This is the best place in Wheeling to go for pierogies!! It's also the place to go if you feel like dancing on the weekend! Definitely one of my favorite places! read more

Went here after my cousins graduation. The wait staff was friendly and the atmosphere was enjoyable. I unfortunately can't give it to good a review as we had to wait approximately 2 hours for our food as the kitchen was incredibly backed up. This is understandable as the place was completely full from others from this graduation but the wait made the experience much less enjoyable. I had the chicken tenders, my sister had wings and pirogi and my mom had salmon. We all liked our meals, they were well cooked and well seasoned. read more

First time there. The four of us had great choice of beverages. Appetizers were excellent. Had the Italian logs..basically pizza egg roll, and zucchini. Two had flameburger, awesome!! Steak wrap and the melt. Gotta go back, as there are so many other great choices. Large deck out back to sit. Its 5 minutes from market district. Plenty of off road parking. Our server was right on top everything. Owner came over to check on us. We just had a great relaxing afternoon. read more

Terrible service, overpriced Mother's Day buffett with everything floating in butter. The bartenders are the worst. Zero customer service skills with major attitudes. Bartender attitudes are less than acceptable which totally bogus when you have folks who will tip good based on good service. read more

I chose Generations because eod close proximity to my hotel and I am glad I did. It might have been that I spent 8 hours in my car, the 30deg weather or the $1.50 pints but I was very impressed. The burger I ordered tasted great and I am a sucker for house made chips. It was cooked great and just the right size. Oh, and did I mention $1.50. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were great. I would definitely recommend this place and would be a repeat customer. read more

Generations Restaurant & Pub - Great burger and $1.50 pint! - New American Near Me - Wheeling, West Virginia

Outstanding fish & chips ... and really nice people. Driving cross-country from Philly to Colorado, we stopped at Generations mostly because it wasn't Cracker Barrel or Denny's. What a pleasant surprise. We sat on a covered deck above the Little Wheeling Creek, sipped an excellent local ale, and had outstanding fish & chips. Crispy hand-cut fries, abundant fish, and the restaurant's in-house breading recipe. All served by a very friendly, efficient staff. read more

Waited a long time to get food. Ordered the chicken parmesan, salad was brown and wilted, the chicken looked and tasted like it came from a tv dinner, and the pasta sauce tasted like it was straight out of a stewed tomato can. Horrible food. Never got to speak with a manager after the waitress said she was getting one. I recommend not eating here. read more

Friendly service and great food. I wish we could have sat outside it looked really nice but it was full. They have a very diverse menu that satisfied our varied dietary inclinations. I had the Peirogies, traditional style sautéed in butter and onions. They were delicious! I got the sour cream and their Buffalo garlic parmesan sauce on the side which complemented it really well. All the ingredients were super fresh in all our meals. read more

$23 for half a rack of ribs, 2 sides, a beer, and pierogis. It's a charming place and the food was very good. I'd definitely go back and recommend it. read more

Service at the bar needs tremendous improvement. Staff are more interested with their phones than customers and seemed genuinely annoyed when asked for a drink. read more

Great atmosphereAwesome people Good food #Generationspub #buzzybooth

We stopped here only by the Yelp review I had seen...so glad we did! Staff was very friendly...atmosphere was fun and laid back..and food/prices were wonderful!!! My boyfriend and I both had salads, they were HUGE and he loved the mesquite ranch dressing My mom got a sandwich...was chicken with portobello mushrooms...she said it was fantastic! We also had the jalapeño cheese balls for appetizer... They were very tasty and good for a starter! I wish it was a bit closer to where I live...would love to try more on the menu. I highly recommend for a casual summer night for drinks, food and chatting! read more

I've been coming to Generations since it was the swing club in the 90s (and before) and it may be different than what it used to be, but it's still just as good, if not better. After 100 years the place has changed a lot, you walk around it and see pictures from all the generations that have run and grown up there, it's nice to see such a great family feel to restaurant/bar. The place has nice country shows and draws crowds of all ages. In all, it's a great piece of WV and wheeling history. When I visit from Texas I make sure to visit Generations along with the delicious Dicarlos and Coleman's. The only thing I wish the bar had was some shiner bock and landshark other than that it's one of the pillars of wheeling and I hope it lasts another 100 years! read more

