Decided to check out Gameworks this past weekend for my daughter's birthday party. The Sunday deal (4 one hour game cards and a large pizza for $39.99) sounded like a pretty good deal for the kids, so we figured we'd give it a try. And it was definitely a resounding okay. The food was great for kids, definitely left something to be desired for adults. All the employees we ran across were helpful enough, but major points taken away for the absolutely atrocious state of the bathrooms (I held my little one above the toilet so she could go and covered her in lysol when she was done) and the fact that my leftovers were stolen by a homeless dude who was wandering the place. Definitely a bit of a creepy vibe, I was worried to even let go of any of the kids in my care. But hubby and I can't wait to come back by ourselves for a date night so we can order beer and I can kick his ass at racing some more!! read more

Awesome place to go play some games and drink some beers. They have most arcade games including Quick Draw. They also have a complete PC gaming room and offer reasonably priced games. The food and Happy Hour are great and worth checking out. This is my go-to for after work drinks as the games help me forget about being an adult even if for only a few minutes. I'm surprised how this place is still in business. Already couple times had a horrible experience with these guys. Lots of the machines don't work... and the was surprised when they told us the place has 15 min left to play our games. I put some money to play the game and the whole place shuts down. I go to get a refund and it was like pulling teeth out of them. The lady even asked a customer who also wanted his refund, how far into the game he was! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I assume the only reason this place stays in business is due to location. I keep coming back yet always leave wondering why. 1. Draft beer poured in a plastic cup was $7.33 2. Make sure you special order silverware or bring your own. 3. If there are more than 2 people sitting at the bar, allow for longer time to get service from the 2 bartenders. 4. They may want to invest in receiving cable or digital signal as the lack of reception looked like their rabbit ears were out of tune. One of the teenage boys said that his dad owns the GameWorks and said that he can tell his dad to kick us out which was ridiculous cause we did nothing wrong and were paying customers. The only reason they don't get a single star is for having a couple obscure Japanese games, notably Taiko no Tatsujin. Otherwise, this place is awful. Truly filthy, machines that grab credits and then won't play, staff that KNOWS about the broken machines and won't take them down or offer to refund credits. read more

Oh man, there is going to be a mob of disappointed gamers when PAX comes to town later this month. Boyfriend and I went here last weekend; three of our favorite games were down for repairs (management seemed pessimistic that they would ever be repaired), some games wouldn't accept swipes on the game cards, and I haven't seen a new cabinet in Gameworks for a long, long time. If you're looking for DDR or fighting games, you'll probably still wind up happy. Otherwise, there are MUCH better arcade (including bar arcades) in Seattle. read more

This is a good place for the games. It's certainly not ideal as the Tekken 5 machine I was playing on had two buttons that didn't work AT ALL. The good news is that it has games you would never expect outside of Asia such as Sangokushi Taisen! It does have Taiko no Tatsujin but it is only 9 which was released in 2006! If you're looking to play a more recent Taiko no Tatsujin, then go up to Burnaby, BC to CHQ Entertainment to find Taiko no Tatsujin 13. Another pleasant surprise is that Gameworks Seattle actually has Derby Owners Club World Edition! It has a few pinball games, Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion, Super Street Fighter IV AE, Street Fighter IV, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Metal Slug 5, Raiden Fighters, Razing Storm, House of the Dead 4, House of the Dead 3, House of the Dead 2 and Ms. Pacman on the second floor. It has several 4P Pacman cabinets and a variety of racing games on the ground floor. read more

This is a review for the eSports area of GameWorks. I am a client for GameWorks working alongside Blizzard to host a large-scale tournament for the public for Hearthstone. I just had the event on Saturday, January 30th, 2016 and was very pleased with the results. All of the eSports area coordinators helped out immensely with running the tournament and were all very friendly. We worked together for 12 straight hours and was able to construct a very successful event. Here were a lot of good aspects of the eSports area: 1. The computers worked very well and had no problems with the gameplay whatsoever. 2. The space is great for anyone who wants to PC game, Console game, or hang around. 3. The servers and coordinators for the eSports areas work very well together and will provide the best experience for the people playing. Again, I am very pleased with the service that I got as a tournament organizer. This tournament had over 64 players entered and the eSports area was perfect for this event. I would recommend anyone to host events here or even just game at the eSports area. P.S. I had the Asiago Peppercorn Burger and it was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing! This place isn't just for gaming, but for great food too! read more

