Purchased two gas fireplaces from Kirkland Fireplace in 2021 to replace a very old Kirkland wood burning fireplace. One has quit now. Have replaced batteries in both remote and the fireplace and tried reset as spelled out in the manual. Called Kirkland Fireplace. They said we are out of warranty and they could schedule a maintenance call for a minimum of $450. $250 plus an extra $200 for milage. Spent $7,532 on these two fireplaces. Very disappointed in the product they installed needing repair so soon, and their customer service. read more

We used Kirkland Fireplace for an insert in our remodeled family room. We got great service, a professional install, and love our insert. We returned to Kirkland Fireplace when we thought the very old gas fireplace in our Mother's condo was dead. We were told by one repair person that parts were no longer available and it needed to be replaced. Aaron went over our measurements and pictures of the old fireplace. In addition to showing us good options for a replacement, he also recommended Precision Energy to have a look at the old one. My husband and I just recently purchased a gas insert from Kirkland fireplace. While our experience was mostly positive, the poor communication between their teams finally made me loose my patience. Our quote and sales process was easy. They didn't try to oversell us on anything and we felt like what they recommended was appropriate for our needs. They ask for 50% payment upfront, which was a couple grand. Once they took our card they said they'd be in touch right away to come finalize measurements and get us on the schedule. I finally had to reach out and get these scheduled. It's never a good feeling when a company takes money and then lags with communication. Okay we're finally on the schedule. Our sales guy came to our house to finalize measurements and he explained that there is a surround to complete the look and it would be cut and installed same day as the insert. Seemed easy enough. Install day came and our installer, who we had not worked with prior, didn't have the surround and told us he never got the measurements for it. This is in no way his fault - but then the poor guy had to ask for the remaining 50% payment without the job being done. This put him and us in an extremely awkward position. What's more - there was a tip prompt when you pay the final bill, for an install? I had never seen this before. Another awkward moment. The installer felt bad about the situation and worked quickly to get us the surround within 48 hours. Asking for thousands in final payment is not good business practice and unfortunately makes me hesitate to recommend Kirkland Fireplace to friends and family. read more

We just installed our 2nd gas fireplace in our house in Redmond. About 18 years ago we had Kirkland fireplace install a gas fireplace instead of the wood burning one. They replaced the oversized mantel and the brick face with faux river rock. The install was so much better than expected. No one could ever tell the rock was not real. The gentlemen who did the install carefully chose the placement of each rock to make sure it was aesthetically pleasing. So happy with the install and the subsequent years of maintenance. We loved our fireplace so much that we had Kirkland Fireplace install a newer, larger, linear gas fireplace when we remodeled a newly purchased home a year ago. The sales process was fabulous. I would have made several purchasing errors if it were not for their expertise. They also did a design for me so I could have the construction crew create the right frame for the wall with the bookshelves on each side of the fireplace and the have all the necessary wiring for the television which would be installed above the fireplace. They also solved the issue of heat affecting my T.V. by recommending a steel mantel. All my guests love the mantel and have asked where I purchased it. I'm writing this review because we just had them out for a "repair". As always, the serviceperson was amazing. Called ahead when he was on his way, on time, courteous, and covered my wood floor so no damage was done. He was finished lickety split. Fireplace is fine and works great! I love this company and would highly recommend them for everything fire related! read more

Fast forward a decade when I tried to get service to come out since it shuts down after 20 minutes and they couldn't be bothered. We bought our fireplace from Kirkland Fireplace about 20 years ago and our experience then was a positive one. This review is for my experience today. Last week the tempered glass on our gas fireplace shattered. I figured that this would be a fairly easy replacement, as it's a standard 36" size. I called and found out that our brand of fireplace has been discontinued. OK, that's going to be a nuisance if a brand-specific part breaks, but it shouldn't be a big deal for a pane of glass, right? Nope. Because they no longer sell this brand, they won't sell us ANY tempered glass. I'm not expecting a warranty replacement or anything like that, but are you really trying to tell me that you don't have any 36" tempered glass? It's still one of the most standard sizes. I'll find a fireplace store that wants to take care of their customers, and when the rest of the fireplace needs work, they'll get my business too. As for Kirkland Fireplace, I won't waste my time again. read more

