I got two Philly Steak tacos and a beer. Great atmosphere and excellent service. I will be going back.

Taqueria 304 is an awesome Wheeling gem and well-worth a visit if you have an affinity for all things Mexican food. Came here with a friend last week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I want to lead with the best here: the bartender/server here provided some of the best service I have experienced in the last few years. So many people have come to expect poor service (including myself) that positive experiences like this really serve as a wake-up call to what the dining experience ought to be like. Kudos to Taqueria 304 for hiring the best! I can't omit the excellent food and stellar plate presentation either. My friend and I both got the loaded nachos as our entrees and they were as delicious as they were beautiful. As for the drinks, plenty of beers on tap and in bottles to suit your needs, particularly of the Mexican variety (fitting). Ambiance is nice with some clever furnishings, like the sideways doors carpentered to serve as an entryway wall. One thing I will mention is that open-concept establishments tend to have noise issues and this place is no exception; even still, my friend and I were able to hear each other on this occasion (no promises when the place is full). Parking here can be challenging due to all the construction currently happening in the area though there are spots available on both sides of the street which ought to be enough at most times of the day. All things considered, Taqueria 304 is a welcome addition to the area and I hope they stick around for a long time to come! Overall: 4.5 stars ---- Pros: - Outrageously good service, that needs to be commended in a world where such service is increasingly rare. - Excellent food with a skilled eye for presentation. - Great draft/bottle beer selection. - Pleasant ambiance with clever furnishings. Cons: - Open-concept spots can have noise issues, though it wasn't too bad during our visit. - Parking is tough but still available. read more

Taqueria 304 - Loaded nachos - Tacos Near Me - Wheeling, West Virginia

Great food. Been coming to Wheeling for years and finally visited this place. I will definitely return.

I stumbled into this place by accident once. OH MY WOW. The color the smell, the flavor of this establishments food is absolutely amazing, and the flavor just pops. I haven't been back since, but i'm probably gonna have to.Because this review is making my mouth water and crave it all over again. On top of the delicious food, the staff or I do think the owner that waited on me was very informative, made good suggestions and set me up with the most delicious food i've had in a long time. Very nice place. Great atmosphere and friendly people is what I gathered and with the amazing food on top of it, this place should be packed every night. Ron R. read more

Was decent. I feel like this place is new and trying to gain that hipster clientele. I'm not from there but assuming this is the case. The bartender and, only can assume, one of the owners were pretty nice. I walked in and saw a sign that said philly cheese steak tacos and those are like marrying my two worlds. So wanted to try. Although not on the menu, we were advised they existed and I ordered those along with a taco named after a street in wheeling. Well, the cheese steak taco was underwhelming even though the other choice was good. Place was clean and funky decor. Liked the ease of parking on that particular night and how fast the food was. Also, the nachos to start were great. read more

At first I thought this place looked cool, the bartenders were nice and greeted us- however, the food just wasn't for me. Everything is ordered at the bar which is fine so we sat at the bar and ordered a couple diet colas. The tacos are single tacos and run around $5 depending- with various toppings, concoctions etc. the menu is pretty straight forward all things considered- and I ordered an appetizer of loaded nachos. There is an option to "load them up" which adds more jalapeños and sauces so I said sure and sipped my beverage. The nachos may have looked loaded up - but the ranch sauce was almost non-existent, and even though the beef was good - there was probably only two scoops of everything on top, and all chips to the bottom. I really think places should layer their nachos so almost every chip is addressed with toppings. Again - the meat was good just wasn't a good final execution of nachos. Ordered the philly cheese steak taco and a western sizzlin taco - which were somewhat odd. The philly cheese steak taco said it had beer cheese on it but the sauce was orange??? and tasted more like stroganoff. Was not good. Plus the steak was low grade beef stroganoff style meat. The western sizzlin taco was decent enough - but again that same meat. Didn't mind the tortillas they used, just altogether meh. Staff is very friendly but on food, that friendliness couldn't carry the meal. read more

You could taste the freshness! This place was amazing! Atmosphere was great. Service was also very good. Definitely coming back!

Great service and excellent food. The beer selection is next level! A must stop place when you're in the downtown Wheeling area.

