We had a large party and many asked for "no onion, dressing on the side,..." and everything came out correctly. We all loved our meals. The place was packed and all the waiters were hustling around. You see, back in 17th century England, private houses would open their homes to the public and sell food and beer. Hence, public house. Over time, they dropped the "lic house" and just called them pubs. Because you never dropped the "lic house" makes me think that you haven't evolved like you should have. And frankly, your food is proof. In fact, it even made me nostalgic. But not in the way you might think. You see, I loved making fun food concoctions when I was a kid. My sister and I would watch this corny show called "Zoom" on Maryland public television, where the kid hosts would make recipes sent in from all over the country. We'd make homemade peanut butter cups using Jif and semisweet chocolate chips. Or weird sandwich combinations like pickles and potato chips and cheese and jelly. The seafood egg rolls weren't the worst part of my meal, but they were definitely sophomoric--as if a kid chef-in-training was asked to whip something up from Chinese food leftovers. Seafood should never taste fishy, yet these did. One bite hit me like something that had been sitting a little too long above the waterline. Not to mention, they were laying on a greasy glob of some mayonnaise accompaniment disguised as a fancy garnish you'd see on MasterChef. One word: Ick. The ahi tacos. Oh boy. My mind fills with seawater the moment I think of them because they tasted as if they had been fished right out of the ocean and then placed on my plate. They were wet. Soaked. Drenched. The gelatinous seaweed clump on each taco wasn't culinary-forward, just unappetizing. I took one bite and wished I could spit it back out, but I reluctantly swallowed it. My esophagus is now aquaphobic thanks to you. The moment the coconut jasmine rice hit my mouth, my tastebuds took the red eye to the coconut tree haven of the Maldives. Normally, this wouldn't be a bad thing, but the rice and coconut had no cohesion. It tasted like my younger self dumping a handful of shredded coconut--the sweetened kind my mom kept in the pantry for the wool on her Easter-shaped lamb cake--into a cup of microwaveable rice. The only redeeming aspect of our meal was your kind, charismatic waiter. He was lovely in every way--attentive, sweet, and helpful. He would have been an incredible host on "Zoom." If only his personality made the food taste better. For your sake, I hope you learn to evolve your kitchen's offerings beyond the amateurish trio I experienced. My husband and I stopped here for dinner on a Friday night. We were seated right away outside. It was a beautiful night to eat outdoors. Our waitress was very friendly and fast. Always checking to make sure we didn't need anything else. We decided to try their seafood nachos as an appetizer. We loved them. Fantastic from appetizers to desserts. I was there for a private dinner meeting. It was held upstairs. The server did a great job with making sure that our drinks were filled, and we had to go boxes and brought our food out in a timely manner. Some of the appetizer choices were the calamari, fried kale and crab claw lollipops. All three were absolutely outstanding, and the portions were large. For dinner, our choices are rockfish, lobster, mac & cheese, filet mignon, or grilled chicken green curry. Again, the portion sizes were large and everyone enjoyed their meals. We came here for a spontaneous date night on Sunday after seeing so many good things about it for so long and I'm so glad we finally did! The restaurant was gorgeous, I loved the theming and our waitress was so sweet and super attentive. We started with drinks and I got the Dole Whip ($10) which was pineapple rum and whipped vodka with pineapple juice and soda and my husband got a glass of Pinot Grigio ($10), both were good! Then for appetizer we ordered the Tuna Poke Nachos ($17) which were also very good. The fish was very fresh and the wonton chips were super crispy, the only complaint I would have is that there was a little too much of the wasabi dressing on it. Then for entrees I had the Copper Creek Filet Mignon ($42) which was delicious! The beef was so tender and cooked perfectly and the potatoes had roasted garlic on them and were also really good. My husband had the Chesapeake Grilled Rockfish ($32) and I'm not a huge fan of fish but this was good and not at all fishy but the highlight was the side of Mediterranean Couscous with Feta. It was cooked perfectly, not too mushy, and the flavor with the big chunks of feta was amazing!!! Then we ended with a dessert which was the Key Lime Tart ($8) which was really good but the crust was a little too thick and hard to get through. I ended it off with a nightcap of the Banana Bread Martini ($12) which was strong but good and definitely tasted like banana bread. The calamari was the only thing I would not order again. The breading was atypical for calamari. I usually love the delicate breading on calamari. Amazing place to eat dinner after a round of golf nearby. York, PA is not a popular tourist destination. But it is filled with locals and make 4 our Asians stood out among the white crowed. Who cares! The food is super, esp. the soups. They are the best soups. This was our first time to Rockfish. I have been wanting to try it for a while now and have actually made reservations to go to the left bank and a friend convince me to change my reservation and go to rockfish instead. I'm glad I did. Buy a recommendation from a friend she said the seafood nachos were amazing and we got them and they were everything she said they were! So with that we opted for soup and salads because also the oyster stew came highly recommended. I've never had to waste your suit so I didn't really know what to expect I felt like it was a little sweet but maybe that's how it's supposed to be I felt like it tasted really nice. My husband has a New England clam chowder and it was OK, I've had better but still good. And I had the cob salad which I was expecting dressing on and it didn't have any but actually it was OK.
