Mediocre .Side Salad
Mike I.

We had dinner plans with another couple and a gift card ... despite lack luster expectations on the food, we decided the company would overshadow the mediocre food. We made a reservation, and they asked me to shift it 15 min due to how busy they were. When we arrived it was pretty much empty but it's HUGE inside so it's hard to tell. Someone took us to our table. Someone else brought us menus and took our drink orders straight away. No beer or cocktail list on that menu but the gentleman quoted the tap list, which was longer than expected. He told us our sever would be over shortly. Our server came to take our order ... rattling off questions faster than we could answer ... not writing anything down ... but asking for confirmation along the way as he missed a few things as he hurried us along. Salads came out quick, though he forgot 1 of 4 dressings which took a while to arrive. Meals took a little longer but did arrive together ... sort of. My mashed potato side never came ... and I was done with my $34 "surf and turf" before the server returned to check on us. My filet was maybe 1/4 of an inch thick but the crab cake was good. We asked for bread early on but it didn't come until we asked again, when they finally brought my potatoes. Needless to say it wasn't really worth that $100 we paid for 2 meals, 1 soda, 1 pint of Guinness and a tip. We did have a lovely time catching up with our friends .. and chuckling at the comical service.

I enjoy their outside seating. They have good spring rolls. They make pretty good drinks! I've never had a bad experience while dining here. The waitstaff is helpful and friendly.

These pictures are from the 1st time I had gone! The parking area is huge so super easy to get parking i didn't go in the summer, so I do imagine it would be a lot more busy!! 1st time got the springs rolls for $9.50 which they were okay wouldn't get again! My fiance got a special of lobster mac and cheese dang it was goooood!!! I also tried the crab soup which was amazing!! I ordered mayapples famous wings got boneless for $15.50 and I tried the mayapple sauce which was amazing!! Went back again a 2nd time the waitress was seriously the cutest little button it was her 1st month she was super nervous but she did an aamazing job!! This go around we started with coconut shrimp for $12 which are amazing!!!! Then we decided to try the phyllo wrapped baked feta for $9 it was delicious!! I would have just liked more honey on it but it was amazing!! I then ordered the blacken salmon comes with 2 side for $26 it was cooked amazing and was awesome!!! My fiancé ordered the lobster ravioli for $26 and o mg that brandy cream sauce was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! the food did not disappoint I would recommend again and again

Great food great service in a comfortable relaxing setting. My wife had the Seafood Bisque to start it was light and creamy She decided on a Crab Cake for dinner which she said it was all lump crab no filler and seasoned perfectly she added a side salad and mashed potatoes and for desert she had Creme Brûlée. I had the Shrimp & Crab Alfredo with Tortellini tender fresh shrimp with lump crab meat tossed with multi colored tortellini and served in their Homemade Alfredo sauce it came with a side salad this is a very filling dish and it is very rich. We'll be returning again!

Atmosphere is nice. Wings are ok. But you will always wait twice as long as they tell you for your take out order.

We were on vacation and had planned a dinner out with friends to celebrate our daughter's birthday…read more We initially stopped by a hibachi steakhouse, but after being seated, we waited 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. When the waitress finally arrived, she mentioned she was the only one working and implied that the slow service would continue throughout the evening. Thankfully, my husband quickly looked up another local spot, and that's when we found Captain Krab Cajun Seafood & Boil--what a blessing! Not only did we enjoy incredible food and exceptional service, but both the server and the owner went above and beyond to make our daughter's birthday truly special. We were treated to fresh, delicious seafood, a sparkler candle dessert, a plush gift for the birthday girl, and even a light-up birthday sign! We felt like part of their family. We ordered oysters, clam chowder, boiled eggs, baby clams, and snow crab legs--everything was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. You can even customize your meal by choosing from four different seasonings and five levels of spiciness, which makes it ideal for families or groups with mixed tastes. One of the most fun parts? You can write on the walls, tables, and even the ceiling! They also have a claw machine for the kids (and kids at heart). We'll absolutely be back next time we're in town! P.S. It's BYOB!

