Barbacoa Nacho Fríes and a Corndog
Ashley N.

Was super excited to try this new food truck by the Leroy and Lewis group! We ordered the Barbacoa Nacho Fries and a Corndog with pink sauce. The Corndog was AMAZING, great flavor and texture. The pink sauce was also great, it was slightly spicy and seemed ketchup/mayo based. We enjoyed the nacho fries, the toppings were excellent (white queso, pico, Leroy and Lewis barbacoa, homemade pickled jalapeños) but we were a little disappointed with the fries themselves. The fries didn't have much flavor alone if there wasn't enough topping - I think they could use some more salt or a seasoned salt, especially given that it is a French fry truck we were expecting a bit more wow factor to the fries themselves. We also wish the fries were a bit larger for $13, I know that the meat is not cheap given the quality but I think a larger base of fries would better justify the cost. Overall would definitely visit again though!

I complained to the food truck yesterday already but got a 'I don't care attitude' and was told to report to a manager. It's extremely misleading to charge $11 for a kids grilled cheese that's hamburger bun slapped with 2 slices of cheese. No kid would ever look at this and accept it as a grilled cheese. Any parent would know if their kid asked for a grilled cheese and got this instead, they're not going to be happy. The least the food truck can do is add a proper description that's not misleading.

The bartenders are nice and the Mexican martini drinks we ordered were very yummy. About $15. I'm not sure if there's a happy hour but lots of variety. It's not very busy so plenty of seats, for now. The Pickleball courts are free to book for now so take advantage it's a brand new court With solid ground. There's a playground for kids and two bars and plenty of parking. i'll need to come back to try the food trucks. They were getting ready and gearing up as we were leaving around five. Check it out. I'm looking forward to visiting more since I'm down here more often.

Highly recommend. Their slow roasted pork - lechón... is the real deal. Same for the black beans...not out of a can...slowly simmered...and perfectly seasoned. I'd prefer white long grain rice but that's alright...everything was very tasty. Will definitely be back. Hopefully they show up on a local food delivery service soon. Awful. Got dinner from there and it was a huge disappointment. First of all, the empanadas…read moreappetizer is one empanada. Not sure why it is plural on the menu. The worst was the veggie sandwich (pictured). This was before I ate any of it. It was literally Swiss cheese, one slice of tomato, 1 piece of romaine, and a few avocado chunks. The menu said it would also have onions, but either it didn't or the amount was so small I could neither see nor taste it. I tried to eat the sandwich but it tasted like bread with wilted lettuce, so I ended up throwing it away after a few bites. The worst part was that it took 20+ minutes to get the food.... And you have to stand there and wait. They don't text you or anything. I love the Hive, but will be telling everyone I know to avoid this food truck. We got one taco that was decent. A bit dry, but fine. Granted, you can find a lot of tacos that are better than "fine" in Austin.

We are vegetarians and requested dishes to be prepared with no seafood sauce (fish sauce, eel…read moresauce, etc). They were able to provide their noodle dishes and rice dishes with the requested modification, but not the curries. We ordered Pad Thai, which had no veggies (wish it did) but had some flavor, the green curry fried rice was delicious, and another noodle dish we tried turned out better than Pad Thai. The quantities and pricing were good.

One of my shortest Yelp reviews ever:…read more I was at the Armadillo Den celebrating my friend's birthday and wanted a bite. Their fried pickles sounded pretty good. That's all I ordered, and I got a monster-sized serving of fried pickles. I was thinking I'd get a small cup because that's the food truck way, but there was plenty to go around and I was very satisfied, even with letting all the people around me grab some as well. They threw down. I'll probably go back next time I'm at the Den or Cosmic. Tons of picnic tables, a big bar for drinks, and even a little fountain you can sit by. Great place to hang out. I ordered the smash burger. It was... fine. Not bad at all, just not in my top tier of Austin smash burgers. The patty came out in pieces, which happens when it gets smashed a little too thin. Totally edible, still tasted good, it just didn't have that cohesive patty feel or the crispy lacy edges I like. I ordered through the QR code on the table, which told me it would take about 30 minutes, but it was ready in 10. Not complaining, but it's always funny when the system just picks a random long estimate and then surprises you. Fries were adequate, nothing memorable. Service was okay. I asked for a side of their special sauce, and the guy looked totally baffled, like no one in the history of burgers had ever asked for sauce on the side. Someone else behind him finally said, "I think he means the Biggie sauce." Now I know what to call it if I ever return. Overall: decent burger, not amazing, but Armadillo Den itself is a great hang. I wouldn't come back specifically for this burger, but I'd happily eat it again if I was already there with friends.
