Drew does a great job. He builds design into his process for those that don't want to use an outside designer. The quality of his team and his work is exceptional and we ended up with a fantastic new master bathroom. His designs tend toward contemporary and coastal which fits the vibe of Carlsbad and the surrounding area. He is attentive and at the job consistently which was important to us after having previous contractors who didn't always show up, or, sent their team and didn't come to oversee the work. Our job involved moving our shower, changing out windows and re-doing the bathroom from the ground up. We went from a dated, non functional bathroom to a modern, beautiful and highly functional bathroom that is now a feature of our house and is enjoyable to use. I highly recommend Drew and his team. read more

love this company, great quality work done in a timely manner for a decent cost. Wil would recommend them to anyone

Drew and the Coastal Design's team did a fantastic job on our master bath! When we bought this house the master bath had no shower and floor panels as wall decor. We met with a few contractors and were told repeatedly that we could not achieve the bathroom designs we desired because the space was too small/etc. Feeling discouraged, we set a meeting with Coastal Designs and were blown away by Drew's knowledge and willingness to make our dream bathroom a reality. Drew designed the exact bathroom we wanted without compromise. We were on vacation for most of the time the team was here, but when we got home the house was clean and all the workers were very kind! We had a small delay with our glass due to Covid, but it was no big deal! Drew and team were very professional and did everything they could to make sure we were 100% satisfied. Highly recommend Coastal Designs!! Thanks again!! read more

We selected Drew Efimoff (Coastal Designs) for our kitchen and den remodel. Overall, we could not be happier with the results. My wife and I are both accountants by trade, and what we liked most about Drew was as follows: 1. Adherence to Schedule - when it comes to kitchens and baths, Drew is dialed-in. He knows exactly how long everything takes, the ideal order of operations for his subcontractors, and has them making progress everyday. Our friends were impressed by how quickly and efficiently our project came together. They made comments like "we used our friend to do a remodel and it took months!" There was nothing like that with Drew. 2. Detailed Itemized Budget - Drew put together a 3 page budget in our work proposal. There was no question what was in scope vs out of scope. It made review and discussion very straightforward and simple. 3. Design Consultation - we are not creative people by any means, and Drew was very helpful here. He helped generate ideas, knew all the best practices from his many other remodels, and was able to guide and advise on our material choices to let us know if we were making a mistake. He was able to see the complete picture and know how everything would look when it was all together. In addition to these points, Drew was responsive, neat, and always attentive to detail. It's really hard for me to overstate that this guy knows what he's doing. Kitchen remodels are a big deal, a big expense. When you hire Drew you are hiring an absolute PRO, and you can rest assured your money will be well spent. read more

Simply put - Drew is the best of the best. We have worked with several other contractors over the years and Drew is truly in a class of his own. We reached out to Drew to remodel our master bathroom (due to a leak) after not hearing back from other contractors in a timely manner. We read the glowing reviews from other homeowners and we too were not disappointed with his services. His communication is excellent, he delivers on time, does what he says he's going to do, when he says he's going to do it, and the teams he works with are true professionals. We are so happy with the end result - and I am admittedly very picky. We asked for a tranquil spa-like bathroom and that is exactly what we got. Every person who has seen the space has walked in and exclaimed: it's so spa-like in here! Drew and his team are nothing short of incredible. We cannot recommend Drew enough and plan to work with him on future projects. Thank you, Drew for listening, planning, and executing flawlessly. read more

We had the pleasure of using Drew & Coastal Designs for a kitchen and master bathroom remodel. The job was completed two weeks earlier than scheduled (amazing given today's supply chain and labor woes). We are thrilled with both the end product and the fact that the process was as painless as a remodel can be. For example: Drew was very transparent and provided a comprehensive, 20+ page proposal that detailed each aspect of the remodel so there was no misunderstanding of the work to be performed. What is impressive is the quality of the work; his concern was that we don't have problems 10 years down the road. Drew only takes on a limited number of jobs at a time and provides his full attention to those jobs and is not spread too thin. He was onsite every day, and we met every morning to go through the work to be done and decisions to be made that day. He was always reachable by phone/text and usually responded to messages immediately. We liked that we could provide as much or as little input as we wanted. Where we did have specific requests, he LISTENED but would also (politely) tell us when our ideas were way out there/cause for concern. We valued Drew's input and professional expertise whereas we did not feel that the other contractors we interviewed would warn us of a bad idea. His team was very clean (and all were very nice) and he would send a cleaning person at the end of each work week so that the house was tidy for the weekend. Thus, we lived at home during the remodel without any problems. We obtained several quotes from other contractors as well, and while Coastal Designs was not the lowest quote, what gave us the most comfort was that Drew wanted the product to be done right (versus as fast as possible). Drew takes pride in his work and prioritizes quality over expediency. Most importantly, Drew is as nice and as honest as can be and was a pleasure to work with. We truly enjoyed working with Drew! read more