The food is good during the day and great place for nightlife on Friday and Saturday. Bar is a little small but bartenders are pretty quick. Highly recommend pierogi and wing night! Treat yourself to the buffalo chicken dip too! read more

The atmosphere sitting outside was nice, but our food was below par from the beginning. The zucchini planks were not much more then heavy breading. Our salads came almost immediately after the appetizer and it had a lot of brown lettuce. And within 2 minutes, or entrees showed up. The server took them back but they were held under a heat lamp while we ate our salads and then served half cold. The toast was dry and cold, and the new York strip tasted old. This is a no go for us. read more

As good as it gets, the pizza rocked and a couple of IPA's to wash it down not to be missed.

I'm an oil and gas worker from out of town and I'm extremely displeased with the way I was treated. Sat down with 2 of my good friends and the minute we paid and walked out, our waitress' boyfriend decided to come out and confront us due to him being intoxicated. Is this gonna happen every time I decide to eat here? I'd prefer to eat and not get threatened. read more

Stopped in while traveling. Very good drinks and food. Very good prices. Nice atmosphere and employees

This is a good place to go if you want entertainment on the weekends an great food during the week, the bar hardly disappoints unless it becomes too packed to get a drink. read more

I've been here twice and both times were great experiences! It's a classic bar experience, but a bigger restaurant so it is not as crowded. They have a large menu selection, and amazing Buffalo Chicken Dip. I believe I had a burger both times I was there- their fries are very good! The service is also fast. read more

Our hotel recommended this place so since it was close we decided to try it out. Atmosphere ok, a little dark inside. Waited quite a while for our waiter to show up. Mu husband ordered a Rueben sandwich and was brought a Rueben burger which was undercooked so he sent it back and asked for a Rueben sandwich. When it finally came it came with chips not with the fries he had ordered. I had chili and onion rings which were good. Overall food ok. Staff more interested in visiting each other than service. I would not return. J from Louisville, KY read more

TERRIBLE. Some of the worst service I've ever had. Took an hour to get our food (salad), never had any refills and over 20 minutes to get a beer. We walked our glasses to the bar 2x just to get our water refilled. read more

I stopped in for a drink while in town for business. Cool old bar with some true blue collar hometown mojo. Definitely seemed to have an older customer base in the afternoon I stopped in. I had a Bloody Mary, which quite possibly, was one of the best I've ever had. It was on the spicy side, but very well done. I ordered the appetizer combo plate. The chicken wings were delicious. Almost had a deep fried texture to them. The perogies had an interesting twist with the BBQ sauce on them. read more

My fiance and our two young children stopped in a month ago before dinner rush and were seated indoors at a round table. We waited for our waitress for a little over 15 minutes (which is an exceptional time for me to give someone as I have been a waitress before). To no avail, no one showed up to our table, many waitresses passing our table, our hostess who may have been at fault with communication was in our line of vision about 10 ft away, our children were growing impatient and were hungry so we packed up. I let the hostess know we haven't been seen and that we were leaving. She was apologetic of course but it wasn't enough to keep us! You've got to do your job or people will leave! read more

I have been here on two different occasions. Both times the waitresses were fantastic. The shrimp appetizer was pretty good, as were the loaded tots and fried pickles. The buffalo garlic parmesan wings could have been a little spicier, but they had a great taste. They have a huge selection of ales and beers, as well as mixed drinks. This is also a great place to come if you a to catch a game. read more

On our way to Oglebay Resort we stopped at Generations Restaurant for lunch. We had a pleasant experience sitting on the porch while we ate lunch. My husband and I both had sandwiches, which were very tasty. The fries were awesome.... especially with malt vinegar! Our waitress was very friendly! Glad we stopped there for lunch! read more

Was looking for a good place to stop in Wheeling, this seemed to be the best place per yelp and I can't disagree. Pierogies hit the spot (and I've had my share of pierogies in Chicago). Steak wrap was good, but the pierogies are definitely better. Two things really stood out is the afternoon happy hour - we were there on a Sunday afternoon so all draft beers were half off - score! And then the patio overlooking the river - very tranquil. Will come back next time in Wheeling! read more

