My fireplace wouldn't turn on and I didn't know how long it hadn't worked since I haven't used it in years. RCS Fireplace was the 2nd company to respond to my message. The first company offered a free estimate and told me I needed to replace a couple of components at a cost of $1800. RCS ended up costing me $303. RCS didn't offer a free estimate, but offered a fireplace service/cleaning for $275 that included an hour of labor with additional hours at $199/hour. In case the first company was correct and I needed to replace parts, I asked how much those parts would cost and they quoted me parts prices that were half what the other company quoted. So, even if the 1st company was correct about the problem, it would cost me less to hire RCS for the repair. Within 10 minutes of arrival, RCS had my fireplace working again without replacing any parts. They then proceeded to service my fireplace with the remainder of the hour time for the service call. RCS saved me a lot of money. In addition, the technician was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant, and explained to me a lot about my fireplace. The woman I emailed at RCS was also very knowledgeable and provided all the information I needed to make my decision. I have been a regular customer of RCS for about the last 7-10 years and have previously been very satisified by their service. Up until my most recent visit which occurred in December, I have found them to be reliable, fairly priced and service-oriented. I tend to be a very loyal customer when working with service providers, so it was a no-brainer for me to schedule a service visit with RCS when our fireplace began acting up and couldn't stay lit. Our most recent service visit prior to December was in July 2023 and typically for us, a fireplace tune-up and cleaning does the trick, and we are good to go for at least the following year. Due to the season, it took about 3 weeks to get on the schedule, which was fine and understandable. I was not available at the time of the visit. However, according to my wife, the technician arrived on time, was polite, and stayed for about an hour. Upon returning home, especially since it was cold outside, I was excited to begin using the fireplace. I switched it on and it stayed on for about 10 seconds before the fireplace and pilot went out. I tried relighting it several more times (including restarting the pilot light each time) and basically had the same result. In other words, there was absolutely NO difference in performance from before my service visit and after it. The fireplace looked cleaner (as it always does after clean up a tune-up), but the most important part of the service, getting the fireplace up and running was NOT accomplished. I immediately informed Lynnea of the issue by text and over a call and was hoping for a quick resolution, including a return visit by the tech. I got a quick answer, but a disappointing proposed resolution. She said a return visit could be scheduled, but there would be an additional charge of $180, which was a "discounted" rate along with parts if needed. I am fine with the parts, but I did balk at the proposed service charge, as I did not consider the initial visit to have been completed satisfactorily. While the technician may have done a cursory check at the end of the visit, the fireplace only stayed lit for 10 seconds the very first time I tried it, which tells me that he didn't really check it. If I was a brand new customer, I might know any better, but I'm not. This is very disappointing and I'm clearly still not happy even though this occurred several months ago. Every time the temperature drops and I want to use the fireplace, I am reminded of my disappointment with RCS. I expect a company to stand by their work and for their service technicians to be thorough. Neither occurred during the last visit. read more

My address is in Seattle and I hesitated hiring RCS because it seemed far from their office, so I went for a Seattle based and seemed cheaper providers on Yelp that charged me $99 service call. After the $99 service call company came out, their diagnosis said, the issue with my fireplace was the valve and I needed a new valve and it will be $980. I decided to get a second opinion with RCS and I am glad I did. They came out the same day and their diagnosis showed it was the pilot assembly and they fixed my fireplace for less than the $99 service call company. I am glad I did. Also, my experience dealing with them was very personable and it didn't feel like I was dealing with a large company that often has very few people with expertise. This concern rocks! Since we were on the other margins of their service area we attempted to have 23-year-old vent less fire place serviced by a concern closer to Seattle. However, after waiting 2 weeks for the initial visit and another 2 weeks for a rather high quote on work we had already self-diagnosed, we reached out to RCS and got a response and a visit within 1 week, together with a quote less than one third the other concern. The new parts did not align with the beat-up parts installed by the home's original fireplace subcontractor so the RCS technician had to schedule another visit with a week with another replacement part. Follow up visit took less than an hour, and the as good as new again after six weeks (after waiting a month for the other concern.) The technician arrived within the appointed timelines and was extremely professional throughout. You cannot go wrong with this group. read more

