We made a reservation for 5:15pm the Friday of a huge tournament weekend. We were seated immediately and received our appetizer within five minutes of ordering. The food was delicious. The Brussels sprouts were crispy and flavorful and the salmon was cooked to perfection. The hydroponic garden below the restaurant provides fresh greens for the meals. We will be back! Visited for the first time for the New Years prix fixe dinner - and absolutely loved every part of the experience. The food and drinks were fantastic- there was a tomato bisque that nearly caused me to lick the plate; the service was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being overly present; and it was fun to see the fresh vertical gardens growing on the lower levels. First, I want to commend the staff at this place. With so many restaurants being short staffed right now and not able to delivering very good service, that was NOT an issue at Gather. My husband and I brought our two kids, ages 7 and 8 with us. One of my kids says "all the food was delicious!" I agree. From the kids menu, one had chicken tenders and a great mac and cheese, and the other ordered steak and salad (also on the kids menu!) Usually it's hard to get them to eat everything, but here they practically licked their plates clean. The adults had pork buns, citrus and beet salad, bone marrow fried rice, and elk bolognese. Random plates but it was hard to choose so we shared it all. Everything was all so good and prepared perfectly. Dessert was pretty good too- we tried a few things and I liked the blueberry cheesecake the best. The server and manager checked on us frequently to make sure we were doing well and had what we needed. Great place to bring kids old enough to sit through a meal as it was packed and loud enough on a Saturday evening to drown out kid noise. We will be back when in Omaha again. read more

My husband and I are from out of town. We had planned on a nice dinner for our last night in town and spent a really long time trying to find the right place to go since.... we have no idea what the good restaurants are so we just trust the reviews of the people lol. We made reservations, got there on time, were sat down right way. Then we waited. And waited. People cleared out, there were like... maybe three other tables left in our section, and there wasn't a server in sight. We sat there for quite a while waiting for at least water, but eventually gave up when there was not a soul in sight but the guy busing a table in our section. So we walked out and now we have to go back to our hotel empty handed and not having eaten dinner because everywhere else is either completely full or closed, considering it's a super busy Memorial Day weekend. So no, I absolutely would not recommend this place. Pretty much ruined our dinner plans real quick. Thanks guys. read more

Was a new place we saw when here walking through before a concert last week. Always enjoy fresh local foods and the unique twists to menu and Gather did not disappoint. I had the farro fig salad (wonderful blend of flavors and textures) and the scallops (they were huge!) Hubby had Elk. He likes meat and pasta dishes so good choice. Had the chocolate mousse tort for dessert! All very good. Our server, Grace, did an excellent job describing the dishes (and pics on Yelp helped a lot!) and wines. This is a unique restaurant. Near the open kitchen was an array of fresh herbs growing in a hydroponic system. I had the bolognese, which was good but the pasta, which was freshly made, could have either been a tad thinner or cooked just a little bit more. Downstairs you can see a whole hydroponic "garden" which is very interesting and worth a visit. It's an impressive display. The food was good, but the service was exceedingly poor. From the moment we walked in, we felt uncomfortable and rushed by our waitress. She seemed annoyed by our decision not to order drinks, and before we even received our appetizer we were asked 2-3 times to place an order for our entrees. We were not initially concerned with a wait for our food, we were on a date and wanted to enjoy the experience. But our waitress kept bluntly repeating that there were "other big tables being seated soon" and that we should "place our order now". Soon after we placed our order, the waitress brought out two appetizers (we only ordered one) and made a rude comment when we explained we only ordered one, and did not want to keep the second. Soon after finishing our appetizer our entree arrived. Both dishes were good. During the meal I got up to use the restroom, and returned to find that our waitress had taken my unfinished plate, further rushing us along. At the end of the meal we were rudely asked to buy a round of drinks for the kitchen staff, which felt almost vindictive. As if to make up for being a smaller group that did not tally up a big ticket, we should compensate the kitchen? We sat down at our table at 5:03 and were in the car, on the way home by 5:50. The entire meal took less than 45 minutes, and it was clear our business was less valuable than the next group. Very disappointing experience overall, we left feeling uncomfortable and upset. Lots of positives lots of negatives. Location in downtown omaha is always great but only a small portion of the restaurant has the downtown atmosphere. We had the beef tartar and I will say it's the best tartar Ive had. Hit all the notes. Had our dinner and it didn't live up the the appetizer. I had the Korean strip and fired rice. Steak cooked perfectly but the dish was lacking in every other way. A $48 steak shouldn't taste of soy like a cheap cut of meat also nothing in that dish read "Korean" to me. My wife had the scallops that was oddly served with tomatoes, bread, and sausage. All of the food was cooked well but the concept was lacking. We will go back again for drinks and the tartar. But we will not be back for dinner. Disappointing for the price we paid. read more

We are from Idaho. Our favorite dining experience ever was at Gather in Jackson. My husband and I shared the pork chop special at the time. Anyhow we were passing through Omaha on a cross country trip and saw there was a Gather. Excited we showed up on a whim only to find out no tables were available due to the college championship series. We were super bummed. We mentioned to the hostess how bummed we are and that we had dined at the Jackson location. We shared our experience with her and she offered to write our name and number down in case there was a cancellation she would call us. We then proceeded to walk through the town looking for another dining option. We were very slow in our approach because we were secretly hoping we'd still get in at Gather. Sure enough after we finally seated at JAM we got a call that there was a table available if we wanted it. We ran out of JAM so quick with our son and got seated with Mark at Gather. I ordered the Pork Shank and it did not disappoint one bit. We ended up having a wonderful date night and it was one of our trip highlights. The entire staff was on point. The service is impeccable and the food is absolutely amazing. Thank you for creating this wonderful dining experience. We will forever visit the Gather location on our trips to Jackson. read more
