Home fries were nothing special, but the corned beef hash-MMMM- that corned beef hash. I'm going to have dreams about this delightfully delectable side dish. Service was quick and clean. I've been a Ditmas Avenue resident for 35 years. George's whole corner was always a staple throughout my childhood, teen, and early adult life. From breakfast and lunch get togethers to after hours straight from closing a bar. I will forever miss its former glory. You guys did a great well overdue renovation. You welcomed my family with smiles, fresh quality food, and excellent dedication. Breakfast is a treat. Coffee and water refills are offered often. All meals are portioned very well. This neighborhood has missed a well stocked diner and you finally fill a needed void. sorry, george's. you just lost a very good longtime customer. when you re-opened, i supported you - even though your pricing had shot up. i get it - the place was a mess before. you had to renovate, reinvent, invest. it makes sense that your prices had to go up, and i get that. the problem is they went WAY up. (like "price-goug-ey, taking advantage of your customers" way up). and it was on food (like pancakes) that should NOT be cost prohibitive (for customers on a budget) as they are cost efficient to produce. save your price hikes for menu items that truly merit a hike. pancakes are literally batter on a grill - it's not rocket science, and it doesn't cost you a NASA sized budget to make them for (poorer) people who (also) need to eat. so when i called today for my usual chocolate chip pancake with bacon order, and found out it's ANOTHER $2 now with NEW pricing hikes, you lost me. i didn't want to post this bad review - i like george's. i like the people, the workes, the owners. everyone is super friendly and i want them to succeed. that's what makes this all the more baffling for me WHY can't they understand that they are LOSING BUSINESS because of this irreverent pricing for their loyal, longtime customers??? again, i get that prices go up. sure. but a bird in the hand beats two in the bush. maybe if they slowed their roll with this "upscale" pricing, they would get more orders. more birds in the hand, more business. and then they'd be able to STAY in business, by serving the PEOPLE (the masses / volume / numbers) instead of trying to stay afloat going the "upscale" route. seeing this all over the neighborhood was bad enough. seeing vox pop go was bad enough. now you can't even get a cup of coffee at the diner without seeing the contents of your wallet (and some of your emergency money) go on a fucking order of pancakes. read more

Losing 2 more customers, new owners of George's! They seldomly get the order right. Charged me 3 times for cheese on ONE omelette. They do not serve real butter, instead? Margarine and they keep thinking it is butter and sending it without us asking. They always gave us vegetarian meals, but today they decided to add a surprise to the piece of bacon on the omelette. Todays final order took an hour and a half. I think they had time to tweak the order and put pork in our vegetarian meal after EAT24 called them to clarify that we requested 2 cheeses not 3. Surprised they forgot to charge for that piece of pork. Mike might have been upset about the 1.25 refund and who knows how pork got on the cheese. The homefries were on top of the cheese omelette everything combined. Order was late and cold, see photos. They refused to refund us for the food we cannot eat and is now in the garbage. However we are lucky that EAT24 is kind and understanding enough to provide us with full credit. read more

My boyfriend told this place was a part of his childhood, and although I was skeptical due to many of the reviews, he told me that it re-opened after renovations. I ordered a veggie panini with fries which came with pickles and coleslaw on the side and bf's order was a Coney Island burger with fries which also came with the same two extra sides. Let me say that the food proportions are MASSIVE. Secondly, it tastes like classic diner food which hit the spot but I do prefer my vegetables to be a bit more seasoned. George's is an old school American joint so I don't expect it to be super seasoned but still...this a heavily ethnic area so spices go a long way. Other than that pretty good. This newly reopened restaurant is the perfect family dinner needed for the Ditmas Park area. My husband and I with our daughter went on a Saturday night around 7pm. There was plenty of seating and the restaurant was super clean. I ordered the fried chicken and my hubs got the open faced steak sandwich. We were both madly in love with our meals. We barely talked! The fried chicken was perfectly crispy battered and moist chicken inside. The sandwich had a lot of juicy steak and the fries were perfectly fried. George's piled on, at the very least, the equivalent of two fat juicy chicken breasts on this beast feast.. If I hadn't eaten since 6 am, I wouldn't be able to finish it.. My daughters Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap, same chicken treatment.. Only 'negative' thing I can say, there was no gyro lamb meat on the menu.. I try to order OTC - 'Other Than Chicken' when possible, but no other real option listed. I highly recommend giving them a try.. read more
