We did not have a good experience . The cost was high for games and food. We had more fun at Dave and Busters when it was packed and we waited in line for games than we did here. The prizes are crap and the cost is so high. The staff were not friendly or welcoming. The atmosphere was terrible. We made the best of it but I would not recommend this to friends or family. D&B who?! Gameworks is sooooo much better - and bonus, most of the games actually work. Yup, you heard it! This two story extra large locale, right in the heart of downtown Seattle, offers something a little bit different to do, particularly if you're a local or are visiting for an extended stay. The ONLY time to go in my opinion is on Thursday between 5pm-close, when Game Cards are ONLY 10 bucks for all you can play video games (doesn't inc. ticket or token games). Oh, what luck that we just happened to visit on a Thursday and found this amazeballs deal = otherwise buying points can be rather expensive and the $ spent adds up quickly (can easily drop $50 p/p). Hubster and I went through all of the series of the Zombie 3D FPS - cool! GWs has many other cool games from OG Cruis'n USA car racing to an almost life-size Operation board (that is impossible to "operate" on). Neato. And, it is 18 (why not 21?) and over after 10pm so no screaming kiddos to compete with. Lol. ;) They have a full bar and offer food (didn't eat). The drinks are average price ($5.25 for Coors Light, $6 for Absolut and cranberry), but...the bar service is definitely lacking in quality. The "tenders" seem more interesting in standing at the end of the bar chatting with other employees and regular patrons than serving peeps (like me) at the other end...so the long-ish wait can be a bit irritating. Popped in here with some coworkers on a Thursday night during a business trip in Seattle. Walked the floor, checked out the games and then settled down at a table by the bar. Waited and waited and waited. A group of servers stood next to the bar (4 of them) talking with each other, horsing around and at one point a server squirted another server with the hose drink dispenser.This pretty much kept up the whole night, meanwhile customers were ignored. Just when we were about to leave, DJ whirled in and saved the day! He really hustled and seemed to be taking care of EVERYONE's tables while the staff just joked around with each other. He was really friendly despite the heavy load of trying to take care of everyone. DJ = 5 stars Gameworks = 2 Gameworks definitely has the potential for awesomeness, but more people than DJ need to give a damn. read more

Perfect spot to get your game on during lunch hour! Mwahahaha! I've recently been going to play drummania and the Ferrari race simulator. They seem to be holding the place up fairly well considering how old the place is. I s'pose true to its experience it still has oldie classics to all the way up to some more modern games. The Ferrari race simulation is pretty fun for being years old. It's got a full setup: slide adjust seat, 4 buttons for computer driving control, 6-spd manual with clutch, and heel rest below the brake and gas. The racing physics are also pretty realistic. Man, I remember that giant vertical game in the middle of the floor years ago, you'd always hear it. Now it's gone; how time flies. read more

Came in on a Sunday 12:30 and it wasn't too crowded. They have the classic arcade games but after two or three loops around the place, it gets a little tired. I would probably spend a max of one hour here, which is more than plenty. They have a bar and pizza/snacks so I can see how families could spend half a day here but there are definitely better arcades out there. Location is convenient though. read more

I remember when Gameworks was exciting and had a lot to offer people of all ages. Now it is kind of sad to walk in there. On one corner there is an entrance where there is a bar and restaurant type booths for a meal or drink. On the other side you enter and see arcade machines. All the games require you to put money on a Gameworks card to play them. Gone are the days of quarters or putting coins in a machine - everything is done on a swipe card. Groupon often has deals for Gameworks day passes and tokens that make it worthwhile to visit, but their regular retail prices make it hard to get people in here even on the weekend. I walked through here on the way to seeing a movie next door over the weekend and there were a few people around (your standard DDR guy with the gloves, getting an extreme workout in, and some people redeeming tickets at the prize area). The interior of the place looked a little dated and dark. They could use updated flooring or carpets and better marketing. read more

Hosted a fantastic kid party at gameworks. Making the reservation was straight forward and the party room experience was smooth and easy. One of the staff members tried to pocket my change in hopes I didn't notice he shorted me...when I let him know I was short, he had the most fake "oops, sorry" I've ever heard. Staff are unfriendly-holding hand out for you to hand them your game card instead of asking politely...or asking at all. Games are pretty spendy and prizes are not worth the time and money spent. We went to GameWorks for some evening fun, as my fiancé LOVES video games and we were intrigued by the concept. We were impressed by different aspects with an area for full gaming systems, old school games, and modern games. At the same time we also were not impressed as the whole place was incredibly dirty, and at times gross. In fact, my fiancé went and used the restroom at one point, and found feces on the floor in the middle of the restroom floor. We immediately left. Apparently restrooms are not well monitored and management does not take pride in ensuring this place is clean, despite it being close to where the adult gaming systems were on the upper floor. read more

