First time here and we will definitely be back! Started off with an order of their chips and salsa. Their homemade tortilla chips were the star of the show for me along with the salsa (it had a sweetness to it which was uniquely delicious). We even bought a jar of it to bring home! I had the Turkey Bacon Hoagie which was great. Our server was very sweet and helpful! It was relatively busy and I still felt like we were being taken great care of! Hands down the best restaurant in Wheeling! It was so good that we ended up eating here two nights in a row during our weekend trip. Both evenings, we had wonderful service from two different ladies. They were personable, fun, and willing to accommodate our requests. Not the mention the food. Holy cow. The first evening I had a steak wrap, which was made with actual steak! The second evening I had the salmon salad and was wow-ed all over again. The salmon was blackened and cooked to perfection, but the champagne vinegarette really set this salad apart from others I've had. I wish I could've purchased this dressing in bulk! First the at Market Vines and absolutely loved the wings. The place has a dark, low key itch that needs scratching. Service has a bit of attitude that is perfect if the vibe. The menu is sandwiches and fried bar food. We ordered an appetizer, but decided there was nothing that enticed enough to have a full meal. The app sampler had onion petals, fried green beans, fried cheese balls, and fried pickles. It was okay. The cheese was the best, but it was the most scant portion of the appetizer- maybe triple the number of onions in there and double everything else. The decor is simple and the menu is fine. I wish I had something spectacular to say in this review, but nothing either impressed, nor underwhelmed me. It was all very average. read more

Came for lunch around 1pm on Saturday and we were seated immediately. I was pleased that even though it was a bar type atmosphere, they offered high chairs and a kids menu. We ordered the fried pickles, tomato soup and Georgia reuben. Everything was really good and I cannot believe how quickly it came out after ordering. They seemed a bit understaffed when we were there. The bartender was also taking the orders at many tables. We didn't hold it against her when she was delayed getting back to our table. We made an unexpected stop here after leaving the brewery next door. We had intended to stay at the brewery until leaving for dinner, but after a very lack luster visit we decided to check this place out since we now had some time to kill. First impressions, it seemed like more of a dive bar than a wine bar, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. I enjoy dive bars, but I was curious about their wines. We sat at the bar and were waited on by one of the nicest most personable bartenders one has the fortune to meet. I wish I would have wrote this review earlier as I forget her name, but she was amazing. I told her what I like and she suggested a glass of true myth cabernet sauvignon 2013. I love cabs and this one did not disappoint. Beyond great suggestions, she was very engaging and we discovered that she briefly lived right outside of Pittsburgh which led to lots of stories. We really enjoyed our time here. She attempted to secure a food order from us a couple of times but we declined as we had reservations elsewhere. Not sure if the food could hold a candle to the delicious wine and the great company but I wouldn't hesitate to make a return visit in the future. Get the Cajun shrimp wrap! I'm visiting from out of town (DC) and needed a bite to eat. I ordered the Cajun shrimp wrap (extra shrimp) and it was DELICIOUS! The staff is very attentive and service was quick. Everything is reasonably priced. The atmosphere is that of neighborhood bar - I wasn't there for drinks so I won't touch on that but my wrap was DELICIOUS. Too bad I don't live in the area - hope to come back. read more

Traveling from NYC to Columbus, we were hungry and looking for a local place to grab a quick dinner. Yelp led us to The Market Vines, which seemed promising based on the reviews that others had left. As we entered the area where the restaurant is located, we wondered if we were the only people in the entire neighborhood -- all the other businesses were closed on a Saturday evening, and not a soul was in the street. It was a little creepy, I have to say. When we found the restaurant, we realized that it is a local place where locals hang out, and it seemed that locals were the only people who knew about this place. Our server was a very nice person who seemed to be running her legs off. The place was not jam packed, though there was a good number people there. It had a homey feel to it while also giving off a slight sports bar vibe. The noise level was that of any normal restaurant -- not quiet but not so loud that two people couldn't have a normal conversation. I ordered a burger, and my wife ordered a Philly. I was surprised to find that my burger came on Texas toast. The size of the meat patty was great since I was quite hungry -- it was thick and juicy, and it was very flavorful. The toast it came on was good, but in retrospect I believe that I would have preferred a normal bun. My wife's Philly was good, but she says that the proportion of bread to meat/fillings was off -- there was way too much bread for the amount of meat and fillings put on it. The one really good thing about her sandwich was that the beef used in it was actual steak that had been cooked to order and then sliced up for the sandwich -- not the shredded meat that gets slapped onto the grill for a few seconds and then thrown onto the bread. The potato chips that came with both sandwiches were very good, having been made fresh by the restaurant. Would I go back? Sure, why not? It's nothing out of the ordinary, and it didn't wow me. But the food was good and the atmosphere was inviting. So yeah, if I'm back in Wheeling again, I'll stop in. read more

