While others had suggested replacement, Green Bear took the time to repair instead -- saving me thousands. I now have heat and confidence in the work that was done. I would absolutely hire Green Bear again and have already referred him to friends.

tldr - if it's related to HVAC, call the installer of your HVAC system if possible…read more I called Green Bear to take a look at an HVAC system (on second floor) that was leaking water on the 1st floor ceiling (due to AC condensation). They sent someone over, who didn't really open the HVAC system panel much. I didn't seem confident that this would fix it. But they recommended to fix the drain pan inside the evaporator coil box, which they said was much more expensive. For clearing the drain pipe and gluing a loose pipe, which didn't actually fix the main problem, they still billed me $300 - diagnostic fee ($99) + 1 hour ($199) - (there's a 3% credit card fee, but they accept checks) 4 or 5 hours later, there was dripping again. I ended up calling Bob's, they sent 2 technicians who knew what they were doing (they opened the panel properly), they found and fixed the issue - it did not involve replacing a drain pan. Bob's only charged me the diagnostic fee of $175 and did the job right (compared to $300 that Green Bear charged)

DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY UNTIL YOUR JOB IS FINISHED *AND* CORRECTLY INSTALLED…read more I deeply regret hiring this fly-by-night operation. Monroe's management/customer relations team has been nothing but disorganized, unresponsive, and full of excuses when it comes to resolving their own procurement and operations problems. Essentially, we've been trying to get them to finish the job that we paid them for in January--almost 4 months ago!! We hired Monroe to replace a wood-burning fireplace with a gas fireplace, including demo, installing new slate tile trim and hearth and a new mantel. The main work was done in January, and I have nothing but good to say about the subs who actually did this work. They were efficient, professional, worked fine around our pets, and we're happy with the new fireplace. HOWEVER, the mantel that we ordered from Monroe was not right, not even close to expected, so we told the subs not to install it. Monroe agreed to order a replacement, and they demanded that we pay the rest of the invoice in good faith. In the months since, we've contacted Monroe countless times via email and phone, and each time, we have to reintroduce ourselves and re-explain the problem. Each time, Monroe tells us that the mantel is on its way, or it's backordered, or it's in the facility but they haven't scheduled the install yet, or whatever. Damon is always busy/out of the office/will call us back, despite countless messages left on his line. Monroe Fireplace is still blowing us off as I write this.

The week prior to our appointment we received two emails reminding us of our tech arriving between 8am and 10am. At 9:55 the morning of our appointment no one had arrived or called us. We called their office to see why. No answer. I left a message and headed to bed, (I work nights and needed to sleep). 10 minutes later I got a call from All City stating that the tech had arrived but wasn't able to access our neighborhood due to our security gate. The lady on the phone told me that I didn't include a proper phone number when setting up my appointment. The control box at our entry gate lists all homeowners and a way to contact us. The tech never called me. There is also an unlocked walk through gate the tech could use to access our neighborhood and walk 150 yards to my front door. The tech never thought or tried this simple idea. The lady who called me seemed more interested in pointing out how I was responsible for their tech not being able to get to our home than apologizing for the fact their tech hadn't arrived. She made no effort to find a way to get our fireplace serviced. Do yourself a favor and not use All City Fireplace. They are not focused on taking care of customers.

Hissing, popping, loud pilot, odd flame pattern, constant soot buildup. Enter Louis and David the techs for the Fireplace Shop, and I was told my sand, embers and flame pan weren't set up correctly. They reconfigured my entire set and it is amazing. I finally have dancing flames and heat, with no strange sounds. I'm so grateful to Deanna and her team at the shop. A true old school family business. I will use them going forward!!

I was a little bit concerned with the negative reviews I read here but I still reached out to…read moreBellevue Fireplace Shop to get a quote for the purchase and installation of a wood fireplace insert in my existing masonry fireplace. The entire process was very easy and smooth. I set up the appointment and they showed up on time. I think the technical who visited me to do the measurement was Jim. He was very meticulous and did a great job in getting all necessary measurements. After the measurement was done I talked to Aaron, I think, on the phone to pick a wood fireplace insert. He walked me thru a few different models. I had a particular one in mind because I received the quote for that model from other places thus I wanted to do an apple to apple comparison. But Aaron told me some details that no one else did. It was about the regulation in the hearth in front of the fireplace. I looked up online and found what Aaron said to be correct. Though this probably won't be an issue but in case there is a fire I'm sure my insurance company likely will not miss this one. When they arrived to do the installation they made sure put a sheet all the way from my door to the fireplace to protect my floor. They also wore a face mask due to COVID-19. Because the fireplace insert was just shy of fitting my masonry fireplace perfectly which left a small gap on both sides, less than 1 inch, they had to come back again to install a metal backplate. Overall I think they did a great job and was professional and easy to work with.
