Outstanding date night prior to a show at the Orpheum. We set up a reservation online and we're seated promptly. We took a visit to the indoor garden downstairs while our appetizer was being prepared. Strongly recommend the Brussel sprouts, flavor was so perfect and they well cooked. My wife loved the miso salmon while I had the pork shank. The shank was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of heat. Will definitely be going back! read more

Party of 10 Tried Gather for the first time last night. Did not disappoint. There were 10 of us, we were seated in a private room (so nice to have a great conversation). Sam was our wait staff for the night and was amazing. The manager came in twice to check on us. I chose this place because I love pork buns. The salmon was so good. One of our friends got the pork shank and said the best ever. We will go back, next time I hope to leave room for the donut holes. A bit pricey compared to chain restaurants but so worth the money. I got the Becky and my friend got the Caliente- both were spot on. We shared the Mediterranean Burratta, had caesar salads and then shared the Bone Marrow Rice with pork belly as an entre. The Mediterranean Burratta was like something I have never had before and Id order it a million times over. I had a delicious burger with their homegrown salad greens (got to glance at the garden downstairs afterwards). The staff was very diligent in checking for my allergy issues, which I appreciated. Been hearing great things about Gather so I decided to give it a try myself! The food and cocktails were both excellent. I got the truffle pasta, but I think I liked my friend's pork shank even better! You MUST go in the basement and check out their vertical garden. They grow all their own herbs down there and it looks so cool. read more

Part of a large group. The staff were fantastic and accomodationg to separate checks (big plus for that since we were all on expense accounts). It is in the "Old Market" which, without knowing the actual history, seems to be a gentrified area that kept cobble stone roads as a marketing concept. The food was decent (I had the caesar salad and fried chicken). The Caeser was unique (cherry tomatoes and bread crumbs), but was overall a decent salad. The fried chicken was good as well, but sitting on a bed of mac and cheese took away from the crispiness. The mac and cheese was fine. No real complaints and overall decent food. A little on the pricey side for what it was ($36). I'd go again, but probably not if I were paying. . . read more

I have been wanting to go to Gather since I first became aware of their opening. I strongly recommend reservations as it is a popular, new establishment. It has a nice ambience, perfect for date night, business dinners, or a night out with friends. The staff was very attentive and helpful. I was told they grow a lot of their produce below the restaurant and that is why their salads are so great. I didn't bother with salads, because I had my eyes on two of my favor appetizers (charcuterie and burrata)! The burrata came out quickly with olive oil, fresh basil, hummus, and naan (gorgeous presentation). We also had a small charcuterie app, which is one meat, two types of cheese, hummus, and an assortment of accoutrements. The one drawback of the charcuterie was that I really wanted some sort of fabulous stone ground mustard, but I really only had the hummus to top it off. For the mains, my friend had the fried chicken (the name doesn't do it justice). It's on top of gooey Mac and cheese, drizzled with hot sauce, and topped with shredded pickles. I would get that next time! I had the elk bolognese, which was not bad. I was a little underwhelmed with it. I felt like maybe the house made noodles were maybe a little over cooked or over worked ( not sure which). I thought maybe there would be more of a standout flavor from the meat, but it was just a ground meat, average taste. My favorite cocktail out of the caliente wey and the cilantro margarita was hands-down the cilantro margarita. You may think a cilantro margarita sounds unappealing or overpowering. No way! It is so refreshing, not at all too much cilantro flavor. It is fresh the way a cucumber vodka is. I could have a pitcher of that margarita! so there you have it. Go to gather! read more

Nicely located in the Heart of the Old Market, Omaha. Reasonably priced menu. We tried to go there after the Theater about 10 PM on a Friday, they were closed. They said they closed on weekends at 9_00; Went there later, about 6 PM, all tables filled, Sat at the bar, service not very good. You had to wait a pretty long time to get an order in, then after you finally were served, bar wait staff disappeared, and had to wait and wait, we don't know where they went, but did not acknowledge customers sitting at the bar. read more

