I have been here numerous times and recommend it. The food and service are always excellent. It definitely is a 5 Star restaurant.

New owner is absolutely horrible! Followed us out to the car because the tip wasn't to his standards even though it was buffet , he doesn't have the decency to answer emails and told us to not come back, I hope he sells it to someone who knows how to treat customers read more

Stouch's Tavern has been one of my favorite restaurants for as long as I can remember for a number of reasons: the history, spooky ambiance & of course..the food! The history - an active Inn & Tavern since 1729 where George Washington really did stay! The spooky ambiance - regular ghost / apparitions sightings by the workers & patrons! (I had a strange experience myself tonight, check my pic) The food - I've ordered the same exact thing for 15+ years: The critically acclaimed French Onion Soup, followed by the delicious Caesar Salad to the Filet Mignon w/ house vegetables of the day completed by the infamous bananas foster! Trust me, I've ordered this for 15 years without changing it up for a reason...you don't mess with perfection!! read more

No new comments... all years old. That says a lot! Owner is in the wrong business. Followed us out to our car due to not leaving a good enough tip. Claimed my husband does not know how to order food and showed him a picture of the $46.00 steak that he sent back due to it not being med rare . The server raved about the vegetarian dish of a sausage kabob ( &25.00) . It was absolutely tasteless. Owner said to not come back. May I say that I have been in this business for 20 years. As uncharacteristic as it is for me, I'd prefer to leave this one short and sweet. The family and I use this place often for yearly events. Their staff is warm and friendly. The food is delicious. They're fantastic with large groups, keen on addressing your needs like refills, and very personable. It's a place we know we can go, find parking, find a seat, and just relax. The restaurant is in a very small, but historic town in Pennsylvania, out in the boondocks (just the way I like it!). The building itself is extremely old and the vibes are otherworldly. The dining rooms are small and cozy... It's definitely not cheap, but the quality of the food is impressive, most certainly worth the price. The service is awesome, they roll your meals out on sweet silver carts...so fancy. I ordered the salmon and it was perfect...served with bread, veggies, and salad. UNBELIEVABLE STEAK, SEAFOOD & DESSERT (especially dessert)! Here is a list of words that best describe the flavor of the food at Stouch Tavern: delicious, mouthwatering, wonderful, unimaginable, delectable, astounding, incomprehensible, succulent, ridiculous, ridonkulous, scrumptious, breathtaking, scrumdidilyumptious, erotic, stupendous, flabbergasting & tasty. You take a step into 18th century Colonial America when you vie for a table at this historic eatery; one that in which General George Washington himself once dined at (and according to a web page I saw, he even gave a speech from the front porch). For all intents and purpose, this tavern is remarkably similar in almost every fashion to the manner in which it was over 200 years ago, or at least that's my understanding of it. And what I mean by that is the layout of the building, room design, décor, menu, etc. Even the arch over the driveway to the back of the restaurant where the parking lot is seems wide enough that only a horse could fit through it, and here you are driving your car through it! Personally, I believe the seafood it's the bee's knees at Stouch Tavern. I've had the Baked Stuffed Flounder and I highly recommend it, however on my most recent trip I had the Crabmeat Au Gratin, and I feel that I've never had anything like this dish before. They must have put a pound of crab and two pounds of cheese and butter into this dish. It's as good as it gets. The dessert is out of this world. You NEED to get either the Bananas Foster or the Cherries Jubilee, or man up and get both. They flambé it right there at your table and serve it up hot. You'll be charged by the person and they ensure there's plenty to go around. (The curious use of the word erotic to describe Stouch Tavern: you should learn that there's nothing sexier than cherries jubilee!) read more

I can't wait till this restaurant where George Washington ate opens back up again. They feature a great Filet Mignon and Maryland style fresh 100% crab cakes. These are in addition to other entre's prepared with attention to detail. Family style starches and vegetables are your sides prepared with gourmet perfection. The deserts are all made on site by Executive Chef Matt under the direction of restauranteur David R. This restaurant is a must visit in 2021. read more