We could not be happier that we hired Drew to complete the remodel of our three bathrooms. The results have exceeded our expectations and working with Drew has been a pleasure. He finished the work ahead of schedule and the process was enjoyable from the first meeting through the constant communication and updates to the finished project. Would definitely hire Drew again. read more

This was our 2nd bathroom renovation with Drew at Coastal Designs and we were so happy with the results. He has a quality team of people who are skilled, professional, and efficient. Drew is a great collaborator and helped come up with creative solutions and options for our bathroom design. The most impressive thing is that he finishes the job on schedule and sometimes ahead of schedule, which is unheard of. He is incredibly organized and detail-oriented. We highly recommend Drew and Coastal Designs for any home project! read more

Look no further for a great Contractor.... or a great guy! I've known Drew since the early 90's when he walked into our office in Encinitas and wanted to work with a broker... not a salesperson.... his Mom was a realtor in Casper, Wyoming... and had trained him well :-) What a small world... we had been brokers in Cheyenne... and now were in Encinitas. So we went to work... and sold him a condo... then sold that... then sold him a house... then... then ... then... He's been a client and friend ever since. He decided to go into Real Estate... and we were his mentors... he is smart... really smart... and he is hard working.... really hard working... and he did well .... really well.... quickly. But... in improving all of the fixers we had sold him... he found his real calling... home improvement... and he is fantastic at it. But lots of people have great imaginations... lots of people have a vision... damned few have a work ethic. And... even fewer are world class gentlemen. This is a great person... and a great contractor! Obviously we are close friends... and just read the reviews from his clients that are probably now all close friends. You have finally found a contractor that will show up.... on time... listen... really listen to you... then deliver what you want. All with less pain... less frustration... and at a truly fair price... that when you factor in his competition... is a steal. My contractor of choice! read more

Coastal Designs Inc. is awesome! We just finished a complete remodel of our master bathroom and a facelift on our second upstairs bathroom. It was completed 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Drew took my inspiration picture and made it happen and it came out better than I could even imagine. His crews were professional, respectful and on time and their work was meticulous. All the products used were high quality and the workmanship impeccable. Drew even had a cleaning crew every Friday to keep the construction dust to a minimum. Drew kept us informed on the daily schedule and progress and was great about any communication. He completely took the stress out of having a remodel. We are so happy with our new bathrooms and it was such a great process. Drew over delivered! read more

I'm not sure how we could ever convey our gratitude to Coastal Designs and his entire team in the remodel of our Master Bathroom. Going through a major remodel is never fun and can be very intrusive. From day 1, even before demolition, Drew and his foreman Christian, were extremely respectful and did an amazing job making sure we felt comfortable amidst all the chaos. He has an incredible team of subcontractors who all share the same work ethic. We had done a kitchen remodel years ago and that process still left us with anxiety over starting another project. We were very selective with who we chose for this project. Even though Drew was not our lowest bid, his quiet assurance and humbleness made us feel confident that he was the right one. His proposal was extremely detailed and inclusive. He assured us that the cost of the project would only change if we changed something. Not only did he stay on budget but even finished a week and a half early. At no time during the process did we feel the need to micro manage. Drew pointed out tiny flaws and imperfections even before we had a chance to notice them, and quickly had them resolved. His perfectionism is even a little comical. It is evident that he is in the right business and loves his craft. We whole-heartedly recommend Drew with Coastal Designs. It was a pleasure working with him every step of the way. Thank you for our beautiful bathroom and for such a pleasant experience. read more

"If you are looking for a Company and a Contractor that has high integrity, is very timely, is a true professional and has an eye for design & detail, you've found your Company with Coastal Designs and Drew Efimoff. Drew told us up front, that he has never been late with a project, which was reassuring to us. Plus we signed a contract before any work was done, which laid out the end price. The time frame was 5 weeks and he hit it on the nose. Also, with the exception of the couple of things that we added, he was right on with the price he quoted. He was very responsive, as well. If we didn't get him live on the telephone when we called, he called us back within 5 to 10 minutes each and every time. You will not find a more professional contractor to work on your home." I can't thank Drew enough for creating a beautiful master bathroom for us. He handled every aspect of our renovation, which was really important for us because we have extremely busy work schedules. Selecting materials and finishes was easy and efficient due to Drew's great eye for design and use of high end retailers. His entire team was just as kind and dependable as Drew. They all wore masks the entire time to keep us safe. He even sent cleaning crews to mop up at the end of the day's work. We started our project at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and Drew still managed to complete our bathroom on time and within budget. Initially we were concerned about the cost, but we quickly learned that Coastal Designs is worth every penny. You won't find a nicer and more ethical designer & contractor than Drew. We highly recommend Coastal Designs and will definitely use them for any future projects. read more

