We had gone here last year and loved it... not the case this time! When our party of 5 arrived,…read morethere were 2 or 3 others in the restaurant. The waitress started off by telling us all of the menu items that were not available - no chicken, no coquille, no onion soup, etc. 3 of us ordered steaks. Mine came with smashed potatoes and green beans and they were stone cold. The steak (filet) was nearly raw and was actually cold to touch. So was my daughter's. The waitress took our plates back and the whole plate was heated in a microwave. It was all tasteless and awful!!! My daughter's boyfriend had a New York strip steak that was ok and my daughter had crab cakes that were mediocre, but for a $500 meal, it was disgusting. - Two women came to the restaurant and the hostess was heard telling them that it would be a 40 minute wait because they were short of staff. There were actually more staff than there were customers. Before we left, we were the only ones there. It just seemed like they were anxious to close the restaurant. Extremely disappointing.

They not only have bar type food, they have great pizza and appetizers as well. They also have "real" food-good quality dinners like in a fine dining restaurant. It's not often that one restaurant is good at both. These guys are! Our server was outstanding! In keeping with the flexible and varied menu, I was in a hoodie and ball cap but felt completely comfortable even though the decor was leaning a little upscale. They cover a lot of territory and do it exceptionally well. Can't wait for another trip to Cabela's/Char House!

Fantastic I like…read moretotally flew by the seat of my pants when I planed the West Virginia portion of our trip. Wheeling seemed to be somewhere in the vicinity of our drive to Morgantown tomorrow so I decided to stay the night. Looking for a place for dinner, I stumbled upon this place on Yelp in wheeling. Little did I know what an iconic place this is. We arrived at 5:15 on a Wednesday evening bc we are getting old. A couple leaving at 5:15 made us see our future. We were fortunately seated immediately. The inside is SO CUTE. I can't get enough of it. It felt like such an authentic Italian experience. Our server was incredible. So nice, personable, helpful. We started with our beverage orders. I went with a little something off their cocktail menu the elderflower martini which, exactly as I expected, was way more like spiked juice than a "martini" but I wouldn't want it any other way. Don't think I wasn't intrigued by the fried cheese but we have been eating a fair amount of that lately so instead of offering an app, I opted for an entree (stuffed rigatoni) and a side of broccoli. GF ordered fettuccine with red clam sauce. She got a house salad and I didn't for some reason. The broccoli was seasoned wonderfully but the texture wasn't as crisp as I would have liked. The rigatoni and the house sauce was ORGASMIC. That sauce is incredible I would gladly buy it by the jar. The rigatoni were al dente pillows of creamy ricotta heaven. Spectacular. GF regarding her red clam sauce pasta, "delicious". We also ordered the tiramisu to go so stay tuned on that.

We arrived and thought maybe we are a little underdressed for this place. So we asked for outside seating. There was a couple with a kiddo out there it was quiet and not as cold as inside. Very nice. Drinks? Asked the waitress "do you have sweet and is it good!?" "Oh yes!" She replied. Me and my grandson agreed on sweetea. She brought it out and it was quite weak and had an odd taste. Yuh, they don't have filtered water. So it's WV chlorinated. We ordered an appetizer and it came quickly. 2 Ribeyes medium and medium rare. And a cod filet. The cod came out 45 min before the steaks. We kept being told by the waitress and owner I'm guessing "just a few more minutes!" An hour after sitting down maybe longer two well don't steaks were sat infront of hubby and grandson. Absolutely not! We were going to suck it up but it wasn't cheap. So the guy said he'd take and replace the steaks. 30 ish min later the steaks came out still overdone. They gave us no discounts brought out an entire other full serving of food. Over 2 1/2 hours total. We were going to serve the overcooked meet to our dogs and they wouldn't even eat the meat or the bone. Apparently this place is popular with the locals but our experience was extremely poor.

After an additional 10 minutes we tried to order food and was told that they have run out of food. We were confused as it shows they close at 11 and she said they always close at 10. The website shows 11 and the front desk initially said 11 as well until they shifted on that and said 10. The waitress couldn't be less interested in doing her job. We shouldn't have to wait that long for service and she needed to say at the onset that they close at 10 and they are low on food. Low on food even though she said the main area that holds more food is stocked and they decided not to go grab it. This place sucks. Look elsewhere.

We chose a high top by the bar and were told there was no table service, but the bartender ended up coming over to wait on us anyway. The inside of the restaurant is pretty, spacious, and has a lot of natural light due to the floor to ceiling windows. The food was honestly just ok. The baked artichoke dip with pita bread was good (7/10). It was creamy, cheesy, and the pita was warm with a nice chew to it. The gnocchi left something to be desired, in my opinion. The sauce was a little bland and the dish could've used some cheese or something to boost the flavor. The side salad was as expected. The burger was our favorite. It was juicy, the bacon was crisp, and the BBQ sauce wasn't too sweet. The tots were crispy and lightly salted. Parking is on the street out front. We found a spot about a block or two down and didn't have an issue with the short walk.