A trusted neighbor recommended RCS Fireplace to me after she had a wonderful experience with them. Our 14 year old Napoleon HD 40 gas fireplace was no longer working. I spoke to "Rusty" on the phone who offered to help me on the phone with some basic troubleshooting. While I appreciated that offer I opted to schedule a service call and have them take a look at it. They had an opening in their schedule, less than 24 hours later "Jeffrey" (RCS Fireplace's technician) was here. Jeffery was friendly, polite, thoroughly professional and efficient. After gaining access to the unit he was able to diagnose a failed temperature sensor. He was able to replace the failed part. In addition to being efficient Jeffery was kind enough to answer the few questions I had as he went about this task. Jeffery was meticulous in his work and left the room and fireplace much cleaner than he found it. The price I paid for the professional service was fair, more than just "fair" it was a great value. We are very happy with the gas fireplace repair done by RCS about 2 years ago. The fireplace would turn on but not stay on. After researching online I decided it was not something I wanted to try to diagnose myself, so I called these guys. I made the appointment over the phone and they explained that the fee they charged to come to my house included the first 45 minutes to diagnose and fix the problem but if it took longer than that, it would be an added cost. The tech arrived on time and was professional. The part that impressed me the most is after he diagnosed and fixed the problem within the first 5 minutes, he did not pack up and leave yet. He spent the remaining 40 minutes thoroughly cleaning the inside of the fireplace. After that service, the fireplace is still working great even with the heavy use throughout the fall, winter, and spring. I am definitely calling RCS next time I need a gas fireplace service. read more

I have a rental home that has a free standing gas fireplace in the great room. It is a nearly 30 year old unit but it is in excellent condition, however it failed and my renter needed the heat source. I phoned another vendor and they arrived, late, but arrived. That vendor, and let me be clear, this was not RCS, arrived and spent the half hour they were there speaking to a coworker to figure out what was going on with the unit. Their response was that the unit was not repairable and needed to be replaced. And that half hour cost us $600.00. So fast forward to RCS-I walked into their showroom fully expecting to and looking for a new stove. The first thing that I was asked is "is that the route you want to go?" I was thinking possibly different fuel types or something else, I asked what route he suggested. He asked if I wanted to try and fix the stove, which is the direction that I initially wanted to take. He explained the rates and told me that he felt that the unit could be repaired. I sent him pictures and we had an appointment with one of the technicians. The technician arrived on the proper date and on time and diagnosed the issue which required parts be ordered. The technician explained everything including costs, and let us know that he would let us know when the parts arrived. The parts came in and we were scheduled for another visit, and again on time. There was another part required and once that was in hand, yet another visit. Again, on time. After the third visit all was again working as we had hoped. Throughout the process, we were communicated with and were told up front what all charges would be. I appreciated RCS repairing rather than selling me a new unit. We are very pleased w the device we received from RCS. I had called another fireplace service & they NEVER returned my call. RCS responded promptly; sent out a friendly competent tech to determine if our insert worked. He cleaned it, left me a can of stove paint & told me how to touch it up. I then called the shop requesting to buy a remote. Even though they were busy they said that if we had an open window of times when they could come they would fit us in. 2 days later a worker showed up & installed the remote. Later, the gas was turned off & when I called, the person walked me thru how to relight the pilot & had me test the remote. He totally remembered our insert & how it was configured. I was looking for a company or person to service our gas fireplace. The first company I called wasn't able to service our fireplace, because we lived outside of their area of service and recommended RCS Fireplace. I was hesitant to call at first but the first company said RCS does good work at a comparable rate. So I took the chance. When I made my appointment, Rita answered the phone and was very helpful and friendly. The day of the appointment Rusty (the owner) showed up at my door right on time. I was told he would show up between 12:30-1:30 and he showed up right at 12:30, so far so good. I'm so used to hearing the scheduler say the technician will be at your home between 1pm and 3pm, to only have the technician show up at 3pm. So Rusty showing up at the top of the scheduled time was a nice change. I explained the problem to Rusty. My fireplace had a problem staying lit or it wouldn't turn on at all. The pilot light was on, but when I flicked the switch to light the fire, nothing would happen OR the fire place would turn off by itself when lit. The toughest thing too, this was an intermittent problem. Long story short, Rusty was able to figure out what the problem was, serviced and cleaned the whole unit. Plus he also explained what the problem was and how he figured it out. I gotta say I'm keeping Rusty in mind for any future service or fireplace needs. He's a really nice person, down to earth, honest and has great service. Paying for his services is worth the money. You can't ask for much more. read more

