And that's where it pretty much ended for me. We were greeted by 2 individuals prior to being sat. Once we were sat I was told I couldn't have any outside drinks. I was carrying a hot tea in a paper cup when we walked in. No one else mentioned this. I later read a posting in the bathroom about outside drinks being prohibited. Seemed like it was mostly to prevent outside alcohol but was a blanket statement for all drinks. I thought it was odd I had to take my hot tea back to my car. Besides that the waitress wasn't super warm and friendly either. If I remember correctly she started with, "what are you drinking?" After I had to walk my tea to our parked vehicle. The food was mid. Very very mid. I got a salmon savory crepe. The salmon was dry, almost white in color and just seemed old. The crepe itself was chewy and hard to cut. My husband's wrap was decent. Kids plates were also decent. I liked that you "created" their plate from 3 categories or options. Overpriced for quality and portion. Once our food arrived there was a swarm of gnats that came with it. Our table was wobbly so cutting any food shook the entire surface. Our toddler caught on to this and wanted to rock the table the whole time. So between holding the table, trying to cut food and swatting gnats away.. it just wasn't a good experience all together. I'm confident there are better options in town for us to try when we return.

Crepes are the star here, so definitely get a crepe! They have sweet crepes and savory crepes, and…read morewe got one of the classic sweet options with Nutella, berries and whipped cream. It was big enough to share with three people! This is the type of restaurant that has silly names for everything on their menu. For example, Crepes of Wrath is a savory crepe with sausage, and Banana-fo-Fana has bananas and granola in it. Usually, I refuse to say these silly names out loud when I order, and instead will just order according to the ingredients. ("Give me the Nutella and berries crepe.") I know. I'm that person! You don't want to take me to a silly-names restaurant, because I will ruin your silly-names experience. In this case, though, the silly names are so pervasive throughout the menu that I was overwhelmed and I just gave up. Sometimes, you just have to grit your teeth and play along. Yes, I did say, "Give me the Last Tango." Before the crepe, though, we got lunch. Later Alligator has a huge sandwich menu. At least two dozen different sandwiches! Then there's wraps, salads, appetizers and a kids' menu. I got the Fowl Play (sigh), which is chicken salad with lettuce and tomato on a croissant. My oldest kid got the Club Car, which included ham, turkey, Swiss cheese and lettuce. In case you were wondering: The silly names extend to the kids menu, too! (Which Wich Tuna Fish is just one example.) My younger kid got the Munchkin (mac and cheese). The kids' mac and cheese here is a mini cup, so just keep that in mind if your child eats a lot. Both of my children eat like birds, so the size of the mac and cheese wasn't a problem for us. This is also the type of restaurant that has interesting things everywhere you look (including the restroom!), so take some time to look around at all of the paraphernalia everywhere.

The restaurant/bar was to the left and a huge banquet hall upstairs. But, it turned out great!! The only noise was my family and our music. Our hostess, Stacey, was so amazing!! We chose a high top by the bar and were told there was no table service, but the bartender ended up coming over to wait on us anyway. The inside of the restaurant is pretty, spacious, and has a lot of natural light due to the floor to ceiling windows. The food was honestly just ok. The baked artichoke dip with pita bread was good (7/10). It was creamy, cheesy, and the pita was warm with a nice chew to it. The gnocchi left something to be desired, in my opinion. The sauce was a little bland and the dish could've used some cheese or something to boost the flavor. The side salad was as expected. The burger was our favorite. It was juicy, the bacon was crisp, and the BBQ sauce wasn't too sweet. The tots were crispy and lightly salted. Parking is on the street out front. We found a spot about a block or two down and didn't have an issue with the short walk.

You order at the counter, find a seat and they bring your order out to you. We were there on a Saturday night and it was packed. Seating is first come with a bar, individual tables and large communal table. It was busy so we did have to wait a short time for someone to vacate a table big enough for eight. We really wanted burgers but they informed us there was a 45 minute wait on food from them. They did tell us the pizza place was only about a 15 minute wait. We decided to stay and order pizza and weren't disappointed. The margherita pizza was very tasty with a nice amount of mozzarella cheese and their special with all the meats and hot honey was excellent. They were having a magic show on the stage side of the hall which the kids seemed to be enjoying. The only thing that was a bit confusing is you enter the room and have to walk through the room to the back to order at the windows but it's not clear how it works. Especially if it's packed and people are standing everywhere and blocking the windows. We stood at the entrance behind another party that were there before us trying to figure out if they had to wait to be seated or where to go after entering. A sign instructing you to keep walking and order at the windows would prevent people from just standing in the doorway.

The restaurant was quite busy, but we were able to dine at the bar. The staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered drinks which were served promptly followed by two entrees. My entree was a chicken parm with pasta. It was cooked to perfection with a sauce that was a bit tart. It also came with a lemon. I had a tiramisu for dessert which was also very tasty. The restaurant is like a time capsule dating to the 1950's. It was somewhat dimly lighted, which provided a very comfortable mod for dining. The meals were not inexpensive, but we felt they were a good value. The bartender was willing to chat as much as a guest desired. There is a room in the back with several slot machines and a dedicated following. The meal was the highlight of the several days we spent in Wheeling. If we ever return, it will be first on our list, but we will make reservations this time.
