DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY UNTIL YOUR JOB IS FINISHED *AND* CORRECTLY INSTALLED. I deeply regret hiring this fly-by-night operation. Monroe's management/customer relations team has been nothing but disorganized, unresponsive, and full of excuses when it comes to resolving their own procurement and operations problems. Essentially, we've been trying to get them to finish the job that we paid them for in January--almost 4 months ago!! We hired Monroe to replace a wood-burning fireplace with a gas fireplace, including demo, installing new slate tile trim and hearth and a new mantel. The main work was done in January, and I have nothing but good to say about the subs who actually did this work. They were efficient, professional, worked fine around our pets, and we're happy with the new fireplace. HOWEVER, the mantel that we ordered from Monroe was not right, not even close to expected, so we told the subs not to install it. Monroe agreed to order a replacement, and they demanded that we pay the rest of the invoice in good faith. In the months since, we've contacted Monroe countless times via email and phone, and each time, we have to reintroduce ourselves and re-explain the problem. Each time, Monroe tells us that the mantel is on its way, or it's backordered, or it's in the facility but they haven't scheduled the install yet, or whatever. Damon is always busy/out of the office/will call us back, despite countless messages left on his line. Monroe Fireplace is still blowing us off as I write this. read more

We got shafted by Rich's from a pellet stove thatbroke that we bought from them. (Cancelled appointments, changing parts that didn't need it and broken promises they had the part). Its the only source of heat in the house. Called Monroe Fireplace and explained the dilema. They told me I could manually light the pellets because it was 30 degrees in my house with 3 space heaters. They came out that week and brought extra parts with them and was able to repair it. Highly recommend Drew (our tech) and the entire Service team went beyond. We wanted two new gas inserts to replace the old wood fireplaces. Damon came out to do the measurements and estimate, he was professional, knowledgeable and helpful in providing the information we need to select the correct size inserts. They were able to fit us into their installation schedule earlier than originally promised. The total cost was reasonable but the workmanship of the installation left something to be desired. After getting a couple of bids, we decided to go with Monroe Fireplace for our new gas insert. Damon came out for a home visit and helped us select the right unit for our space. I appreciate that they sell only the highest quality products. We had a fairly difficult installation because if our retro 60's stone faced fireplace, but he assured me that they had the skill to "make it look right". Other competitors said "no way, it will look terrible." Today the team showed up for the install. They were polite, took care to cover our new flooring, and worked quickly to install our fireplace in just a few hours. Joe did a fantastic job doing some custom trim work to make it fit nicely. When I asked for bids many fireplace places agreed to set appointments and gave me prices but didn't discuss if they could work with my specific fireplace or not. Sales and showroom are very nice with excellent customer service. My experience with their installation team wasn't great. Scheduling anything was a pain - lots of down time with no heat. Fireplace insert install seemed okay, but I was getting smoke entering the house. They automatically assume user error, but it turns out they didn't follow the manufacturers install guide to seal the flue to the unit. They did come back out to seal it (and wipe black fireplace cement on my white mantle). I compared their job to the install manual and they omitted 1 of the 3 brackets securing the flue because they broke off a screw in the insert and just tried to hide it. It's still not functioning particularly well - My carbon monoxide alarms are going off overnight, but at this point I'd rather pay someone else to come track down the issue and do the job right rather than get another patch job from these guys. I'd steer clear if you want anything that involves installation, but that's just my experience. read more

Love monroe Fireplace and grill. Easy free parking. Very informative knowledgeable staff. They do not push a sale on you. I went three times before making a commitment Yona fancy BBQ. They helped deliver my BBQ because I did not have a truck. Then I could not figure out how to work it. Over the phone he walked me through it. Then my dog literally ate the BBQ power cord within a week of owning the BBQ. So they ordered a replacement part came to my home fixed it. Then I was a ding bat and didn't realize I hadn't paid for the part. She kindly called me a couple months later and I gladly paid immediately. The kindness, local store neighborly approach to clients is hands down super. Thank you so very much for treating me like a neighbor and not just a customer. I love stores like this in Monroe. I am incredibly pleased with the helpfulness and great service I experienced with Monroe Fireplace. We had someone come out to give us an estimate for a wood burning stove and it turns out we just happen to have an fireplace with abnormal dimensions. The estimator wasn't deterred by the challenge. He ended up finding a refurbished unit that had just come in and had a custom panel ordered to fit the odd dimensions. When the stove was installed the custom panel didn't quite fit and they sent someone out to trim the panel down for no extra charge. All in all we were within $11 of our original budget and we couldn't be happier with how the wood stove looks and functions. I wish we had gotten this done years ago. We paid almost 5,000 dollars last year for an electric fireplace to be installed. We used it only twice and it doesn't work now. Called them to come check on it and they refused to come out because my husband had put wood paneling around it (didn't touch the fireplace at all). Had our new linear fireplace installed yesterday and it works great and looks beautiful. Monroe Fireplace guided us along the way to pick out the perfect fireplace for us. They did a pretty good job at keeping us informed as to when it would arrive, and the gentlemen who installed it were professional and friendly. Would love to give a 5 star rating if it wasn't for the fact that the crushed-glass combo we asked for was not written correctly at point of sale. We let them know and thought it was fixed. Once installed I noticed it was still not the combination we asked for. We went in today to pay our final balance and mentioned the glass error, and the employee's response was "that's not what's written on the invoice." I explained the mix-up and he offered to give me the correct glass at half price. Though this was their mistake I decided it wasn't worth the extra cost. Paid the bill and the sales person looks at us and says "So are we done here?" What a pleasant way to thank a customer who just spent over $8,000 with them. read more

