We have passed by this place a bunch of times and never knew anything about it especially because looks can be deceiving. Well don't judge a book by it's cover. We read a review on a social media and happened to be in the area and stopped. The parking lot was packed and the wait time was around 45 minutes. Normally we wouldn't wait but I'm glad we did. The wait time was less than that. The menu was so overwhelming with choices. We went with the rotisserie rosemary rib sampler as an appetizer since that was something new. So delicious and tender, won't even need the sauce. My husband had the prime rib (which could have fed a whole family). I chose the shrimp scampi but asked for a side of the homemade alfredo Yum. I'm just sad we didn't get dessert, they only had carrot cake or an apple option. read more

Had been wanting to stop here. So last night with 3 other friends my wife and I made reservations and are very glad we did. This place is crazy busy. Yet we were seated at our reserved time were given drinks and bread fairly quickly and our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. She said she'd been there for twenty years. You must get the house dressing with your salad and adding blue cheese crumbles was also extra special. All the pasta and meatballs are excellent. My friends NY strip on toast was amazing to behold. Oh the stuffed peppers were unbelievably great, however be prepared they have a kick! Then I tasted my other friends blacked tuna steak....I can only say OMG. Sat outside in the tent due to Covid crap. Inside, well the whole place was packed so service was slow, and the prices were pretty high by WV standards. The drinks were right sized, cold and good mix/flavor. 4 us and not a complaint at all. Shrimp, Mussels, fried pickles, salads, hamburger and sausage sandwich, lobster ravioli were all very well done. Fresh bread, sides and apps all good. The restaurant was very busy however they did as great job sitting us down and ordering our food. We ordered the wing ding wings with side of Buffalo sauce. They were above average. For our main course we had the rotisserie chicken and Ribs. Very good. The chicken was very larger and moist and the ribs were soft and tender with. BBQ sauce on the side. Abbey's is a fantastic place to eat or just hang out at the bar.It is a family owned restaurant and I guanantee that you'll meet Abbey on Friday and Saturday nights . The food is consistanly great and the service is always outstanding. I eat here at least four times a month and have never left disapointed. I went there on the way home from spending the day at the hospital with my mother in the hospital ICU. I really needed to relax and have a good meal as I had nothing but chips and water all day. That was not to be. I ordered steak which I had been told was wonderful. Not my idea of wonderful ! The steak was tough, very thin, and quite overdone. Baked potato was cold, and salad was just iceberg lettuce mix from a bag. Won't go back. By the way Rick B. travel a little further down 70 off the Ogelbay exit and go to Wild West. The location is not the best part of town, but I would say it is one of the few bright spots to Wheeling Island. Some menu items are like good home cooking, while others could be improved upon. Normally, our route took us up to St Clairsville, Ohio before cutting "inland." The Mediterranean wings were some of the best wings I have ever had and the Abbey's Special pasta was delicious.