Clearly this company excels in contractor business and not directly with the consumer. I walked in with one guy leaning on the counter and the other behind the counter. Neither said a word to me and I had to initiate the conversation. Awkward! After I told them I was looking to replace an electric fireplace in my condo, one of the guys proceeded to tell me that the space looked more like a condo built in 1996 vs 2006 and started listing all the things I needed to do to fix it. I had to ask if he had anything that would work for the measurements as well as had to ask for pricing. He was clearly not interested in selling anything to me and acted put out that I was even there. I live in a condo of 32 units, many of who are looking to replace their fireplaces as well and I said I'd check this place out. I'm passing on my experience with all of them. read more

Very disappointing customer service. Bored guy on the phone was unconcerned that my fireplace didn't work during the long power outage recently... though the batteries had been replaced only 4 1/2 months previously during a routine maintenance call (and the fireplace is otherwise fine). He launched into repetitious and condescending "advice" about the importance of keeping batteries replaced. I tested the batteries and they're fine, but I'll be calling some other company for service from now on... and for replacement when it comes time. We went to only two purveyors of fireplace inserts, so don't have a lot of comparison info. The first has several showrooms around the area and is named by an original owner's first name (I'm guessing). The sales person there did a decent job and gave us a couple of quotes on the spot. Kirkland only sells fireplace products, not furniture and hot tubs etc, and as a result, really know the product. We showed up with another party and the salesperson (Craig) took care of us both simultaneously. He has a very dry sense of humor which I enjoy, but I could see it impacting others differently, but not me. Regardless, he knows fireplaces and did a great job. It took a few days for the quote to arrive and I needed to nudge a bit, but when it came, it contained exactly what we expected, also was significantly lower than the competition for the exact same unit (model 616). I am handy and did the installation myself, so I can't comment on anything but the sale and the follow on support. We were given the incorrect liner kit, but the parts guy John took full responsibility and they delivered the replacement including some extra pipe and a coupler (we have a tall home), at no extra charge the following day. Also, since I hadn't done this work before myself, they provided me with some useful installation tips and tricks. After purchasing a see-through gas fireplace, a glass door for a wood burning fireplace and hiring them to install gas in a third fireplace, and spending several thousand a number of years ago, I had to get a replacement burner for one of our gas only fireplaces. I took in the old burner and said I want to replace this; as it was quite rusted and many holes plugged. Order placed, $100 deposit given. Was called a few days later and told the replacement had come in. When I went to pick it up, I opened the box and looked at the item I wanted said "it looks a little smaller", but unfortunately I paid the balance ($117) and took it home. Hindsight, I should have not paid the balance. Come to find out after getting it home it is a smaller burner. I took in an 18" and they ordered a 16" for me. My goal is to get more output from this burner, not less. They would not give me a full refund even though it was their fault I did not get what I asked for they charged me 25% restocking fee! I don't think I should be charged a restocking fee when the clerk (JV) did not order the same item I took into the store. read more

I purchased a fireplace from them, they don't really explain the entire process of replacing a gas fireplace and make you feel inadequate. I am not happy with their fireplace choice, their recommended installer/finish work people, or the final outcome of said project. For $6,000.+ I expected a fire place with decent size flame, puts out heat, new granite to line up, be level and clean, and not to leave grout all over the face of the new insert~ and I think they installed it too far into the wall. Large gaps and damaged wall all around insert. The finished product looks terrible. When I went to pay the balance after all completed, they didn't even ask if I was satisfied, if I liked it, how it went or anything... just took my money and said have a nice day. read more

