Kale was priced at 1.49 per pound but they were all out (2/4/23). At Giant Kale is $2.99 a pound right now! Not a huge selection of lettuce. They only had romaine in a package. Fresh herbs priced at 1.99 a pack. Loose potatoes, onions and tomatoes reasonable priced. Huge selection of Hispanic snacks, seasonings, canned goods. Some are the same you'd see in the grocery's store but there's a nice selection of seasonings and sauces I've never seen before. There's also small kitchen and butcher. I haven't tried that section or the food yet but next time.

Sorry, not sorry, I'm good. Anytime I'm greeted at the door of a GROCERY STORE (or any store) by ARMED security (typically they're cops working part-time) that let's me know I likely WILL NOT revisit. However, they have plenty of customers that my dollars will not be missed and that's great! Their floors need to be cleaned, stripped down by a commercial style cleaner, then waxed and buffed then maintained. The mats near the seafood area and throughout, need a heavy duty sanitizing scrubbing. An overwhelming amount of their leafy green items were wilted. And certain veggies had several divots or scrapings in them making it hard to choose. But there were others that were as they should - it was quite odd. They don't have a sprinkler system in the produce area to keep them at optimal freshness (hence the wilting I saw) yet opt to use ice on those veggies that can handle being left on ice. Just for its and giggles, I ventured to the the seafood section, eh not a bad selection bonus they have live blue crabs. Oh and the smell wasn't pleasing. Years ago, I was told that stores that have that peculiar smell, it likely has an unmanaged rodent issue. All grocery stores have rodents but they have it managed - it's the price of doing business. I'm sticking to Mom's Organic, Trader Joe's, and turn on my tunes, and cruise to H Mart in Ellicott City.

I will say that I appreciate that prices are fairly reasonable and there are quite a few international items that you won't typically find at local grocery stores. The store itself is fairly large and the layout is nicely designed with bright lighting. Food options are decent and who doesn't appreciate that bakery? But... there's some serious room for improvement. The checkout experience can be a total nightmare - endless lines with one or two lines open. Very frustrating. What's even more so is when lines abruptly close as you walk up! There's never anyone restocking, so when meats and produce run out, that's it until the next day. (They really could learn from the Trader Joe's business model). However, I did witness something promising this evening... THREE cashiers on duty at the same time! Let's hope that feedback from the community steers their service in a good direction.

Geresbeck's has the best sales in town when it comes to seafood. The shrimp is always cheap & they steam on site. On a recent visit while waiting for my shrimp to be steamed, I took a walk around the market to see what else I could buy. Geresbeck's has a great speciality ice cream section. They had my favorite Taharka Brother's honey graham ice cream and some other tasty choices. I ended up in the bakery department and saw SO MANY delicious looking baked goods from a peanut butter Boston crème cake to banana pudding parfaits to mini cheesecakes. Their doughnuts are huge and made with the love of someone that loves to bake. I took quite a bit of photos showcasing their selections. As I walked through the store, I started to get a little hungry for a snack. I came back around to the deli/hot foods department and saw a mountain of tasty looking western fries. Now, western fries are extremely popular in Baltimore and the surrounding counties. I've had my share of western fries from the center of the city, to Brass Hen in Eastpoint mall, to even Royal Farms. All were delicious, BUT THESE FRIES WERE ABSOLUTE LOVE AT FIRST BITE!!! They were crunchy like a piece of fried chicken and tender inside like a fluffy baked potato. Omg, I can taste them right now. They were so, so amazingly yummy. If you love potatoes, or any variation of fries, you'd LOVE these. I actually may go back very soon for a fix. I didn't need salt, pepper, ketchup, NOTHING. Now, for my only gripe about Geresbeck's is that I wouldn't necessarily buy goods outside of the seafood, bakery or specialty items. I found that other items in the store, unless on sale, are higher priced than other grocery stores. But they have to counterbalance that with the affordable seafood prices, right? Anyways, if you're in the area, stop by and pick you up some delicious doughnuts and western fries while you're there. Geresbeck's is a piece of nostalgia that will make you feel like you were back in a time when everything was simpler and easy. They will always be solid with me.

When you get there, you're sure to be met with security guards, some with or without bullet proof vests. There are people lingering/ loitering outside for various reasons, particularly in the summer. Some are hacking, selling "things", and waiting for people to leave the store to ask them if they need help with their groceries. One of the reasons people will need help with their groceries is because the carts cannot exit beyond the cement pillars. So, if someone is shopping by themselves and has bags that would require more than one trip to the vehicle. They would have to leave their cart and get their vehicle or ask someone for help which can lead to a number of other issues. These options are a major safety concern particularly for women shopping alone. Food Depot a good place to get staples and a few things when you don't have time to travel to your favorite stores. The quality of the fish varies. I have seen fish displayed that have obviously decayed beyond an acceptable amount of time and was destined for the trash weeks prior. If you go on a good day, you can get great quality wild caught fish which is a bonus for those looking for a relatively good price. The fish mongers are the professional and knowledgeable. This department is the primary reason I go to the store. The Hot foods section looks unappetizing and unhealthy. I had a horrible experience with a cashier who was the only lane open for people with more than 20 items. I have vision issues beyond the need to wear glasses and I was barely able to make out on the screen that she charged me twice for onion rings; however, I only had one bag. she grabbed another bag of chips and asked me if I could see this bag (which she held in her hand) and asked me if I could see this bag up there (on the screen) I said no. She said, " that's because the other bag of chips could not scan so, I scanned the onion rings twice. That cashier needs training, she didn't have to ask me if I saw this bag on the screen. She should have simply explained one bag couldn't scan so I scanned this one twice. That was insulting, and disability (vision) harassment. I paid and left, without the intent to return. When you check out, you'll see vendors along the wall selling T-shirts, hats, perfumes, etc. that section makes the store look like a flea market. And, then you see the broken glass exit door, which makes you wonder what happened here. Then, the cycle begins again, people with various purposes are waiting outside. It's a shame, food depot could be better if they had better customer service, management and removed the riff raff. This type of experiences is one, if not the only reason I spend/ grocery shop only in the county. I have been trying to spend money in urban communities, however, experiences like this make it difficult.