Super cool concept but we have something like this in Az called Dave and busters, this place is just the bootleg version of that. When we got there we got our card to play games and when upstairs to the bar & Mackenzie was so sweet & lovely and helped me pick out a beer the Star dust ipa. Reminded me of a beer from home. This is where sh*t got weird... my boyfriend went to the bar to get us another round while I waited looking at the menu everything was super pricey but whatever. I waited for my boyfriend. The drink he got me was delicious which is was the Berry drink w/ Red Bull. I looked everywhere and it's not on the menu. We didn't get the server to come around at all, his name was Payton, after we waved him down from ignoring us he said it's better for us to just order with the bartender bcuz we opened a tab with him and them when my boyfriend walked up to order at the bar. The bartender came after the order was made and slammed the side plates down on our table, uninterested to be attending us. So rude, thanks Jason. And every-time I tried talking to him he didn't even like make convo he was just super busy or just didn't care... idk. Maybe that's game works and how they work to have no good service at all. The food was so weird, I got the shrimp cocktail and it came out grilled but on ice... wait, what... that didn't make sense to me at all. The plating was a bit off for me as well. The selection of rhythm games here is off the step charts. They have DDR X2 and a Supernova 2 cabinet. I would avoid the X2 cab because the arrows suck and the machine has definitely seen better days. It's probably still fun for beginners, though. They also have Pop'n music, Guitar Freaks, Taiko no Tatsujin, Pump it up XX, and Beatsaber if you care to count that also. I usually play DDR but tried PIU for the first time tonight, ever for a few rounds to switch things up and see if I was any good(I sucked lol). Shout out to the employee homie that showed me the code to unlock all songs and difficulties and made my experience legit nonetheless. I'll definitely be back for more PIU but will have to stick to Dave and Busters for DDR. On a side note: PIU XX is probably the nicest rhythm cab I have ever laid eyes on. Okay... GameWorks has stepped their game up and it shows. And I still won't come for the food, but for drinks and games? Definitely. The bar is... a bar. No craft cocktails here. But if you're a local beer lover, you'll find some PNW picks here. And if you're looking to drink wine on the cheap, I personally can't pass on their canned selection (yes, I said it) that is like a damn half bottle, okkaay?! That's what I'm talking about when you're on the move, playing games. Speaking of games, the whole arcade looks different from the last time I came in. From the PC gaming area, to new VR gaming stations with Beat Saber, I was impressed! It also looked much cleaner overall and updated. I didn't feel as if there were as many racing games, which was nice. And I didn't really see anything out of order either. I don't really play games for prizes, but I walked through the new store and the prizes were awesome, gamer centric, and things I as an adult gamer would like! I am not sure why there are so many bad reviews of this place. My review pertains to the arcade only and I have been several times. Usually, my friend and myself play together and we combine our tickets. There are a few that we generally play together because we rack up a lot of tickets. I enjoy the wheel of fortune game as well and the red hot and have a lot of fun with both. Some of the games are fun and addiciting, some are just boring. it depends on your taste of games. I love it there. The reason I am giving four stars instead of five is the rudeness of the staff. The staff at the counter in the game section are usually apathetic about helping you and could care less. This has been our experience the multiple times we have been there. Also, some of the games are Scammy as in you only get like 3 tickets and it does this to everyone. Aslo, it's like you spend a lot of money on credits but the prizes are shit. we spent $50 combined and got 200 credits a piece and came out with 1570 tickets and all it bought us was a small stuffed poop emoji. like what the heck? Otherwise, we enjoy it for a good time and fun and games. Like I said, I have never eaten food there, and this review is for the arcade area only. If you are looking for fun and have some extra cash to spare, I recommend the Game Works arcade! read more

