This is a really cute spot, but seating for the front most table is very low and made for some weird comfortable leaning forward for a tall guy like me. The servers were polished and friendly. I can only speak to the expresso martinis here. They look gorgeous. However, I've had a lot of expresso martinis in my adult life. These are the worst ivr ever had by a country mile. Imagine 4 oz expresso martini you like with about 2oz of water mixed in. That's how these tasted to me and my friends who also ordered these last Saturday night. I have wanted to try this place for a while. I had some time to kill in Downtown Mesa, so I decided to walk in to see what this place was all about. It was a Thursday, which happened to be All Day Happy Hour. It was not busy, so I was able to grab a seat at the bar, and I am glad I did. The wine recommendations from the bartender were awesome. Rebel Wine Lounge is a cute little spot and I enjoyed both the wine and food! My boyfriend and I wanted to just hang out for a bit with some snacks and a drink before going to a later event, and this was perfect. I ordered a glass of the J De Villebois, Val De Loire Sauvignon Blanc. First, they let me try a bit before ordering, which I appreciated. I like more fruit forward and tart white wines, so this was a good pick! They have a small menu but it's reasonable for a wine bar, and I think they have a nice assortment of shareables / snacks. We ordered the meatballs and prosciutto fig flatbread. I liked that there was a generous side of crostini to go with the meatballs (as opposed to one piece of bread or nothing other than the meatballs), but the meatballs themselves were a little bland. I really enjoyed the flatbread! I'm a big fan of the prosciutto / fig / arugula combo in general, and I thought this had the right ratios. The crust was a medium thickness, and it was crispy on the outside while still soft on the inside. I also liked the ambiance! It was aesthetic and intimate but still casual and relaxed, and most tables were filled but it didn't feel overly crowded or loud. Cute locally-owned wine bar in downtown Mesa. I've been meaning to check this out and finally made it here for a calligraphy class. I really like that they host various events like this. There isn't dedicated parking, but there's street parking and free city lots nearby. That said, it was still a little tricky finding close parking on a Tuesday evening! The wine bar has a great ambiance. I believe there were also tables outside for when the weather is better! The wine menu has some interesting options and they had additional wines available for the bottle special of the night. Alas, I was not up for a bottle! I was a little meh on the food menu -- but ended up ordering the meatballs which isn't something I'd normally order. SO glad I did! These were delicious! I took half home and they made a great snack the next day cold as well. (Yes, I could have heated them up but cold food is nice in summer). My one complaint is if you want bread, you need to pay $3 to add a few thin hard pieces of crostini. The bread surcharge seems excessive. They do have a happy hour but it's just on wine and the deviled eggs, caprese, and stuffed peppadews so I probably won't make an effort to make that. read more

Met a friend for the glass of wine and a quick dinner. I absolutely love the decor. The velvet couches and comfy chairs in natural tones are lovely. There are a few comfy seating areas and some tables, big and small. The patio out front is pretty large. We were seated immediately, and we received our wine very quickly as well. There's a wine on the list for everybody so everybody should be happy. There are QR codes for the beer selections, but we were there for the wine and had no interest in the beer. We ordered off the food menu and did a split - - we split a margherita flatbread and an order of meatballs. At first glance the flat bread seemed pretty small, but it really did fill us up, especially when we split the meatballs, three each. The flatbread was good, but the meatballs were fantastic. Admittedly, I do love all meatballs, but these really were good. I think they were topped with goat cheese, which made them even better. They were served with crostini, but I skipped that. I really like Rebel Wine Lounge, and I hope it sticks around a while. By the way, this place comes from the same people that brought us Outcast Donuts and Level one arcade bar. Yum! read more

Stopped in with a friend for some happy hour wine and bites, I was glad I made a reservation since it was pretty busy at 6 on a Friday. Happy hour is until 7 during the week and has some good deals including $10 off a bottle of wine. This was probably the best deal for us so we tried out a French Sauvignon blanc. The wine was decent and chilled over ice in a plastic bucket. The food options were ok but took a while to come out. There was a small error on my grilled cheese which they corrected but by that time the soup was lukewarm. The interior design is nice but otherwise a pretty casual environment. It gets to be a bit loud inside and at one point they were playing quite clubby music with loud bass which was not my favorite. In my opinion this would be a great spot for a drink during happy hour and then I'd rather get dinner elsewhere; downtown Mesa has some other great food options. read more

