Amazing (and beautiful) almond Tres Leches cake
Ashlee D.

Actually found this place here on Yelp while casually looking for somewhere to eat after a day of shopping and it was phenomenal! We just moved back home after living in Charlotte for 14 years & having tons of restaurants around, so we were a little skeptical at first but the food here was 10x better than any Mexican restaurant we ever ate at in Charlotte. Highly recommend the ACP with added pico & avocado. The salsa was perfect, the margarita was delightful (and as big as my head), and after I told the waitress we were celebrating my birthday she talked me into trying their Tres Leches cake and it was DELICIOUS. All the staff was super helpful and kind as well. 10/10, we will definitely be back!

Ok. The salsa was pretty standard. Cheese dip was ok. Had several different tacos and they were all good. Nice little place. Nothing was bad and nothing was outstanding. Tacos were $1 but were also super small. All in all a nice average experience. I'd come back, but I won't make it a point to. Oh yea, and there is a fountain.

The food is great but let's talk about dessert first. The Tres Leches Cakes are absolutely divine, so much we ordered two whole ones for our thanksgiving dinner. Back to the typical food you think of when you go to a Mexican restaurant, the portions are plentiful and prices good. One thing I have come to expect at Mexican restaurants though is a lunch menu which they don't have. Also, I love mushroom quesadillas and they don't have mushroom, but that's fine, there's so much more to enjoy here.

Real deal, folks. Real deal. Four of us showed up to eat, and boy, did we! Started out with fresh chips and salsa. Got some spinach dip. The chips are fresh, and so was the salsa. We got refill chips straight out of the fryer, and they were grease free. Then we placed our orders. Sopes! They have sopes! The thick, handmade tortilla was crisped by the grill on the outside, and soft in the center. The beans were awesome, and believe every word you hear about the Al Pastor: beautifully seasoned and tender. I had two Mexican style tacos: one chicken, the other with Carne Asada. Both nicely done. My husband got the chicken mole. How many times do you hear people remark on how good the rice and beans are? They are really good. The chicken was shredded, moist, and tasty. The mole was super flavorful, and lighter than most dark moles I've seen. Passed the mole challenge. Check. My daughter got the carnitas, and said the same thing about the rice and beans. Definitely not an afterthought here. The pork was perfectly seasoned and tender. Generous serving. My son-in-law got the torta with Carne Asada. It.Was.Huge. He's a big guy, and he polished it off with gusto. We all shared some guacamole, which was very tasty as well. We finished it out with one slice of chocoflan. What's a chocoflan, you ask? Well, it's a moist chocolate cake with a layer of flan on top. Win! Win! The only thing this place lacks is a skyhook to hoist us out of the booth when we were done. When all was said and done, the check came out to a tad over $56. I hope this place takes off like gangbusters, because when we come back at Christmas time to visit, I think I want to try one of the caldos.

Fajitas and side....very good!

This place is wonderful! Great food and our server was so kind and informative. The fajitas were filling and best received beans I've had. And I LOVE retried beans!! I highly recommend this hidden gem in Nutter Fort, WV!!

Try them all.

**Restaurant Review: El Rey, Bridgeport, WV**…read more El Rey in Bridgeport, WV, is the kind of place that sneaks up on you. Tucked away in a strip mall, it doesn't scream for attention, but once you step inside, the buzz of conversation and the scent of something sizzling on the grill hits you like a freight train. It's clear you're about to experience something real. I ordered the "Fajita Canada," and damn, what a plate. It arrives at your table like a scene from a movie--seafood and vegetables still crackling on the hot skillet, steam rising, the promise of a meal that's about to wreck your sense of what dinner should be. The seafood was fresh, plucked from wherever it could be found, and the vegetables had that crispness you only get from knowing your way around a flame. The flavors are bold, unapologetic, and honest--exactly what you want from a place like this. It's not about presentation or pretense; it's about the food and the people who make it. The service is no-nonsense, and the space feels like a refuge from the bland sameness you find in so many places these days. If you're in Bridgeport and looking for something that's more than just a meal, head to El Rey. Order the Fajita Canada. Let it take you somewhere far from the ordinary.

Not great, But good! I do love the sauce but their weiners are lacking! I do love the wet bun buts not from steaming its from the brine water the weiners were in! You have a flat top! Why aren't they grilled to order?? Fries are great! Not a fan of the purple cabbage coleslaw slaw the color is a big turnoff!! I tasted too much vinegar!@ but I will give it a 3 out of 5 Loved the vintage decor and that you kept it original and old school! Very upset that 1 hot dog with chili mustard onions w slaw & kraut, 2 hot dogs w chili mustard onions and cheese, small fries, a fountain pop and one draft small 8oz glass cost me $29 w taxes! that's freaking sad!! Your special 2 dogs w Fries $8 w chili onion and mustard so by adding cheese to 2 that should have been $2 extra, one beer $3, one fountain soda $3 and one hotdog $2.50 then another $2 for the slaw plus Kraft totals $20.50 plus taxes so should have been about $23 not $29...I was over charged $6!!! Stolen money@@ you never gave me an itemed receipt...she holders how much Rick...you throw some numbers out and I paid for someone else's ticket too!! I'm not coming back! I don't recommend you to go there and get ripped off!!
