This is how the guy left my wood stove. Thanks, what a service for $29.
William L.

I called Genesis and they quoted me $149 for a chimney sweep. After they failed to show up in the 9AM-11AM window, I called them to see if they needed to cancel, and was told a tech would call me. An hour later, a guy quietly knocks on my front door. He asks me what I'd like done, and I say that I'm just looking to have the chimney swept. Guy: It's not a chimney. Me: Oh, sorry, flue. Guy: Nah, that's a pipe because it's connected to a wood stove. Me: Uh... Sure, as long as you can clean it. What follows is about five minutes of him jimmying the stovepipe/flue while trying to upsell me on a $650 "deep clean", before eventually getting a section off. When he does this, it's at a bend where some creosote has built up, and it dumps onto the wood stove. He says he can't do an inspection, can't do a basic cleaning, and can only do the $650 deep clean. I explain that I'm not prepared to spend four times what I was expecting, and he asks if I can do "$500 flat". That's still way more than I was expecting and I say no, so he puts the flue back together and asks me to Venmo him $29 for coming out to do the quote. Later that day, I call Genesis back to check the numbers and see if they were in the right ballpark. They refused to say any prices or price ranges whatsoever and said I'd have to talk to a specialist. I say I'm fine with that but it needs to not be the last guy (and give his name). Specialist calls me back a few minutes later - guess who it is? Same guy! He asks why I'm calling again and I explain that I was surprised by the prices he quoted and was trying to check them with the company. Guy: "Are you calling me a liar?" Me: "I don't know you, dude, I was just surprised and wanted to double-check the numbers." Guy: "ARE YOU CALLING ME A LIAR?" Me: "No - " Guy: "YOU GO DO YOUR RESEARCH AND SEE HOW MUCH IT COSTS" *CLICK* I called one more time to let their "dispatch" know about our last interaction, but I doubt random call center worker is going to do anything about it. Edit: Ben from Genesis called after this review to try and work something out and asked if I would delete the review. I declined as I'd already schedule service from another company. He also said that their maximum price on a deep clean is $450, so the guy who came out was apparently trying to skim $200 off the top. And for what it's worth, I called Fire Safe right afterwards. They quoted me $169 and I double-checked that there were no extra markups or anything like that for having the audacity to want the *whole* chimney swept. Edit 2: The guy from Fire Safe sent me this message after he did his sweep and inspection: "You can quote me on this, the sweep you had come in to do the cleaning was incompetent or trying to rip you off, there is no such thing as a "deep clean(ing)" in chimney sweeping, it is either a sweep or a roto-cleaning. If a chimney sweep ever says anything about a "deep cleaning" tell them you're not interested in their services, send them away, and call another chimney sweep. - Roger Austin with Fire Safe Chimney Sweep & Repair" Genesis has continued to reach out to me and ask me to delete this review. They claim that they're taking steps to make sure that this doesn't happen in the future, but it doesn't change the basic fact that they don't appear to have their own people to do work and just subcontract out to others. I would encourage others to find a company dedicated to fireplace and chimney cleaning and inspections.

I reached out to Genesis Home Services to get a quote and Dave was extremely responsive and replied right away. The price was $229 per chimney for the first 9 ft and $10 for every ft after that. I did not get a quote from other companies because the few I contacted were either slow or booked all the way to November. I made the appointment with Dave and he sent a reminder using Yelp right away. On the day of my appointment I met David from Genesis. He wore a mask and was very attentive to make sure I see what the current condition of my chimney was. He then went up to the roof to check the chimney cover. After that he spent about 1 hour cleaning the chimney and showed me how dirty my chimney was. In the end I think I had a great experience with Genesis and will definitely use them again for my next chimney cleaning.

Benjamin!

Benjamin was outstanding! He alerted me when he was on the way, he was prompt, friendly, explained what he would be doing to maintain and clean our gas fireplace. He was professional, cleaned up and showed me how to start the pilot light if needed. He is a great asset to Genesis! I highly recommend Benjamin and so pleased with his service. Outstanding! Ask for him!