Stouch Tavern used to be the place to be. Great food, great history, beautiful and cozy environment. Friday night only 4 tables. Years ago it was always packed in every room and every table. Food quality has declined drastically which explains it. I will give some of the food a good review. French onion soup, Caesar Salad, and Filet Mignon was very good. Stuffed mushrooms with crab meat barely any crab meat and not sure if it was even real crab meat. The best dish from the old menu, Seafood Thermidor, was not good at all. Two small shrimp, two small bad tasting scallops, no lump lump crab meat, bland flounder and the dish was incredibly watery. My last review on Yelp for Stouch Tavern was 10 years ago and it was a 5 star rating. I will still go back as I want to try the Specialty of the House to see if that old recipe declined or is still the same. Also bc Stouch Tavern will always be close to me heart. read more

Had a small lunch for my Mother's Birthday here on Sunday 3-10-19. Our server was very nice and polite. The place was deserted, there was only one other table of diners there the whole time we were there. The food was not good at all, I can cook better than their chef. I was very disappointed and will not go there again unless there are wholesale changes made and I hear good things about the place such as new ownership or new chef/ cooks. It's a shame because it's a beautiful old place that was once a really good place to go for a special occasion, NOT ANYMORE. Save your money, not worth going here. read more

Nice quiet little spot in womelsdorf. Building is dated but in a historic way. Service was friendly and very attentive. Started with the crab bisque. It was ok. Would recommend trying the French onion instead. Salad was fresh as were the side vegetables. The couple next to us had the Caesar salad for two which is prepared table side. Looked good, might be something to try. I had the veal madalions, thought they average. She had crab au gratin, prob one of the best dishes I ever tried. Recommend the spinach as a side. If you are looking for an elegant, romantic dinner or a just relaxing place to enjoy a home cooked meal with your family, I recommend the Stouch Tavern. I have been there a dozens of times and each time is as good if not better than the last. The food is absolutely delicious and homemade! They have great service (I am not picky and understand my server has to wait on other tables). The atmosphere is very quiet and relaxing. The tavern is inside a historical home so if you're into history you will enjoy the atmosphere. We dined here for my Grandma's birthday a few years ago. It was pretty tasty, with basic food and a crazy old atmosphere. It was nice, for what it is, but it is not someplace I would go on a regular basis. It was perfect for a large family party where we used the large main room and all of the tables to celebrate. The place is a shambles and very poorly furnished. The decor is awful throughout. The food is bland and very average to say the least. The early bird dinner consists of appetizer size servings. The wine list is pathetic for an expensive restaurant. I ordered the house Pinot Noir which I noticed was poured from an already opened bottle and tasted stale. For $6 a glass that is inexcusable. The service is good and friendly, the vegetables fresh from local markets, and the old fireplace quite nice. Interesting place with some history but scarcely worth the price tag. read more

So glad we found Stouch Tavern....we are moving into Womelsdorf over the next few weeks...we haven't had as wonderful a fine dining experience in a long time...the food was wonderful...portions just large enough to fill but still leave room to for the first flambed dessert since we left Monmouth county....salad...fresh....soup rich and hot...ham steak juicy and steak Diane melt in your mouth tender...sides were delicious..and flaming bread pudding at tableside a festive end to a great meal...the staff was friendly but not intrusive...servers quietly attentive and the chef engaged in a lively and interesting conversation...the entire building was tastefully decorated in theme with the winter season...the atmosphere relaxing and the entire place was so immaculately clean it would pass any white glove test...all in all a totally great evening...can't wait to enjoy their luncheon buffets....The Przybylowski's. Unique historic experience but food was only average. I got the crab casserole and it was only crab and cheese, that's it. The clam chowder tasted like flour. Only thing that was decent was the banana foster. Way overpriced, especially as the food wasn't that good, very bland. Also not a lot of variety in the menu.
