They could stop recycling their family style veggies and at least rinse off the meat accidentally dropped on the ground

This place has historically had great food and the tradition continues. Just wish it wasn't owned by a complete jerk off.

And we leave saying we aren't coming back for awhile. We'll this time is officially out last. Ordered a pulled ham meal and was given the same portion as the sandwich with a half piece of bread and an extra side. But they charge you 4 dollars more. I could have ordered and sandwich and an extra side and it would have been less money. Not only that but I subbed the mashed potatoes for fries and they charges me an additional 3 dollars for that, ridiculous. I did bring this up and they gave me more pulled ham. But at the end of the day people are getting ripped off. Otherwise there food is inconsistent everytime I have ordered the pit beef sandwich it was different. Either the beef was cooked to a different temp or they were using different rolls. Restaurants need to be consistent with how they make there meals they are not. We have ordered wings in the past they would come out cold. And the worst part is the owner that will sit at the bar while they are slammed busy instead of helping his staff. Get up and help your employees. I know this place has been thru alot but if you cant handle it sell it to someone who can.

My wife had the fish and chips. Food was good and plentiful. Service was very good, ate with some old friends, there was no rush, they gave us plenty of space. The menu is varied, specials are not typical fare, but also do not become science projects like so many "creations" do. The food is left to speak for itself. Affordable. Two small criticisms, can be loud in certain areas. They are very accommodating in moving you. The parking lot. Walking over the bridge can be an issue with cars. Worth the trip.

It sounds bold, and it is, but it works beautifully. The broth is rich and deeply savory, the cheese pull is perfect, and the crispy rings add a texture you never knew the classic was missing. The pork chop remains the star of the menu--huge, expertly seasoned, and cooked with precision. It's widely considered the best in the city, and honestly might be the best in the state. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor, it's the kind of entrée you end up recommending to friends for weeks. Their octopus is another standout, prepared with surprising delicacy. Tender, not chewy, with a perfect char that adds just the right amount of smokiness. It's balanced, refined, and one of the most memorable small plates you'll find locally. And don't leave without dessert--the crème brûlée is phenomenal. Silky smooth custard under a flawlessly torched sugar crust that cracks just right. Simple, classic, and executed perfectly. Between the inventive dishes and the warm atmosphere, The First Post remains a must-visit for anyone who loves great food done exceptionally well.

Wow! My companion…read moreand I stopped in on an early Saturday evening after months of "you know, we should try that place sometime." We are glad we finally did. 1762 was formerly known as The Warwick Hotel, and that's the prominent markings you'll see from the street. It is a really excellent spot on the square in Hummelstown with cozy charm and exceptional service. My companion was initially skeptical when she saw wine on tap but immediately changed her mind when she saw the offerings--good quality and reasonable price point. The beer selection is also good. Not a huge number of beers but well-selected. Although we didn't have a full meal we did enjoy the sausage and honey appetizer, which was outrageously tasty with sausage from a local butcher in Hershey. Service was efficient and friendly, especially considering the bar (where we sat) was hopping. We also met the owner, Dave, who rolled up his sleeves to assist at the bar while also personally greeting customers. Our biggest regret is that we waited so long to finally visit...and we'll definitely be back soon.

We started off with the mushroom flatbread, which was delicious. Hubby had the mahi-mahi special and I had a shrimp dish. I got to choose what kind of topping I wanted on my shrimp, which was really interesting. I chose the sautéed mushrooms. Yum. Plus, lots of great choices for sides. We will definitely come back when we are in the area!