David from Genesis Home Services did an excellent job doing a clean up and tune up of our very old gas fireplace. He spent the time explaining how to best maintain and operate the fireplace as well as showing me the potential future issues that might happen with such an old fireplace. He then did an excellent job cleaning all components and checking for all safety issues. I must say the fireplace looks amazing now and working very well. Overall, I found the appointment setup and all the communication to be very prompt and professional by Genesis Home Services. I will definitely recommend and use them again.

I requested a chimney inspection and Ben arrived at the schedule time and helped with an examination on our wood burning fireplace. He identified the issue being lack of deep cleaning at the beginning, and scheduled a deep cleaning in two days. Ben brought all the needed equipment over on the scheduled deep cleaning day, and did a great work to clean up our main chimney, which has not been cleaned for many years. He thoroughly cleaned it up and tested the fireplace. Then it was found that the extra smoke was coming from using a wrong chimney cap. Ben and technician visited us again after the rain stopped, and replaced our chimney cap with the proper one. Now we can finally use our fireplace! Thanks for the hard work and help with trouble shooting and solving our issue.

However, the final price I paid was higher than what I was told over the phone, and I was also promised a discount that I did not receive. I also wish there had been clearer information about what exactly is included in the service. Although the website lists the included tasks, the differences in pricing and service levels were not clearly explained. I hope the company will improve transparency around pricing, provide clearer communication, and that customer service will keep its promises in the future. Next time I will pay closer attention to the details.

I prefer companies being proactive. Their verbal quote in person felt like bait-and-switch, as it was not anywhere near the online quote. I had turned down other options as I liked the online bid. I explained this to the techs, and they were able to "negotiate" a better price (slightly higher than my online bid) so it was not exactly what I expected. What I liked is the job was complete on the day I requested. The techs tried upselling me in person, didn't give me anything in writing, and kind of hesitated when I'd explained I wanted them to either take off their shoes or wear booties, as the floor was recently cleaned. Again, they did the job on the day I'd requested and came highly reviewed, but I still have not received a written receipt (it's been nearly a week) and I don't care for the upselling when everything on the price menu is online. As they were able to finish one home I hired them to do another, based on time. Would I hire again, I'd give them a 3/5 stars, so not necessarily. It was 100% based on scheduling on why they got my business and they sold me on the instant reply and online menu, but I wasn't impressed with the mess (had to vacuum after they came) and the upselling and their hesitation of booties. I also prefer precision (screwing in all vents) over rushing for a completion. I had to run around and ask them to put the vent covers back on. They asked me to write a check to a "new company" and that seemed sketchy/uncomfortable too as I thought I'd hired Evergreen Air...

My dryer was old (23.5 years) so first I got a new dryer. However, when that didn't help I tried to clean the dryer vent myself. I discovered that my dryer vent exits on the roof of my house - so I realized I needed to hire someone. As I researched companies, I discovered there is a vast range of pricing and expertise available. The cheaper companies (~$150) won't go on the roof and often only clean the vent from one side. Although Seattle Dryer Vent is not the cheapest, they are knowledgable about what they do and they do a thorough job. The technician arrived on time, was pleasant, and seemed to immediately know what the problem would be when I explained the problem I was having with drying my clothes. It turns out the the builders (my home was built in 2002) hadn't removed a mesh screen from the vent on the roof which was preventing my vents from fulling expelling the dryer lint out the end of the vent. The technician removed the screen as part of the service. Thanks to Seattle Dryer Vent Cleaning company, my clothes now dry in a reasonable amount of time. They were professional, knowledgable, and friendly and I would recommend them to others.

