My visit was on 12/26/2024... I went into the store as I was browsing through their game selection. I found a hidden gem during my visit, however, the cashiers couldn't sell me the game that was clearly marked down a lot lower than what they had wanted me to pay. When they scanned it, the price showed up HIGHER than the sticker price. Then, the cashier (who was helpful by the way to a certain extent) explained that they couldn't do a manual override. Then I asked if I could speak to a manager who was coincidentally on lunch... then I was told that she (the manager) stated she needed to email their DM for a price override. I was skeptical about it as it seemed that they wanted to sell the game at a higher price rather than the marked down price. I declined to purchase that specific game for the higher price as they should've sold it me for the lower price! I was told I could leave my info behind, but have not heard back from anyone They were not too busy but I wasn't going to "wait" around for a response as no one seemed to do anything else but wait for the "manager" to "email" their DM or OM. I went into the store and they were able to "sell" it to me but their reason behind it was that they hadn't updated the sticker for that very day i went in so they can replace it with the higher price. I rarely leave negative reviews, but after four separate visits to this GameStop location, I feel other customers should be aware of my experience. Each visit involved the same manager "Wally"and unfortunately, every interaction was unprofessional and dismissive. When I brought in items to sell, they were clean, I store all of unused electronics in plastic containers, and have them in good condition. Despite that, the manager began wiping down my consoles with cleaning wipes, potentially exposing ports to moisture. I respectfully mentioned that liquid could damage the equipment. During this process, she even scratched the surface of one console with her ring before stopping. The handling of my property felt careless. On another visit, after receiving store credit, I attempted to purchase new, sealed copies of specific games. I was repeatedly told they were out of stock and encouraged to purchase used copies instead. That's funny the web site said they had 5 new copy's in stock...... hmmm. After leaving and returning later when a different employee was working, I was informed the new copies were in fact available and was able to purchase them without issue. That contradiction was concerning. The preorder process was equally frustrating. I was told a limited edition version was sold out, then told I could preorder but would receive it a week late. I was also warned that switching locations would not guarantee my copy. The day before release, I received a call saying my game was delayed until next week -- despite previously being shown a copy with my name on it. I ultimately went to the Santa Anita Mall location and secured the limited edition with a guaranteed release date. The professionalism and clarity there were completely different. I remained polite during every interaction. Unfortunately, the repeated inconsistencies and dismissive treatment have made me reconsider shopping at this location entirely. I hope corporate reviews the customer service standards at this store. They need to get rid of that manager and her minions. She's terrible. I mean reading more of the reviews on here solidifies it. I try to not go on yelp reviews just to blast places because often times only the loudest and angriest folks get amplified. But this latest experience was infuriating. I've been going here for years. And it's been fine or even solid. It's close by and fewer and fewer places have physical games. But this new employee or manager of the store is terrible and clueless about how things work. Recently preordered Expedition 33. Game is late. That's fine. Things happen. That's happened before. So I tried to cancel the preorder like I've previously done where games have been late. But the lady at the counter says it's can't be cancelled until the game comes in. Which is nonsense because I've successfully cancelled preorders before, and the receipt says I have the right to cancel. I asked another employee and they were ready to help me but she basically overrided them. I came back this morning when she wasn't around. Surprise surprise the preorder was cancelled no problem by the employee that was ready to help me the previous day. So the lady was either clueless, too lazy to assist, or just didn't want to impact the store's sale. To backtrack, on release date I called 20 times and no one was able to answer. When I finally came to the store after work, that same lady went on break (this I don't blame her much if the store is understaffed) and the store was just empty. Maybe this is a bigger corporate problem that has led to stores being understaffed, staffed with unhelpful people, or staffed with unscrupulous folks who will do anything to preserve a sale. But it's a sad sight. Obviously the deposit was only a nominal figure and I probably would have eventually come back for something else. It's just so frustrating though to be gaslit by either incompetency and/or someone trying to cheat you. I was in line for over an hour to buy some Pokemon cards at this Alhambra, CA branch. When it was finally my turn, the Asian clerk told me i HAVE to be a member to make a purchase.  I had made purchases from a different Gamestop before in the past, and i don't need any special membership to make any purchases. This is completely BS. And what i realized was the Clerk has a side shop that sells trading cards at Frank & Sons. I'm not say it, but don't tell me he got no connection for his side business. I guess the Clerk get commissions for every members that he signed. Today I went in with my son and had an amazing experience. Thomas, the sales rep, was extremely generous with his time. And Thomas was super informative with his recommendations on games that my son should check out. And because my son looks so much younger than he is, Thomas was sensitive with games that had teen ratings and gave me the heads up on games to stay away from. read more