Beer and video games. What more can i say. Well actually i can say more. The games are fairly fun and beer is okay. The only reason i didnt give this place a higher rating is because a certain rude bartender. I come up to the bartender and ask him if he knows how to make a Black Superman. He looks at me straight faced and emotionless and tells me "no". He tells me what beer is on happy hour. He never smiles once. Then after my female friend orders a AMF, he says a whiskey and coke is cheaper and convinces her to get that instead. What ever drink we asked for, he always pressured us to get something else. Just Give me what i asked for, i dont care if its a few bucks more. Besides that, had fun. read more

Holy bongwater batman! Like a parade of incompetent tragedies- my gf and I bought a couple Groupons for all day unlimited game playing, figuring we'd go, take our time, and enjoy playing all of the waayyyy overpriced games that we normally avoid... So we head to the main (and only) desk in the gaming area to redeem our gaming cards and what happened next can only be appreciated by recalling the worst customer service experience you've ever had The girl working the desk was clearly new- she had never heard of the groupon and literally stared at her screen for about 5 minutes, hitting random buttons before calling over two other employee as they walked by- (who also had never given out the groupon cards!!) At this point let me say that several dozen other people had purchased the groupon online so it was hard to believe this request had never come up before... Only one of the employes ever actually looked up and made eye contact, or even verbally acknowledged my girlfriend and I standing there- heads down, punching buttons, and not interacting with us, the customers...After a full FIFTEEN minutes of punching buttons on their outdated cashier/computer, we were given two gaming cards WHICH DID NOT WORK. Nearly ready to leave, I went to the bar, explained the situation, and was told to wait while somebody walked to the head office to pick up the correct cards which are apparently held in a safe in the main office...wtf. Soon enough we got our gaming on, only to discover that a full 3 out of the first 6 games we tried to play were just broken, out of order, or wouldn't accept our card... We only lasted an hour and a half or so- the extremely harsh flashing lights, excessive volume, and dank, unclean environment was just too much for us. In all- laughable customer service, horrible food (most of it fried), bathrooms worse than many public ones, and machines in disrepair...how is this place still in business?!?! read more

Many of the games are old. All of the televisions in the upstairs dining and pool/dart area are locked to the same station (who's dumbass idea was that?). And where the hell is the coat check? But the bacon...oh the bacon... The bacon alone is well worth the visit. Full of porky, fatty, salty goodness. Tasted butcher-fresh and was well worth the trouble of spending 10 minutes to find an employee to fix a game that locked up on us. read more

Happy hour is AWESOME!!!! Mon-Fri 3-7 is half off all appetizers and beer/wells! Who could complain about that?! During all other times the place is definitely expensive to drink at but the games are always a blast! One huge complaint here tho: the bathrooms are ALWAYS dirty and gross! Man I remember this place used to be so cool back in the day...then i grew up. The games are so so, they don't hold my attention that long. I got bored within an hour of being there. Plus there are greasy little teenagers lurking around waiting for you to leave the game you are playing. Or if they are bold enough, stand right next to you and watch until you are finished... The food in the bar area is nothing less than fried bar food. Oh and dont forget the screaming kids. On the plus side you can walk around with booze so, I dont know how they get away with that. read more

They removed the indy 500.. I can't tell about this place. Sometimes they have great games, sometimes they don't. I miss the hayday. With it all being said and done, there's certainly worse ways to waste some time and money. Just bring back crazy taxi. I don't even want to give stars...I'm in Seattle for a training, 1 hour 15 minutes for lunch, no one in the place: they brought us out sodas then forgot to take our order. 56 minutes later, still no food served to us (burger, salad, wrap) and everyone, literally everyone, that arrived after us had eaten, paid, left. We had to leave without food...it still wasn't ready! Then... $5.51 per soda, and she charged us! Do NOT recommend!! read more

