Absolute gem in the heart of Mesa! Family owned and operated! Food is delicious as always!

Very happenin' place for lunch! I got the chicken pita sandwich. Although it didn't have a ton of flavor, the ingredients tasted very fresh and healthy! Not sure if the gentleman at the counter taking my order is the owner , but he was very knowledgeable and helpful. He made sure that my order was correct and didn't include any items that my husband is allergic to. Pretty good healthy food overall, but just wished it had a little more flavor! read more

George's Gyros - Salad Near Me - Mesa, Arizona

All their pita sandwiches are $11 or less and come with fries or a salad. How does this price point still exist in 2026! I almost dont want to say it in case they change their minds. Thank you for feeding people at a great price point. What makes this an even better deal is the food is hot, fresh and full of flavor. One of the best gyros I've had. read more

George's is the best gyro restaurant in Az trust me I've tried most of them. Hopefully, they will be reopening soon.

I love gyros, I've had them all over the state. There's a really good one at a place up in Peoria, but none of them compared to George's. The texture and flavor of the meat, the high-quality ingredients, etc.. as well as reasonably priced. And comes with Greek salad or fries, I always go out of my way to come to this place . read more

I can't believe I've never been here before! The food is absolutely amazing. I got the Gyro Picado and it was phenomenal. The tzatziki might be the best I've ever had, and the salad on the side was a great portion and tasted delicious too. The gyro itself had SO much meat in it; I was very pleased. I have to say, when I opened up my Greek fries, I was a little disappointed to see that the sauce was vinegar based and I was expecting a creamy lemon sauce, but when I tried them, I was not disappointed anymore. So. Dang. Good. For the gyro, side salad and Greek fries, I spent just over $15 - a great deal nowadays. The place itself was cute too. You can tell it's been around for a while, but it was cozy. Nice little bar inside and a TV to watch sports on the other side and a cute little patio outside too. I will definitely be making regular visits here. read more

George's Gyros - Gyro with fries - Salad Near Me - Mesa, Arizona

We have been coming to George's for years. It's in an old convenience store, and there's nothing fancy about this place. There is a small bar, but I've never actually seen anybody ordering anything from it or anyone manning the bar. Perhaps You have to ask? I've had many things here, but I almost always go back to the Greek salad with gyro meat. They're great dressing is really delicious and it's a very large salad. Of course their gyro pitas are also delicious and they are served with those kind of fat fries, smaller than steak fries and bigger than McDonald's fries. I've also had the spaghetti and meatballs - - I'm a sucker for meatballs of any kind and I like these ones, as well as the really good garlic bread. My son has had the burger, which I've tried. If I were in the mood for a burger this wouldn't be the place I'd come, but it was absolutely fine. Tip: be prepared for a crowd certain times and days. Georges is located very close to Mesa City Plaza, Mesa Police Department headquarters and the central station, along with a lot of other businesses. At noon during the week (Monday through Thursday) there can be a long line and sometimes it's difficult to find a table. read more

George's Gyros - Salad Near Me - Mesa, Arizona

Greek food with liquor and beer. What a shock to find a gyro shop that has a bar in it. Very affordable, under $10 gyros. The gyro is so stuffed I almost can't finish it. I get it with a side Greek salad, but I have them box it as I'm too stuffed. They have other items, spaghetti, salads, etc. I've been coming here for years. The owner is always so friendly. Thank you for keeping good food affordable. I like to dine in, watch the game and enjoy a beer. read more

George had the best food and really decent prices. Very friendly atmosphere. family oriented

I ordered the steak gyro, my husband had the combination sandwich, and the kids went with chicken nuggets and fries. The steak gyro was delicious. The combination sandwich was a hit with my husband--good portion size and a nice mix of flavors. The kids' chicken nuggets and fries were pretty standard, but they enjoyed them. Service was friendly and reasonably fast, even with a family order. The restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Overall, a solid spot for a casual meal, and we'd consider coming back! read more

My colleague wanted to eat here, he really talked this place up. I got a chicken platter, it comes with a decent size salad, he got the gyro platter. We both got rice instead of fries. And I got baklava with pistachio. So I would have given 3 stars but I did watch the owner de-escalate an unfortunate situation, very professionally, so I'll say 4. To be honest, the food was sort of "meh". It was very bland, lacked flavor. I thought it was just me, but my colleague said the same thing. I was told it's normally not like this, so maybe they were having an off day.... The baklava wasn't too sweet either, actually wasn't sweet at all. The side salad was a decent size, I was expecting a really small bowl, so that's nice. I probably won't try it again, I need flavor in my food. But again, maybe it was just an off day for them. Mad respect though to the owner, saw someone come in trying to pull the sexist/race card and the owner just calmly explained why he was asking questions a certain way and all was defused! read more

Never a bad gyro. They post on their windows "Az's best gyros" And I must agree! I'm from Chicago, and when I came to Mesa in 1992, I sought out gyros I was accustomed to in Chicago. I frequent them anytime we travel to Phoenix, as we live in far east valley. You won't a better one ANYWHERE in town at ANY price! Nothing fancy, just get food! read more

George's Gyros is a staple amongst my coworkers and in Downtown(ish) Mesa, for good reason! George's is a no frills, no fuss, mom and pop type of restaurant that lets the food speak for itself. Come before/after 12PM to avoid the lunch rush! I ordered the chicken pita and chose a salad for my side, and bf ordered the original gyro sandwich with fries. The prices are affordable, and the quantity is generous; our pitas were filled with meat! We enjoyed the softness of the pita, the crisp fries, and the nice side salad. read more

This is a great place. Quirky building, looks like an old liquor store from the front. Lots of parking. Inside, clean as can be, looks fresh and relatively new. Order at counter, food brought to table or take out. Had the Gyro with salad. Fresh soft pita bread, generous portion of mild, but tasty gyro meat. Salad was fresh. Brought home a gyro dinner for my wife, she thouroghly enjoyed it. Came with 2 pita breads, and rice, which was perfect, and a salad. Prices reasonable, counter lady was very nice, I will be tempted to bring some food home anytime I'm in the area. read more

We've lived in the area for a couple years and driven by this place a lot. It does look like it's dead looking but the reviews have brought us in. And let me tell you, they were right. The food was all good. The cashier was actually really nice, helpful and funny. He was really sweet to all everyone coming in making small talk with everyone I saw. When we showed up there was one person picking up their food in front of us but by the time we left there was 2-3 other people who placed orders and a line starting when we left. We got the gyro platters, tzatziki with pitas and baklava. The food was yummy! We loved the flavors. I love the tzatziki and want more. After we finished everything we already decided we wanted to go back another time to try more of their food! What I liked too was that the cashier was very happy to talk with everyone even getting close to closing time, a family said they would do To go so that they don't make him stay like and he was just saying oh please! If you wanna have it here go for it, it won't cause a problem for us! Can't wait to try someone of their menu! read more

Been having lunch here for about nine years, and let me tell you....the food, service, ambiance and everything else about this restaurant is top-notch. Such amazing food! Workers are kind and service is quick. You HAVE to try this place- it is my new favorite place.

The food was stellar and so was the service! The traditional gyros are the way to go if one is undecided about what to get. The small business feel was truly there from the host/server person. Could it have been bigger? Sure. However, you don't need a floor plan when the food and service speak for itself. Love the energy of this place and will definitely return when I'm in this part of Mesa. read more