Delicious taco! And the salad was fabulous! Service is easy. Order at the bar and voila! Out comes your food!

This is the best Taco Joint I've ever been to. The tacos are second to none with a great beer collection. It's a local bar but they make everyone feel like a local. Every member of the staff is super friendly. read more

Amazing tacos in a small bar format. You can't find many places that have authentic street tacos outside of Mexico. Can't beat the price. Had the pork belly and carnitas tacos. Pork belly tacos were . Carnitas were good too! read more

Love what this place is doing, especially in the downtown Wheeling area, the city needs some awesome places with great food and great atmosphere, and this is one of them. They have a beer especially brewed for them, cannot remember the name, but it was pretty solid. Started off with chips and salsa (both made in-house) and I was a big fan, immediately knew the grub would be good. Went for the 3-pack Tacos Campechanos and was not disappointed - great flavor, portion size for the price. They have Karaoke and live music as well - definitely dig it, next time I am in town I will be going back. read more

I love this place. I haven't tried anything that I haven't liked. The beefy frito tacos are unlike anything I've had at similar restaurants

Great food, great atmosphere, and friendly staff. As someone who travels to Mexico frequently? I can honestly say that these guys are doing Mexican food right. Loved the food. 10/10 recommend read more

Great food and service the first time we visited. Very flavorful! The second time we visited, we sat at the bar for 10 minutes and no one came out of the back to serve us. We ended up leaving. read more

We heard a lot of 'buzz' about this place so my wife & I stopped for lunch. The server seemed more interested in his cell phone than in serving us. But when the food eventually served, it was mediocre. We were even more disappointed to find out the food was over priced. Something didnt seem right the whole time we were there but it wasnt until we left and walked back to our vehicle did we realize that this place doesnt have an on site kitchen that has passed the County's Health Dept standards. They cook the food out in the alley in a truck then bring it inside to you. read more

Do not pass Taqueria 304. On our usual driving-through meal break in Wheeling, we found the spot and it did not disappoint in any shape or form. The special bahn-mi tacos with pork belly were so spot on and the loaded nachos appeased the pickiest eater in the bunch. The pollos tacos and the expertly suggested remainders were exactly what was needed. Fantastic service, very cold beer and we are back on the road with a happy crew. Thank you Taqueria 304, we will see you on the way back! read more

It's sloppy food but very tasty. Great beer selection. Lots of micro and seasonals. Daily beer and monthly specialty tacos. They were also having swag giveaways. Friendly staff and clean. Will be back. read more

Solid taco filling choices in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere - not overly loud music (thankfully!) a friendly and attentive staff and quick service. Both of our taco choices were great. I especially appreciated the fact that my shrimp tacos came with doubled tortillas so I wouldn't lose all the filling on the first bite! An excellent lunch. We will be back the next time we're in Wheeling. read more

My wife & I went there. The food is bland. Service is slow & unattentive. Atmosphere is man buns & skinny jeans. Come to find out they dont even have an onsite kitchen that meets Ohio County Health Dept Standards. The food is made out back in the alley in a broke down truck. read more

Great variety of delicious tacos & friendly service. If your nearby I recommend stopping in for a meal.

Great addition to downtown Wheeling and great street tacos! Cool setup inside and friendly staff

