    Flying Pig

Personally I am not a doughnut fan, however my fiancé is so when looking up must try places in Austin I came across Gourdough's and wanted to let him have a try. The actual spot is very nicely decorated with a good amount of outdoor seating, shade, string lights, and even a corn hole area to spend time. The person who rang us up was friendly and gave us some recommendations which was nice. Now on to the doughnut, we ended up ordering the Flying Pig which is a specialty doughnut with house made maple icing and bacon. I did have a try and personally it was just waaay to rich and heavy for my liking but since i'm not really a doughnut person I asked my fiancé on his opinion and he said the same thing. The icing was really rich and comparable to a cinnamon roll glaze. The actual doughnut was very dense and deep fried tasting and the bacon bits/flavor was just ok. Also for a single doughnut it is pricey but for the portion size at least 2 or 3 people can share a few bites due to it's richness.

Went last year to the Austin location on 1st and had to come back! This time we were staying closer to the new Menchaca Road location so we decided to go to this location instead. It's an airstream set up with a lot of cute decor and lights and seating, also by South Austin Beer Garden. We ordered the nutty valentine (Nutella with fresh strawberries) and the black Betty (a cream cheese frosting one with a blackberry jam like topping. Both were good, I'd say even better then the 1st location closer to downtown Austin, and it was less busy so we got our donuts faster and tasted fresher! One of our favorite places to stop to get something sweet in Austin.

    A sampling!

So fun! Perfect balance with the doughnut and toppings! My favorite was cream cheese icing with fresh strawberries .

Amazing!!! The donuts were warm and the toppings were on point. Basic food truck service. Typical food truck dessert place.

We stopped by after a drink at SABG and the donuts were delicious. Definitely recommend the son of a peach and miss shortcake.

Highly recommend. Their slow roasted pork - lechón... is the real deal. Same for the black beans...not out of a can...slowly simmered...and perfectly seasoned. I'd prefer white long grain rice but that's alright...everything was very tasty. Will definitely be back. Hopefully they show up on a local food delivery service soon. The worst was the veggie sandwich (pictured). This was before I ate any of it. It was literally Swiss cheese, one slice of tomato, 1 piece of romaine, and a few avocado chunks. The menu said it would also have onions, but either it didn't or the amount was so small I could neither see nor taste it. I tried to eat the sandwich but it tasted like bread with wilted lettuce, so I ended up throwing it away after a few bites. The worst part was that it took 20+ minutes to get the food.... And you have to stand there and wait. They don't text you or anything. I love the Hive, but will be telling everyone I know to avoid this food truck. We got one taco that was decent. A bit dry, but fine. Granted, you can find a lot of tacos that are better than "fine" in Austin.

Tons of picnic tables, a big bar for drinks, and even a little fountain you can sit by. Great place to hang out. I ordered the smash burger. It was... fine. Not bad at all, just not in my top tier of Austin smash burgers. The patty came out in pieces, which happens when it gets smashed a little too thin. Totally edible, still tasted good, it just didn't have that cohesive patty feel or the crispy lacy edges I like. I ordered through the QR code on the table, which told me it would take about 30 minutes, but it was ready in 10. Not complaining, but it's always funny when the system just picks a random long estimate and then surprises you. Fries were adequate, nothing memorable. Service was okay. I asked for a side of their special sauce, and the guy looked totally baffled, like no one in the history of burgers had ever asked for sauce on the side. Someone else behind him finally said, "I think he means the Biggie sauce." Now I know what to call it if I ever return. Overall: decent burger, not amazing, but Armadillo Den itself is a great hang. I wouldn't come back specifically for this burger, but I'd happily eat it again if I was already there with friends.