I LOVE the Philly wrap here. My steak (actual steak, not shaved steak, which is awesome) is always cooked perfectly and tastes wonderful and is a great price. I put four stars instead of five because the acoustics are not very good and the service is pretty cut and dry, but efficient. Go get this Philly wrap!!! read more

Ordered lunch. It was very simple. Was told no problem 5 minutes. I went to pick up my food, 10 minutes after I called. The waitress acknowledged my take out walked to the back to get it. As I'm waiting for my order (over 10 minutes) my waitress never came out. A different server went to get my order. There was one table and a single person at the bar. I could understand if the restaurant was busy, however that is horrible service. Oh my sandwich was horrible too! read more

This is a great little bar/restaurant. I had a Reuben and it arrived piping hot and tasted delicious. The bread was toasted perfectly and just the right amount of toppings. The meat was prepared well and had a great taste. They have a good selection of wine and beer. Our server was knowledgable and very friendly. Market Vines probably has the best bottled beer selection of any bar in Wheeling. I'm not 100% sure if that is a true statement, but they do carry Rogue. That's big time, in my book. My wife and I also enjoyed our dinner, but found it just a tad on the greasy side (earning it 4, instead of 5 stars). The chips were homemade and enjoyable. I ordered their special, which was a Fish Rueben. It was a fantastic concept, in my opinion. The sandwich was toasted rye bread, thousand island dressing, lettuce and two deep-fried filets from Coleman's (across the street). I think the sandwich would have been better with only one filet, as the fish taste over-powered any other flavor that it might have offered. Also, I thought that ruebens had sauerkraut on them and not just lettuce. As a bar, it has very good food. As a wine bar, there could be less fried food and more fresh options. Love this local gem in the middle of a small quaint city center market. Super friendly service, upscale sports bar style ambience, great for date nights or with a small group. Amazing wraps - we loved the veggie wraps with pepper cheese and any of the chicken wraps. The homemade salsa with warm homemade pita chips was amazing. Stopped in on a rainy day at the end of April 2018. Two very friendly employees waited on me. It was warm and newly renovated. The salmon salad looked to die for. Nice wine selection. Nice draught beer choices. One small tv so not a sports bar. Light music playing. Good meet and greet location because you can hear each other over the music. Parking is a little tricky as you may need to walk a little. I ordered the cheese and cracker and olive tray to take back to the hotel with a bottle of wine to go. Nice treat for the husband after a day of golf. There is great art work for sale across the street at centre market. Check it all out!!!! read more

It is a pretty good place overall, but didn't feel anything special to really draw me in. A beer and wine only place with some reasonably good food. This is not your late night place; however, it is a good place to kick off an evening out or just have a casual meal with friends or maybe even a date. I have never had such an awful experience in a restaurant that had nothing to do with the food or service. When my friends and I walked in, the place was rather busy and the bartender asked us if we'd like a table. After replying that we would, she wrote our name down and we purchased drinks and waited for something to open up. After about 15 minutes she said, "That table over there is yours once it's cleaned up". We sat down and enjoyed our drinks, appetizer, dinner and the live music that was playing. After about an hour, we paid our bill and were finishing up when the owner of the restaurant approached us and asked if "we stole the table, because there is a waiting list". After telling her we gave our name to her staff and were told to sit at that table, she went to check the waiting list, came back and said "I guess it is okay". We were taken aback by the rudeness of the owner and felt it could have been asked in a different manner. At that point, we decided it was better to leave the rest of our meal and walk out. My friend approached the owner and told her we didn't appreciated being treated with such rudeness and it's a shame she acts like that toward customers. The owner told my friend that she does that all the time and she doesn't care what he thinks. While we were outside, standing under an awning two businesses down from Market Vines, the owner comes outside to "apologize". However, after telling her we did not want her apologies, she said, "I'm not f***ing sorry, f*** you. Never come back." I was so astonished by her reaction and the way she had treated us, as paying customers, that I said nothing except, "Don't worry". She then went inside and came back out with 2 men and another woman; one of the men (the owner's husband) got in my friend's face and starting screaming at him and poking my friend in the chest with his finger. My friend's wife then took out her phone to video tape their outrageous behavior and the woman owner hit her hand away and grabbed her phone, all while screaming obscenities at us. The owner made it very clear that "young people like us" are not welcome in her establishment. I have never been treated in such a manner for waiting for a table, eating food, drinking beverages and paying a bill. I do not recommend supporting this restaurant or its owners. I'm saddened that small business owners treat their customers with such disrespect, especially in a town that needs businesses like this to revive its struggling downtown. read more

A friend swears they have the best burgers in the Valley, but I can't personally verify this-I can say they have a large and creative burger menu.
