Found generations last night for a late dinner. We didn't get to town till almost 9 pm and that's when most places close around here. The menu was more than typical bar/pub food which is what attracted us to them. We were not disappointed. I had the Greek salad with steak tips and my daughter had the margarita pizza and some onion rings. Everything was fresh and tasty and the tips were cooked to perfection, meaty and delicious. We took all the food to go and ate it at the hotel but the restaurant was clean and well laid out properly distanced etc. the bar was well stocked with about 8 taps and plenty of TVs. The staff were very friendly and made this weary traveler feel right at home. This place has a great home town vibe that we will come back to the next time we are in Wheeling. read more

My friend used to work at generations and she has told me everything that happens behind the scenes. To start of, the lettuce for the salads stays in a bucket, in the back of the kitchen, and employees just reach in with their bare hands to grab as they need it. No gloves or any sanitizing at all is used. That is the salad that is served everyday. Several times things will fall on the ground and be quickly picked up and still used for the orders. Servers, cooks and managers will "Snack" out of people's plates before them being sent out. The managers are all related except for one. The owner's daughter smokes weed in the poker room on the weekends when her dad is not in because there are no cameras. She also smokes it on the deck. Her and her Girlfriend make a lot of other servers uncomfortable with the way they "express their affection " in the middle of the day during their shift. Several servers/managers Vape in the kitchen and throughout the restaurant, not caring about other people. The one manager who is not related to the owner is racist. When my friend was working there she witnessed him being racist towards cooks and to servers who were not white. He is also a perv, treats the girls really well and stares at them when they are not looking. This happened to my friend several times. The owner's dad, an old guy who is always in the restaurant harasses employees on a daily bases. He is racist towards the black workers and called servers fat pigs before. He also "accidentally " touches the women servers inappropriately and pretends like it never happened. Once again, that happened to my friend. Complains are made to the managers and the owner about everything and nothing is ever done. Mostly because they are all relates so they just keep it to themselves. It is a very toxic environment. That is the reason my friend does not work there anymore, she got tired of filling complaints and never getting the situation resolved. It is sad to see that a restaurant that used to be a go-to spot in wheeling is now becoming the shadiest restaurant in wheeling. Hope they can start doing better. read more

Live music, great location and great food. What's not to love? Staff: attentive - even when busy. Menu: complicated but comprehensive; many local and some Pittsburgh favorites. Food: quite a few steps above "pub grub" with some very notable stand outs worth discovering (pirogies are the bomb for sure!!!!) Consistency: came here once or twice ever year or so, nothing has ever been "off" meaning the place is reasonably tightly managed. Viability: the neighborhood places of old (some a liquor license loss or auction away from death) should take note. Quality and consistency leads to customer retention. Parking: sometimes not busy, but usually a crowd. Parking extends and spills out onto the street so a few times you may have to walk a wee bit. Atmosphere: sports-bar like with a few less screens and an outdoor patio area by the run in back. Many small nooks and rooms if you want a less noisy spot. read more

Just popped in while traveling home to Philadelphia and this place is a gem!!!! The owner was so nice and friendly- our server was super sweet! Such a huge menu- honestly couldn't decide what to get. Wings were awesome, wraps really good!! Great place to watch a game- tons of TV's and great sound- we watched the World Cup USA game. We stopped here on our way home to Pittsburgh on a recent weekend in Columbus. We found the place on Yelp and the pictures of the food looked good. We sat at the bar to order a drink and some food. Their bartender Fred was great. We are the people that like sitting at a bar a restaurant and eating. We like meeting other people and chatting. Lately it's hard to find a good bartender that makes you feel welcome and we go out a lot. Fred was the exception. If we lived closer I could see us going to that bar often. The menu was large and everything on it sounded appealing. Fred told us everything on the menu was solid. He was helpful in helping us order. He wasn't wrong. I had the Reuben with battered fries and my boyfriend had perogies and wings. I thought it was a funny combination but i like them both and it works for me. The perogies were phenomenal. Fred suggested the perogies with butter, onion and adding garlic and parmesean. Great suggestion on his part. This morning we were deciding where to meet friends tonight for dinner and my boyfriend said Generations. I said don't we wish. Unfortunately too far, but next time we are down that way that's where we will go and I hope Fred's at the bar. read more