We hired Drew/Coastal Designs to completely remodel our kitchen, and to create an outdoor living space. We had no idea how ugly our 30+-year-old kitchen and patio were until we compared the before photos to the beautifully finished product! We completely gutted the kitchen and got new custom cabinets (including some additional cabinetry and a pantry), new granite counters, a gorgeous backsplash, almost all new appliances, new lighting, and new flooring. Outside, they tore up the old uneven concrete and repoured a new foundation, laid new tile, and put in a built-in barbecue and mini-fridge (in a matching-granite counter), a custom-designed pergola, an outdoor television, and sunbrella curtains. Working with Drew/Coastal Designs was a pleasure. Drew is friendly, prompt, professional, and flexible. He was helpful and hands-on from start to finish. He has great taste and vision, and helped us design our dream kitchen and patio. When we hit a wall (literally) with our original plan to expand the kitchen into the garage (due to City Code issues), Drew helped us come up with a new plan that maximized what little space we had to work with. (He was also honest and straightforward about his area(s) of expertise. When we tossed around the idea of building out into the yard, Drew let us know that additions were not his forte, and further, would blow our budget out of the water. I was very appreciative of his honesty where I'm sure many others would have jumped at the chance for more work and money, even if they would not have been the right men (or women) for the job). Drew's initial proposal was extremely thorough and well-done. Though his bid was a little bit higher than another local contractor's, I am certain we came out on top because Drew was so conscientious with respect to finishing within the budget and on time, and further, in providing the highest quality products and services. Drew was extremely flexible, working around our busy schedules and meeting us on several evenings and weekends to go over design and material choices. Drew gave us his candid opinion on layout, aesthetics, and brand choices when necessary, but allowed us to remain extremely involved throughout the process. Drew provided a detailed construction schedule and stuck with it, except where he finished early. He has a seemingly bottomless reserve of friendly and professional subcontractors who were able to complete both the indoor and outdoor jobs (two BIG projects) in about 5 weeks, and we were really only without a working kitchen for about 3 weeks. This was crucial for the parents of a picky toddler! His crew was on time, hard-working, and cleaned up after themselves. Drew even hired a cleaning crew to clean the whole house when the project was finished! And Drew was there almost every day to oversee the work. Drew and Coastal Designs turned what I'm sure could have been a nightmare of an ordeal into a (nearly) painless experience. The remodel was finished in time for the holidays, and we happily showed off our gorgeous new kitchen by hosting a big Thanksgiving dinner. I'm happy to report that everything works like a charm :) My husband and I would highly recommend Drew and Coastal Designs for your remodeling needs. read more

I can't say enough good things about Drew and Coastal Designs but I'll give it a shot. First and foremost, the work they do is nothing short of beautiful. We had a small bathroom that needed a makeover and Drew turned it into something you'd see at a 5-star spa. He is craftsman that knows the meaning of customer service and is true to his word. But not only is his work magnificent, he is very reasonable and his rates rival the "cookie cutter" option we found in the marketplace. We are looking forward to having Drew do additional work in our home as soon as possible. read more

We recently worked with Coastal Designs on the Jet Rhys Salon tenant improvement. Drew and his team were professional, polite, and stayed on budget as well as timeline. We just completed our kitchen and bathroom remodel with Coastal Designs and couldn't be happier. This is the second remodel Drew has done for us. He did our kitchen remodel in our previous place in 2014 and we had a great experience with both projects. Drew and his team are very professional and considerate. The work is high quality. A lot of time is spent planning the layout to make sure it is functional and fits your needs. There is a good balance of listening to the clients requests while also offering alternative options that may work better for the space, either functionally or aesthetically (he kindly steered me away from a couple of bad ideas I had for our kitchen). There is great attention paid to all the little details which really have a big impact on the end result. The timeline of the project is determined prior to the start and he stuck to his proposed timeline. Drew came by everyday throughout the duration of the remodel to check on things. He is very responsive and easy to reach if anything comes up. We have recommended Coastal Designs to friends and they have all been very pleased with their experience as well. I spend a lot of time researching and reading reviews anytime we hire someone for a new project so I wanted to pass along what a great experience we have had with Coastal Designs ... on TWO remodels. read more

I had Coastal Designs build my retail store (SportClips) and I can't say enough good things about this company. A professional job, on time at a reasonable price. We were quite happy to work with our contractor, Drew! He and his team were professional, easy to deal with and downright friendly. His work remodeling our 40 year old kitchen left us amazed at the transformation. Our old kitchen was fairly large and the work entailed removing, trashing and replacing with all new cabinets, large appliances, flooring and painting all the walls. All was done on time according to the contract and Drew was always available keeping us in the loop at all times. We do recommend Coastal Designs for anyone wishing to remodel their kitchen! read more