We came here on a Thursday at 6:30 PM and only the 2nd group of patrons. I had a couple of friends say that if you've had real tacos, you wouldn't like these. Well, it's not about "real" or "authentic" tacos at this place. This is the place to go if you want kielbasa and sauer kraut taco, or chicken parmesan on a flour tortilla, or your Thanksgiving dinner rolled up. To me, this cheapened the well-made ingredients you're being served. What was inside the tacos was delicious (with the exception of the beef and potato taco where I thought the beef was ground too fine and reminded me of the taco meat found in Lunchables), but to be honest I really really did not like it combined with the various tortillas. I'm all for some crazy tacos; I've had some very odd flavors combined with various tortillas that turned out to fabulous. I love trying weird stuff. But this just did not do it for me. The tortillas themselves were very tasty and I'd love to see more traditional tacos here, or else better blends of the "different" tacos. The Juan was my favorite, being the most traditional (except for the red sauce served on top.) The flavors of all the food were great but again did not jive well with tortillas. Also the tacos were $4 which seemed a little pricey but I guess you're getting things like chicken, kielbasa, etc. in them. If they were cheaper I might be okay with the fact that they're just "okay." I got an order of "sweet potato nuggets" for $3.50 which was an extremely disappointing order. It was a basket of sweet potato fries and was a very, very tiny order. They come in either buffalo ranch or with a sweet cinnamon yogurt sauce. We got the buffalo ranch which had buffalo sauce and since drizzled on. As far as a bar goes, there were no drink specials to draw in a crowd and no TV. Now the TV doesn't matter to me and I actually really liked that. I like going somewhere just to eat and be with friends. But as my fiancé stated, the food wouldn't bring him back and though this place has a cool vibe, he couldn't come here to watch a game with friends and wouldn't choose this bar over others. And, a TV would keep people in the bar longer. Again not a huge deal to me because I respect an establishment who would maybe rather their patrons visit with each other and not stare at another electronic device. I think this place will continue to be a big hit in the valley (I mean... it's very OV) and I urge people to try it for themselves and not just take my word for it. I'm disappointed, and probably will not return but truly would love to see this place thrive. Oh and I also think a rotating menu would help... new tacos every so often might change my mind about going back to try things. read more

This place is a must. They are not afraid of putting whatever they want on a taco as long as they work. And of three I had, they all work. Get over your traditional lettuce and tomato gringo taco and give these guys a try. Killer beer, great lunch specials. The valley needs more of this. read more

Wow just went here on May 7th. We had nachos with ground beef and they were the best nachos I have ever had!! Tacoholix- Tremendously excited to see a new restaurant, with this format in Wheeling. I highly recommend! The Good: Inventive Tacos referencing comfort foods, with great flavors and fresh ingredients. Wheeling Brewkeepers exclusively in tap, the best beers in WV to be sure, and maybe surpassing regional, offerings from Pittsburgh- My favorite is Deathwind. Good staff, friendly, and accommodating. The Bad: (1) No Chips and Salsa- You need Chips and Salsa, I will pay for Chips and Salsa (Owners would do well to visit Casa Reina in PIT, or Nada in Columbus for some pro-tips). (2) No waitresses... either set up an ordering position at the bar (not recommended), or designate a waitress for the tables in the back. All in all, great place, hope to see it grow, refine itself and thrive! read more

Stoked to see up and coming restaurants in Wheeling (Love Tito's and Vagabond). Keep refining and killin it! Loved my tacos I had the Beale Street. Nice and smokey! I also had the Anchor Bar, spicy with the heat I was looking for! House made taco sauce was good. I recommend a mild, medium and hot so you can customize your taco. We LOVE spicey food!!!! Drinks: I'm not a beer drinker so nice to see they have wine. :) However, for the beer drinkers they have Brewkeepers! Those guyz are awesome and they are killin it in the Wheeling and surrounding markets. Way to support each other Wheeling!!!! Love it! I would have been happy to spend more money if there were appetizers. Even as simple as chips and salsa (the homemade taco sauce rocked!) so we know you can do it!!! Lastly, there we quite a few kiddos in the restaurant (including mine). Any type of kid friendly food. Even a plain taco offering or chicken and cheese quesadilla would be nice. Super accomodating as they made us a plain beef and chicken taco on a soft flour tortilla, but there were a few kiddos there so embrace the youngsters!! We will for sure go back again. Stay with it and work hard it will pay off! We will be telling our friends! read more

Just drove into town late on a Saturday and they were open. Cool atmosphere, small place, good music, great beer, but MAN!! You have to try the Frito Pie tacos!! I asked the guy next to me what was good and he recommended them. Incredible tacos!! It's like a Frito Pie in a soft tortilla shell. I ate two, couldn't finish the third one. Highly recommend this place to anyone traveling through Wheeling West Virginia!! read more

It was ok. The flavors are unique, but a little off. They should spend some time working on the recipes. It has potential, but if they stick with the "we're different and you just don't get it" vibe, I don't think they'll make it. read more

How this place doesn't rate 5 stars is beyond me. Got the lucky pig, and it was AWESOME! The service wasn't great, but as long as they brought me another lucky pig they could have face punched me and I would still have given them 5 stars. If you are in wheeling it is a must stop.
