Came on a weeknight around 9pm and it was pretty empty. I think they were closing in about an hour. I ordered the philly cheesesteak and it came with fries, a pickle and coleslaw. Felt like there wasn't enough cheese on the sandwich because the sandwich was pretty dry. When I think of a Philly cheesesteak I like the meat and the cheese to blend together so you get a little bit in each bite. However I just felt like the cheese was stuck to the bread on the bottom. The food was good, my boyfriend was thrilled with the portions in the omelette w/potatoes and toast. Made with fresh ingredients, both meals were hearty, with all possible condiments included. If customers could get reviews mine would be one star. I ordered a heap of breakfast on freezing cold New Year's Day and forgot to turn my phone on. So the poor guy was calling, and waiting and calling. I contacted the restaurant and Yelp (Eat24) and both were polite and understanding. They sent the delivery guy back 10 minutes later & the food was still warm. Everyone handled my mess-up quickly and gracefully on a busy holiday. Given the bustle of NYC this is a testament to professionalism and "the customer is always right" attitude. Wish there were more places like this! read more

I have lived in the Ditmas Park neighborhood for about 20 years and I remember the old George's. It was taken over about a year-and-a-half ago and I have to say it was a move to better ways... much better food! The staff is super friendly... the food is delicious. The only drawback is that it's not a big place and they probably only have about 15 tables if that. Meaning if you come here for breakfast on the weekends half the time you have to wait. Menu cheap and affordable... well by the standards of this neighborhood now.. this is one of my go-to places especially if I want breakfast. They serve a killer eggs benedict! I always ask for it with regular bacon yummy. They have really good wraps and delicious pancakes.. This does not detract in any way from my review that I will say that I feel like there's too many people working there.. they are always Milling around in the second you finish something they ask you if they can take it which of course is not always a bad thing... just makes me feel a little bad on the weekends if there's people waiting for my table when they're staring waiting for me to finish all of that could be just me!! Such a great little place! Came in right before close and ordered the turkey and arugula wrap. Waitress was so sweet and poured me a free coffee while I waited ("decaf! It's late!"). Wrap was so yummy and fresh and side salad was great too. Would definitely come back! read more

Not unexpectedly (because I have been here before but never gotten around to writing the review), we had a great breakfast at George's this morning. I had a Belgium waffle and my friend had eggs, home fries and a bagel. The bagel did not match those at some other area bagel places but everything else was spot on and when my friend wanted her poached egg cooked more, they immediately replaced it with one that was! I will never go back to George's Restaurant again. They have a horrible Russian waitress who doesn't listen and she makes stupid looking faces When you give her an order. A few years ago she worked at the Arch dinner and the manager told me the we're going to fire her because she makes a lot of mistakes. Last time I was there with my wife, the waitress gave us a hard time made weird faces and had the nerve to lie to the owner. My husband and I knew we had to come try this neighborhood staple and we weren't disappointed. It'll be your average neighborhood diner with lots of options and open around the clock. I had the eggs benedict which was ok. He had a burger which wasn't bad. Most people around us were eating burgers on a Saturday at noon. For most of our relationship, my husband has loathed going to diners with me (one of my favorite eating experiences) -- but George's has changed his mind! Over the past few years they have become part of our neighborhood family, with the kindest service and truly delicious food! I personally recommend the Hungry Man special for breakfast, any Greek pita dishes at lunch, and the meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner. Went here on a Saturday for a late dinner. It was very quiet and cozy. The menu has a great variety. I had a vegetarian panini and mixed green salad and both were very hearty and delicious. This place rules. Traditional diner on Coney Island Ave with everything you could want from a diner menu. Hosts are kind, friendly, and welcoming, and the atmosphere is everything you'd want it to be. Food is delicious (had lox benedict and home fries this go around), waitstaff is attentive and pleasant to talk to. Couldn't have asked for a better place to eat. Regarding a recent review on here: Everyone has bad dining experiences that they hold onto, especially those where biases come into play -- perceived or otherwise. Most people come onto this site because they had either the best experience ever or the worst one. (I had a really great one, and I thought I'd sing the praises of the owners.) I am someone who used to work in the service industry, knowing that tips are more or less the lifeblood of a server. I'm also more than familiar with the area (as are the longtime owners and workers, obviously), so while racist and prejudiced incidents and micro-aggressions can and do happen anywhere, it is more than likely given the owner and workers' knowledge of the area and its clientele that what happened was simply a misalignment of priorities by the waitstaff and hopefully not an intentional slight due to prejudice. Maybe I'm naive in believing we live in a world where, in a rather liberal part of a rather liberal city, the overwhelming majority of waitstaff will not sacrifice their pay just to treat others unfairly, but after several trips to George's, I'm fairly certain I'm not. read more

Pancakes were about average. The wrap was phenomenal in the sense that it actually tasted like a meal instead of a wannabe salad in light carbs. Great place for all meals as they have a full menu not just for breakfast. Think about your average diner, and add quality care/ingredients and you got this place. Food is delicious, service is top notch, friendly and inviting. Even the relationships between the staff within the establishment was warm and inviting. Generally come for breakfast and have been many times. Love that I can get grits with my eggs. Good, friendly service and solid diner food. My only criticism is the toast - it's never very good. It appears that the toast is made by the servers, then added to the meal on the way out. Most times, the toast is cold. I want warm buttered toast with my breakfast, and this seems like something that can be easily fixed. read more