Had the wings and chipotle wrap. Phenomenal. Never had a bad experience I would highly recommend generations

I'm giving this place 5 starts for many reasons. First, I would like to point out that the location and space of this place is awesome. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor is huge with many types of tables. The outdoor is a good size with a beautiful stream in the back. Secondly, the servers are amazing, they went above and beyond and has no issues when asking for an extra sauce or asking about things on the menu. Third, the food is delicious and reasonably priced for what you receive(good size portions not too small or too big). I choose the zucchini basket and lazyman fajitas(I think that's what the fajita was called) but both were fabulous. Fourth, I'm from Buffalo, NY and this place had franks hot sauce! How killer! Lastly, the overall atmosphere was wonderful. If I pass through Wheeling again or know someone who's going through I'm recommending this place! read more

As far as taste, it was not completely awful, I will say my favorite was the fries, hard to mess that up, but as for the service and quality of food, the service was not A game, asking multiple times for ranch dressing, and then getting my order wrong, the soup tasted concentrated and the food was so salted I was afraid I'd go into a heart attack right at the table, Im passing through town and come to wheeling frequently but I will not be returning to the "G-spot" and whatever you do, don't go to the bathrooms. read more

My staff and I had a great time eating lunch with organizers of the Wheeling Veterans Day 10K Run at Generations Restaurant and Pub. We loved the casual atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. The food was absolutely incredible. I would recommend Generations' award-winning wings or chili. I look forward to coming back to Generations next time I'm in Wheeling. read more

1/2 Rack of Rib dinner for $12- Can't beat it. Also, excellent outdoor deck and beer prices are reasonable read more

Awesome specials! Solid bar food, good beer selection, and friendly staff. Will definitely be back next time we are driving through.

Everything I've said before remains true this is about as good as it gets in Wheeling. I have yet to experience a bad dish here. The busy nights are Tuesdays for trivia and Saturday nights for bands. Yes this place just got bigger and better for watching bands. With the expansion there are even more TVs to watch any sporting event. This is a place for all ages and seems it will last through the ages as well. read more

Comfortable atmosphere with good food. Stopped in while on a motorcycle trip and were very pleasantly surprised. Nice outdoor patio, plenty of indoor seating. The skylights are large enough that the lights were off inside, giving the place a relaxed vibe. Wings were phenomenal and the Sierra Steak sandwich hit the spot and was perfect to split. read more

We had a large group of about 25 people on a Friday night during the NCAA basketball championship. They gave us our own room and we had a fantastic server. She took care of the entire group. The food was great. I recommend the calamari, the fried zucchini slices and the pita wedges with chicken barbecue dip. There was also a DJ that night so we had a great time dancing. read more

Very nice establishment. Menu has plenty of options for everyone. Suitable menu and atmosphere for all ages. Would definitely visit again when I'm in the area. Place has been a family business for 4 generations. We actually had an older gentleman come to are table and give my 3 girls candy. We asked our waitress about a picture beside our table and come to find out he is the boy in the picture with his dad at the bar. Pretty amazing tradition. read more

I stopped here one day with my mother for lunch because we've never been. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich which was glorious after you took off some of the bleu cheese or else it felt like just biting into a mound of spicy bleu cheese. Blegh. She ordered a salad, which was huge and filling for her. The handmade chips were delicious and I loved them. I wish they sold them individually packaged! I ordered a side of them and they came out hot and fresh. I've been here a few times for birthday parties and showers and everything I've had at those events was great. For an app I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip which is LOADED with artichoke but I didn't mind. I loved that as well, especially with the warm chips it came with. If you're looking for a good place to grab lunch or dinner, you've found it! read more

For a restaurant who's featured item is pierogis, they tasted horrible. My wife ordered buffalo chicken during the same visit which came out cold and not fully cooked. read more

I'm giving two stars because the food was not bad. The service on the other hand was not very good. The first indication this was not going well was when the waitress had to bring everyone water because the bar could not get the drinks out. It went downhill from there with the food taking 50 minutes to come out after we ordered. We never got updated on the status of the food and I finally had to go to the hostess station and ask for a manager because no one was coming around to check on us. They ended up comping our drinks but it would have been nice to have the waitress or better yet the manager come over with an update before I went to them. read more
