We have been going to Garcias since the week we moved to Buda and it had been our go to place for 8 years. The last time we went in they had made changes that just didn't sit well with us. They had increased the prices drastically and decreased sizes of the ever popular chip bowl and charged for refills of it. When I saw that overall reviews were 4 stars out of 5 it lead me to think this was something special. Still, several reviewers included the word bland. We tried it out for ourselves and found the restaurant to have a lovely location, terrific outdoor seating, decent service but overall the food WAS bland. The exception to this would be the tortilla chips, queso and beans. The main plates such as fajitas, enchiladas and nachos are attractively plated, are good sized portions but there is nothing that makes you wish you had a second helping. I was afraid to eat here originally because I am not one for spicy food. But you have your choice of spicy here. They have no spice, to much spice. The staff works hard, is very friendly and efficient and the food is great. The best thing about it is the sweet iced tea. It is the best in Texas! read more

My wife and I came from about 60 miles from our kinfolks house to eat at Garcias Restaurant because I have been there before in Buda Texas. The chips melt in your mouth, the hot sauce was not very hot so that after it touches your mouth that you can not feel anything for a while, very friendly staff, we received the correct food that we ordered, the carne guisada was so tender that it just fell apart in your mouth, small inside the building but also has tables outside on the covered patio ,low prices, good proportions, very clean restroom and dining area and the business was easy to find the first time I was there. They had a full house while we were there after 6 pm on Saturday June 21 2014. I am willing to recommend this place of business to everyone I know even if you have to drive from a long distance to get there. Oh, the tortillas were delicious. read more

We went to Gargias at lunchtime on a Sunday, so it was understandably very busy. Put our name on the list by the door. Had to wait for a little bit to get a table, but it was worth it. Our server was quite busy, but never made us feel rushed, was extremely friendly & took fantastic care of us. Perfect sweet tea was always full, chips & salsa kept flowing, and the food didn't take long at all to reach our table. I see why this place is so popular! The chips really are some of the best I have ever had & the salsa was quite good as well. I wish I had tried the queso..next time. We were super excited to see barbacoa tacos on the menu & asked the waitress if they were the real deal..she said yes. If you are a real barbacoa lover you know what this means. And they make it everyday..not just on the weekends. Hooray! They were AWESOME!! Ask for a side of onions & cilantro to go with them. YUM!! I had a combo plate & everything was wonderful. Taco & tostada on the plate were still crispy & delicious...not soggy like most places. Crunchy fresh produce. The cheese enchilada was tasty & so was the tamale. We will most definitely be back. We tried Garcia's for the first and last time over the weekend. The service was lousy and the food was worse. All of their sauces are canned and taste that way. Nothing was fresh. The waitstaff has no knowledge of gluten free options (I have celiacs) or what goes in their food. It took forever to get someone to take our order and when someone did show, she was one of the surliest waitresses I've ever met who wasn't working the late night shift at Waffle House. Went there for dinner on a Monday, I got the burrito dish. The staff was nice and quick with the drinks including refills. The food got to us at an incredible speed; less than 10 minutes after order I believe. Which probably explains the blandness of the burrito. My guess is the food sits under a hot lamp, probably even from a can they just open up. There are better Tex-Mex restaurants out there, I think even Baby A's has a better burrito than this place... errr... okay, maybe on par with it. read more

This place will always have a place in my heart. The food always satisfies and tastes like I remember. I only get to come about once a year now as I'm passing through, but it is as consistent as my dad's spaghetti sauce recipe. The only think I hate is having to choose between all my favorites, but as I told my husband today as he debated his selection- there are no wrong answers. I don't think a better cheese enchilada can be found anywhere. Every enchilada topping is delicious, which makes me love the Los Tres Garcia's dish the most. But I also love the fiesta plate because you get a little of everything, including their simple and delicious guacamole. We appreciate the wonderful service in both Buda and San Marcos and love making this stop each July during family reunion time. We now get to bring our two young sons and reminisce about "old times". read more

Ya know. At first I wasn't too crazy about this place. Seemed I dunno....Under par compared to Helens and Chavelos. Being from San Angelo I have a certain expectation for breakfast. Environment. Menu cost. Wait staff knowledgeable and friendly. Coffee better be good and hot. And the salsa better be free with fresh hot poofy tortilla chips. Garcias does all these superbly in my book. The ranchero papas are a MUST with every meal. The last time I knew someone to make em this good was when my grandmother was still alive. Their Migas, huevos rancheros, carne guisada, and tortilla soup, are all musts here! Oh man and their pancakes will butter you up. Best pancakes at any Mexican restaurant west of I-35 hands down. And they have a perfect patio to sit outdoors and enjoy the nice Clean Buda air. Not sure if anyone reading this knows what Julios Salsa is. If you're from West Texas you definitely know Julios salsa. I promise you, (go see for yourself) that the salsa here is pretty damn close to the Julios Salsa. After a 45 minute wait to get in, we were informed by the manager that 1. they do not have a gluten-free menu, 2. they do not know what is in the components they get from their suppliers, and 3. they use the same kitchen utensils for everything so the chances of cross-contamination are very high. read more

garicas in kyle tx!! i am so frustrated with this business. we live in kyle but usually frequent the one in buda because the service is better. every time we have went to the one in kyle, we have issues. the first time, the food was not good and the service was subpar. the second time, the food was great and the service still sucked. we had no drinks, no silverware or tortillas when our fajitas we brought out. and the manager brought out the food and never asked if we needed anything at all. 10 min later, here comes our server. mind you, there were 3 tables in the store at the time. wanted to be done with them, but wanted to give it one more shot. called in for a togo order this time, 3rd time is usually a charm, but not with this joint! ugh. hubby gets home and guess what not one thing was right about our order. they don't even include chips and salsa with their carry out which i think is pretty shady. hubby has gone back to get the correct order and we shall see what happens. read more

While visiting in Buda, we decided to give this place a try because of all the rave reviews on Yelp. What a dissapointment! The barbacoa tasted like it had been reheated many times and the flour tortillas were awful. HEB has better and more authentic tortillas. The only thing worth eating here are the chips. read more