Wish I could write a review about our wood-to-gas log fireplace conversion project but we were never able to actually get anyone from RCS to come and take a look at the job. After several emails and phone calls with the company over the past 2 weeks, sending photos and measurements of the job, even stopping by their office...still no action. We know Covid has messed up normal business and trades are busy, but we are moving on with another company. I am glad we never started the project with RCS because I have the feeling it would have been nothing but frustration if this is how they do (or do not do) business. Dirty shoes all on my clean carpet, then goes to my wood burning fireplace and asked how to turn it on!!! Really!! Finally show him the gas one, and he did something...went to leave and said we had to do paperwork now it's all fixed, I asked him to turn it on and then he states it was started and then blew off...LOL sorry guys wasn't even with any time coming out...will never be calling for anything again...lousy experience for something usually every year is simple. I had a small gas leak from my floor shutoff valve. Called in a big fireplace servicer and the person immediately said that the valve needs to be replaced which would require major work since it involves dismantling the piping in the floor and wall. The technician called his HQ, too a look at the valve setup by making a small hole in the ceiling and after review with his HQ told us that this work will be too complicated for them and even recommended some custom fireplace installers and services. So they were not trying to fleece me, they just had a lack of experience with the problem. I called multiple companies for second opinions and to provide an estimate. Most of them replied that its major work through the phone or that they will need to estimate the work or that they were too busy. Then I called RCS. I explained the problem and the person on the phone (Rusty?) said that there if I had a minute, he could explain how to fix the problem. He explained that there is a hex nut on the valve that just needs to be snugged up a bit with a deep socket wrench. He even told me that I need a deep 5/8 socket. I tried it out and it fixed the leak immediately. From major work to a minute's fix, thanks to their experience and honesty. Very highly recommended ! read more

I called them because HomeAdvisor recommended them. Rusty came out twice, said the problem was venting and I needed to buy a new stove. This one has worked for the last 10yrs &will work the next 20 with proper service. He installed a bad part & made the situation worse! Paid him $175 and the next guy only $150 to change out the bad part Rusty installed and actually fix the original problem. HomeAdvisor said they would post my honest review and never did. They are only a marketing agency for paying business subscribers. None of the positive reviews posted are actually consumer reviews. If you're in the market for a new stove, call RCS. Have been a customer for five years and have been very happy with the service and staff. UNTIL now. Called in August and scheduled an appointment for last week. They called a few days before and asked to move the appointment up a day. They did not show up or call. Called several times and could only get an answering machine. No call backs from them. Next day finally reached the owner who said the couldn't come that day either but that he would call back by the end of the day. No call. I had them come out to repair my gas fireplace that was not lighting. They fixed it but after they left I noticed the gas is now turned up too high which caused the glass to blacken and now you can't see into the fireplace. So I scheduled another appointment for them to come back out and they have proceeded to miss the next two scheduled appointments without even a single phone call. The last appointment they missed, it was apparent that they forgot about the appointment all together. Now I am left with a partial fix and I have to pay another company to fix the problem.
