So I stopped for lunch about a week ago... My server was good very attentive food was excellent but the only complaint is the rug in restaurant make it smell sour and all faded owners should invest in a floor with out a carpet...just saying read more

Not the least bit impressed. We had read reviews and it seemed like a good place for dinner, and there is nothing we like more than a new place to eat, so we went. Sorry we did. The floors were dirty, the tables had mostly not been cleared, and the place smells like a Denny's. the staff could not have been less interested in us from beginning to end. For some reason, we were given one waiter who spoke with us about the food and then disappeared, and FINALLY a different waitress came over to take our order. We got the impression she had yelled at him for stealing her table, but frankly she was a bitch and we wished he would return. The food was bland and not the least bit memorable. I really don't think more needs to be said about that. It sucked. When we went up to pay, the woman at the desk couldn't even be bothered to look at me, and never once said a word to me. She was too busy gossiping and complaining about work problems to notice anything other than my credit card. Horrible. Don't go. read more

Hugely disappointed, that my yelp friends let me down. We had chicken flautas, a brisket burrito with green chile and chips & salsa. The brisket in the burrito was gross and the green chili had no flavor. The flautas were oily and pretty tasteless. The chips and salsa was grocery store grade. The restaurant itself was and old diner style with carpet and bad decorations. Robert with Restaurant Impossible would have a hay day with this place. There are so many great choices for New Mexican food and this so far would be the last place I would ever go. read more

I went there with my family for breakfast. It hit the spot. There was great service, great food, great art, food came out very fast considering what we ordered. It is locally owned which means that you will get the service that the big chains cannot offer. I highly recommend this to anyone who is thinking about going here. read more

Usually delighted with food; but ordered take out breakfast burritos. What a disappointment. Very little meat, very little chile and no taste at all. Too much burrito competition in town for Garcias to serve burritos like this. read more

Interesting that all the other reviews were answered, even the negative reviews, but mine has been ignored Just goes to show as I read all of the other negative reviews, the service is not great. read more

I really would like to give this place a awesome review but I just can't... And it's all over there stupid soda machine... Food is always spot on for breakfast or lunch... The sodas on the other hand taste like dirty dish water... I am not an expert when it comes to soda machine operations.. I can however tell you that not having a tasty beverage with my food takes away from the whole meal and keeps me from going here all the time... read more

Food was excellent had a combination with red chile. Chile relleno was the best. As good as Chope's in Las Cruces. Salsa par. Daughter wanted breakfast. Sausage patty was size of a burger patty. She ate it all. Wear a sweater if you are so inclined. It was nice and cool inside. Get extra napkins because your nose will be a runnin'. Tell waiter to bring sopapillas (as per the norm so they don't get cold). Great experience. Count this as of of the best restaurants in America. read more

Garcia's Kitchen - NACHOS chicken - New Mexican Cuisine Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

This has been a go to restaurant for breakfast, lunch and I have to say it's lost all my want to go there anymore! They don't cook the the potatoes to crisp your lucky to get an over easy egg! No cutlery! No salt no pepper! all this is the car side delivery. When you pay over 25 dollars (including tip) for two plates !! You expect more. Sorry to see this off the menu. read more

This place definitely has that dinner charm and hometown feel for sure. I am a regular and live in the are and they really take the time to talk to you and get to know you. It seems they have found a nice way of making regulars. I come and fill up my appetite and my stomach every time. Speaking of the food they have a really unique and special Red Chile and extreamly flavorful Green Chile. The waiters are well attentive and keep everything you need coming as fast as you need it. As my meal ended I had to take a couple steps back and see if I could really fit all my burrito in my stomach but it was so delicious I just had to. I enjoyed my experience very much and thought it was a very well run restaurant. read more

I'm not sure if there is a new staff in the kitchen, or we just happened to hit them on a good night. But our dinner tonight was absolutely excellent. I had a carne adovada burrito with whole beans and crispy fried potatoes. My wife had Chris's special. Everything was top notch. Our server was excellent, as well. Consistency makes a huge difference, and our experience at this location has been hit or miss for quite a few years. More misses, than hits, unfortunately. Once upon a time, this particular Garcia's was consistently good, and then they slipped. I'm hoping tonight was an indication of a change for the better. Original post. Ok food, but not all that great. This location doesn't even come close to the Garcia's on 4th @ Mountain Rd. no comparison, really. I've been to both locations a number of times, and they are both consistent. 4th street is excellent. This one, meh. The only reason I still eat here on occasion is because it's close to our house. Definitely worth driving the distance to go downtown. read more

Food is consistently good Most of the time the wait is not more than 15-20 wait when it is is busy on Sunday The red Chile is consistently flavorful and pleasantly hot This is definitely not a fancy place Just good food Not expensive A good local New Mexican restaurant that has been around for 40 -50 years They are obviously doing something right Not a tourist place A local place Good food . read more

Good food, and inexpensive. The wait staff is very friendly. The decor is straight out of the mid-1970's, when it first opened. The color scheme is questionable, but then again this is New Mexico. I made a mistake and ordered the nachos supreme, which weren't all that great, but I saw a bunch of the other food that other people were ordering and it was pretty awesome. I won't make that mistake again, and I'll be back. read more

