We had an early lunch yesterday. Cream of crab soup and wimpies were fire! I got a shrimp Caesar salad as my entree that was a mistake. Not homemade Cesar dressing comes out of a package, very overwhelming taste. If they made their own dressing would be far better. We come here a lot and I usually get seafood but I wanted to try something different. I will not do that again. He had crab cake sandwich and said it was awesome. I have frequented thus place since it was called the corner stables. The restaurant is nice and friendly, however the bar area and one bartender inpartcular seemed like it was a burden serving me. I was there to get something to eat and have a beer. Renee was not friendly at all and infact didn't greet or have a single friendly tone or word to say. Not sure if she was having a bad day or what. The other bartender did say hi and was friendly. But I felt like it was a problem to serve me. I do not know if ill frequent the bar again. read more

If you stop, you have to try the Cream of Crab Soup, literally the BEST EVER!!! Hubby got the Dads Cream of Crab Soup and it came loaded with shrimp, scallops, and lobster, with huge hunks of crab meat already in the regular soup. Never have I ever had anything like this. unfortunately, I took people from out of town to this restaurant this evening. I called and made a reservation a day prior. When we got to the restaurant, we were seven minutes early. We were told abruptly, we were not allowed to be seated yet because we were early....the host exhibited a very odd behavior. The food was mediocre at best. It was not fresh. The baked potatoes were hard and old, the fried shrimp was overdone. The beef that was placed over the tater tots with gravy tasted like it was several days old. The cream of crab soup, (which I believe I've had once before and it was good) was like eating pudding. The waitress was pleasant enough, but left every empty dish on the table.. from the bread plates, soup, dishes, appetizer dishes...with the main entrée still served and still no of empty dishes removed. Had heard good things, so booked a party for 6 on Sunday eve. Should have known as soon as we saw paper napkin dispensers (like Chipotle). Cream of Crab, pretty good with good quantity of lump at $8.95 per cup. Buuut, we all ordered beef, which the cook seemed unable to get right. 2 ordered filet mignon, one medium rare, one medium. What came out of the kitchen did not look like Filets and doneness was way off. Then came the 16 ounce prime rib, 3 slices, which wife and I thought we could split; instead we got 3 thin slices of over overcooked beef (not medium, as requested, SEE PHOTO). Quick to be seated and have beverages brought out. It all went down hill after that. We placed an order for appetizers and meals. The appetizers were brought out and the waitress disappeared. No plates, no utensils, no sauce, and no soup that was requested to be brought out with appetizers. I got up and found a member of the staff to give me plates and utensils. Food was brought out by kitchen staff (still haven't seen waitress back at table) and all of us had something missing that we requested. The kitchen staff was nice and brought those items out. We asked about soup and he had no clue about that. At this point, we just wrote that off and asked to have it removed from bill. I ordered fish and chips. Neither the fish or the "chips" were cooked. Batter on fish tasted great but could not eat the fish. Chips were dripping in oil and not completely cooked. One sandwich in our group had hair in it. The waitress still has not returned so we just cut around it for the time being since we were so hungry. By this point, our drinks are empty and we are hoping the ice melts in our cups to quench our thirst. Waitress finally shows up and asks if we would like our bill. Manager had kitchen staff make a new sandwich for our friend to go, and we left. Well, idk... I wasn't impressed. But I'll admit i'm a bit of a food snob as I do cook quite a bit myself. The place clearly has potential to be a quaint little place to grab a sandwhich...I think their menu suggests they know what they are doing...BUT...They were busy and the waitress was in too much of hurry to really pay attention to the customers. I felt bad for her, she tried her best..but was obviously overwhelmed...and it was impossible to get the service we needed. My food was all overcooked. I ordered a combo with NY strip and shrimp. It wasn't great. Steak was ok...a bit tough but ok. The seafood though was way overcooked and I couldn't finish. Also, and maybe more importantly (at least to me) the place seemed dirty. Took my grandson to use the bathroom and it was a mess. The door wouldn't close all the way and the place kinda smelled. Didn't help my appetite. It wasn't awful. I've had much worse, honestly. Missed Thanksgiving dinner with the parents this year, so we decided to take them out for dinner on the weekend after Thanksgiving. My father suggested we try Bones-n-Shells as he was a fan of Coom's back in the day. The Dad's World famous cream of crab soup is, hands down, one of the best dishes I've had in York. Period!! The prime rib was good. My wife's crab cakes were good... but didn't taste like crab cake. On the way home, I figured it out. They don't use old bay. After I realized that, I think the crabcakes were fantastic--just not what one is typically accustomed to being in such close vicinity to Maryland. I'm going all in on seafood next time around. Service was atrocious. A waitress from another table took our drink order. A few minutes later my tea came out. After waiting another ten the other two drinks did not come out. Had to ask server where they were. He brings out the mixed drink and says that the draft beer was not ready yet. Not ready yet??? It's a draft beer. It says Coombs prime rib, far from it. The daytime Bartender Joe is good, but he leaves around 4:30! Then Angel comes in , and she is absolutely horrible, terrible personality, below average drinks and overcharges! $20 in the trash. Bad service, bad food. Passing through town I hopped off i83 looking for something to eat besides fast food or pizza, this was the closest option from the interstate exit. Called in an order and the person who answered sounded clearly annoyed :"Can I help you?" ..yes, I'd like to order for take out. ..."Hold on." ok, so you weren't ready to help me. Then as I order she's annoyed saying "hold on" after each item. I was already slowly saying one item at a time and was holding on for her to be ready,not sure why she felt the need to discipline me. When I ordered tuna nigiri she says "hold on, that takes awhile." ...this should have been my cue to end the call and go elsewhere. How can tuna nigiri "take awhile"?? ...I considered maybe it was an issue with how she had to enter it into their point of sale system. When I arrive to pick up I find it's a strange location, half bar/ half restaurant. I assume I pick up in the restaurant and walk in those doors. ...a host stand with no host, seems deserted. I peer around the corner and the "wait to be seated sign" and find an employee at the far corner. I guess I go to her to pick up. While ringing me out she asks if I need soy sauce, yes of course - but that's at the other side of the restaurant at the host stand - weird. I figured this was the annoyed person from the phone, but she seemed friendly enough and smiled so I left a couple bucks tip on the order. So now down the road at a gas station I park and go to dig in - no chopsticks or utensils! She asked if I needed soy sauce but didn't include anything to eat the food with. This is finger food now?? The menu was confusing in its layout and I went out on a limb and ordered an Adam Roll - tempura shrimp w/bacon and hot sauce - rolling the dice on something unusual but potentially good. And to be safe and simple I added an order of tuna nigiri. The roll had no hot sauce as advertised, instead it was that ubiquitous mayo type sauce, I didn't discern any spice. The bacon was weird tasting, like from a salad bar. The rice and tempura were thick and heavy. The tuna nigiri was white and mushy, not tuna. ...it tasted spoiled and I spit it out. Oddly there were two tiny pieces of salmon sashimi, also not good. My receipt wasn't itemized so I have no idea what she rung up despite me repeating my order to her in summary on the phone and when I picked up. I ended up only eating 3 partial pieces of the roll which were mostly mouthfuls of mushy rice and tempura with some soy sauce and wasabi flavor. Threw it all out. By far the worst sushi roll I've ever had. So then I go to fill up with gas and find I don't have my credit card! I called the restaurant back and the phone rang a bunch of times with no answer. I was too disgusted to deal with them anyhow and decided to just lock and cancel the card. Now consider they took my phone number when I ordered so they easily should have called me when they realized they still had my credit card, but of course not. The worst. read more

