Great place for lunch. The tough part is finding parking but there are metered spots usually available. I ordered the greek salad with grilled chicken special. I also had the new england clam chowder to start. The chowder was good diner type soup. It had a creamy texture with some nice chunks of clam. The greek salad was massive and everything was fresh and well prepared. Chicken was grilled perfectly where it was still juicy. The patty melt is DELICIOUS. Definitely order it. The fries are also sneaky good. They cook them just right. I thought they would be oily or dry but they werent Service was on point as well. The place is not huge but it makes for a cozy atmosphere. we had a wonderful experience at george's! they had a very large variety of breakfast and lunch options. i got the nutella stuffed french toast, which wasn't really stuffed but kinda just had some nutella on top - which i honestly really preferred. other restaurants usually smother dishes in nutella which make it way too sweet and impossible to taste anything else. with this dish, you could taste the perfectly cooked french toast and the fresh berries on top. i also had a fried egg and some home fries, which were both cooked perfectly. my friend had a patty melt with fries, and he really enjoyed it. i think this was the first place in new york i've been to where the servers were actually nice to me. highly recommend! read more

What's not to like about this place? Food is quick to come out. Staff are incredibly courteous. You can basically order almost any food Americana. Life is great! I had the Grilled Reuben with Mozzarella and my buddy has the big breakfast with chocolate chip pancakes. The corn beef was a bit salty but overall my Reuben tasted great. The chocolate chip pancakes were light and fluffy. Tasted good even without syrup. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants more Americana. The staff makes the food tastes all that much better. Been here twice and the food is tasty, plentiful and is served hot (shouldn't be a big deal, but unfortunately many places the food only comes out warm...ish). Service was very nice and personal. I called in one order and no one picked up after 5 rings so I hung up. I was shocked that the woman at George's called me back 2 minutes later and apologized that she was unable to answer my call because she was taking someone else's order. My family ate at this restaurant food was ok but was cold when the bill arrived there was already a 20% gratuity, added to the bill crazy I just paid it. When I received the cc bill there was an up charge for a credit card fee $5.00 i confronted the waitress she said if you pay cash there is no fee I asked her that she should let customer know that there is an up charge for a credit card she said it's posted. A classic neighborhood diner - the food is good and comes out quickly, service is great and there is plenty of paid parking available. Came in with a group of six, and we were seated pretty quickly. I had the corned beef hash (which was delicious), and that was enough for me even though it was just a side. Standard fare diner food. It's what you expect and nothing more. The main problem comes to the price point... $14 and change for a buffalo chicken wrap? What about the Frank's red hot makes it so expensive (and more than many similar menu items)? Why is a tuna melt the same price as a cheese steak? From quesadillas to omelettes, all of the food is $3-4 more expensive (and sometimes more) than what you should expect to pay for regular diner food even in NYC. Make your prices reasonable and a lot more customers will sign up and you will actually bring in more revenue. read more

