I waited in line for almost 2 hours and when it was finally my turn at the counter, they told me they will only give the bonus to the ones who preordered in-stores first and told me I will have to wait to see if there is anything left which there are none. This GameStop is packed with pretty much everything you want. I don't know why it doesn't get better reviews. It's a video game store with staff that are gamers. So far I've bought my PS4 Pro and games there. My next planned purchase is the virtual reality set. This GameStop is also walking distance from my house. So for me personally, if I want a new game (and be able to trade it when I'm done) is better than downloading off the PlayStation store. I only do that for games that I play forever, like Skyrim. I had great customer service (I was the only customer in there at the time). I was helped by a woman gamer, so that was cool too. She had a lot of info, we apparently both love Skyrim. read more

I don't usually go looking for video games or anything, but I had wanted to do something nice for some very special people, so I found myself deep within the belly of the beast of a Gamestop. I was lost looking for some great multiplayer games for the PS3, and the rep (an extremely nice and bespectacled young lady) recommended Diablo 3 and a few other gems. The games did not disappoint and she even saved me heaps of moola signing me up for some club thing with a free subscription to another game thing... anyway, all very hard to follow, but in the end it was a pleasant experience and she deserves a kudos for helping me! I love this Gamestop. It was my first time in this store and I had called earlier to place a hold on a copy of Alan Wake Remastered which is my husband's favorite game. When we got there around 8pm-ish, the 2 team members behind the counter were absolutely friendly and made me feel very welcomes. They asked me what I needed help with and I told them I was here for the game and I whispered I wanted to surprise my husband with it and the male team member (I feel bad I didn't get his name) immediately stated whispering and we had a nice conversation about how I finally scored a PS5 for my husband after 10 months of trying and he was empathetic to my situation. I told him how I loved Disney and he immediately showed me to the Disney Funko Section and showed me the Donald 65th anniversary edition on the matterhorn bobsled and I bought it because I was missing that Funko. The female team member was amazing too and she helped me with paying with my digital giftcard and my $5 off code for being a pro member. The male team member will looking up future disney funkos for me and I appreciate his effort to help me out. He even treated my husband like another customer in front of me to help "pretend" he wasn't with me haha I really enjoyed my experience at this store and I will be back for sure when I'm ready to buy more games. Terrible experience. I used to go to the one in the marketplace but they closed down so i had to go to the one in mainstreet. I needed to return my headphones because i broke the jack and the guy working there was so rude and not helpful at all. I asked him if i would return a pair for the same kind but they had NO headphones or headsets whatsoever, so i asked him if he could just order a new pair and we'll just pick it up but, he said no and this "were all in it together" so then i just asked if i can get another pair different but same price and he said that they didnt have anything left in stock, like really my guy you deserve to be fired honestly and he assumed we didnt have the receipt when yes we did cause it was in the box and didnt even check it for one. so he said that he wasnt gonna give us the money back unless we had one. My guy you dont need the receipt unless its past 30 days but when i bought it, it was on the 1ST OF AUGUST mind that because when i wanted to return it, it was on the 16TH OF AUGUSTS so, how many days is that again omg its 15? isnt it??? then i asked for his corporate number and he said it was on the website like sis what website and where please. This place survives because of it's location. The staff is almost completely useless, probably because they are mistreated by management. I've bought my fair share of games from here, but after black Friday I had to call it quits. The place was packed because they had some great deals. Half of the games they had boxes for but didn't have in stock. The line was almost out the door and they had one of three employees on a register while the manager stood there with her thumb up her ass. She does this every time I go in. She will greet you, but when it comes to actual work she always pawns it off to someone else. I can't support this kind of bullshit anymore. I came in looking for a new Heavy Rain and called in advanced to make sure they carried it and they confirmed it. When I came to pick it up I was given one that didn't have the original box or the manual and they claimed it was "New." I didn't want to drive to another store so I grudgingly accepted it. New is supposed to be in the original box with the shrink wrap in place. They wouldn't accept a return if the orignal box and manual was missing so why would they sell a customer something in that condition? I will never shop at this GameStop again. read more

