We reached out to Genesis for a chimney sweep and to get chimney caps installed. Our technician, Ben, was awesome to work with! He actually identified that one of our fireplaces was not up to code (something that wasn't really highlighted in our home inspection report). He couldn't install the caps and do the sweep on the same day, since there was snow on the roof. So he did the sweep, and told us he would install the caps after the snow had melted. Even though I got a special discount as a new customer, most likely I won't use Genesis Home Services nor recommend it to others. Mike was friendly and helpful in terms of explaining some gas fireplace related basics. He did some vacuum cleaning work too. The problem that I experienced was the fire was too small and I was wondering if there is something needed to be adjusted. Mike spend about 15-20 mins checking the pilot and other things. In the end he said that the pilot is just not powerful enough and I need to buy one (more expensive for about $1k). Basically, after he left I got exactly the same problem, actually pilot started taking longer time to fire up. He haven't clean the fireplace properly, doors stayed dirty, too. I was expecting a bit more work especially since he was not able to fix the main issue. Luckily I found a video and bought a compressed air solution ($5), cleaned up some contacts and outputs and guess what - voila, everything works just awesome. Glad I decided to check it by myself and still not sure for what I spent about $300. read more

Genesis Home Services advertised free inspection on Yelp. I scheduled an inspection. One of their technician came out. He charged me $262 for inspection fee. I told him that during the course of scheduling, Dave never mentioned this fee to me. And their ad on Yelp lists FREE inspection. The technician told me that the fee would be credited if I choose their bid. I ended up paying him $250 with the cash that I had on hand to be done with it.