This review is more focused on the restaurant but includes the gaming area as well. 3 stars for the gaming part, -1 star for the restaurant. The gaming area- decent enough. All day Groupon makes it worth it. The prizes are pretty cool. It is worth noting the Groupon applies to the "yellow" games only, "blue" games (the ones that issue tickets) are not included. There are still some fun games to play but as expected the newer/cooler games are all the blue ones. Still fun though. The bar/restaurant- Because I know how important reviews are, I'm going to stick to stating (mostly) facts. You can make your own judgements. After seating myself and waiting more than 5 mins for someone to swing by, I went to the bar and ordered my drink. Saw the entire staff at the bar all taking shots together. O.O Sat down, waited another 10+ mins and the waitress stopped by and asked to take my order. I was trying to explain I had already ordered and didn't want to double it up but she interrupted me mid sentence to school me that she would be the "one taking my order". Ok then. Yes ma'am. So I ordered my drink again. 30+ mins later after no one coming by, I flagged down another waiter and ordered Waygu burger (well done) with regular fries (instead of jojos), got the joes anyways and a pink burger. Also asked for bbq and ranch, these did not arrive until I ordered a second time. All food arrived cold. Including the fries they brought after I was more than half way done with the meal. Later on, I ordered a coke, it was delivered to a different table. Eventually asked for a refill, was taking forever so I went to the bar to get it myself and when I got back to my table it had finally arrived. In the 3 hours I was there (watching a big Hawks game), the waitress checked on me two times. Both times were after I already flagged down another employee and ordered through them. My family got four cards with three hours of unlimited games, however we were disappointed that we could not play some games because they were ticket games. Maybe make some ticket games dual games where if you have a timed card you don't get tickets from it? Most of the games were fairly enjoyable and easy enough for my 4 year old to play, and challenging enough for my 12 year old and I to have fun. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I will probably go back next time we are in Seattle. read more

