Amazing service by Morgan. My fireplace is 26 years old, and I've used it a lot over the years. About seven years ago it started having a soot problem. I've had six fireplace service people work on it during that time, none of them fixed the problem. Furthermore, some didn't even put the ceramic logs back in the correct position. Most spent less than an hour working on it, but Morgan spent two solid hours. With the other service people, I could the soot starting to build within a couple days. Thank goodness I found Morgan. He is highly recommended by ChatGPT - especially for repairs, and he's not going to try and sell you a new fireplace. I can't say enough good things about Morgan. He was here on time. He had more equipment with him than the seven other repair people put together. He was very thorough in his work, it was obvious he knew what he was doing. Not only is he a hard worker, but very personable as well. I loved that he could tell me the problems he found while he continuing to work. No BS from Morgan. Actually, I don't really care what Morgan did or did not say to PSE to get them to come out and do his work for him. I bring it up because: 1. It speaks to his total lack of care or concern for me and for not completing the job that he was, (in his words) "paid a lot of money" to do. He did not call me and apologize for whatever reason he might have had for not showing up to fix the problem when I called him the second time about still smelling gas. He merely foisted HIS responsibility upon PSE and then sent me a very rude text message. 2. It also points to his abject inability to tell the truth about what really happened. He left a written Job Invoice with these details and this said he would contact me when he knew he would receive the needed part. After this, I never heard another word from him. I met Morgan yesterday for the first time - in that our 10-year old gas fireplace needed a repair in order to operate properly. Morgan couldn't have been nicer or more professional. His knowledge and skills were first rate, particularly when it came to the brand of fireplace that we have. Not only did he complete the work necessary for the fireplace to work properly, he thoroughly cleaned and vacuumed the entire fireplace unit. It now looks brand new. Can't remember how I found Pacific Fireplace Service, but I'm glad I did. Morgan is the owner of this one-man operation and does meticulous work with the utmost care. When working on my fireplace insert, shoes were removed, floor coverings utilized in the work area, and surroundings protected from dirt or damage. I was shocked recently to find gas fireplaces need to be serviced!! I proceeded to search online for a well-reviewed nearby company to service mine and found Pacific Fireplace Service. I called for an appt a few days before Christmas. Morgan was apologetic that he couldn't get me in before Christmas, which I'd not expected. The day of my appointment, Morgan called me confirm I was home, expecting him and to let me know he was running a little late, which I appreciated. I was impressed w/his knowledge of my 36 year old original gas fireplace. He even knew the brand name of the facing box used at that time, that it was originally for a wood burning fireplace and had been converted to gas. He showed me how he knew wood had never been burned in this fireplace. My unit was working, but I could only light it by holding the flame RIGHT over a gas vent. If that didn't work, I had to turn the gas off for awhile before trying again to avoid the mushroom flame effect when it finally did light (the one that shocks the juice right outta ya and you have to check your eyebrows and pants after words? We've all been there, right?). Also, my logs and fireplace walls had a LOT of soot. Apparently natural gas doesn't produce soot, but the issues my unit had before Morgan got ahold of it DID produce soot, which can cause carcinogens and carbon monoxide to be released, and soot up the home. After Morgan toiled on the system for over an hour, the change is stunning. I think Morgan secretly replaced my entire box and system and didn't tell me or charge me for it. It's THAT much improved, easy to light, much better functioning and more beautiful to look at as well. Soot is all cleaned off. Apparently, there wasn't enough sand in the base, which someone had attempted to make up for by adding too much of the 'burning wool,' which stifled the flow and flame. Also, it had too many logs (which also stifled the flame/flow), and the main log was upside down and lying on the gas vents..... When Morgan had completed his work, this was all remedied. He told me my system was in good condition, despite being so old. Morgan could have told me the whole thing needed to be replaced and I'd have not known the difference. It's truly a night a day difference. AND Morgan was a delight to have in my home, even adoring my yapping Pekingese while he worked. I wished there were more businesses who were honest, forthright and easy to work with. If you need your gas fireplace serviced, do yourself a favor and contact Morgan.