What a fantastic experience! Tony, the General Manager, was gracious and knowledgeable, and went out of his way to ensure our experience was top-notch! Sam, our waiter, was wonderful. We loved our tour of the back patio and basement, and learned so much from the Grower. We loved her passion and enjoyed her showing us the rock substance (like a sponge) that the use to grow the plants. We had amazing food (started with the Brussels sprouts and pork buns, and tried various entrees: salmon, pork shank, Udon noodles with shrimp, sea scallops) and tried several of the tasty cocktails. We loved that Tony treated our table to dessert for my birthday, and the blueberry cheesecake was DIVINE! Omaha was our stop on the way west. We love dining in the Market District and Gather is a hot spot. We ate at the bar and Bailey, the bartender, set the tone for a great night. She went above and beyond! As a vegan, I appreciate restaurants that serve up a few options so I can dine with my non-vegan friends and family. Gather has a few options in veggie side dishes, salads and even a vegan noodle dish. My suggestion would be to offer a vegan protein on the noodles like grilled tofu, edamame, chickpeas, or seitan. The mushroom toast and tar tare are amazing a close second is the Burratta and the pork buns. I had the fried chicken which had a a super crispy crust and creamy cheesey macaroni and cheese. My husband had the elk Bolognese which was not gamey but was tasty. The miso salmon was a bit salty but was balanced out with tart cherries. My dad and bro had the waygu with fried rice. A friend and i went there this weekend and the atmosphere was great. We went below to do the essential selfie with the shrubbery. Its in the old market, so the feel is spot on and the wait staff were excellent. We ordered a couple of regulars drinks that were hard to screw up (crown and coke and Old fashioned), so nothing really to add there. The only take away from it being 5 star is the price point for the salmon at 35 bucks. I think it should have been more reasonable than that. That aside, its worth the visit. read more

arrived at 5:15 on a tuesday for happy hour! would definitely recommend a reservation, as by 6 the restaurant was filling quickly. we sat at the bar and had a couple cocktails (old fashioned, gimlet, tom collins) for $6 each, all fantastic and made so well. ordered the frites and bone marrow fried rice, both were delicious and generously sized for being a happy hour starter. i finished with the chocolate torte, perfect size for one person who didn't eat a lot, definitely a great dessert for two that did ! very nice and warm ambiance. we can't wait to come back for a "just because" dinner or a special occasion to try what's on the dinner menu!! read more

Gather is a nice new edition to the Omaha restaurant scene. Six of us came here for dinner. The service was pleasant and efficient. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and a robust charcuterie board. I ordered the salmon and it was very good. My husband got the veggie burger with a mountain of fries...literally a mountain, they were enough for the entire table. We ended the night with cheesecake and torte, both good. I will plan to return to this pleasant eatery. read more

The food is a unique twist on things. I had the fried chicken with macaroni and cheese, and my husband had the elk bolognese. He loved his meal. Mine was very good. The chocolate torte we split at the end was fabulous... the best part. We visited the hydroponic farm in the basement, which is neat. Now for the cons... I made reservations a month ago and said it was a special occasion meal, and we still got what has to be the worst table in the place - across from the kitchen doors in the walkway between the front and back of the restaurant. I would never accept this table again. You will be constantly distracted by the staff working if you sit here, FYI. Also, our server was subpar. We ordered brussel sprouts as an app, and they never came. She never acknowledged that she forgot, either. She rarely checked on us, and when she did come by to take our dessert order, she was holding a stack of dirty dishes from another table (so unappealing). Now, we acknowledge that she had dirty dishes because they must be understaffed with bussers. However, the gentleman serving the next table over also bussed his own tables but still checked on his customers at least 3 times as much as our server. We'll chalk up the server experience to "luck of the draw" on who we got... same with the table location... and we will try Gather again in hopes for a 5 star experience next time. Was there with my wife and nephew for dinner on Friday. Appetizers were good . Dinner took 75 minutes to get our entrees. Chicken was street food like .