Stephanie gets 5 s for excellent and friendly service. The food was good. Hubby ordered the steak which was perfectly prepared and Stephanie asked him if it was to his liking . Wings and Pirogies were tasty. I rated 4 stars overall because the pork chops were a bit dry. The Buffalo Chicken Dip was ok, too cheesy and not very much chicken. The pita chips were good though. Unimpressed. This was a recommendation from a coworker. Service just ok. Beers good. Food was mediocre at best. We ordered French onion soup. Wasn't the worst I had and definitely not the best. Tad salty. Next ordered the Fulton Hot Chicken (I was made to believe it was similar to the Nashville Hot Chicken). Well, it wasn't hot at all, the pickles were tasteless. Seriously, didn't even know they were in the sandwich. Served on Cibatta bread that was not even toasted. So the bun was just limp. Next was the French Onion Dip sandwich. This wasn't awful. I was really disappointed. I ordered a blackened chicken wrap..it was not blackened..plus I ordered a sun dried wrap server tried to tell me they are lighter in color but it is sun dried..NOT! Great Caesar salad, virgin strawberry daiquiri and service. Very short wait time. Many different kinds of food to choose from on the menu.

Very big and open atmosphere. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were helpful and attentive. The food was tasty too.

My Boyfriend and I made this a stop on our way home to my family for Christmas and after several hours of driving we were ready for some football, burgers and beer at Generations we got all three. The staff sat us were Mark and I could enjoy the Eagles game. Our waiter was VERY patient with us -mostly Mark :)- in trying to decide on our beer and dinner choices. We both devoured our burgers and the local selection of beer not IPAs was awesome. Hopefully we can get back to experience the outdoor seating on one of our future trips. read more

The sandwiches we ordered were OK, pretty average. One of our group declared the Philly Steak as "just OK". And the parking at this place sucks if there is a group event in their upstairs banquet room. HIGH marks to Dallas our server and the management for chasing down the person who clipped my motorcycles mirror cover, causing some but not major damage. They were all over the situation after an employee of the glass business across the street came to the dining area, found us, and advised me that my bike had been hit by an older guy in a Mercedes. The server, a rider, and another employee were key in finding the guy and letting me then deal with it. This place is located approximately halfway from our new home in Indiana to our old neighborhood in Baltimore, so we stop in Wheeling on our way for that middle of the long drive break. Found Generations on Yelp, and so happy we did. In the summer, the deck outside is inviting and the staff are premium friendly. Order anything you want, it's all good. I've never had good service the several times I've been in Generations. If I sit at a table the server disappears for a long while every time. Food is okay but usually cold. When I go for music or drinks the bartenders actively skip over me. Now I am aware of the owner's very ignorant and racist views and there's no more reason to keep trying this place. read more

Bitchin atmosphere, reminds me of Texas! Helpful staff, good looking servers, excellent food choices, and a beer named Elvis juice. Can't really go wrong. Very happy I choose to stop in, has the dive bar feel with a little added class. Wish there weren't so many old people (60+) here but I came early (that's what she said) and maybe that's the problem. Stopped in for a late lunch and for out of towners finding the entrance took us a little bit. Hint.... head to the back of the building. We all got an appetizer and shared with the table. Buffalo dip, Tater skins, Pierogis, and pizza logs aka (a pizza egg roll). We also got the Scarface sub to share. Came here on a random Wednesday, were told we couldn't sit in the main area because trivia was happening in an hour and ten minutes. So we had to take a seat at the bar, which was awkward for our group of 4. The bar service was very quick and friendly, drinks were cheap and cold. Ordered our food - wings and salad. The salad didn't come with the base of fries like detailed on the menu, but they were able to put in a side order of fries to fix it. Overall the salad was just OK, the wings were good, and the overall experience was decent.
