The soups were cold, not even lukewarm and the Bun Bo Hue had zero slices of beef brisket as shown in the description all I found were fatty pieces of grizzle and tendon, which I had to pick out. I visited Viet Thai recently when I visited York for my daughter's volleyball tournament. We went there because of the 4+ stars rating, but I have to say that their food doesn't taste anything close to even 2 stars and their Thai food is far from being authentic. The place is pretty packed with a lot of takeout orders. I thought we were going to have a great meal. But to our surprise, it wasn't. I'm not sure how people gave 4-5 stars rating for this place. We ordered Pad Kee Mao, Lao Chicken with papaya salad and Pho with meatballs. It wasn't bad, but definitely not authentic. We probably will not return to this place. This was my first and last time visiting VietThai, and I can honestly say it was a nightmare. Our experience started out fine; our waiter was a young man who was quick and attentive at first. However, everything changed the second it came time to pay. We decided to split the bill, and I was the first to pay. I tipped him $5, and immediately upon seeing the amount, his entire personality shifted. Before the other person I was with even had a chance to tip him, he started acting disgusted toward us. He actually threw his work tablet onto the table for the other person I was with to use for their payment. Because of his sudden rudeness, they decided not to leave a tip at all--meaning his outburst over $5 cost him the rest of the gratuity he would have otherwise received. The situation only got more embarrassing from there. When another staff member asked him what was wrong, he announced out loud to the entire restaurant exactly how much I had tipped and what our total bill was. He began storming around the dining room, clearly trying to shame us publicly. What was most disappointing was that the rest of the staff just acted like this was a normal day and said nothing to him. I eventually asked for the manager, but as I was explaining the situation, the waiter jumped into the conversation with a completely fake apology. The moment we headed for the exit to finally get out of there, he followed us. In front of another customer, he told me I "forgot my receipt" and intentionally dropped it on the floor. The other customer was in total disbelief at his behavior and even went to speak to the manager themselves because of how rude he was. I understand that working in the food industry is stressful and that tips are important, but this was a case of an employee losing his mind over $5 instead of being patient. VietThai clearly doesn't value professionalism or respect for their customers. I definitely do not recommend this establishment. read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch with hubs the day after Christmas. I haven't been to this location since they opened. Honestly, the last time I dined here was when they had just opened as a little hole in the wall on East Market Street in York. Wow - it was so good! The decor was great. The service was prompt. We did the shrimp wok-stickers, he had the ginger shrimp and I had the Kalbi short-rib. Everything was so fresh and tasty. Portion sizes were enough for 2 meals. Kalbi was tender with wonderful seasoning and a nice fatty bite. Was great with the kimchi. I ended with the mango sticky rice - again enough for 2. Was covered in mango. Had large pieces of fruit with every bite. Hubs enjoyed his meal. Lots of shrimp and fresh veg. Please stop in a give them a try! read more

Went here on a Monday night, and it was packed. Super busy, almost every table was full, but we still got quick service. Got crab Rangoon, was very disappointed in it. Our waitress raved about the Rangoon but it was a waste of $8 for only 6 pieces. It was mostly fried wonton wrapper. I didn't taste any crab in it, only cream cheese. Kinda hard to eat cause the wonton was fried so deeply. Got the sushi roll combo, was good and a decent price for the amount, but still not the greatest sushi. The sushi fell apart even with using chopsticks. The vegetable pad thai was amazing, very delicious. For the rangoon, sushi combo, and two entrees it was nearly 60 bucks, so pretty average. I would definitely come back. Their Pho prices are very good compared to other places in the area, will try that next time. read more

A gem in the East York Marketplace! After a less than stellar encounter at GameStop we were pretty hungry for lunch. Saw this place right down the way and decided to stop in after looking at the menu online. This is prob my new favorite Vietnamese shop! Don't let the location in a strip mall food you. Inside is very cozy and decorated with a classy Asian flare. They have an abundance of foods to try from classic Vietnamese salads, sandwiches and soups even sushi! I ordered the summer shrimp rolls and rare beef Pho, husband got the crab rangoons and beef combination Pho. Both delicious and the price cant be beat! On par or cheaper than other places we've visited. Staff were all very friendly and offered suggestions on what to order if we had questions. It was pretty empty when we got there around 1pm on a Saturday but packed with a waitlist as we left around 2pm. We're already planning to stop by again when we're in the area! read more

I usually don't dine alone but I was willing to risk it for a great bowl of Bun Bo Hue... and thank goodness I did. This place is incredible, I'm going to have a hard time putting it into words. I sat at the sushi bar and was surprised to see so many tables seated as early as 5 pm. I befriended the sushi chef, who was very sweet and made sure to check on me in addition to my waiter. My waiter was also incredible and let me know that the Bun Bo Hue is actually a personal favorite of his. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue ($11 and change - super cheap compared to other places locally and in other states that I have tried) and the Jennifer roll (~$7). The sushi roll tasted so fresh and was presented very beautifully. The roll slices were HUGE and definitely should've been two bites. I stuffed it in my mouth in one though LOL. The Bun Bo Hue came with all the traditional pho fixings (just add the bean sprouts and some chili oil, trust me). The bowl was huge, and I was shocked at the portion size for the price. It was piping hot and wasn't too spicy so I could add more chili oil to my liking. It was full of sliced meat and didn't have the weirder cuts of meat (pork knuckle, meatballs, etc.) like some other places I've tried in PA. It was just a ton of sliced beef and pork and I loved that. The broth was great and the noodles were thick and tasty too. I couldn't even finish half the bowl. I had the privilege of hearing a little bit of this restaurants history and talking with Frankie, my waiter, and the sushi chef more in depth. They are all such sweet, caring people. I got a to go roll for my partner since I had the audacity to dine without him tonight. He said it was incredible. TLDR; You MUST try the Bun Bo Hue, it's more flavorful than traditional pho. The prices are great. The people are even better. I have a feeling I'm going to become a regular even though I live 40 mins away. Wish I could give them 6 stars! read more

