the outside of a restaurant at night
Scott K.

Great local small business located in the heart of Monroeville on Northern Pike Road. Parking is somewhat limited and can be frustrating that can be tight fitting at times. Nice sports bar themed restaurant with a wide variety of dishes including pizza, steak, hoagies wings, and great tasting apps and more! Little pricy but worth the price! Huge beer selection that's also available for takeout in the six pack shop. Stephanie is great! We request her whenever e visit. Very friendly and attentive. We never have an empty glass or need anything while dining. Great spot to go when watching sporting events. Breakfast served daily. Love it! Great restaurant, we visit often and are never disappointed! Highly recommended!

Great breakfast food! We stopped in on a weekday during lunchtime and it was pretty busy. They serve breakfast until 2pm every day. My husband and I split the cinnamon roll which was okay, nothing special. I got the breakfast burrito which was 1. delicious and 2. huge! The potatoes were to die for. I definitely want to go back for lunch because their menu has a little bit of everything!

Restaurant in strip mall with lots of parking. Went for breakfast and was very busy. Waited for a table for 5 about 15 minutes. Breakfast menu is good. They also have lunch/dinner. We ordered waffles w/sausage, breakfast sandwich, and steak and egg. All were tasty. Their biscuits are homemade!!! Get them. This is your typical diner and that's the vibe inside. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. She was very much on top of things. Great experience! Didn't wait long for our food at all. The only tiny thing was that the coffee is not very good.

A good experience. Place was very busy but well staffed, and the manager (maybe owner?) seemed to working very hard including cleaning tables, getting people seated, answering questions from staff and patrons. He was very involved, controlling the floor and getting things done. The Restaurant was clean and well staffed. I came from Houston Texas on a trip staying here in Monroe. Knowing what good bbq and ribs tastes like I decided to try the baby backs ribs. Yea, a little taste of Texas. Fall off the bone, hot and well made. The bbq sauce was a sweet version which I love, but just seemed to be missing some kinda kick. For those who love the tangy, smoky more hot sauce may not find less appealing but I give it a 9 out of 10. My dad also tried one of the sandwiches and was very good. The pizzas did look very tasty but perhaps another time. I would certainly come back maybe try the pizza. Definitely recommend this place. Congrats on the staff and restaurant for my 5 star review. Well done. -Joseph. (Houston local guide)

I was told to try the cheesesteak. I love the burgers but I was told to give the cheesesteak a try and it was amazing!!!

I always love a family dinner at Gateway Grill! It's the ultimate comfort food and space. The staff greeted us immediately and our server was super sweet and nice. She was quick to take our order but it did time some time for the food to come out, but when it did it was hot a delicious! Their pizza is meant to be eaten fresh and right away! I enjoyed a nice soft drink and got the Reese pie and a cheese cake to go. We will definitely be back!

Huge breakfast portions, friendly and quick service. I got the breakfast platter with 4 eggs, 4 pieces of bacon, home fries, and toast. I'm definitely coming back.

Reviews are mixed. Many praise the pizza, large portions, and friendly service. The menu is broad, and the casual atmosphere is popular.

Impressed with anything I've ever gotten here! The ribs are to die for.. Fall off the bone tender with addictive sauce.

The lighting was low but not to the point of visual impairment and the music level was just right. Even with so many other patrons, it did not feel or sound crowded. We ordered the iron skillet cornbread for the table and it was perfection. Notice in the picture it is crumbly but not dry at all. Honey butter is delicious. The grilled mahi sandwich was cooked so well and was so juicy it was dripping on the plate. In the best way. It was fishy but didn't taste as if I put the ocean in my mouth. Not pictured is the chicken quesadilla my friend ordered. She never finishes a meal but could not help to do so today. Street corn is to die for. Amazing. No notes. Great meal. First impression was that the color scheme, decorations, and menu all seemed to be dated and uninspired. The staff were polite and attentive. I ordered the salad and Salmon Oscar. The salad was good and the blue cheese dressing I chose was house-made. It was good. My girlfriend got the wedge salad which I think was a bit expensive since it was a $6 up charge for a wedge of iceberg lettuce from the standard salad that came with the entrees. My Salmon Oscar with asparagus was very good. I enjoyed every bite of the salmon and crab. My daughter's chicken parm came with a ton of linguini. My girlfriend got the signature crab cakes which she said were mostly crab and not filler. So while I thought the menu was dated when reading it the food was well executed.

I've been craving a big bowl of their tortilla soup and a buffalo chicken sandwich for years. A recent family outing took us to Monroeville and I knew that we had to eat at Max & Erma's since we were in the neighborhood. The inside is a tad 'odd', with seasonal Christmas lights everywhere decorated in a Fourth of July theme. The table was mildly sticky, the booth seat was mildly uncomfortable, and there was a mild smell of dirty dishwater and/or urine at our seats. All-in-all, the restaurant feels tired and judging by the cleaning products and bucket placed on the ice cream bar, it looks like the workers are used to it being that way. It looks remarkably like the Max & Erma's in Cranberry right before it closed its doors. Service was prompt and friendly. No complaints at all. The food was on point and was as great as I remembered it to be. We got 2 quarts of tortilla soup to go so that we could share the nostalgia with our family and they were equally as smitten. I hope this place stays around and that it gets a little refresher. Generations of yinzers need their tortilla soup, buffalo chicken, and let's not forget those unforgettable cookies to go!

Max & Erma's went from a quaint downtown restaurant to a decent regional chain with pretty reasonable prices. This location was convenient for a bunch of people coming from different directions. They make a great Long Island Iced Tea (not as good as Carl's Tavern, but who does?) and also has some pretty good food. We got some of their fried pickles as an appetizer and wow, they were really good. They could have been bigger pieces of pickle, but they were crispy and not soggy at all. I ordered the Pittsburgh Salad with Grilled Chicken and ranch dressing and it was delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, the service was good and the final bill for all of us didn't break the bank. I'd go back!

Cheap pizza. Quick pizza…read more A pretty standard chain of Domino's. The online ordering and tracking are top notch, but Domino's corporate kinda stopped there on improvements in the last decade. I'll usually order the parmesan garlic knots or cinnamon knots because those are actually really tasty! I find their pizza to be too thin and greasy. One thing to note is that delivery always takes longer than quoted or expected. Know that going in and you won't be disappointed. Is it amazing? nope. but it will get you a fairy inexpensive and quick meal.