Hookers Seafood Joint - Garlic Garlic Butter Crab AND Shrimp Fries

Hookers Seafood Joint

I first discovered Hookers Seafood Joint thanks to social media doing what it does best --…read moreaggressively showing me videos of garlic butter crab and shrimp fries until resistance became pointless. One look and it immediately earned a spot on my "we're going here soon whether the universe likes it or not" list. Friday Night Date Night doesn't usually send me into the city. After a long week of people-ing, I typically lean toward easier parking and fewer humans. But this Friday? I was willing to tolerate civilization just a little longer for seafood that looked that good. We rolled in around 5pm and somehow scored a street parking spot just a few doors down -- AND it was free after 5pm. At that point I assumed the night was blessed. Walking inside was...an experience. The space was pretty dark, with most of the lighting focused near the kiosk ordering stations at the back. A few empty tables, music playing overhead, and honestly -- it felt a little chilly inside for a February evening. But we didn't come for ambiance. We came for garlic butter seafood chaos, and we were committed. Ordering is done through self-service kiosks. We selected dine-in and ordered the garlic butter crab and shrimp fries ($13.99), the crab cake, shrimp, and cheesy grits ($27.49), and two Diet Pepsis ($1.25 each). Total came to about $55 with tip -- very reasonable considering what we were about to experience. While we waited, a few people came in for pickups and one very busy staff member (hoodie included) was hustling back and forth like a one-person operation keeping everything moving. A little while later, our food arrived -- already packed in to-go containers, which honestly felt like a thoughtful move because leftovers were inevitable. And then we opened the containers. And then...we fell in love. Garlic Butter Crab AND Shrimp Fries: Absolute insanity in the best possible way. Piled high with shrimp and crab -- and I mean no skimping whatsoever. Garlic butter sauce everywhere, perfectly crispy seasoned fries underneath, and rich, savory flavor that made it impossible to slow down. This is the kind of dish you think about later while staring into the void. Crab Cake, Shrimp, and Cheesy Grits: I am not a grits person...or at least I wasn't before this moment. These creamy Gouda cheesy grits have officially converted me. Smooth, savory, and ridiculously good. The crab cake was golden perfection with minimal filler, the shrimp were huge and perfectly seasoned, and the Cajun cream sauce tied everything together into what might be one of the best dishes I've had in months. Possibly longer. I'm still thinking about it. We ate until logic intervened and still left with about a third of the food for round two -- which I'm already excited about. Hookers might be easy to overlook if you're just passing by, but do yourself a favor and make it a destination. If you love seafood, this is easily one of the most underrated spots around. Big flavor, generous portions, fair pricing -- no over-the-top "trying too hard" seafood theatrics required. I showed up curious, left full, and now find myself emotionally attached to cheesy grits. That feels like a successful night.

The day before, I stopped at the same place to get some delicious fish, but that night I wasn't able to "swim with the fishes," so I came back the second day--and that was the best "swimming in the ocean" I ever did. I indulged in some delicious, cheesy, savory grits along with some delicious shrimp, fried to perfection with a golden, crispy brown outer layer drizzled with seasoning (but not too much). I also had some delicious flounder; now, this fish wasn't any less than the shrimp. The fish was one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had. I know a lot of fish--all the fish in the sea know me, and I know the fish. I must say the establishment is pretty inviting; however, myself being a cleaner, I know that it can definitely use a good cleaning. I did use the bathroom, and well, that was before I had my food and not after, which means it's good, and also the kitchen is clean. I enjoy this place because you do not have to deal with a waiter when it comes to ordering your food. All you have to do is just order at a kiosk, which makes it more convenient. They also sell smoothies, which are very nice as well. I do recommend this place for "to-go" food. To dine in would be okay, but would not be ideal only because it does need a good touch-up; however, the food is always consistent. If you have any questions, there are staff on site. I hope my review helps you make your decision on choosing to visit this location. My Ratings: * Food: 5/5 * Establishment: 2.5/5 * Convenience: 5/5

The Lobster Mac & Cheese was ok. I didn't find it to be anything special. The fresh oysters were delicious too! I shared the Calamari with my mum to start- it was delicious!! And definitely enough to share. The Monkfish and Mixed grill were apparently very nice too. Would definitely come back again- but only for a special occasions!

A quick search later and I realized it was only 20 minutes from home. I immediately grabbed a friend and requested a dinner date for the item that caught my eye: the Bratwurst mit Kraut -- bratwurst cooked with apples and sauerkraut, served on a pretzel bun and topped with even more kraut, with a side of German potato salad ($12). But I'll admit... I was also eyeing their Obatzda Burger with Oktoberfest beer cheese. Feeling bold, I asked our waitress if I could order their regular Pretzel Braid appetizer ($9) but swap the usual cheez-wiz and spicy mustard for that dreamy Oktoberfest beer cheese instead. She paused, smiled, wrote it down, and said, "that sounds really good!" Bless the chef for making my pretzel + beer cheese fantasy come true. The pretzel braid was warm, soft, and perfectly salty, and that beer cheese was the real MVP -- smooth, melty, not too hot, and with a proper beer-cheese finish. When the bratwurst plate arrived, it was a showstopper. Juicy brat, tangy kraut piled high, and tucked inside a pretzel roll that was soft but sturdy enough to hold it all together. No mustard needed! The German potato salad surprised me, though -- I'm used to the warm version, so finding it chilled caught me off guard. But honestly? It worked. Perfectly seasoned, just wet enough to be salad without drifting into soupy territory. I demolished both. Dessert was impossible to skip after hearing our waitress describe it to another table. We shared both the Apple Caramel Crumb Cake and the Lemon Blueberry Mascarpone Cake. The crumb cake was served warm with ice cream, loaded with thick, crunchy topping that didn't rely on chopped nuts (bonus points!). The mascarpone cake was light and buttery with the perfect balance of lemon and blueberry -- like saying goodbye to summer and hello to fall all in one dessert sitting. Southside Deli's Oktoberfest menu blew me away, and if their everyday offerings are anywhere close, I've been seriously missing out. Add in free parking, a convenient location, and plenty of seating, and it's an easy go-to spot for lunch or dinner. Southside is officially on my food rotation radar now!
