Maybe I went at an off time, it was about 2:00, but the service was horrible, as was the ambiance . I was sitting at the last booth, the farthest from the kitchen. I was all the way at the other end of the dining room, and the server was using her "outside" voice to talk with the kitchen the entire time. I could hear every word she said. She didn't shut up for like a half hour. I finally put my AirPods in to drown her out. When it was time for the check, she was way too busy talking to check on me. I had to go up to her to ask for the check. Good sandwich, crappy service.

It is great to have a place that serves upscale food but isn't stuffy and pretentious. Service is always friendly and efficient. I love that they have a rotating seasonal menu. Both dishes had a lot of flavor and we each enjoyed our meals.

The grilled mahi sandwich was cooked so well and was so juicy it was dripping on the plate. In the best way. It was fishy but didn't taste as if I put the ocean in my mouth. Not pictured is the chicken quesadilla my friend ordered. She never finishes a meal but could not help to do so today. Street corn is to die for. Amazing. No notes. Great meal. The kicker of this experience here is that after ordering wings and being told later the kitchen had actually run out, they came back and gave us a full order of wings on the house for the mistake (there may have been a cancelled order, or miscommunication in the kitchen.) If you're in town, I'd definitely recommend this place for a low key, laid back place to get some drinks and definitely wings.

First impression was that the color scheme, decorations, and menu all seemed to be dated and uninspired. The staff were polite and attentive. I ordered the salad and Salmon Oscar. The salad was good and the blue cheese dressing I chose was house-made. It was good. My girlfriend got the wedge salad which I think was a bit expensive since it was a $6 up charge for a wedge of iceberg lettuce from the standard salad that came with the entrees. My Salmon Oscar with asparagus was very good. I enjoyed every bite of the salmon and crab. My daughter's chicken parm came with a ton of linguini. My girlfriend got the signature crab cakes which she said were mostly crab and not filler. So while I thought the menu was dated when reading it the food was well executed.

I've been craving a big bowl of their tortilla soup and a buffalo chicken sandwich for years. A recent family outing took us to Monroeville and I knew that we had to eat at Max & Erma's since we were in the neighborhood. The inside is a tad 'odd', with seasonal Christmas lights everywhere decorated in a Fourth of July theme. The table was mildly sticky, the booth seat was mildly uncomfortable, and there was a mild smell of dirty dishwater and/or urine at our seats. All-in-all, the restaurant feels tired and judging by the cleaning products and bucket placed on the ice cream bar, it looks like the workers are used to it being that way. It looks remarkably like the Max & Erma's in Cranberry right before it closed its doors. Service was prompt and friendly. No complaints at all. The food was on point and was as great as I remembered it to be. We got 2 quarts of tortilla soup to go so that we could share the nostalgia with our family and they were equally as smitten. I hope this place stays around and that it gets a little refresher. Generations of yinzers need their tortilla soup, buffalo chicken, and let's not forget those unforgettable cookies to go!