I booked AirGanic's services for duct cleaning, furnace cleaning, AC cleaning, and dryer vent…read morecleaning. They came on 3/6 in the provided time window, and did a good job of cleaning from what I can tell. On their website, they mention they provide a before and after report of the duct cleaning, though the only report I've received so far is the indoor air quality one. It would be nice to see the before and after, but that's not my biggest concern with their service. Unfortunately after they completed the service and left, I noticed floor new vibrations on the floor that is right below the furnace (which weren't there before the service). At the time since this was still during the day, I figured it might be from some construction work outside and ignored it. The vibrations continued into the night at which point I was getting concerned. I call them on Monday 3/9 and the earliest they can send someone to check it out is Friday 3/16 -- not ideal, but appreciated nonetheless. It's the same tech who did notice the vibrations on the furnace with the blower compartment open and fan running. Unfortunately he doesn't have an idea on what could be causing the vibrations from a cleaning. I suspect the vibrations to be from the blower going out of balance (perhaps from something settling on the blower during the duct cleaning). He goes to call his boss and returns saying the boss isn't also sure of what could be causing the vibrations, that the blower could be cleaned but AirGanic doesn't do it and that the boss would reach out to me with details of a company that cleans furnace blower. It's been three full business days and I've yet to recieve a call from the boss. I removed, cleaned, and put back the furance blower myself in the mean time which did resolve the vibrations -- it looked like there was stuck on paper on the blower fins. No idea where that came from. I'm not particularly happy with how my situation was handled -- if I am told someone will reach out to me, I expect to be reached out in a reasonable time. If I'm hiring a professional for a service and something unexpected happens, I expect help from the professional -- that's why you hire a professional. I was left without help and had to guess and fix the problem myself. Everyone makes mistakes, that's not what I have a problem with, I'm only interested in how well the mistake is remedied. I imagine this was something that doesn't happen frequently. In all probability, you'll hire AirGanic for cleaning, everything will go great -- I certainly don't contest that the cleaning itself was poor or unsatisfactory -- but if something unexpected happens, you might not get the help you are expecting.

We called AirGanics this morning because of no heat coming from our furnace, which we had installed when we moved in our house June 2021. We tried most of the morning, both email and phone to contact them. We couldn't wait any longer and reached out to another company to fix our furnace. We did a call back but was told they do not service "non AirGanics" installed equipment. I explained we did have AirGanics install our our whole unit when we moved in, but was told they had no record of us installing, just a consultation. So I forwarded the invoice we had paid to have the unit installed. I received an email back simply stating, "Checking our records now for that invoice. I did find that. Pro's - Basic work seemed to be done well and at a price that was competitive with others I contacted at least for the basic service. - Communication was prompt. - After some re-scheduling on their part, the team did the work swiftly and efficiently. - Most of the terms were clear in advance, using Yelp Projects. Con's - This is a fairly shiesty corner of the home maintenance world. Many providers seem to give you a low-ball estimate to get in the door and then upsell significantly. - Envirosmart is not an exception. - The initial quote was $200. This included scoping the ducts and doing the negative pressure clean-out. - Onsite, they then upsold me to $670 for a more thorough brushing of the vents, sanitation, and some other ancillary services. - They were only modestly well-organized. They called the day-of to reschedule because of a conflict with internal training. They also confirmed a different time than I had originally scheduled. It was the difference of a 9 to 11am original window and a 2:30-3pm arrival. - The Yelp Project communication could have been clearer. They did not specify whether they were calling to quote me or coming to do the service! Amid all this and with some clarification and flexibility on our part, we worked it out. I would have appreciated either a discount or additional service for the delay. None was proffered. I did not go ahead with the upsell as I had already gotten quotes for less from other providers with somewhat more transparent pricing. I think the work they did appeared fine. See attached pics. Your guess is as good as mine which are before and which are after! They did not specify when they sent them to me and email took off the timestamp. I'm hoping the cleaner ones. I probably will try another service when I do this again and with a higher rated provider. All in all, though, I had low expectations and those low expectations were met.