Working in the area from out of town and I've been there twice now. I will admit it slightly confusing and a huge menu . Almost as a joke, I had to see what a $23 bowl of soup was like.. Probably the best she crab soup I've ever had with the biggest chunks of crab. But get it dad's way and the handfuls of seafood on top were so fresh and good, taking it way over top as the best bowl of soup I've ever had. Definitely a whole meal. We wanted to dine here to experience 3 restaurants in one venue. We had reservations for 2 for Valentines Day made in advance. I couldn't recalled if I specified a booth. I requested booth when I got there. Told none were available. However, two were open the entire time we dined. They have a Coomb's tavern menu which we chose. The Crab Soup was delicious, and we also ordered the Crab Cakes. They were filled with meat and you can choose a 5 Oz. Single or an entree with 2 Crab Cakes. Old Bay French fries were average and was not impressed with the Cole Slaw. Prices were high for what we ordered. I will return to try their Steak . I'll keep you posted. They also need to room to accommodate their guests. Give it a try and let me know if I'm being too critical. Love the 3 menu concept. This has potential. read more

Among arriving on a Friday night at 6 pm we walked in to a sign that read "Wait to be Seated". Not one employee in sight. Also at the entrance was a tip jar full of cash that anyone could have easily taken and walked out with because not one employee was waiting to seat us. We had to walk up into the actual restaurant until we were noticed and the older staff member said just seat yourself. Sir then please take down your "Wait to be Seated" sign. The waiter never told us there were nightly specials and we only knew after we ordered as we overheard another waitress tell a different table. Service was mediocre for only a half full restaurant as we waited minutes among minutes for drink refills. The food was not bad but not outstanding either. When we walked in, we were given 3 different menu's. Monthly, Specials, and their house fold out menu. Overwhelming... We ordered medium-cooked cheeseburgers (something simple). When our meals were served, the burgers were well done and dry. The chef of the day placed cold cheese slices on top of the burgers, and another person in our group had only 3 mushrooms hidden under his cold cheese on their burger ! DON'T order the chicken tenders. They are chopped, processed and pressed into tenders, sort of like the nuggets you get from the clown fast food drive-thru. The servers (very short staffed) did their best to accommodate their full dining & bar areas. We were not impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. This was our first time here, after listening to staff it seems they may have only be open for a few weeks. They did not have a hostess, so we ended up waiting to be seated on the restaurant side for 10/15 minutes. They also have a bar side, in which we all agreed we would sit there next time. Once we got seated everything went very well. We ordered fries, clams and cream of crab soup for an appetizer- we won't get the fries again, only because they filled us up for the dinner which was amazing. I got their ribs and shrimp special with Mac and cheese and out of this world corn bread! My mom got the prime rib, only complaint was she should have gotten it rare and not medial (easy fix)- my fiancé got two crab cakes. These might just be the best crab cakes around- no filler all crab meat. We ended up coming home with 3 boxes as the meals are very large. This won't be an everyday things as the prices are high, but we will be back. read more

Just had our first meal there and we will go back. I have no words for the cornbread muffins- they weee amazing! My husband had hand ribs, shrimp and bacon max and cheese. All were tasty but he prefers his ribs fall off the bone, and they were not. I had the crab cake and it was the best I've had in York. Our server, nice looking young man, was pleased, well informed and gracious. He had a rather rude customer and he was nothing short of professional. Highly recommend trying it out!