Bland and flavorless, there was no spice/heat, no sour/tamarind flavor; just vaguely sweet and somewhat salty noodles with scant veggies and dried out chicken. I just moved to the York area and I've heard a lot of recommendations for this place. But I have to say, this was the worst pad Thai I've ever had. It was dry and inauthentic. First of all, they did not even use the right noodles. Instead of the flat semi-wide noodles, they seemed to have used some kind of yakisoba stir fry kind of noodles. Second, the flavoring was pad Thai -adjacent at best. It barely tasted like pad Thai...it had that sort of sweet flavor in the background but it mostly tasted like a stir fry noodle dish with soy sauce. The pork was over cooked also. My husband also got their pad see ew. It was better than the pad Thai but the flavors weren't there and it was under seasoned. I can't recommend their Thai food at all based on my experience. Little Elephant in York has slightly better, more authentic Thai food than this place in my opinion. This is a pan-Asian restaurant so they have a big menu. I may give their other menu items a chance because maybe Thai food is not where they shine best. read more

Great lunch with friends at Viet Thai. I eat here with them when I'm in town as it is one of my friend's favorites. VT is located in " East York" in the Giant plaza. Plenty of parking, but you may have an extra 100' walk when the plaza is busy. Service is always quick. Today I noticed there was outdoor seating, but we always sit inside. Ambiance is very nice, but honestly, I don't like the chairs, I feel that I'm sitting up too high. Or if your in a booth waaay to low. I typically just order randomly to try new things. I have never been disappointed. The portions are generous; prices are fair. Pad Thai is one of my favorites. This week I tried the Spicy Pad Kapow Chicken. It was spicy, made my eyes water (haha)! Top notch staff, server was quick, friendly and perfect. The plates are completely worth it. Huge value and flavor. Not only the ones I tried but the ones I saw for my neighbors. This is a new restaurant that opened up on factory Lane and I'm not quite sure about it yet. I've only been there once and I've only had appetizers to try out. They were good but a little pricey for what I received and I did go during a busy time of the day I will however try my luck again and go back and check them out to see if I can give a more accurate review by getting an actual entrée But the appetizers that I did have they were OK. I had a salad and a beef salad and some mango dumplings, which were OK so I don't have anything negative to say, but I don't have anything great to say either so be looking out in the future for a better review of this place. Ended up at Viet Thai when our preferred pho spot was closed. We were seated right away and the restaurant was about half full, with more people coming in while we were there. Our server only brought us one summer roll even though we ordered 2. We also got a Larb salad to share. The Larb was tasty but lacked the tangy citrus component of the dressing that makes it amazing. We had to ask for sriracha sauce for the roll and it took forever to get it. We both had pho for our entree. The bowls were smallish and the first thing we both noted was that the flavor of the broth lacked depth. It didn't have that full, rich flavor we've come to expect from pho. Also, they brought out one small plate of the accoutrements for the soup: cold bean sprouts, a few sprigs of cilantro, some lime wedges and slices of jalapeno. No basil. We had to ask for hoisin and sriracha. It was alright. If we go back we'll avoid pho and try something else. Our server seemed to be spending time with all of his tables except ours. read more

Had a great experience here at this asian fusion restaurant. We had no reservation and they were very busy but we got a table. Got the chicken noodle pho and it was great. The broth was so flavorful! Portion size was great. I did not taste the sushi, but the tempura shrimp sushi did not look as good as other places I have been too. The shrimp portion seemed small and the outside of the rolls looked unpolished. But the kid who ate it loved it, so there is that. I decided to try from the grilled meats section the Laotian. I chose the grilled pork option. It comes with sticky rice, tomato jam, and spicy papaya salad. The meat was phenomenal and the tomato jam was spicy, salty and was great with the meat. The tomato papaya salad was not my favorite. I wish it had the traditional tamarind, peanuts and fish sauce that goes into the salad to offset the spiciness. But overall I was pleased with my dish. My kids split chocolate ice cream for dessert. I was asked if they wanted whipped cream and sprinkles, which was a nice touch. One of the most unique fusion restaurants I have ever had the pleasure to dine in. VTC is eclectic, modern, clean and the fanciest place I have ordered a bowl of Pho. In short, the place is fabulous. The food was amazing but upon entry our server was fun, engaging, and just a delight. He knew the menu, knew the flavors and made great suggestions according to our likes and dislikes. What I thought I wanted was a Panang curry. That was not on the menu so our server suggested the Red Curry which came with my choice of protein(s). It was sublime all the flavor I wanted and some of what I needed in a steaming hot bowl of delicious Thai curry. We also ordered California rolls and some Pho. Everything was executed to perfection.