This place reminds me of the old Playdium, that used to exist in Canada. There are lots of entertaining games. But I personally think its quite expensive. The place is spacious and quite clean. Not sure if its because I am coming here really late at night, its actually not that busy. I am not into playing the games where you win tokens and redeem the token for prizes. But they do have a few of those kind of token games but not a lot. In terms of just fun interactive games they have quite a few. They have the classic shooting hoops to shoot games to racing etc. This would be a great youngster hangout place especially they open late. It's a game place so from that prospective it is a great place. Lots of choices but overpriced games. The menu is long. The tots are a great choice for a bar snack. Can't really say much more, it's bar food so good enough. The beer wasn't the best. Kegs we're empty and the beer choices were ok. Watch out for the pint glasses as they are a super light plastic. If you think glass you will pick them up spilling it everywhere. Last note, the wait staff is terribly slow. They could be busy in which case they need to hire more but there was less than 10 tables. The ONLY reason I went to Gameworks was to meet up with my college friend and her 11-year-old son (so he could play games while my friend and I visited). Otherwise, this is not an establishment I would frequent (I'm more of a quiet, non-chain sort of patron). Having said that, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. I used my credit card to pay for our dinner and drinks (a little over $100), but didn't notice until glancing at the itemized receipt the next morning that the total charged is $2.00 more than the total of each line item printed on the receipt ... and the disconnect is in the SUB-TOTAL area of the receipt, not the taxes / fee / tip area. In other words, they charged me $2.00 for something without telling me, which is not legal. Even though it's only $2.00, I plan to visit them again today to have them go to the trouble of crediting my card $2.00 (or just giving me cash), because it's the principal of the thing. Took our daughter here for her ninth birthday in December. It was huge and packed full of games like I remember from my high school years, however...1/3 of the games (at LEAST) are broken/out of order! What gives!? I could deal with the less than hygienic/clean floor space but the lack of cool working games is a major thumbs down. We did appreciate the young staffer that upon seeing the claw game ate our "tokens" went and won my daughter a stuffed animal for her birthday anyway. So in a nutshell, my kid thought it was fun but wished the Minecraft PC area didn't have a three hour wait and more games were working. Not horrible, but not my #1 choice for a birthday anytime soon. EDIT: While I appreciate any business that takes the time to respond to a less than perfect review, that response was definitely full of holes and excuses. I've been going to GW since I was a teenager, it's not dirty and full of broken games because of high volume business, it's just old and I'm sure super expensive to maintain. To tell you the truth it was not even 10% -15% full (unless you count the small Minecraft PC area) I think I would have more respect with a straightforward "Sorry that wasn't a great experience and what can we do to make it better?" Instead of invalidating and justifying poor atmosphere. It's not OK to take my daughter to an arcade she's been excited about for weeks and see the look on her face when three out of five games she wants to play don't work (in EVERY AREA) and judging from the signs and dust, haven't worked for a long long time. We spent all that money for her and her best friend to play the same two games over and over. The ONLY two they could find that worked side-by-side. No hard feelings. Parents want the best for their kids and they can be super harsh when they feel like they haven't been given that. Myself included. You've got a ton of square footage and I can't imagine what it must cost to run that place! It's still a cool spot that holds some fun memories, but not up to the standard I would like to take my child for a one-of-a-kind experience. Vegan rating: 1.5 I've found things to eat but they're usually sides and not worth coming here unless you need to for food. This place is fun to hang out with friends or coworkers after work. The games are a little bit run down and older compared to some other arcades. They have general arcade games here, including but not limited to: air hockey; basketball; 4 person pacman; car racing games; and shoot the can. As for the restaurant, the tables have been a bit sticky every time I've been here. The waitstaff is usually friendly, but occasionally rushed and flustered. The food I was told is good but not great. They have a lot of beers and a couple of ciders available. The juices they have are generic boxed juice. Arcades are a dying breed, especially ones that carry a huge variety of shooters, racing, dancing, and rhythm games. Which is why we need to save them, along with the honeybees! I myself find D&B dull because it's mostly ticket games. Which Gameworks does have, but at least it doesn't predominate the floor. If you just come here for your arcade gaming fix, you'll leave happy like I do. They have daily specials which often come with unlimited gaming or you can use their Groupon deal too. If you come here to eat and drink...well that's a different story. Don't expect three Michelin star food and service lol. Tone your expectations down to Chuckee Cheese level please. I love how there's an entire row dedicated to DDR, and several different versions at that. They even have untranslated Japanese games like Taiko no Tatsujin! It's so hard to find them in mainstream places like this. So let your inner kid (or your actual kid) loose here. After receiving a top secret communication from a secret agent, the mission was set. Small team infiltration recon to scout out specific locations, blend in with the local population, obtain nourishment, followed by team obstacle course challenge. Covert agents Liquid Velvet and Fallen Angel transfer via POV without tactical support and converged to this location. Mission accepted, civilian debriefing to follow: I haven't been into Gameworks since I worked at Qwest and we would occasionally have after work get togethers there. It has changed quite a bit, and not necessarily for the better. Overall, the place seems run down and a bit sad. The bar and banquet spaces remodel took out a lot of games and gaming areas. I guess for the location, the niche they want, and the prices they charge, I would expect them to be more cutting edge and have the widest variety of new and old games (and in working order) than they do. It was clean, there is some variety that I didn't expect, and more games seemed to be working than some of these other reviews found on their visits. However, the tactical team of Riss and Don was up for one challenge in particular. The ongoing "Who schools who" battle for DDR supremacy. There are, if I am remembering right, 3 different versions of this game throughout the lower level. And, of course, we tried them all. From dinner to here Don, working as a double agent, had the plan of trying to overpower me, not with skill, but by getting me drunk. The sake and drinks at dinner were already doing a fairly decent job of getting me there. A Vanilla Stohli and coke at the bar was a good way to continue, but not too strong a pour here. For what they charge, we should have gotten the bottle. The main event: DDR. If you can get past the fact that you will likely have never heard of most of the songs unless you do regularly DDR or listen to Japanese pop and techno, you are good to go. We rallied back and forth for the lead in points, and if you average out the entire night, we were pretty close to tied. I did however kick his ass at any song w/ a salsa beat feel. In addition to dancing our little hearts out, we escaped from zombie hordes, hunted assassins, survived several car wrecks in excess of 200 mph, rode tandem in a jeep through a jungle of mega-bugs, turned into anime dancers (in the greatest twist on the photobooth my inner child has ever seen), hunted deer (Don totally killed Bambi!), got the beat with solo and tandem drumming, and hopped on our hogs and toured the streets of LA. The purikura machine (Japanese photobooth) upstairs was not on, and didn't say why. Sadness. I've heard it's the only one in the entire area. One of my favorite things was definitely the little Japanese drum game for two. Definitely a game approved for all ages. Choose your songs wisely though, unless you speak and read Japanese you won't really know what you're getting into and some of them are crazy fast. On the Asian version of "The other day (the other day), I saw a bear (I saw a bear)" kids song, however, I rocked it for a perfect 100% score! ha! At the end of the night, we had laughed and sweated our way through most of the games, leaving out only a few that were pretty much duplicates of others we'd already done (tons of racing games here) and left having had a fabulous time. Dude, hadn't been here since college. Talk about #tbt except nothing (really) has changed. Since the games were super packed we decided to have a snack first. Ordered the bacon burger with no bacon. Server asked if I didn't want cheese. I told him, "No bacon!". Two friends order the cookie ice cream thing and the other ordered brownie bites. Burger came first, with bacon...sent it back then once I got a new one (literally 15 seconds later) I ate it without the bun. Cookie ice cream dessert thing came with no spoon. While friend waited for a spoon, it turned into ice cream soup on a soggy cookie. Now, you'd think a brownie bite would be as described, multiple pieces of brownie but WT heck, none of us could figure it out. It was crunchy on the outside, chewy in the center, gritty, and such an off texture, I have no idea what birthed this thing and why a side of grapes came with it. Anyways, Connect Four is fun.
