Back again after a long hiatus! Love Muriale's ever since my first visit as a 20 something!…read moreStopped by on a drive from Pittsburgh with my sister on our way back to Charlotte and Greenville, SC. I talked into the meatball hoagie with a house salad with the house dressing. Can't wait to eat.... The house salad and Italian bread with soft butter were outstanding. By the number of ingredients, that salad was made with a lot of love. Waiting on the meatball hoagie.... The mixed peppers on the meatball with a large mound of melted mozzarella cheese. The sandwich was large enough that it was a struggle to get my mouth around it to take a bite and that's a good thing! The meatballs and red sauce were as good as ever. My sister had never been to Muriale's so she became an instant fan. After 8 years away this meal was great. Don't ever change and keep it classy. Thank you!

As we're temporarily home bound, a friend brought us delicious takeout from Muriale's. We shared two somewhat-similar and tasty entrees, (1) Eggplant Parmesan ($21) featuring lightly breaded and fried eggplant, fresh mozzarella, ricotta, house-made marinara sauce and (2) Veal Parmesan ($24), with lighted breaded and fried veal, fresh mozzarella, and house-made meat sauce. Both entrees were served with a side of spaghetti and tomato-based sauce, house salad, and garlic toast. Note that the house salad was excellent, consisting of fresh greens, onions, cheese, olives, tomatoes, pepperoni, and roasted red peppers. We chose the balsamic vinaigrette as our dressing. (Side salads in the Fairmont/Clarksburg area are often only iceberg lettuce and a shaving or two of carrots). Our initial thought was that the prices were a bit on the higher side. However, in seeing the high quality of the food, the generous portions, and the "extras" that were included (salad, garlic toast, etc.), we feel that it was a good value.

Long time customer of Caporella's, dating back to their days in Perryopolis…read more My wife and I dined this week at dinner time for the first time in a few years, it will probably be our last. The menu is the same, massive menu with a list of perhaps 10 different specials. Immediately a red flag, you can't have that many freshly prepared items for a dinner service and have most of it be frozen food service products or pre-made and frozen ahead of time. The bread they give, while hot and warm, is undoubtedly a food service product that isn't real bread, it can't be, and that's an easy one. My wife found a hair baked into her stuffed shrimp, and i ordered chicken Marsala and had to choose a side "pasta, fries, baked potatoes, etc", which is odd. Pair the dish with sides to make it interesting. It just felt lazy and boring, very much turning into a boomer restaurant where the deal is "big portions" and not "th highest quality and vibrant food we can make". The food was good, not great, and for the price tag I'd have expected fresh, all natural, ingredient shining food, but what we got was hot, mediocre flavor wise, and food that has low self esteem. Not to mention our salad lettuce was legitimately brown wilted, very visible from the plater/server prospective, but they sent it out anyway. This may be the reason both my wife and I's guts were wrenching all night, as it was the only common thing we ate. I wish this all weren't true, I love this building and my history with the restaurant, but never again. If you want fresh, from scratch, from fresh REAL ingredients with an amazing menu, check our Jaffre's Tuscan Table in Mt Pleasant, you will not be disappointed. Even my wife said that we need to hit up Tuscan Table to cleanse us from Caporellas. I wish them the best, but we're breaking up.

We have tried many times over the years to get to the new location, but it is so difficult. Especially when you have kids and family events, and have to plan two weeks ahead in order to get them to give a reservation. Be forewarned, make a reservation! You cannot just decide to go to dinner one night and choose Caporella's....at least we've never been able to. For our visit this time, we really liked the location. It is definitely beautiful. Our service was good, as well, while we were there. It was just the wife and I with our youngest, since she was a last minute add-on to our planned date night, and the server was great with her. Food wise, some things impressed, some did not. I do not feel the quality of what I had this time matched the stellar experiences I used to have at the old location. The price tag on few things, as well, didn't measure up. Let me explain. For appetizers: The Beans and Greens were still literally the BEST I have ever had in my life. Their version still stands for what I measure all others against. The Cheese Logs were good albeit crazy for the price, and breading was super heavy on them. For Soups: We had to try the French Onion Soup, as we always do anywhere. It was..eh. Reminded me of a beef vegetable soup with some onions thrown in. There was no depth to it like a stellar FOS would have. It reminded me of something that was just thrown together really quickly. For Dinners: I had the Chicken Parm. Chicken was good, but I really did not like the spaghetti sauce. I'm picky, and it probably is just "me". I don't like tomato-y canned tasting acidic marinara. The wife had their version of a Chicken Piccata, her usual go to, and hated it. She took it home, and I ate it for lunch the next day. It was very sour. Daughter had gnocchi, and liked it. For Desserts: A spumoni, which was great, and a Tiramisu. HATED THAT. I was under the impression it was going to be Tiramisu....not a dry as a bone tiramisu-flavored cake. Was the first time you would hear me say I was very thankful for getting such a small piece. Would NOT get again. Overall, I am not sure if I will be going out of my way to go back again for anything other than those Beans n' Greens. They really are amazing. But, for anything else, the price tag and what we received this time was not going to draw us back again vs. other options in the area, compounded with how difficult it is for us to get there with the reservation-must-have. It's good, but not THAT good.

I was quite hesitant about trying this restaurant after reading some of the negative reviews,…read morehowever, I was looking for a non-fast food type of sit down homestyle meal. I went at 7 PM on a Friday night and the seated right away. The white staff was very friendly and took my drink order as soon as I sat down. They returned quickly with the bread basket and took my order for the homemade lasagna. The entrée came with a small side salad, which had a very tasty and simple house vinaigrette,, the only thing was that the salad was composed of just lettuce and tomato, no onions, no peppers no carrots no olives no cheese . It didn't take very long for the entrée to come out and even though the lasagna was not very thick as it usually is, it was quite tasty. The prices were quite fair with the entrée salad, bread and butter and soft drink coming to a total of $20 even including tax and tip. I would definitely come back here if I was in the area again as the food was very good it was very reasonably priced, and I had no issues with the service, even paying the bill was a breeze with a QR code on the receipt .

They've come a long way, and backslid. We were greeted by a very nice waitress who was also VERY new at the job. No one was shadowing her. I was with a group of four others, and our lone appetizer showed up promptly. Then the wheels fell off the bus. Three out of four of our entrees showed up. No salads. In the meantime, two other employees, one of them I presumed to be the MOD, were busy cleaning up after a large party, and using a sweeper to clean up under the table. Very noisy and disruptive. A broom would have worked just fine. I called over the man I presumed to be the MOD, and pointed out that our table mate had not received her entree, and we still had not gotten salads and bread. That was corrected. Our friend's entree had gummy, overcooked pasta, and a gummy Alfredo sauce. Clearly sat under a heat lamp for a while, and probably took a spin in the microwave. Anything with a red sauce was okay. The appetizer was delicious. Anything without a red sauce was not okay. It was pretty sad. In the past, I have enjoyed delicious meals at Minard's. Our post-Christmas family meals used to be epic. This was anything but. Why am I being so picky? I spent 15 years working front of the house, kitchen, and bar. Something is VERY wrong when the basics are completely ignored, and the customer suffers for it. Something is rotten at Minard's, and I feel that this place may go out of business before any of this is corrected.
