had the key lime pie. I was not really impressed with it. I think it's better when it's a slice of a larger pie. Went to Kyma for dinner Saturday night. I ordered the crab soup and it was not what I expected. I had as an app the Crab meat cocktail the jumbo lump crap was excellent and very large but it did not meet my expectation. It was served with cocktail sauce and some other dip that I could not tell what the sauce was. For my entree I ordered mahi mahi with tropical sauce and asparagus. The asparagus was under cooked and the Mahi Mahi was over cooked and very dry. The tropical sauce was just chopped up pieces of tropical fruit not a sauce. I will not return to Kyma again. read more

First off waitress was pleasant and our experience started off well thanks to her. We ordered seafood nachos as an app. They are a large portion and we're decent. Could use a little less cheese, but add some tomatoes and lettuce. I ordered chicken Oscar and a side of mashed and a salad. For $29 it should be served hot. Not lukewarm with cold Hollandaise sauce. The waitress offered to take it back, but my thought is if I'm paying for a meal to be served hot, it should come out hot on first serve and shouldn't need "reheated". I understand the cook is usually busy, but going out to eat I expect hot food. Other party had haddock that was soaked in butter. So butter was all that was really the flavor. My family and I were in the area after visiting the local orchard. We called and ahead and were told no wait. There's ample parking, so finding a space shouldn't be an issue. The hostess was a young girl who was very kind, but I felt bad that she was running around like a nut while the servers left their tables a mess. She had to constantly wipe down tables to seat the two parties in front of us. She apologized over and over for us having to wait. As someone in the industry, I'd like to know where teamwork exists? Our server was so nice! She was quick to greet us and bring us anything we needed. She made great suggestions and answered the few questions we had. My husband enjoyed his old fashioned while my filthy martini was made with perfection. We started with oysters which were a special and they were AMAZING! The size was awesome and flavorful. We also ordered the boom boom shrimp, which were good, but they weren't "hot." The kids meals were huge and both of my kids enjoyed it. My husband and I ordered the broiled seafood combo. I thought it was okay, but too much butter and not much seasoning. The potatoes were hot and tasty. I also enjoyed the fact that they served a healthy side salad and the dressing was excellent! Mediocre at best. Maybe one step above Red Lobster. we had Calamari App, Fish and Chips and the Fried Seafood Platter. All seafood except for the crab cake was frozen. we asked the waitress if the haddock was freshly breaded there, she indicated yes but there's no way haddock (which was the fish and chips and on the seafood platter ) was fresh because every single piece total of 5 were all the exact same size. I have had fresh fish and chips and believe me it does not look like that. The calamari, shrimp and scallops were tough and rubbery. The side of garlic mashed potatoes which the waitress forgot when she served the dinner and brought out about 10 minutes later was so salty it was not eatable. Will not be returning. The place was busy even at 5:00pm. I guess its the only place in town and people just don't know any better. read more

Went here last evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were very excited to try a restaurant we drive by regularly and see always busy. The hostess ans waitress were extremely polite and friendly. The food, however, has A LOT to be desired. Luke warm at best, not much flavor at all. Fried fish was very soggy and wet on the inside- very unappealing and truly gross. The soup was the only thing I can honestly say was edible and flavorful. Inside was extremely dark and very hard to see each other at a booth. While we're glad we took the chance, this is definitely a facility we will never be returning to. read more