I really like Gamestop. They can be busy sometimes but they have the greatest variety of games, toys, and shirts. Please support them and shop there. If Gamestop goes out of business then the big box stores will win. Gamestop offers great customer service and true gamer knowledge. They offer magazines with the reward program and if you are a true bargain hunter you can find value in older games or toys...I feel like Gamestop is the best source for toys now. They have all the best Funko pops and you can preorder the cool ones. They also have the Marvel Legends figures which can be valuable. I went in today to return animal farm Nintendo switch game I purchased online at gamestop.com and was told that since I opened the plastic even though it is within the 30 day return period, I could only trade it in for 20$ store credit!! I usually don't waste my time to fill things out but I have to say the sales associate Criselda is someone I would love to have on my staff. I'm at an age where I'm a young professional so I don't play games as much but when I do, I buy a few at a time as I'm not able to afford it with ease. I usually save my time and just order it online but I didn't have a chance this time for GTA 5. I had some credit left over from trade-in's where I spent almost an hour with a very uninformed associate on the phone. I finally got a new credit number where when I asked, she said I wouldn't need a pin. So I walk into the store where the associate was really helpful, nice and very fast on the register. She got people in and out quickly with a smile. I liked her vibe already and appreciate her ability to multitask. I showed her my paperwork where she mentioned she could call to see what she could do for me. I almost waited 45 minutes where I started getting pretty heated. She helped other customers while I wondered around the store but she also checked in with me, chatted a bit and made a few suggestions. I appreciated the customer service on the follow-up and to let me know that I'm still on her mind and she didn't forget about me. About 45 minutes later, she got on the phone with the rep, suggested a few things to her to get my trade-in credit and wow, I got my game! The time with her was probably only less than 5 minutes where the other time was waiting for the call center to pick up the phone. They need to have a different line when it comes to the store's calls and increase the staff members for big releases. Overall, it could have been a very unpleasant experience but she made it worth it where I'll be glad to return to the store if there's sales reps like her. Now, I don't usually get mad over something like this, but it has been a long day and all I wanted to do was come home with a new game I pre ordered that was due for release tonight. Last week, I went in to the store to trade in a few things and pre order Destiny TTK. I asked the guy behind the counter if there was going to be a midnight release for this game, and he told me in confidence that yes, indeed, there would be. Over the course of this week, my anticipation started to boil over. I could not wait to begin unraveling the next chapter of a game I've poured an entire year into. After doing a 13 hour shift at work, I drive to this store on my way home at 11:45 pm only to find that the gates were closed, and the lights were dim. Not exactly how I envisioned my night going. And now I sit in my bedroom, writing this review on Yelp when I could be enjoying some alien hunting action with my friends who got the expansion digitally. I traded in my console with Alhambra gamestop. At the time, Alhambra gamestop gave me a 'trade in' gift card for me to use the money. That card never worked. Every time I have to ask the Alhambra cashier to manually enter the card number. Few days ago, Alhambra gamestop did not have the game my son wants exchange (his game broke after two weeks). So I went to this store in Monterey Park to exchange it, (per Alhambra store instruction). And i wanted to buy insurance on the game just in case if it breaks again. However, the store in this location, (monterey park) doesn't allow me to use my 'trade in' gift card since it cannot be swiped. The store claims they have a RULE not to manually enter any card numbers. After I explained them many times, the card was damaged to begin with, and for the past months, gamestop had been manually entering the card number. They are so rude. Doesn't even know their own policy. I called gamestop customer support, they told me they did not have any such policy. I drove back to alhambra gamestop ask them the same question. They said, they don't know why Monterey park gamestop doesn't take my 'trade in' card manually, and nobody has any rules or policy related to this. I came to this store to purchase 2 separate gaming systems. An Xbox 1s for myself and another one for my son, he's leaving for college after this year. There was one worker and she was helping a lady that had a lot of questions. I already knew I was in for a bit of a wait, which was fine with me. 15 minutes later and having not even been acknowledged I started to grow restless. 30 minutes later and still the employee hadn't even realized I was standing right in front of her, had she just looked over and acknowledged my presence I would have waited. I left and went to a different GameStop then spent close to a grand in systems and accessories. Shady Alert! Stay Away at all costs. So I traded in two games to pre-order GTA5 on the PS4. Upon checking out the cashier told me I also have $25 worth of coupons that I can redeem but I needed to re-up my Power club membership because its expiring soon. I asked if I had to do that to use the coupon and he said technically no but recommended it. I said I would hold off on re-upping but I want to use the rewards for GTA5. So I redeem it on my phone and gave him the code. What does he do? He rings me up for the renewal anyways but I was like screw it can't hurt to re-up. Now comes my main beef. I picked up GTA5 and then bought Destiny. I have been playing Destiny non-stop and never even taken GTA5 out of the plastic wrapper. Today I go to return it and this is where it really gets ugly. So a game that cost me 59.99 plus tax then only wanted to give me back $24 for a newly purchased game still in the wrapper and yes I had the receipt as well. They say I lost my $25 in rewards as well as trade in for my past two games which means that they get to bank two games from me, two years worth of saved up points and only give me $24 back for a game they will then resell for full retail. Must be nice ripping off your customers aye? The manager and/or supervisor Chris tells "When you use a coupon you better make sure you want to keep the game" What? Seriously, how about tell your customers the rules to the game so they can know what they are getting into. I mean best buy doesn't jerk you out of your rewards points when you want to process an exchange and its actually free to be in there program. So I get the luxury of paying $15 annually to have a shady rewards program that penalizes you for wanting to exchange a new product for one that you will actually use. I forgot to mention that I actually was going to exchange GTA5 for the Destiny Season Pass but after all this shananagans I decided to take my business elsewhere. Not a great way to treat your customers and the sarcastic attitudes are unnecessary. Next stop is reporting this issue to the Better Business Bureau so that your corporate office can be apprised of this situation and hopefully future customers aren't jerked around like they are doing their customers at this location. read more

Been coming here since I was a little kid, love the store. Lately though it's seems that the employees are not as cool, helpful, and friendly as they used to be. Some employees don't do their job right, they're supposed to ask if it is okay with your parents if you buy a game that is rated Mature but they don't.