I walked in the other day & I was browsing looking for Pokemon cards & I visit this GameStop often and I notice they never really have Pokemon in stock & that day I walked in I noticed that they had booster bundles in the back as I was looking at the games I heard the lady that works there call up someone she was trying to be discrete speaking in Spanish but I happen to speak Spanish and I over heard her talking to her son asking if he wanted Pokemon cards because they had some in stock she then told him that there was only 5 destined rivals booster bundles left and that if he wanted them so she then proceeded to buy all the destined rival booster bundles they had for her kid while she was working I was upset because I was planning to buy one and I doubt it's her first time doing this so just keep in mind if you are looking to buy Pokemon cards here you might not have any luck because the employees are most likely buying them for there kids/friends/family. read more

I asked to speak to a manager, lady claimed she was but didn't have a name tag. She lies to my face telling me they were really busy. I let her know I called from outside the store before coming in as I noticed a vacant store and no one answering, she changes her story to say phone is broken. Never open. Hours as posted are never followed. Nobody ever picks up the phone. I have visited several times and it's always closed.

Called in to see if they had a game and a person named Tiffany answered, put us on hold to "look" for it and said they had it. We went in and asked for the game, even mentioned that that we were the ones that called. They go to look for the game and they call their coworker to see where the game is at. She hangs up and says "we don't have it". I'm not kidding when I say we were not even five mins away from the store after calling. I hope that management teaches their staff to actually look for a product and not just check their system inventory because sometimes it's not accurate and anyone that has worked retail knows that. read more

Got what I needed and was helped by a wonderful worker! No complaints during any of my visits!

Ventured in on day 2 of the Astral Radiance Typhlosion promo card event in which you get the card after purchasing $15 worth of Pokemon TCG. After about 30 long minutes in line I bought 4 packs of AR and received the promo card. Shame that I can't remember the employee's name but he had dark shoulder length hair. I thought it was strange that he kept the card face down the whole transaction and I realized why after I had left the store and was on my way home. The card was scratched, bent, and partially opened - completely damaged and useless. I went back to the store to exchange it, and luckily was helped out by a female employee (Gabby, I believe) who didn't seem aware of the promotion but was sweet and understanding of the situation. She had to check and confirm with the same male employee that gave me the scratched card if it was alright to do the exchange. It was at this moment the male employee shouted out that he had already given me a promo card and I responded back that he gave me a scratched one. He muttered "Oh" and doesn't even bother to apologize. Great customer service skills for sure! He was so shady it was obvious he already knew it was a damaged card. He's even a Pokémon card collector himself as he stopped to brag to Gabby about what he pulled recently while he was helping out another customer. Double check that you're not getting scammed or ripped off if you decide to stop here for promos. 2 stars because this GameStop had more stock of Pokémon cards than my usual ones up in the Bay Area. read more

So after the legendary John Madden passed away, I just had to go get my copy of madden 22. I went into this specific location and I was helped out by Jasmine. She was very cool and extremely helpful. I still had a couple of things to do after, so Jasmine put everything in my backpack which was really cool. But what impressed me was when she offered to open the door for me. Ali is the RUDEST "acting manager" I have EVER come across at any Gamestop for the past 12 years!! I received an email about the deal of the day, nowhere in the email does it say online only! When it's online only it says so on the email. I tried to order online so I can pick up in store and it said no games available for pick up. I called this Gamestop and a female stated it was available and she put it on hold. I drive out of my way to this Gamestop and when I pay it rings up $19.99. I show her my email and then Ali steps in and says he can't price match because some deals of the days are online only. I showed him my email it doesn't say online only. He said to order it online and choose pick up. I told him I already did that and it didn't show available for pick up, he then said it must be a glitch in the system. Ok so is that my fault? As an acting manager all he had to do was price match for me. He then ignored me and the other female are just there watching him clean around his register. Shady place Please check your receipt before you leave and pay, for I did not do that. Was overcharged for a game and called the store and advise them of it and told them there was a sale tag. Came back, they had just ripped off the sale sticker and pretended as if they had no idea what I was talking about. Found some on the bottom shelves that they "forgot" to take the sticker off. Needless to say, do your job people, if the sale was over a few days ago, then someone was slacking and forgot to take off the stickers. I wonder how management would feel if they knew how shady their employees were, if you can really do something as low as this, I wonder what your doing when your at work.