This was by far the best experience I've ever had with a Contractor. Drew was terrific. In December of 2012, I purchased a new townhouse. The unit was built in the mid-80s and hadn't had any major renovations since. I was looking for a contractor/designer to do a total remodel including kitchen, bathrooms, lighting, painting, flooring, etc. I did my due diligence, reviewing several contractors/designers, and narrowed it down to three companies. Drew won the bid because of his extremely detailed proposal. He guaranteed that he would finish on-time and on-budget. He delivered. Throughout the planning process, Drew worked closely with me and my girlfriend in selecting colors, materials and concepts. On three occasions, he met us on the weekend to look at tile, stone and paint. He remained patient throughout, and did follow-up on all of his commitments. The quality of Drew's work is outstanding. He is a perfectionist, so every attention to detail was covered. I can't say enough about this guy. I'd hire him again in a minute. read more

If ever there was a tough client to have... it would be us. Drew was extraordinary in his support, guidance and recommendations in working with us. We were able to complete our project on time (in fact finishing before the agreed upon time) as well as on budget. We wanted to be very involved in this big project as it has been long a dream of ours. Drew recognized this and worked with us to make this possible. We were very involved during the whole process, from choosing how we were going to re-layout the new floor plan to deciding what type of fixtures we were selecting on the cabinets in the new kitchen. Drew was extremely flexible during the process, providing us with options and suggestions during key parts that made our decision process a lot smoother. Drew was very up front with costs of the project, providing a line item approach and giving detail on what the costs were. This was extremely helpful as it always kept us inform as to how we were doing against the overall budget without guessing. The experience with Drew from start to finish and with all of his sub contractors was extremely smooth. Each partner that Drew brought in was professional, very nice to be around and most importantly were excellent craftsman. read more

We hired Drew from Coastal Designs for a major remodel on our home last year. In addition to completing the project on time and on budget, Drew far exceeded my expectations on communicating with me and my husband on the project. He was on the job when he said he would be there (dail)y, he returned phone calls immediately, and his communications were always professional, clear, and allowed me the customer the opportunity to" think out loud" and discuss each issue, no matter how small. I would recommend Drew to anyone who wants a quality job and a contractor where no detail is too small. read more

My wife and I hired Drew at Coastal Designs to remodel our kitchen, powder room and family room. We spoke with two other contractors prior to Drew, and the difference in professionalism was night and day. Drew was the obvious choice, and we were very confident in our decision and ready to get started on the project with Drew. He arrived on time, was positive, and left us with a very professional and detailed quote, complete with samples. My wife has always had a very specific (out of the box) vision for our remodel and did not want a cookie cutter project. Drew was very attentive to every single detail and took notes during conversations. He followed up on every point we talked about and even sent photos of options. Drew found the exact materials we wanted and even had pieces custom made to fit our vision. If there was a detail we were not sure about, Drew had very professional input about what to do. He is definitely a designer as well. My wife was thrilled because she was confident that she was getting her dream kitchen! Once the remodel had officially started, everyday was an adventure. Literally, something was happening everyday and that was exciting for us. I think it is important that a project feels like it is moving along, and we weren't left idle without a kitchen for months. Drew never failed to impress. Everything was meticulously planned and everyone showed up as expected. We always knew what the plan for the day was. This was very helpful as we have a toddler who needs routines, and we had to plan her days while the remodel was going on. One of the best things about Coastal Designs are the subcontractors. Drew simply had the best of the best working for him. Everyone was timely, courteous, personable, and cleaned up at the end of the day. I would not hesitate to have anyone on this crew over for dinner. Our remodel was complete on time and on budget. This was phenomenal. True to his promise, there were zero charge ups unless it was something my wife and I changed during the process. Everything was noticeably beautiful and it felt as if we had moved! The floors that were once brown and scruffy are now sleek white and glossy. The standard yellow/orange oak cabinets are replaced with gorgeous black and cream cabinets. The appliances are all upgraded and matching. The tacky microwave over the stove was gone and we now have three beautiful focal points across the space: an oven hood you would see in a dream kitchen magazine, a crystal chandelier dazzling the dining space, and an ornate custom mantle in the family room. The powder room is its own little space that matches the big space perfectly. Everything is very cohesive and has very nice flow with colors and textures. We finally feel that we are at home in our element. We are beyond happy and have had nothing but compliments from family and friends. We have already recommended and will continue to recommend Drew at Coastal Designs for any remodel project. Thank you so much Drew for your passion for what you do and giving your clients a quality and personable experience. We cannot thank you enough! Rob and Angel Barnes read more
