Bloody Mary and Chimay beer with TV in background

We were looking for a place to watch the football game and grab a bite and Generations fit the bill perfectly. Good service, good food and lots of TVs. Also appreciated the variety of gluten free options available. Sweet potato tots are gluten free and were delicious!

This place is large, both inside and outside it looks like. We sat inside and there's a massive bar and looks to be the place to be in Wheeling. There also seems to be a large outdoor patio, which would be a nice option for good weather! We got a mix of things...hot pepper cheese balls which were fantastic. The chili was really good and I loved all the toppings. Then we ordered these baskets which were wings and pierogies. You can get them both tossed in different sauces so we did a little toss action. Overall this place had decent bar food and I would return!

The good lord meant for beer to be served cold. Sorry, Ireland.

If you are rolling down I-70 through the little sliver of West Virginia between Ohio and Pennsylvania, then just know that Wheeling has plenty to offer. You can find a chain at which to eat - OR - you can choose to visit family-owned establishments to satisfy your food and drink appetites. Generations is just such a place. I stumbled in here looking for a cold beer and some great local fare. Lucky me, because I found both, plus wonderful local company to go along with an outstanding regional vibe. Amazing sight-lines from the bar with a screen in almost any direction, perfect for sports and entertainment in close to 360°. Beer on tap ranges from national brands (yawn) to local options, so I ordered up an 'Almost Heaven' from Mountain State Brewing, because West Virginia. Also: shout out to you John Denver fans that would recognize the connection. It was malty & sensational, with a color that belies the 'heavenly' part. I was in coal country and some Polish fare was clearly in order. I did a plate of pierogies, the traditional potato dumplings sautéed in butter with onions, and a handful of wings. The pierogies were SPECTACULAR, done just right and plump with potatoes & cheese, while the wings were the perfect complement. Pro tip: get the dry rub, the 'Gen's Wing Dust', and savor the flavor. Not too messy and not too spicy, and tempered handily with a little touch of bleu cheese or ranch. When coupled with cold beer, this is a perfect football platter, so what channel has the local team? West Virginians are proud folk and with good reason. Generations has a solid array of local memorabilia and photos of yesteryear, so take a gander around the premises to see what you can find. The owner/manager is inexplicably a *Raiders* fan (I know, huh?), but if there is a Steelers or Mountaineers event happening, then you can be sure this place will be hopping. But if the beer is cold and the food is hot and plentiful, then you can see why the name 'Generations' fits just right.

First time giving this place a try and must say I was impressed. The building doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you're inside it's hard to believe. It's huge, has an entire stage setup inside, has a big bar area with big screen TV's, two separate dinning areas inside as well as a deck outside for seating and entertainment. We were greeted and seated right away. Our waitress was friendly and attentive throughout our time there. The menu was quite big and had a good selection. I went with the grilled pub steak with white cheddar mac and cheese and the redskin mashed potatoes. The steak was a little tough, but tasted good and the sides were both delicious. I will definitely be back.

Great bar and restaurant in Wheeling, WV. Plenty of tv's for sports watching, big menu with everything a great sports bar can offer. Burgers, dinners, salads, wings, sandwiches, plenty of appetizers. We got the Sweet Thai Chili boneless wings. Nice crunchy, chunks of breast meat, good Thai sauce, made for a great app. I got the Sweet-N-Spicy Bourbon BBQ Burger Blackened seasoning, Jim beam and bourbon glaze infused sauteed onions, Pepper Jack, peach bourbon BBQ sauce, lettuce and tomato. Of course, bacon was added as usual. Everything worked together, burger was cooked perfect for me. Everything a burger fiend like me needed. A side of crunchy onion rings, dipped in Ranch. A great lunch was had. Will be back for sure to try other things on the vast menu.

Pierogies matter! And if WV wants to fry them, it's perfectly fine with me. They have everything here. Music (sometimes). Burgers, wings, chicken parmesan, SALAD (theoretically). WV Dogs and a vibe. Fun for all and filling.

It was really busy when we were there on a Saturday night - bar was full and we got the last table in the dining area. We snagged a couple seats at the bar after we ate and it was great fun. Three people were covering the whole front of the house - tables and bar, food orders and drinks. They were hopping and killing it. We didn't have a long wait for anything to come out to us. Hope to get back again soon!