Went here for my birthday and had a total blast! I really liked the food. My friends and I had the sampler platter and a huge helping of chili-cheese fries to split, and we each got drinks. I thought the food was delicious and my Mudslide was perfect! I took my brother here as well and he loved the buffalo wings and of course his tall glass of beer to go with them. I love the staff here. They are very friendly and were extremely attentive when I told them one of the machines was on the fritz. Within a few minutes a technician was up taking it apart and soon it was back in business. I've never seen such a quick turnaround in an arcade before! Also, I had been saving tickets up for a while now to win of the giant Sonic toys (being a fan) and finally managed to do it! However, they only had one Silver left (the one of display), but when they saw how excited I was, they gave it to me anyway for my hard-earned tickets. Now that's good customer service! My favorite "game" has to be the sticker booth. I use it every time I visit! It's a little confusing at first since I don't speak Japanese, but we figured it out and had a blast making crazy photos and then putting stickers, borders and drawing all over them. I was surprised my brother had as much fun as I did! My bro and I also had a blast playing the token (ticket-redemption) games, especially this one called "Cut the Cheese" that was just so funny. He got the jackpot on it! The DDRs are well-maintained and I think considering the selection they have, they take good care of their older machines. I'd love to see a lot more machines, but in the meantime I'm happy with what's there and I always leave wanting to spend a few more credits. read more

Gameworks seems like a cool joint to spend your time playing video games. I spent about $10 and got good use out of it. They don't take tokens or coins and instead you load money onto a game card. Just swipe and the proper denominations will be deducted from your balance. They have your older retro arcade games like Frogger and newer ones too. I randomly stumbled upon the place and it seems like a great place to hang out, eat, and play video games. read more

Gameworks is a pretty sweet place to hangout on Thursday night. Only because they have a special on this night - $10 for unlimited gaming after 9pm until close (midnight). The layout itself is huge with an upstairs and downstairs. There is also a bar along the side for the thirsty folks. I'm not a complete gaming nerd so I can't really comment on the selection of games but they have a pretty wide range of games, imo. So if you get bored or if you really suck at one, you can move onto something else. I loved the Japanese drum game, though it would have been cool if there was a way to have two people play on it. The guitar game was sorta lame, as some of the buttons on one of the guitars was broken. If you find yourself mentally challenged by the games, you can always give yourself a break and play some skee ball. I wouldn't go on any other night because it can get pretty pricey, but if you're looking for something to do on a Thursday night, besides the usual Thirsty Thursday ritual, Gameworks can be a fun option. read more

Gameworks is fun...you gotta love a place where you can drink, eat, and play games! It's fun to hit up the bar there, grab some drinks, get a bucket of beers, or just kick back with some friends and watch a sports game. The food is alright and the game selection they have is pretty great. However, I was a bit disappointed today when I went in to play some games and you no longer get tickets in Skeeball and basketball, when before, you were able to. Bummer. I love Skeeball and it wasn't quite the same without it spewing tickets out at me while I was racking up massive amounts of points. The place is clean, rather spacious, and has a great game selection. You name it, they most likely have it. Worth checking out if you are looking to do something on a rainy day in Seattle. read more

This place needs to step up its game! Half the games we played one of the units was broken so we couldn't play with more than one person. The bathroom was a mess and had a hole in the wall that looked like someone had punched it. Also we saw a mouse running around after we ate in the dining area! Gameworks is a pretty alright place to kill some time with some friends. I just went recently and it seemed like it was cleaner and had more games than I remember it having last time I was there. The games are kept up reasonably well; not perfect, but more than satisfactory for what I expect at arcades. I really wish the DDR machines had their volumes turned up some more! I've never had the food or many drinks here. It just seems too close to other well known restaurants or bars to bother. read more

I had my birthday party here this week. It was an absolute blast! There was about 15 of us and we all got 2 hour gamecards, some great food, and BEER TOWERS!!! Can't recommend this place enough. I work downtown. It's great for a fun lunch or a big get together! The manager is incredibly accommodating and can make pretty much anything you need or want happen. Can't wait to go back! Updated Review: I would come here to use their Prikura machine (Japanese photo-booth) with friends, since it is the only place in Seattle that has it. The photo-booth seems like it was sent to Gameworks Seattle to die. It acutally might be toast since its always out of order (with out a sign) and is now collecting dust. I'm really, really bummed. The upkeep of their Benami isn't that great. Taiko: Drum Master is not in the best shape. Its gotten pretty beat up. Having DJMAX Technika be their only new music game (gets all the attention from maintenance and clientele), doesn't make up for the fact that other games are neglected and outdated. Upgrading games/prikura or better maintenance wouldn't hurt. As far as the bar goes, bartenders and staff are pleasant. Drinks are still weak and over priced. Its nice that you can take your grown-up beverage with you while you game, but the gaming experience really makes me sad and disappointed as an long-time regular. I find myself spending less and less time here. I promise to come back when everything is better cared for. :( read more