We usually like eating at Garcia's but this time was awful. We hardly saw our server and when I asked to talk to the manager (her name was isabella) she was very condescending and rude. Don't think I'm gonna eat here for awhile. Foods good but the customer service could use some work....lots of it read more

Outstanding service outstanding service as always My favorite place to eat Mexican food in town, especially the menudo and chicharones. Great for a cold night read more

Garcia's is a local chain, here in Burque, that serves authentic New Mexican food. They deliver quick/efficient service at moderate prices - been in business for 40 years and have 7 locations. The original location is on 4th and Mountain. The tortillas are hand made.. light and fluffy. In my opinion.. best in town. The carne is also a good choice. Open for breakfast/lunch/dinner. The is my favorite GO TO RESTAURANT when I don't have a lot of time, but want a sit down breakfast/dinner, to eat good New Mexican Food at a bargain price. My favorite... Ground beef enchiladas smothered w/Christmas, w/ a side of fries. OH.. the pancakes are excellent!! read more

Hi, last Saturday evening we decided to check out this Mexican food place again, because it finally accommodated guests for indoor dinning. We realized, still 25% occupancy, which was fine with us. Had our regular waitress too! But that is where the familiarity ended! The background music sounded distorted, due to the reason, that the kitchen radio (for kitchen staff) was competing with the piped in music for the restaurant. Not comforting and relaxing at all! The Restaurant had about 5 tables occupied. The tables had no condiments for the guests, so when the food was brought to the table, it came in Styrofoam boxes and prepackaged plastic silver ware, that incl. Pepper, Salt and 1 napkin. We had ordered hot teas and lemon, it came in Styrofoam cups and hot water was served in a sticky, fingerprinted tin pot. All of it a big turn off. I know, we still live in an active pandemic, but we just moved into a new, less restricted phase and to my knowledge, other Restaurants served their meals on regular dishes and cups and glasses. Having to use plastic silverware is not at all enjoyable and causes spill accidents and can easily break. The food seemed to tast about the same, but the portions looked a lot smaller. No lettuce, tomatoe and onion garnish! The price, on the other hand, had gotten slightly higher! Garcia's Restaurants are an old family owned business, they've been open for take out business all thru the pandemic and continue to do so, I might add very successfully! Surely, they have received stimulus assistance, but profit is ranking higher for the owners, then their customers experience! Greatly disappointed in the way they handle their indoor patrons! read more

Very disappointing! Began highly disappointed as I showed up hungry, placed my order, and sat there wondering where my chips and salsa was. First place I've ever been to anywhere ever that doesn't offer that, and was informed once my meal arrived. Meat had no flavor, except brisket was pretty good. All around no good on this particular day for me, and without the salsa and chips I've come to expect at any Mexican restaurant I'll certainly never return. read more

Good Food And Reasonable Prices!!! I've been in Albuquerque for many years and this is the first time I walk in Garcias. I was surprised, it's a nice and clean restaurant. The prices were pretty reasonable, and food was tasty. As far as I could tell, this restaurant doesn't use (MSG MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE) in their food. We ordered the chicken enchiladas and it tasted pretty decent. I felt the place could use a facelift though, looks dated. Specifically, the outdoor sign and building paint is not too appealing. I'll definitely go back to Garcias again, no doubt about it. I usually try to overlook outside of the restaurant because in the past I've been pleasantly surprised by Customer Services and food, however, it does have an effect on people... I'll be back... Thank you read more

Good quality greasy spoon New Mexican food. A comfort classic but nothing to get too excited about either. Really good retried beans and potatoes. I come here for breakfast once a week. Very basic but very satisfying. read more

What WONDERFUL food!! We are used to Mexican food, but New Mexican food is a bit different. The green chili is pretty hot, so if you aren't a chili person, ask for it on the side so you can put on just a little. We had a chicken burrito (smothered in chili and cheese) and a fajita plate. Both were really good. Our server, Jonathan, was very knowledgable and helpful. Overall, a GREAT place to eat! read more

I decided to give this place a try again since the last time I ate there was over 10 years ago. It hasn't changed unfortunately. I ordered a Navajo taco which I'm used to green chili sauce poured over it and this had a little pile of green chilis in the middle, no sauce, so it was very dry. The ground beef was terrible tasting and there were little smashed potatoes on it which I'm not used to being on a Navajo taco. My boyfriend ordered huevos rancheros and when I looked at it, it looked nothing like huevos. It had the flour tortilla on the bottom, with the fried egg underneath it!! Very weird. It was nasty he said. My mom got the chicken enchiladas which looked nothing like enchiladas I've ever eaten. Needless to say none of us finished our meals. I was born and raised here on mexican food and this was nothing like I've ever tasted before. I gave this food 1 star because you have to otherwise it would have been ZERO! Taco bell is better than this place and that's not saying much. Will not ever be going back to any Garcia's again if this is what they consider Mexican food. read more

Classic New Mexican fare. Both red and green chile is some of the best in town. Service is fast and the staff is well-trained. On top of some of the best New Mexico Cuisine experiences one could have, the beer is nice and cold. read more