I love George's. They are great for a Saturday morning when you dont want to cook but you want good food. Every time I eat at George's I never regret it. Their food is delicious and their service is amazing. Also great for late night or early morning eats if you know what I mean. My only real complaint, I wish they had more seating but that's New York. Great hometown diner! It's my go to for weekend breakfast with friends and family. There really isn't anything bad and the staff is pretty fast. The owner is always around to say hello to guests and help the staff out. Just remember this is a old school diner and the food can be a little greasy but it's soooo good. They got my order wrong so I called Delivery.com to get a partial refund and when Delivery.com contacted the restaurant, the clerk basically called me a liar and refused to issue a refund so I will be escalating the issue and will ensure that I receive a partial refund FROM THE MERCHANT. Came into this diner today(SUNDAY FEBRUARY 19)and ordered French toast and eggs/w cheese. I noticed there was a hair in my food. I nicely called the waitress over and quietly told her about the hair. She said that she didn't see it. I pulled it out and showed her-she STILL said she did not see the hair in my hand(?) She then argued that "the hair could have come from anywhere or maybe it was from ME". WOW! We then asked the other server to come over so we could show him-he also said "it could have come from anywhere", WOW AGAIN!!!! NOT ONCE DID ANYONE TAKE THIS PLATE AWAY/SHOW IT TO THE KITCHEN/HELP FIX THE SITUATION OR EVEN APOLOGIZE. So we asked for the check-and they charged us for everything, we paid the check and left without eating. I will never EVER come here again! NO ONE SHOULD BECAUSE apparently they have UNSANITARY practices here and servers willing to defend it, that will blame the customer when told about something wrong w the food they are serving. A few years ago I walked into George's and my experience was not that great. The restaurant was mistreated and the food was just awful and I told myself I would never come back. But just 2 weeks ago I saw George's on TV and under a new owner so I had to go see what all the fuss was about. Walking into George's last night was shocking, I couldn't believe this was the same restaurant I came in a few years back. Everything is well maintained. Floors are clean and everything is new. Wow. I'm so glad I waited until seeing more reviews about George's to see everything so on point. I'm not very into diner style food but this, this is what all diners should be like. We walked in and were greeted by a friendly gentleman who managed to seat us right away even though the place was packed. Water and menus were brought right away. We ordered 3 different style egg dishes and gosh those portions are huge. And so so good. Tasty, hearty and the perfect breakfast delight. The service topped all. Our waitress was friendly and the food came to our tables stat. Free refills on coffee. The food is very well priced for the portion sizes. Parking was perfect on this rainy Saturday. We managed to park right out front. I think George's has now become my favourite weekend spot. It's exactly what this neighborhood needs. read more

Five stars for the food and service. I went on a Saturday afternoon and there was only one other family there. The service was attentive. We ordered 2 burgers with fries and onion rings. My burger with the mushrooms and bacon (check out the pic) was D-LICIOUS! Kinda greasy which is only expected and encouraged at a diner. Very filling. I was told the fries weren't salted but they definitely were seasoned. I usually have to add salt and pepper but not this time around. The onion rings were A-1. You know how usually onion rings can be a little soft and you bite in and all the onion comes out only leaving the breading? Well, not here. The onion rings were crispy and the onion stayed intact inside the breading once bitten into it. Burgers came with pickles and coleslaw. Decent enough. Definitely will be back! read more

I love George's so much. It is my favorite diner in New York -- all boroughs. It is a classic neighborhood spot, nothing kitschy or gimmicky. It's become my go-to don't-feel-like-cooking, really-want-x choice and it reminds me of the coney islands I grew up in, minus the loose burgers. :( Definitely taking my father here when he visits. Although we live in Ohio, we make it a point to visit George's every time we go to Brooklyn. Our waitress was exceptionally nice. She asked about our travels and helped us decide on what to order. My mom got the French Toast and was blown away. The service was quick and the ambiance was reminiscent of the New York Dream. We talked with the owner about how hard Covid was for them, but she said she couldn't complain because the restaurant was still up and running. Although they temporarily shut down indoor seating due to Covid, they are a full service dine in/take out/delivery now. If I lived closer, I would go two to three times a week. This was my first time at George's & I loved how nicely the lady working there dealt with me. I also loved the large seating area inside even though we took our food to go. The nutella stuffed french toast would've gotten 5 stars, but what ruined the taste was that parts of the french toast tasted savory. It basically tasted like they hadn't properly cleaned the area that they toasted the bread on so the taste of chicken or whatever they had cooked on their before latched onto the french toast. It was Thanksgiving and it was my plan to stay home. I was still wanting the turkey meal experience, and I checked in with George's. They had a complete meal on the menu, and I took a chance. Came on a weeknight around 9pm and it was pretty empty. I think they were closing in about an hour. I ordered the philly cheesesteak and it came with fries, a pickle and coleslaw. Felt like there wasn't enough cheese on the sandwich because the sandwich was pretty dry. When I think of a Philly cheesesteak I like the meat and the cheese to blend together so you get a little bit in each bite. However I just felt like the cheese was stuck to the bread on the bottom.