I hate giving bad reviews. Really do. Unfortunately, this is a review on service and not on the product itself. Though we agreed on a price and a deposit was made, we never got to actually see the product. The way I was raised, I'm only as good as my word and my experience with Kirkland Fireplace is that they backed out on not one, but two written and verbal agreements. It was an agreement based on one of their employee's mistakes and (unknown to me) would not have produced much profit but an agreement nonetheless. As a small business owner myself, I've had to eat the cost of my own mistakes but I'll always do that over not living up to my word. The backstory. In mid May we contacted Kirkland Fireplace for a quote on a cream colored stove to put in our fireplace. After exploring a few options, we received a quote we were happy with. We noticed the price was slightly discounted on the bid and asked about the reason why but never got an answer. Not knowing what these stoves were worth but knowing the price quoted fit our budget, we paid the deposit and set a date for inspection, chimney sweep and install. A day or two after paying the 50% deposit we received a call saying the price quoted was a mistake on their end and we were given two options: pay the difference for the mistaken price or cancel the order. This after a month and a half of back and forth emails. This was a big inconvenience since the price and timing was planned around other home renovations. I mentioned arbitration was a third option. The next day I got a call from the owner, fairly upset, that I was threatening to sue him. Arbitration is literally the textbook opposite of a lawsuit. The owner explained that at the quoted price they would lose money on the stove and asked if I could at least pay their cost of the stove and of course the installation and delivery. I agreed and sent an email to confirm my willingness to pay the new, higher price to avoid their loss. About 20 minutes after that I received an email from the owner saying they could no longer supply us with the stove, venting or installation and I should contact another vendor. Disappointing after all the time invested. But we did. We contacted Sutter Hearth and after a few emails back and forth we received an accurate quote faster, and will actually have the stove installed before we'd expected to have Kirkland complete the install. Personally, I'd rather go with a company that sticks to their word even though it might cost a bit more. From my experience, if we'd had any issues with kirkland we might run in to more costly mistakes and backtracking on agreements. read more

Horrible! Bought a universal door kit, and at time of purchase Aaron told me that there was a 20% restocking fee for returns. Turned out that they forgot to mention that these doors are designed to sit on the floor, which is not possible with my fireplace. When I went to return it and order a new one, the owner/manager Pat told me that the could "hang the 15lb door with straps and plumbers tape" for $175, or they would consign it for me and see what I get. He explained that even though his employee made a commitment, that he would not honor the return policy. Regardless of service, options, etc... I would never recommend doing business with anyone who lets his employees make promises to land a sale, and then reneges on those promises. Follow-up - The a-holes wouldn't even refund my door, and when I disputed the charge through my bank they are continuing to fight me. They want to refund $375 out of the $456 that I paid and think I'll just walk away. THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEFS!!!! Continuing to dispute them through the bank, including the return receipt they gave me, and considering taking them to small claims court. read more

Truth be told, we went to Kirkland Fireplace primarily because they're the ONLY dealers for Lopi within driving distance, except for Rich's For The Home -- and dealing with Rich's is as ugly as it gets. The guys at Kirkland Fireplace got what we needed quickly, and when they realized they hadn't reminded us to get gaskets with the combuster for our Lopi Leyden stove (a real PITA device, which we sadly sourced from Rich's), one of the guys drove over to Travis Industries to get our ten-dollar part for us the same day we called. A pleasure to deal with them, as they are both well-informed and keep a sense of humor about things. Wish we'd made our stove purchase there. read more

Am QUITE surprised by some of the negative comments written recently. Seems like a totally different company than the one my husband and I have experienced. Our sales guy - Aaron Brown - was patient, helpful, stayed within the budget we had & certainly gave us many options to choose from. He was professional and truly delightful to work with throughout the entire process - from choices, to the sale, to the installation date and follow up....very accommodating. It really was so easy to work with him. We purchased a gas insert for a current fireplace - the price was reasonable,the insert was installed yesterday - the installer was very good. Today, King County inspector was here to inspect and said how impressed he was with the workmanship. Every time I have called with questions or advice, anyone I've spoken to has been helpful, friendly and very polite. We will HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company to all our friends and encourage them to ask for Aaron Brown to help them with their purchase. WE ARE VERY PLEASED! read more

