Five Star Company and I do not write reviews unless they are well deserved. Although this is a lengthly review, if you are on the fence of going solar or not...this review is for you! During the boom of solar and numerous companies trying to get your business, I decided to sit back and watch everyone else try it for me. Well, I couldn't wait another year paying super high electric bills month after month. So I decided to really take a look at various companies out there to buy, not lease a great quality solar system. All of my research included price, equipment with 25 year warranty, installation, monitoring abilities and customer service. I found most companies claimed they had the best price, but when I started to compare the quotes they were super high. When I found three companies that were reasonable in pricing I decided to go and see how they were installed. What I found was most companies had large bulky solar panels that were really visible on the roof. I also found that most companies did not take the time to paint the conduit coming out of the electrical box on the side of the residence. This was not a look that I was interested in because the silver conduit running up the side of the residence and on the roof stuck out like a sore thumb. It appeared that the companies were focused more on a quick install rather than the details of how it was installed. I needed a company that would install a solar system as if they were installing it at their own home. So even though I wanted to go solar ASAP, I just could not find a company that fulfilled my expectations. Then...I met Josh Young with Genesis California. The first day of the install they took the time to carefully install all the brackets for the panels. They informed me that several of my concrete roof tiles were already broken, but the new brackets allowed them to replace all the broken ones. This was a bonus in my book and shows the attention to detail. The second day they installed all of the solar panels, conduit and ran electrical lines. The conduit was bright silver, but they took the time to make clean lines along the roof line and side of my home. They painted all of the conduit and the electrical box with the same color paint of my home. More of the attention to detail I was looking for in a solid solar company. Best of all, the panels were super slim and flush with the roof line. I could not see them from the ground so they were almost invisible. After the install, the installers ran me through how to setup my remote access to monitor my solar system via my phone or internet. Within a short few days after the install all the city permits and hassle of dealing with SDG&E was handled by Genesis California. I will be writing an updated review after the first year of using my new solar system. However, I have no reservations or complaints with deciding to go with Genesis California. If you want a quality solar company that has strong values and is not just another basic solar cookie cutter company, then choose Genesis California and stop paying so much for electricity. Three pieces of advice: 1) Use Genesis to install and service your solar panels 2) Purchase your system - don't lease it, as you lose most of the benefits. 3) Finance the system, using the state and federal programs to help you pay for it. The friendly guys @ GENESIS did their homework beforehand, so the knew exactly what we needed, and what our roof was like. They were extremely knowledgeable, professional, helpful, and not pushy at all. They gave us our options in solar panel types, as well as manufacturers. They used to be a roofing and remodel company, so they have every type of craftsman already in the company... roofers, electricians, carpenters, etc. They also gave us over a dozen options to purchase the solar panels, without having to pay for them today. We used Genesis Energy Solutions (Genesis CA) to install our system here in Escondido the beginning of 2016. They did an impeccable job start to finish. They installed 24 panels in two days and had us up and running with SDG&E within a week after that. Don't think they did a sloppy job because of that short time span either! Jesse (owner) runs a tight ship and their attention to detail is second to none. Before choosing a company I did a ton of research and spoke with a lot of other people I know who have installed solar before choosing a company. We chose Genesis for several reasons: local company, top quality products with better warranties, better financing, and we felt like we had a personal relationship with the company versus becoming a number to some bigger company. Josh Young took care of us all throughout the process even after signing the contract (not just a sales guy who passes you off to someone else after you are done). I ran him through the ringer with questions about a ton of stuff (micro-inverters vs single inverters with optimizers, questions about durability of panels (we live on a golf course), installation, racking, conduit, etc, etc) and he answered all of it with a smile. He also checked in along the way to make sure we were happy and answer any questions we had. I can watch our system from my phone to see how it is running real time which is great. The system is also monitored remotely so if anything fails they will know and can come fix it ASAP so you don't lose production. They also use micro-inverters (better product) so you don't have to worry about shading from trees or other houses affecting your production and also don't have huge inverters to take up space on your garage wall or on the outside of your house (all things I researched). They communicated with me every step of the way, took care of all necessary paperwork, and made sure we were happy with the final product. Jesse (owner) even came out to the inspection with the city building department to make sure it happened (after the city canceled on us twice). Where else can you get the owner of a company to get out of the office and meet you at your house?? I could go on and on with how happy we are with this installation and overall experience in this great investment for our house. I had my system installed at the beginning of the year and it's been working great ever since. I purposely wanted to over generate to compensate for future use and as of now sdge owes me over $800 since I've given them my excess of energy. All that even after running the AC all summer long, never shutting it off. Prior to the install my electric bill average was $290. After the install my payment is $228, for 12yrs with a 1.99% interest rate. After 12 yrs it's clear and free and my bill will be $0. There's no question that solar is a better alternative for you and your best bet will be using Genesis. From my very first contact to the final SDG&E inspection, absolutely every aspect of my work with them has been at the highest level of professionalism and competency. As a senior citizen, I have dealt with dozens of companies through the years. Genesis ranks at the top for easy customer relationships, thoroughness of explanations and ease of communication. The teamwork during the installation phase was a model of efficiency. These guys are the real deal. I sought six estimates. Not only was Genesis the best value in terms of kW/$, but also they are installing slightly larger 360 kW Solaris panels at less cost than others wanted to use off-brand 320 kW panels. At initial site inspection Jesse was informative and professional, but friendly (and masked). Provided a detailed breakdown of costs for various options we were considering. From foundation, shed construction, electrical connections, interior finish and cleanup, everything was done to perfection. All the crew were friendly and a pleasure to talk to, as well as being professional and good at their work. Mike even provided a plant from his own yard when my wife expressed interest in succulents! There was a small delay due to a subcontractor drywall issue but I refuse to reduce a star because larger construction projects rarely go without a hitch somewhere and it was resolved quickly. Really glad we went with Jesse and crew at Genesis Solar for solar panel installation. From the very beginning he worked hard at earning our business! He answered many many questions, came over to meet with us and gave us a really competitive price. He was honest about what we needed in terms of our old electrical box and listened to us and made suggestions about how our panels could look polished since they are being placed on the front of the house. They even took extra steps to run the wiring/piping through the attic instead of on the roof. Genesis installed our panels on schedule and handled most of the loan paperwork and all of the dealings with SDGE and the finance company. Update: it has been one year with our system. Everything has been flawless. The system put preformed our expectations. Our total bill this year was -$62.00. About half way through the year we changed internet service providers and I knocked my net monitoring offline. Genesis called me immediately and said they noticed the system went offline and asked if everything was okay. I told them I was plugging the system back in and would call if I needed help. They offered to send a tech out to help. I just plugged it in myself and was back up in no time. Again, the owner, Jesse called me back to say everything was back online. Loved working with these guys. They were very quick, knowledgeable, and polite. I home school and am home with my kids all day. They were very sweet to my kids who asked endless questions and even asked when nap time was so they could coordinate their lunch one day. My oldest liked them so much she asked if we could bake them cookies! Jessie did a great job estimating our needs. We've had our system for a few months and even when it gets hot and we have to run the A.C. (especially with my newborn to worry about) we have always made enough energy to cover our use.