I was treated with respect, given honest advice, and not pushed or rushed to buy something that I didn't want. I purchased a Harman P43 pellet stove from Jerimah in March, after he took his time helping me understand and decide (as I was new to pellet stoves). I received help loading it into my truck, and he even stayed late so I could get heat in my home in the middle of winter. I installed it myself (they carry everything you need to install it DIY), and I couldn't be more satisfied. I highly recommend the company and the Harman brand stoves. I am currently in the process of buying a second pellet stove from Monroe Fireplace. The service was wonderful, and the products are high quality. Damon provided an in home estimate. He called ahead of arrival, and was right on time. He was knowledgeable, friendly, professional, helpful, and (again) did not try to sell me anything I didn't need or want. He took time to answer all my questions, and thoroughly explained everything. I'm buying a second pellet stove, and having them install it for me this time. They have earned my business for life. I highly recommend going here first, and then shop around to see the difference. You'll quickly see how other stores are more than happy to push a garbage product on you, and get you out the door. Need help, parts, service, or have a question? The other stores don't care about you once you walk out, and they don't stock replacement parts either. Consider this before you buy, because a breakdown always happens at the worst time. When you need a part in the middle of winter, you know Monroe Fireplace stocks everything you need. They also offer service, so you're back up in no time at all. It can take weeks to get a part from the "big box stores", and you're stuck installing it. I purchased (and had installed) a wood burning stove from Monroe Fireplace. Initial estimate / scheduling went well. After the initial installation, I was told some pieces needed to be modified to complete the installation of the cover pieces and trim. No problem (I thought). What followed was two and a half months of calls to Monroe Fireplace to keep the ball rolling and to get any sort of update. I would call for an update, and be told someone would call me back. Nobody would call for a week, so I would call again, and talk to a different person who had no idea what my situation was. This repeated for the entire two and half months. About half-way through this I started asking to speak to the owner, Damon, directly. I thought that would improve things, but it barely did. Damon's call-back percentage was about 50%, so it was better than nothing (low bar at that point). Each call seemed to require a recap of the process; me filling them in on the details, and them not knowing what was happening and having to call me back (but generally not doing so as previously described). If this was a big box store, I could understand that. But this is a small business with only a handful of people at the office. The worst part was Damon (the owner) was not surprised by all of this, and made no effort to apologize about the poor customer service. In fact the only apology I got was from the final installer, who was actually surprised when he learned of the situation (as the owner should have been). I of course was nice to the installer and told him it was not his fault and that I appreciated that he was there and actually doing the work (they should promote that guy to actually deal with the customers). The wood stove itself works well so far. Unfortunately the poor customer service and lack of care from the owner will have me looking elsewhere for future fireplace needs and service. read more

He then called that dealer/installer to make sure they come up to south Seattle, before calling me back and giving me the info I needed. Terrible customer service. I spoke to someone on Yelp who suggested I call to schedule an appointment. That was fine. I call to do that and the woman on the phone was an absolute nightmare. She was rude and condescending. We tried to tell her we are new home owners and have never used our pellet stove. We were told it needed repair or a consultation for a new one. She refused to schedule us an appointment for repair or a consultation for a new one until we scheduled a cleaning. The cleaning was an extra cost that may not have even been necessary if we ended up buying a new one. We ended up going to Kirkland fireplace. Their customer service and repairman was phenomenal. Our unit was able to be repaired and we saved a lot of money thanks to Kirkland. Steer clear from Monroe. read more
