We selected Drew Efimoff (Coastal Designs) for our kitchen and den remodel. Overall, we could not be happier with the results. My wife and I are both accountants by trade, and what we liked most about Drew was as follows: 1. Adherence to Schedule - when it comes to kitchens and baths, Drew is dialed-in. He knows exactly how long everything takes, the ideal order of operations for his subcontractors, and has them making progress everyday. Our friends were impressed by how quickly and efficiently our project came together. They made comments like "we used our friend to do a remodel and it took months!" There was nothing like that with Drew. 2. Detailed Itemized Budget - Drew put together a 3 page budget in our work proposal. There was no question what was in scope vs out of scope. It made review and discussion very straightforward and simple. 3. Design Consultation - we are not creative people by any means, and Drew was very helpful here. We had the pleasure of using Drew & Coastal Designs for a kitchen and master bathroom remodel. The job was completed two weeks earlier than scheduled (amazing given today's supply chain and labor woes). We are thrilled with both the end product and the fact that the process was as painless as a remodel can be. For example: Drew was very transparent and provided a comprehensive, 20+ page proposal that detailed each aspect of the remodel so there was no misunderstanding of the work to be performed. What is impressive is the quality of the work; his concern was that we don't have problems 10 years down the road. Drew only takes on a limited number of jobs at a time and provides his full attention to those jobs and is not spread too thin. He was onsite every day, and we met every morning to go through the work to be done and decisions to be made that day. He was always reachable by phone/text and usually responded to messages immediately. We liked that we could provide as much or as little input as we wanted. Where we did have specific requests, he LISTENED but would also (politely) tell us when our ideas were way out there/cause for concern. We valued Drew's input and professional expertise whereas we did not feel that the other contractors we interviewed would warn us of a bad idea. His team was very clean (and all were very nice) and he would send a cleaning person at the end of each work week so that the house was tidy for the weekend. Thus, we lived at home during the remodel without any problems. We obtained several quotes from other contractors as well, and while Coastal Designs was not the lowest quote, what gave us the most comfort was that Drew wanted the product to be done right (versus as fast as possible). Drew takes pride in his work and prioritizes quality over expediency. Most importantly, Drew is as nice and as honest as can be and was a pleasure to work with. We hired Drew/Coastal Designs to completely remodel our kitchen, and to create an outdoor living space. We had no idea how ugly our 30+-year-old kitchen and patio were until we compared the before photos to the beautifully finished product! We completely gutted the kitchen and got new custom cabinets (including some additional cabinetry and a pantry), new granite counters, a gorgeous backsplash, almost all new appliances, new lighting, and new flooring. Outside, they tore up the old uneven concrete and repoured a new foundation, laid new tile, and put in a built-in barbecue and mini-fridge (in a matching-granite counter), a custom-designed pergola, an outdoor television, and sunbrella curtains. Working with Drew/Coastal Designs was a pleasure. Drew is friendly, prompt, professional, and flexible. He was helpful and hands-on from start to finish. He has great taste and vision, and helped us design our dream kitchen and patio. When we hit a wall (literally) with our original plan to expand the kitchen into the garage (due to City Code issues), Drew helped us come up with a new plan that maximized what little space we had to work with. (He was also honest and straightforward about his area(s) of expertise. When we tossed around the idea of building out into the yard, Drew let us know that additions were not his forte, and further, would blow our budget out of the water. I was very appreciative of his honesty where I'm sure many others would have jumped at the chance for more work and money, even if they would not have been the right men (or women) for the job). Drew's initial proposal was extremely thorough and well-done. Though his bid was a little bit higher than another local contractor's, I am certain we came out on top because Drew was so conscientious with respect to finishing within the budget and on time, and further, in providing the highest quality products and services. Drew was extremely flexible, working around our busy schedules and meeting us on several evenings and weekends to go over design and material choices. Drew gave us his candid opinion on layout, aesthetics, and brand choices when necessary, but allowed us to remain extremely involved throughout the process. Drew provided a detailed construction schedule and stuck with it, except where he finished early. He has a seemingly bottomless reserve of friendly and professional subcontractors who were able to complete both the indoor and outdoor jobs (two BIG projects) in about 5 weeks, and we were really only without a working kitchen for about 3 weeks. This was crucial for the parents of a picky toddler! His crew was on time, hard-working, and cleaned up after themselves. Drew even hired a cleaning crew to clean the whole house when the project was finished! And Drew was there almost every day to oversee the work. Drew and Coastal Designs turned what I'm sure could have been a nightmare of an ordeal into a (nearly) painless experience. The remodel was finished in time for the holidays, and we happily showed off our gorgeous new kitchen by hosting a big Thanksgiving dinner. We just completed our kitchen and bathroom remodel with Coastal Designs and couldn't be happier. This is the second remodel Drew has done for us. He did our kitchen remodel in our previous place in 2014 and we had a great experience with both projects. Drew and his team are very professional and considerate. The work is high quality. A lot of time is spent planning the layout to make sure it is functional and fits your needs. There is a good balance of listening to the clients requests while also offering alternative options that may work better for the space, either functionally or aesthetically (he kindly steered me away from a couple of bad ideas I had for our kitchen). There is great attention paid to all the little details which really have a big impact on the end result. The timeline of the project is determined prior to the start and he stuck to his proposed timeline. Drew came by everyday throughout the duration of the remodel to check on things. This was by far the best experience I've ever had with a Contractor. Drew was terrific. In December of 2012, I purchased a new townhouse. The unit was built in the mid-80s and hadn't had any major renovations since. I was looking for a contractor/designer to do a total remodel including kitchen, bathrooms, lighting, painting, flooring, etc. I did my due diligence, reviewing several contractors/designers, and narrowed it down to three companies. Drew won the bid because of his extremely detailed proposal. He guaranteed that he would finish on-time and on-budget. He delivered. We spoke with two other contractors prior to Drew, and the difference in professionalism was night and day. True to his promise, there were zero charge ups unless it was something my wife and I changed during the process. Everything was noticeably beautiful and it felt as if we had moved! The floors that were once brown and scruffy are now sleek white and glossy. The standard yellow/orange oak cabinets are replaced with gorgeous black and cream cabinets. The appliances are all upgraded and matching. The tacky microwave over the stove was gone and we now have three beautiful focal points across the space: an oven hood you would see in a dream kitchen magazine, a crystal chandelier dazzling the dining space, and an ornate custom mantle in the family room. The powder room is its own little space that matches the big space perfectly. Everything is very cohesive and has very nice flow with colors and textures. We finally feel that we are at home in our element. We are beyond happy and have had nothing but compliments from family and friends.