The restaurant is great and the food is yummy. Love ordering from here. However, who ever is answering your phones at this moment is rude. Your food is great though! read more

Was in Albuquerque, NM in September 2014. We took a month vacation - bucket list. We decided to eat At Garcia's the New Mexico cuisine, on rt 66! The Juan Tabo location is no longer a good option. We are faithful patrons of Garcia's but I do not recommend this location. The manager Tim is rude and has zero concern for his customers. Our order was made wrong three different times in the matter of an hour. Each time we had to wait another 20 minutes for them to remake it (crispy beef tacos; super difficult I know). When I called the manager to find out what was going on, he was short, rude, and never once did he offer an apology. I get we live in a different time right now but don't expect customers to come back while your manners are in quarantine. Shameful. read more

The server this evening was fantastic. He was friendly and warm and attentive to our drinks and needs. The food was absolutely terrible. Aside from the red Chile, the food had little to no seasoning or flavor at all. The only reason I would return to this establishment is for the attentiveness of the wait staff. Otherwise the food needs a serious improvement!! read more

Garcia's is a pretty basic New Mexican food restaurant, but they are consistent, their food is good, and the prices are good. Garcia's has been around for as long as I can remember, and we are here a couple of times a month. All of their menu items are decent, not the best, but also not the worst New Mexican food, and you get a lot of food for what you pay for. The red and green chile are always delicious, in fact their red is one of my favorites in town. Their to go is also good, we order to go from there about one a month. While we usually stick to enchiladas, burritos, or tacos at dinner, their breakfast is incredible. We rarely eat out for breakfast, but when we want a break from the normal breakfast burrito as a spicy breakfast, we love coming to Garcia's.The breakfast tacos are delicious, and the stuffed breakfast sopapilla is a good choice, too (but a lot of food!). read more

The red can be really hot but this is good, inexpensive New Mexican food and is traditional Albuquerque style. Yum! A long-standing tradition in NM is to stop at one of the Garcia's locations and eat til you sweat. read more

First time coming here and it wasn't that great. Upon entering it smelled of dirty mop water, our server was quick but the water we ordered tasted as if it was from the sink and it wasn't that cold either. The combination plate I got was mediocre, the sopapilla's were the best part of my meal, my husband's breakfast burrito was good and the server was quick and very attentive. read more

Great food , great prices and I can bring my Alzheimer's clients here , they are so understanding. Get some tortillas!

New Mexican food for those who know the difference. Ample plates at reasonable prices with consistent quality. For some reason the food is better at this Garcia's than others we've tried. Maybe it's the hustle bustle of the bigger place and the background noise of silverware on plates. read more

This could be the worse Mexican food I've ever had. I was super excited upon entering because there were homemade tortillas, tamales and chili for sale. I was w a group of 11 people and no one was happy, but we were so hungry, most of us managed to choke down half of the food. I ordered the combination plate with a cheese enchilada, a tamale and a taco. The beans and rice were ok, but some of the rice was crunchy. The taco was definitely nasty; I would describe it better but don't want to put another bite in my mouth. The cheese enchilada was ok but made w yellow cheese--wtf? The tortillas were thick and looked delicious, but were dry and spongy. The tamale--I have no time left to tell you how not good they were. read more

I am a die hard fan of Garcia's Kitchen. I tend to get the same order which is: Red chili cheese enchiladas with an egg on top, nachos and an Horchata. If you have never had Garcia's before but are considering it, don't think about it any longer! Their red chili is AMAZING to say the least. Their green chili chicken enchiladas are also very delicious but their NACHO CHEESE is unlike anything else I've had!!! It makes my mouth water just to think about it!! Their aguas frescas are not freshly made but it's okay because they're still tasty! The only downside is that some locations have bigger large cups than others do and only 1 has a drive thru option (as far as I am aware), which is the San Mateo location. Nonetheless, it's an amazing place to eat and those minor details are not enough reason to not give them 5 stars. Plus, any location you go to typically has really nice employees. Also, when you call in an order it will usually save on to their system for when you call again, which is great if you're a person like me that has their usual! Do yourself a favor and try Garcia's now if you haven't already. And if you have, go have some more!!! read more

Homemade tortillas, sopapillas, and chile! Everything was fantastic. One of the best breakfasts of my life.

I'm going to give them 3 stars. And it's a lucky 3 stars. Honestly, the menudo is the reason for the 3 star rating. Without it, they'd get 1. The service here is awful. I had to ask multiple times for my waitress and drink. Waited 35 minutes for a bowl of menudo and some chorizo and scrambled eggs. The place was almost empty so they can't say they were busy. And the wait staff is rude to each other in front of customers. IF I come back. It'll be for the menudo. Nothing else read more

Garcia's has an okay atmosphere, a little outdated and nothing special but always very clean inside. Fast and friendly waitstaff. The tortillas and sopapillas are delicious! They are soft, fluffy, and freshly made. The food is good (I wouldn't say the best ive ever tasted). I would definately recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting fast and friendly service with good "new mexican" food. read more