I think after reading that babies are entranced by twinkling lights and fire (think caveman times and the only form of entertainment!), we decided it was time to upgrade from our old wood-burning fireplace to a new gas, remote-controlled one (hello, this century!) that we would actually use! We stepped in at the end of the day on a weekend and the guy working was very helpful and friendly despite closing time inching closer each second. We asked a few questions and figured out what we needed to know on the spot and requested some flyers which he was happy to share with us. He wasn't pushy at all, just informative and friendly as a good salesman should be. We arranged the rest of our order by phone and even requested a weekend day install of the unit. After having the chimney cleaner come by (as recommended by KF) someone from the store even came by to make sure we had all the measurements correct to ensure a smooth installation day. At this point we also specified exactly what we wanted for the fireplace options. Everything was pretty much smooth sailing until we tried to arrange the installation day. We ended up calling a few times to find out progress of finding a contractor to come on a Saturday; it would have been nice if the scheduling person actually called us back the day they said they would, but it's a small bump in an otherwise easy process I suppose. We were just glad that we actually were able to have someone come on a weekend which was easier for us. It also would have been nice to have someone call us to confirm/remind us about the appointment the night before (as the cable company does) just so we weren't hoping they wouldn't forget! In the end, though, someone did come when we expected them -- early even!! (unlike the cable company!) -- and got everything installed in the time anticipated. If we were to want/need another fireplace, we'd definitely be back... but, because we probably won't while living in this house, we're happy to just recommend them to friends and fellow yelpers!! read more

I Called Kirkland Fireplace for an estimate, but the person who answered the phone was rude, cut me off mid sentence and told me it was not "the best use of his time" to come out to my house and a quote for a new fireplace. He even told me I would need to measure it before I came in, which means I have to figure what and how. It is not a 'brick" fireplace, so any measurement would be rough and thus pointless. So I ended our discussion and decided to call a company that would come out... Which I will review after they do the job.... Strange in that I live close by and that I was asking about spending thousands of dollars for a new Fireplace, one would think they would be interested. Pity, it would have been nice to deal with someone local , I like to support local companies. read more

After sales service. Not good. Slow to respond. Have to call them more than once to get a warranty service scheduled. We purchased our fireplace through their sister store in Maple Valley. We made an installation appointment about 2 months in advance. Tom showed up on time on the day of our appointment. He did an AMAZING job! He really took his time, and paid attention to all the details. He had to cut out the old fireplace from the side of our house, fit it all in, fix a gas leak and put all the siding back. He did such a great job you can't even tell it had been worked on. Tom was quiet, but really friendly and nice. The communication from him and Kirkland Fire Supply was excellent. I highly recommend them. Thank you, Tom! read more

I had a great experience buying a wood burning insert (Lopi Answer). It's been installed for a couple of months so hopefully any problems should have surfaced. So far none have. Sales: * Much better service than the local "chain" stores. They took a lot of time to figure out what I needed and how I was to going to use the insert based on past inserts I have used. * They came out & visited my house to take final fireplace measurements and confirm that the size of the insert would fit the construction/size of my house. (I'm knocking off a star here though because it took *a lot* of negotiation to find a time suitable for both of us. I'm sorry, if you're in sales you need to suck it up & fight rush hour traffic once in a while). * The price including the install was one of the lowest I was quoted. * They recommended a great company for some brick tuck pointing (and chimney cleaning). Install: * The installer came right on time and was very clean. Important when you're dealing with a sooty old chimney. * He spent a lot of time cutting & grinding the surround panel to fit perfectly in my arched brick fireplace opening. Everyone comments on how good it looks. * When I asked the chimney sweeps about good installers they said the two best in the Seattle area are the ones that work for Kirkland Fireplace, and Sutter Hearth. Final Result: * It seems to heat my space perfectly. Not overly hot. * I was warned the one downside to the Answer was I would have to fill it up with wood every 3 hours or so. That's 90% correct; I find I can get hardwood to last 6-8 hours. * It has been incredibly easy to start and no smoke ever wafts back down into the house, even in November gales, so the install must be good from a technical as well as visual aspect. read more

I had a great experience with Kirkland Fireplace. Before I contacted them, I had a wood insert installed by another company. It melted the paint on my hearth, and didn't heat my space at all. I was concerned it would burn my house down. There was quite a battle to have them remove it and refund my money. They kept $750 of what I paid because they subcontracted the installation and could not refund it. Kirkland Fireplace made it all right. They installed a proper insert that heats well, and worked with me so that in the end the cost ended up being a wash. They did a great job, were professional, efficient, and thoughtful. read more