My husband, baby, and I came in on a Thursday around 1pm. Seemed like the bartender was also serving in multiple rooms. She was friendly, albeit a little slow in service (though she was hustling). We ordered the fried pickles and a ciban sandwich with a side salad ($2 upcharge). The salad came out first and it was quality fresh greens, cheese, tomato, olives, cucumber, and green peppers. Very nice. The fried pickles were good but also came out with a boatload of fried dough pieces on the plate. Not sure they were worth the $10 cost. The cuban sandwich was super yummy and plenty big for 2 people. Prices were a little elevated but it was well worth the stop. Would happily come again!

And that's where it pretty much ended for me. We were greeted by 2 individuals prior to being sat. Once we were sat I was told I couldn't have any outside drinks. I was carrying a hot tea in a paper cup when we walked in. No one else mentioned this. I later read a posting in the bathroom about outside drinks being prohibited. Seemed like it was mostly to prevent outside alcohol but was a blanket statement for all drinks. I thought it was odd I had to take my hot tea back to my car. Besides that the waitress wasn't super warm and friendly either. If I remember correctly she started with, "what are you drinking?" After I had to walk my tea to our parked vehicle. The food was mid. Very very mid. I got a salmon savory crepe. The salmon was dry, almost white in color and just seemed old. The crepe itself was chewy and hard to cut. My husband's wrap was decent. Kids plates were also decent. I liked that you "created" their plate from 3 categories or options. Overpriced for quality and portion. Once our food arrived there was a swarm of gnats that came with it. Our table was wobbly so cutting any food shook the entire surface. Our toddler caught on to this and wanted to rock the table the whole time. So between holding the table, trying to cut food and swatting gnats away.. it just wasn't a good experience all together. I'm confident there are better options in town for us to try when we return.

It was big enough to share with three people! This is the type of restaurant that has silly names for everything on their menu. For example, Crepes of Wrath is a savory crepe with sausage, and Banana-fo-Fana has bananas and granola in it. Usually, I refuse to say these silly names out loud when I order, and instead will just order according to the ingredients. ("Give me the Nutella and berries crepe.") I know. I'm that person! You don't want to take me to a silly-names restaurant, because I will ruin your silly-names experience. In this case, though, the silly names are so pervasive throughout the menu that I was overwhelmed and I just gave up. Sometimes, you just have to grit your teeth and play along. Yes, I did say, "Give me the Last Tango." Before the crepe, though, we got lunch. Later Alligator has a huge sandwich menu. At least two dozen different sandwiches! Then there's wraps, salads, appetizers and a kids' menu. I got the Fowl Play (sigh), which is chicken salad with lettuce and tomato on a croissant. My oldest kid got the Club Car, which included ham, turkey, Swiss cheese and lettuce. In case you were wondering: The silly names extend to the kids menu, too! (Which Wich Tuna Fish is just one example.) My younger kid got the Munchkin (mac and cheese). The kids' mac and cheese here is a mini cup, so just keep that in mind if your child eats a lot. Both of my children eat like birds, so the size of the mac and cheese wasn't a problem for us. This is also the type of restaurant that has interesting things everywhere you look (including the restroom!), so take some time to look around at all of the paraphernalia everywhere.

From Instagram to the website, it gave the impression that it was a brewery, so I was excited to try something new. We were seated quickly outside, which was great. When our waitress came over, I asked about their beer list. She told me their cooler had gone bad and all of their beer was currently bad. I asked if they had anything on tap, and she said no. Confused, I asked if they had just opened, and she said they had actually been open since 2020. At that point, I asked if they brewed their own beer, and she told me they did not. She said someone in Dover, OH, brews for them--but currently, the only beers available were Busch, Bud, Blue Moon, and Saucy's IPA. While Saucy Brew Works is a good Ohio brewery we've visited before, it was disappointing to realize this place wasn't an actual brewery and didn't serve anything brewed in-house. I settled for the Saucy's IPA, which was fine, but I had really hoped to try their own beer--especially given the name and branding. That said, the food came out quickly and was actually quite good, which helped redeem the experience a bit. Overall, just be aware this isn't a real brewery, and if you're going for the beer, you might leave a little disappointed. But if you're just looking for a bite to eat, it's worth checking out.