My wife made reservations for 6:15 PM since we had a 8 pm show that night. Got seated pretty quick after getting there on time. Within 5 minutes we ordered a bottle of wine and 2 apps, meatballs and the caprese salad. Wine came out in 5 minutes, our server was very nice and asked if we were seeing a show or anything that night. Told her that we had a 8 PM show at that time and then put in an order for the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. We were enjoying our wine and having a good time. 6:45 rolled around and we asked our server to check on our food. 7:15 pm rolls up and we started talking about cancelling it food order and figure out a backup plan since we're starving at that point. We were able to flag down our server at this point, since we hadn't had a chance after she never gave us an update on our food. She finally told us it would be 8 more minutes, my wife wanted to wait, I wanted to leave and just pay for the wine at that point. We waited. The apps came out at 7:30 and we rushed to eat them. Food was decent and hot. Our server came back 10 minutes after and gave us the check and said they took off the grilled cheese and tomato bisque since we never got it and we had to leave. She also gave us a 15% off card for next time. I turned around and gave it to the people behind us because I'm not sure if we'll be back. I did explain my frustration to the server, telling her they could have given us a heads up they only have one person in the kitchen and your good might take over an hour or more to come out when we told her that had a show at 8 PM. We were prompt with our orders and thought we set an expectation that we didn't have all night, nothing was taken off our bill, turned a little stressful worrying about the food and making the show on time for our date night. We still tipped decently because the kitchen was not her fault. Better communication and taking care of your guests would have gone a long way. We ran into another group at the show that we saw eating there and they told us they had to eat their food in the car on the way over to the show and had the same experience. Would recommend not eating here before going to a show on a busy night. read more

I'm quite shocked that this place isn't slammed 24/7. The food is excellent, service is great, the vibe and ambiance is so lovely and chic. To top it off, VERY reasonably priced. This has recently become mine and my husbands favorite place to go in downtown Mesa. Would give six stars if I could! We hosted the welcome happy hour for our wedding here, and the team at Rebel made it such an easy and wonderful experience! We were able to reserve a combination indoor/outdoor space which was so nice for our guests, most of whom were visiting from colder areas. The food and wine were both great, and we got so many compliments from our guests on how much they enjoyed everything. We had a two hour reservation but we're graciously allowed to linger while people continued enjoying their wine. It's very nice and clean, there are some great wine/flight options, and canned craft beers, the prices are reasonable and our server was nice. They have happy hour throughout the week with $10 off a bottle and $2 off a glass of wine. There are also small bite options on the happy hour menu as well. I ordered a glass of sparkling rosé which was good and I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato bisque to go. I couldn't wait until I got home and decided to try the grilled cheese which was so good! Been here twice now and both times were not great. The most recent was a Sunday evening with some girlfriends. We sat on the patio, all ordered food and some drinks. There was only one waiter, with maybe 3-4 other tables, it was not busy or packed. 2 of our entrées came out, and they were nearly finished before a 3rd came out and we had to remind the waiter we were still waiting on 2 more... after all the food was out the waiter apologized and said we would be getting 50% off for the inconvenience. We were all happy with that of course. Well when the checks came there was 0 discount, nothing! We reminded him what he said and he clarified that we would be getting a coupon for a future order (he said we were getting a discount not a discount in the future)... then once that came it was only 15% not the 50% we all heard. There are MUCH better places in Dt Mesa that give perfect service and food 100% of the time. If you want to sip some wine with low expectations this is the spot for you but literally anywhere else is better. Also since it is winter and we were on the patio sitting right next to a heater we asked if that could be turned on, waiter said he would need management approval and it was never turned on. read more

Downtown Mesa has needed a wine bar, and boy did Macee and Christina get it right! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly Ash, Taylor , Kylie, Brooklyn and Laurie are all amazing, and Tina really cares about the quality and consistency of the food. I forgot to get pictures of the food before we ate, but the charcuterie board, grinder, deviled eggs, and spinach artichoke are perfection. Finally! Mesa is getting up-to-date with an interesting restaurant. Rebel has the feel of dining in Europe with a modern interior that opens up to patio dining. There was music in the background that did not (thankyou!) interfere with table conversation. And the food and wine are worth multiple visits. If you like a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup - you have to come here! (Hats off to the chef!) Plus the wine selections are from around the world. We enjoyed a full-bodied red from Spain.