Found this place next to the movie theater unexpectedly. Great fun!!! A good mix of old school and modern games; spacious floor plan with adjacent bar and cafe. Kid next to us won 1400 tickets on his first game! Lots of fun...open late (1 AM) and the under 18 crowd gets the boot at 10 PM. read more

This place has gone WAY down hill! We bought a groupon which I looked for the fine print on what it covered. It must have been in micro print that was hidden behind the fake picture they put on there site. The place was really dirty! We walked in at 10:20 AM and our feet were sticking to the floor. When we went to redeem our groupon the lady was NOT friendly at all. It was then she told us about ALL the games not included. I didn't want there little prizes bought with tickets. But other games like the Derby game and some of the racing games. We did not drive over 60 miles not to play some of our favorite games. $$$$$$ hard lesson learned! Bought a card on the first night and used it all weekend. Most games are about 4 tokens and the big time ticket producing games are 7-9 tokens each. We got 414 tokens (credits) for $54. Not bad for the entire 3 days we were here. Lots of games ate our money or did not produce the right number of tickets but if you told an attendant they were very polite and got your credits back for you. The technician was running around like crazy. It seems slightly more run down then the Jillians or Dave and Busters that we are used to at home but still fun. It does not have bowling like the aforementioned venues. We ate there one night and there is no hostess, you just seat yourself so if there are no seats you just wander around like an idiot till one opens up. I had the fish tacos and they were great. $13. My husband had the pizza and said there was too much flour on the bottom, kind of changing the flavor. $9 Our beers were $6.41 a pint!!! That was high to me. The happy hour play and eat combo is great if you can get it. read more

If you had asked me to review this place 2 years ago, I would have given it 4 stars but as of late, the place seems to have gone down hill. I've been going off and on for years and the last few experiences have left me discouraged, especially this last visit. We went on a weekend, which would prompt me to think they should have as many games as possible up and running because weekend are busiest, right? A TON of games were out of service and many of the ones, which were working had been literally duct taped and hand drawn on for the repairs needed. The place didn't feel clean or welcoming like it had in the past and the staff has gotten increasingly grumpy over the years. When it came time to count my tickets (I'm a sucker for ridiculously over priced ticket prizes) I felt as though I was interrupting the employees. I do love that this place encourages an older crowd so if I go after 10pm I won't have to watch my mouth or worry about "jam-hands" on the games but I do hope they work on getting things running smoothly again. Maybe their games-repair person has been out sick a lot lately?? I'll be back in hopes of returning to this review to add another star. read more

Gameworks. Ah that 8 year old boy's wet dream of a debaucherous night of playing shooting and driving games. Or...a Friday night with drunk 20-something young professionals killing it at DDR, pool, and eating cheesecake from next door. They kick out under-18's at 10 pm so you can have your beer and drink it too. It does get awkward screaming expletives when you mess up your DDR groove "left, right, right, up, F*CK how did i miss right AGAIN!?!" while an 11 year old waits for next in line. CON: outdatedness. their TVs are from the jurassic era (fun fact: apprently steven spielberg filmed a scene or two of jurassic park in here) and where the heck is my skeeball, that was hidden in the back of the second floor. make that more visible. read more

Love this place! Arcade, games, alcohol, & food. If that's not a great combination then i don't know what is. The nachos are SO GOOD. Only thing I don't like is their "chicken & waffles". It's not chicken wings like how I expected. It's actually chicken strip/pieces that are fries and drenched in super sweet syrup. The batter is too overwhelming; maybe a little on the less side will make it better. Other than that plate, everything else is great in my book! read more

Considering that this place becomes 21+ I'm a fan. I'm still debating whether or not I like place more than Round 1 but the 21+ factor really comes into play. They also are a little slower on the serving side if you're planning on sitting down but this is a staple and basically the only thing open in downtown after 10pm. I love that they're not adapting all their old machines into the new games. Case and point, Jurassic Park. The newest version is a machine gun and really not as fun. I might have a sore pointer finger after but I feel accomplished as I can get through most of the story line. There's also something fulfilling after killing dinosaurs with one head shot. And of course if you're an Initial D fiend, they have the card reader. And also tons of ddr. They are up on the Japanese game crazes so you won't find that anywhere else. read more
